Ariana Grande Ends Tour In Tears Before Spotlight Break

Published

on

31st Annual Critics Choice Awards

Ariana Grande’s next chapter may be on pause, but the singer made sure her final night on stage was filled with emotion before stepping away from the spotlight.

After months of performances across North America and Europe, the pop star brought her “Eternal Sunshine Tour” to a close in London, where an emotional farewell quickly became one of the evening’s defining moments.

As the last show ended, Grande struggled to hold back tears while reflecting on a tour that she described as one of the most meaningful experiences of her career.

Rather than ending the night with a simple goodbye, Ariana Grande paused to address the crowd at London’s O2 Arena and share what the tour had meant to her.

Fighting back tears, the songstress admitted the moment was overwhelming as she stood before thousands of fans for the final time before her planned hiatus.

“This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life and I just want to express my gratitude without sobbing completely,” Grande told the audience.

She continued, “But really, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s been so special, and I’ll cherish this experience always.”

The emotional speech came at the conclusion of a massive 41-show run that included dates across the United States, Montreal, and a lengthy stay in London.

As fans cheered her on, Grande made it clear that the connection she built during the tour was something she would carry with her long after the final curtain fell.

While the tears drew attention, Ariana Grande spent much of her farewell focusing on the people who filled arenas night after night.

The “God Is a Woman” singer repeatedly praised the dedication fans brought to the shows, from their themed outfits to the handmade messages they carried into venues.

“I have the best fans in the entire world, and I always have,” Grande shared. She then thanked concertgoers for embracing the spirit of the tour, adding, “I love your outfits, I love your faces, I love seeing you, I love connecting with you in this way.”

Grande also talked about the creativity she witnessed throughout the run, telling fans, “Thank you for all of your effort for making this so special. All your messages and your costumes and your wardrobe and makeup is just so beautiful.”

Before leaving the stage, she delivered one final message of appreciation. In her words, “I have loved every minute of this with you all and I just want to make sure I express how grateful I am,” before adding, “Thank you and I love you so much.”

Ariana Grande Changes Ricky Alvarez Lyric One Last Time

Grande’s emotional farewell at London’s O2 Arena wasn’t the only moment that had fans talking after the final Eternal Sunshine Tour show.

During the same concert, the singer made yet another change to her famous Ricky Alvarez lyric in “thank u, next,” adding what many fans viewed as her clearest public acknowledgment yet of their rekindled romance.

The original lyric goes, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh.” However, during the tour finale, Grande sang per PEOPLE, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / I’m tryna make him my last,” drawing an immediate reaction from the crowd and even cheers from her backup dancers.

The moment capped off a months-long series of lyric changes that had fueled speculation about the pair’s relationship.

In June, she sang, “I know he’s still got my back” while Alvarez watched from the VIP section at her Austin show.

Weeks later in Brooklyn, she switched the line to, “We always find our way back,” prompting fans to believe the former couple had reunited. She later joked, “And they still kinda slap,” before delivering the most direct version yet during the London finale.

With the tour now over, attention has shifted to what comes next for Ariana Grande after she confirmed plans to step away from public-facing work.

As The Blast reported, her representative previously said the former Nickelodeon star was taking an extended break amid “ongoing public scrutiny,” a decision that Grande later emphasized was carefully considered rather than a spur-of-the-moment reaction.

The decision has already affected several high-profile projects. Most notably, Grande withdrew from the upcoming West End revival of “Sunday in the Park with George,” where she had been set to star alongside “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey.

Despite her departure, producers confirmed that production would continue as planned and that they would begin searching for a replacement.

Grande’s decision to leave “Sunday in the Park with George” ended up having wider consequences for the production.

Nearly a month after her exit became public, Bailey announced that he too would be stepping away from the highly anticipated West End revival.

In a statement, the actor made clear that there was no bad blood behind his decision and publicly supported his former co-star.

“Ari is one of my dearest friends, and my support for her is unwavering,” he wrote per The Blast while announcing his departure.

Bailey also praised director Marianne Elliott and described the production as a project he cared deeply about before revealing, “After much consideration, I have decided to also step back from Sunday in the Park with George.”

10 Mario Bros. Games That Are Perfect From Start to Finish

Published

on

Mario shooting at a rabbit in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Many iconic and popular video games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2, innovated the medium with immersive new gameplay and gaming experiences. When games get popular, they become franchises, and there are many faces in the industry, like Master Chief in Halo. However, there isn’t a more iconic and legendary face of gaming than Mario, everyone’s favorite mustachioed plumber.

Whereas most video games try to stay in their lane, Mario has no problem delving into unexplored territory with new genres every year. That is why this list will celebrate the Super Mario Bros. games that are truly perfect based on aspects such as gameplay, design, influence, originality, variety, entertainment value, fan opinion, critical acclaim, and overall quality. This list will aim for a variety of franchises, including spin-offs and mainline platforms.

Nintendo and Mario are synonymous, mainly because the character is a figurehead of the company. However, they have outsourced it a couple of times, and the result was a game like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. When a time machine warps the two franchises into one, the two groups of characters must team up in order to defeat the mega-Rabbid and get back to their own reality.

Nintendo leaving their biggest franchise in the hands of another company is rare, and the pressure to make a good game is bigger than ever, so the developers must have had a sigh of relief when Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle turned out well. The strategic turn-based combat is something completely different yet welcome for Mario, creating a tactical shooter with engaging gameplay and a fun Mario vibe.

‘Super Mario Strikers’ (2005)

Mario + Rabbids isn’t a major spin-off, but Nintendo has a few other popular side adventures, such as Mario sports games. Mario sports games are very hit or miss, but one that was a massive hit was Super Mario Strikers. In this game, players team up into a group of 5 and take on other teams in underground soccer/football competitions with extreme gameplay.

There are a few other sports games that could be here, but Super Mario Strikers stands out because it abandons the traditional vibe for something more aggressive and edgy. Fast-paced action paired with cinematic power-ups and surges of extreme gameplay, Super Mario Strikers is an addictive title that establishes itself as the best Mario sports video game.

‘Super Mario Sunshine’ (2002)

There are a handful of spin-off games on this list, but everyone knows and loves Mario because of mainline 3D platformers, such as Super Mario Sunshine. Going on vacation to a beach city, Mario doesn’t get any time to relax when he is framed for polluting the city. Now needing to clean it up, he sets out to find the one framing him for this crime and take them down.

While this may be seen as a controversial choice, especially since every 3D platformer is phenomenal, Super Mario Sunshine is an underrated yet beloved cult classic. The graphics were ahead of their time, specifically the water motions and attacks. However, more than that, this nostalgic video game boasts an engaging core mechanic while also highlighting an interconnected set of levels in a world that is fun to explore.

‘Super Mario Party Jamboree’ (2024)

Nintendo has a lot of new ways to put a new coat of paint on Mario, as evident from this list, but that also includes party games. Mario Party is a board game-style franchise that has players roll dice to make their way around a map and compete in mini-games in order to collect enough coins to purchase a star. At the end of the game, the player with the most stars wins, but there are plenty of mini-games, twists, and roadblocks to make the outcome unexpected.

There are so many fantastic Mario Party games, especially nostalgic ones, but the best is arguably the most recent one, Super Mario Party Jamboree. It remasters plenty of classic mini-games and board game map styles to bring back what fans love while still being something new. As one of the most fun Nintendo video games, it is an absolute delight that is even better with friends or family, even if it might make some enemies.

‘Super Mario Bros. Wonder’ (2023)

Mario originally started as a 2D platformer, but the longer the franchise has gone on, it has transitioned into the 3D realm. However, Super Mario Bros. Wonder brought back that 2D style with a modern twist to make it better than ever. Bowser has grown tired of the Mushroom Kingdom, now setting his sights on the Flower Kingdom, which he takes control of using the powers of the Wonder Flower to fuse himself with the castle. Luckily, Mario and Luigi are here to stop him.

The Nintendo Switch is one of the best Nintendo consoles, especially for Mario, since it added so many new games and remakes. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a must-play 2D platformer that reinvented the franchise with wacky gimmicks and bizarre unpredictability. But this fresh twist made Mario better than ever, using its imaginative mechanics to create an invigorating sense of play unlike anything else in the franchise.

‘Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’ (2004)

A still from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Mario is mainly a platforming franchise, and this list proves it, since half of the entries are either 2D or 3D platformers. However, the franchise also consists of some magnificent RPG titles, such as Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The game follows Mario as he travels to a port town in order to help Princess Peach open the titular door. However, once he arrives, he discovers that the princess has been kidnapped by an alien race known as the X-Nauts.

There are so many Mario spin-off titles, but no one expected the RPG genre to be so prolific for the plumber, delivering multiple masterpieces. However, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door stands above the rest because of its engaging timed button gameplay that adds a nice sense of flow to the game. Compelling and charming, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is an underrated Mario gem that is one of the best turn-based RPG titles.

‘Super Mario Odyssey’ (2017)

As mentioned with Super Mario Sunshine, 3D platformers are easily the peak of the franchise, and the newest entry is still one of the greatest. Super Mario Odyssey follows the traditional Mario storyline with Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach to serve as his bride. Mario must now travel around multiple kingdoms to find and save her.

Fans are still waiting for the next 3D platformer from Mario, but Super Mario Odyssey is still the most expansive and ambitious project, making the wait more manageable. The many sandbox worlds are jam-packed with collectibles and platforming genius, making traversal fluid and fun. The capture mechanic changed the game, literally, adding another layer of gameplay that made everything even more compelling.

‘Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’ (2017)

The Wii U is one of Nintendo’s worst-selling consoles of all time, nearly bankrupting the company. When the Nintendo Switch came along and proved successful, Nintendo found an opportunity to port most of the Wii U exclusives; such was the case with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Players can select an array of racers and embark on trials, cups, tournaments, and battles. This game offers a large range of courses and races to compete in online, single-player, or couch co-op.

Every Mario game is fun, but there is a different level of enjoyability that comes with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because of the number of levels, customizability, characters, and mechanical depth. The intricate design of the courses made it so they not only look impressive, but also offer a wide variety of surprises, routes, and fun. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is chaotic and endlessly replayable, highlighting its prestige as one of the most essential Nintendo video games.

‘Super Mario Bros.’ (1985)

Mario in a level in Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is arguably the best 2D platformer in the franchise according to modern-day standards, but there is no more iconic and legendary game than the first Super Mario Bros. Very similar to every Mario game, the titular plumber travels throughout the Mushroom Kingdom, jumping on Koopas and going to the wrong castle in order to find and rescue Princess Peach, who has been captured by the evil King Koopa, Bowser.

It may not be the best Nintendo video game, but that is only because the Mario franchise has evolved into bigger things. Super Mario Bros. changed the way gaming is handled, partly because it single-handedly saved the industry with its popularity. Even if it is dated, Super Mario Bros. still holds up as an influential classic with game design 101 techniques that define the franchise and industry.

‘Super Mario Galaxy’ (2007)

This list has proven that Mario has a plethora of incredible franchises, from Mario Party to Mario sports games. However, when it is all said and done, nothing beats a 3D Mario platformer, and the best of that bunch is undoubtedly Super Mario Galaxy. After Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach, Mario sets off on a planet-hopping quest around the galaxy in order to find her. With the help of Rosalina, he can travel around the cosmos and rescue Peach before it is too late.

Every 3D Mario platformer is essential, but Super Mario Galaxy is a step above the rest, remaining a nostalgic icon that innovated an already flawless franchise. When it comes to Mario, Super Mario Galaxy should be the first game that comes to mind simply because of its profound beauty, gameplay innovation, and representation of the character. The Red Plumber has never played better than in this game, proving it isn’t just the best Mario game, but one of the most fun video games of all time.

Evan Rachel Wood Shades Practical Magic 2 Cast Bar Joey King

Published

After Practical Magic’s Evan Rachel Wood was replaced by Joey King in the film’s sequel, Wood has thrown shade at the original cast and crew.

“I really appreciated Joey King reaching out to me because no one who worked on the original film did. She’s a sweetheart,” Wood, 38, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, September 1. The jab comes after Wood’s 1998 role as one of Sandra Bullock’s Sally Owens’ daughters, Kylie Owens, was recast with King, 27, replacing her in the upcoming Practical Magic 2.

King had told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere of Practical Magic 2 on Monday, August 31, that she’d shared a “lovely” conversation with Wood in light of the casting switch-up.

“I just was so appreciative of the support that she showed to me and to the rest of the cast. She is so talented and so beautiful and she made this role so special when she was a young girl,” King told the outlet. “I feel so grateful to be able to play Kylie at this age but I love Evan so much and I’m so appreciative of her kind words and the exchange that her and I shared.”

Evan Rachel Wood shot down speculation of her return to the Practical Magic universe. The actress, 37, posted a statement via her Instagram Stories on Friday, July 11 clearing up any rumors surrounding her potential return for the sequel. “I am getting asked about this a lot, so I’ll just clear it up now,” she […]

Wood revealed in July 2025 that she wouldn’t be returning for the sequel amid confirmed reappearances from the film’s leads, Bullock, 62, and Nicole Kidman.

Sharing the news via her Instagram Stories at the time, Wood wrote, “I am getting asked about this a lot, so l’ll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the Practical Magic sequel. l offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.”

In July, Wood expanded her take on the casting redirection during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I read the book and it seems like they’re not following the book,” Wood told the outlet earlier this year. “I think in the book it would have made sense to bring me back; I think in the way they’re redoing it and approaching it, it didn’t make sense.”

Wood’s Practical Magic costar, Alexandra Artrip, was also omitted from the sequel with Maisie Williams replacing her as Kylie’s sister, Antonia Owens.

The sequel’s director, Susanne Bier, told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday that a recasting was necessary due to creating a “certain age group” in the sequel. She told the outlet, “In the story, they’re just, like, literally out of college, and with Joey and Maisie it just felt completely right.”

Joining Bullock and Kidman, 59, in reprising their original roles, Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing are back as the witchy aunts of the leads’ sibling characters.

10 Genuinely Perfect Action Thrillers, Ranked

Published

on

Cary Grant and Eve Marie Saint as Roger and Eve in a train aisle, staring towards the camera

Action and thriller work so well together because tension needs momentum, and a good thriller already runs on momentum before a single punch gets thrown. The action gives you the release, the thriller gives you the dread leading up to it, and when a movie nails both, you stop noticing the runtime entirely.

Every one of the films on this list earns its place due to their brilliant and actual character work first, so by the time things blow up or a chase kicks off, you’re invested in who survives it and who doesn’t. Let’s get into some of the best action thrillers that figured out exactly how to balance both halves of their own name.

‘North by Northwest’ (1959)

Cary Grant and Eve Marie Saint as Roger and Eve in a train aisle, staring towards the camera

Image via MGM

This one’s from 1959, and it’s actually one of the funnier movies on this list, which nobody really brings up. Roger Thornhill (Cary Grant) gets mistaken for a spy who doesn’t even exist, some guy just says the wrong name in a hotel lobby, and now a bunch of people are trying to kill him over it. Alfred Hitchcock keeps slipping dry one-liners into scenes where people are actively trying to kill Thornhill, jokes right in the middle of a chase, which is a strange thing to pull off and he does it anyway.

The crop-duster scene is the one everyone remembers. It’s just an open cornfield, nowhere to hide, and a plane trying to run one guy down in broad daylight, no music playing under it at all. Eve Kendall (Eva Marie Saint) keeps you guessing about whose side she’s on right up until the end, and by the time it’s over, half this plot doesn’t actually hold up if you think about it for more than a minute. I still don’t care. I’ve watched it probably ten times.

‘The French Connection’ (1971)

Gene Hackman grits his teeth behind the wheel of a car in The French Connection

Image via 20th Century Fox

I like this one, but I get why some people bounce off it, the main guy is just not likable. Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) is paranoid, reckless, and honestly kind of a bully to everyone around him, including people just trying to help him do his job. The movie never tries to fix that either, which I actually respect.

William Friedkin shot it on real New York streets without bothering to get all the permits, and you can tell, the car chase under the elevated train tracks still looks dangerous because it basically was. Buddy Russo (Roy Scheider) is the calmer partner trying to keep Doyle from doing something stupid, and the ending just stops cold, no resolution at all, which was a strange choice for 1971.

8

‘The Fugitive’ (1993)

Harrison Ford as Dr. Kimble looking at a prosthetic arm in The Fugitive
Harrison Ford as Dr. Kimble in The Fugitive
Image via Warner Bros. Pictures

This is comfort food to me, honestly, I’ve seen it a bunch of times and it never gets old. A guy gets wrongly convicted of killing his own wife, and the only reason he even gets a shot at proving it is a bus crash that frees him completely by accident. Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) spends the rest of the movie hunting the real killer, while Marshal Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones) hunts him right back, and neither one of them is really the bad guy here.

Andrew Davis directed it, and the dam jump is the stunt everyone remembers, but what actually makes this movie work is how tight the plotting is. Every little clue Kimble finds actually pays off later, nothing’s just there for the sake of it, so you hardly find any loophole. Jones won an Oscar for this, and honestly it’s deserved, that role could’ve been forgettable in a worse script.

7

‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ (1991)

The T-800 aiming a rifle while John Connor sits in front of him in Terminator 2: Judgment Day
The T-800 aiming a rifle while John Connor sits in front of him in Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Image via Tri-Star Pictures

This one’s better than the original, mostly because of how much bigger it swings without dropping what made the first movie good. The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) comes back, except now he’s protecting the kid instead of hunting his mom, and that flip is honestly why I like this version of the character more. James Cameron built the real danger this time around the T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a liquid metal killer who just keeps reforming no matter what hits him.

Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) comes back much harder and more paranoid, and her storyline, trying to stop a war she already knows is coming, gives the movie real stakes underneath all the action. The effects still look good today too, which says a lot, and the truck chase down the flood channel is still one of the best action sequences anyone has ever seen.

Your Partner Has Been Assigned
Your Perfect Partner Is…

Your answers have pointed to one action hero above all others. This is the person built to have your back — for better or considerably, spectacularly worse.

Rambo

Your partner doesn’t talk much, doesn’t need to, and will have assessed every threat in your immediate environment before you’ve finished your first sentence. John Rambo is not a man of plans or politics — he is a force of nature shaped by survival, loyalty, and a capacity for endurance that goes beyond anything training can produce. He will not leave you behind. He has never left anyone behind who deserved to come home. What you get with Rambo is the most capable, most quietly ferocious partner imaginable — one who has been through things that would have broken anyone else, and who chose to keep going anyway. You’ll never need to ask if he has your back. You’ll just know.

James Bond

Your partner will arrive perfectly dressed, perfectly briefed, and with a cover story so convincing it’ll take you a moment to remember what’s actually true. James Bond is the most professionally dangerous person in any room he enters — and the most disarmingly charming, which is the point. He operates in a world of layers, where nothing is what it appears and every advantage is used without apology. You’ll never be bored. You’ll occasionally be furious. But when it matters — when the mission is genuinely on the line and the margin for error has collapsed to nothing — Bond is exactly the partner you want. He has survived things that have no business being survivable. He does it with style. That is not nothing.

Indiana Jones

Your partner will know the history, the language, the cultural context, and exactly why the thing everyone else is ignoring is actually the most important thing in the room. Indiana Jones is brilliant, reckless, and occasionally impossible — but he is also one of the most resourceful, most genuinely knowledgeable partners you could find yourself beside. He approaches every situation with a scholar’s eye and a brawler’s instinct, which is an unusual combination and a remarkably effective one. He hates snakes and gets personally attached to objects of historical significance, both of which will slow you down at least once. It doesn’t matter. What Indy brings is irreplaceable — and the adventures you’ll have together will be the kind people write books about. Assuming you survive them.

John McClane

Your partner was not supposed to be here. He does not have the right equipment, the right information, or anything approaching the right odds. He has a sarcastic remark and an absolute refusal to accept that the situation is as bad as it looks. John McClane is the greatest accidental hero in the history of action cinema — a man whose superpower is stubbornness, whose contingency plan is improvisation, and whose capacity to absorb punishment and keep moving would be alarming if it weren’t so useful. He will complain the entire time. He will make it significantly more chaotic than it needed to be. And he will absolutely, unconditionally, without question come through when it counts. Yippee-ki-yay.

Ethan Hunt

Your partner has already run seventeen scenarios by the time you’ve finished reading the briefing, and the plan he’s settled on involves at least two things that should be physically impossible. Ethan Hunt operates at the absolute edge of human capability — technically, physically, and intellectually — and he brings the same relentless precision to protecting his partners that he brings to dismantling organisations that shouldn’t exist. He is not easy to know and he will never fully tell you everything. But he will carry the weight of the mission so completely, so absolutely, that your job is simply to trust him — and the remarkable thing is that trusting him always turns out to be the right call. The mission will be impossible. He will complete it anyway.

‘Heat’ (1995)

Al Pacino holding a rifle in 'Heat'

There’s a code the thief at the center of this one lives by, never get attached to anything you can’t walk away from in thirty seconds flat, and that discipline is what everyone wants in their real life being honest. Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) is always one step ahead of Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino), a detective whose own personal life is falling apart just as badly as any criminal’s.

Michael Mann shoots that diner scene where the two of them finally sit down together so quietly and calmly that it almost feels anticlimactic, until you notice how much they’re saying to each other without raising their voices. The bank heist shootout downtown is loud and chaotic, and you can still follow exactly what’s happening at every second, which most action scenes can’t pull off.

5

‘The Dark Knight’ (2008)

Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight.
Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight.

Everyone already loves this movie, and I’m not adding it here just because it’s popular, I actually think it holds up. Most villains still want something specific, money, power, revenge, but the Joker (Heath Ledger) just wants to watch the whole city fall apart for no reason at all. Ledger’s performance hits harder knowing it was one of his last, and I don’t think that’s just hindsight talking.

Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) gets the saddest storyline in the whole trilogy, going from the city’s actual hope to Two-Face over the course of one movie, and Christopher Nolan spends more time on that fall than on Batman himself. Gordon (Gary Oldman) holds things together while everyone around him gets compromised, and the truck-flip stunt downtown, done with almost no CGI, still looks more real than most action scenes made today.

4

‘Sicario’ (2015)

Benicio Del Toro as Alejandro aiming a gun in Sicario.

Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) is an FBI agent who actually follows procedure, and that turns into a serious liability the moment she’s surrounded by people who decided a long time ago that procedure doesn’t apply to them. Denis Villeneuve shoots the empty desert roads and silent border convoys with a lot of dread, so nothing in this movie ever feels like a break from what’s coming.

Alejandro (Benicio del Toro) and Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) both bend rules whenever it’s convenient for the mission, something Kate can’t bring herself to do, and the movie eventually makes it clear that her honesty is exactly what gets her used by both of them. It’s a bleak, cold movie about a war nobody involved actually believes can be won.

‘The Raid: Redemption’ (2011)

An entire apartment building offers free rent to any criminal who is willing to fight for the crime lord running it, which tells you immediately how bad things are about to get for the rookie cop who just walked in. Rama (Iko Uwais) has to survive one floor at a time, and Gareth Evans built the fight choreography around pencak silat, an Indonesian martial art that makes every hallway brawl look inventive and brutal.

Tama (Ray Sahetapy) is the crime lord who is controlling the building, and he barely leaves his own apartment, since the henchmen he sends after Rama do plenty of damage on their own. There’s almost no plot padding either, no long dialogue scenes, no subplots slowing anything down, just escalating fights that keep finding new ways to top the one before it, stripped down to just motion and consequence.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ (2015)

Tom Hardy driving in Mad Max: Fury Road

The person actually driving this story isn’t the guy whose name is in the title, it’s the one-armed rig driver who decides, almost on a whim, to smuggle a warlord’s five captive wives across the desert. Furiosa (Charlize Theron) carries the movie more than Max (Tom Hardy) does, and George Miller was seventy years old when he built almost the entire two-hour chase using real vehicles and real stunt performers instead of CGI.

Nux (Nicholas Hoult), one of the warlord’s fanatical soldiers, switches sides about halfway through, and the shift happens gradually enough that it never reads as a cheap twist thrown in for shock value. The movie barely explains its own backstory out loud either, letting costumes, vehicle design, and background details do that work instead, without a single line of exposition.

‘Die Hard’ (1988)

Bruce Willis, playing John McClane, crawls through a duct with a lighter in Die Hard.
Bruce Willis, playing John McClane, crawls through a duct with a lighter in Die Hard.
Image via 20th Century Studios

John McClane (Bruce Willis) shows up barefoot to his estranged wife’s office Christmas party just hoping to patch things up, and instead gets trapped in a high-rise once a group of thieves posing as terrorists take the whole building hostage. He bleeds, gets exhausted, cuts his feet on broken glass, and keeps talking to himself just to stay calm, which is exactly why the character never feels like a typical invincible action hero.

Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), in his very first film role, plays the villain with so much calm, articulate menace that basically every action movie villain since has been measured against him in some way. John McTiernan kept the whole story contained to one building and one night, without any subplots stretching outside it, and that restraint is a big reason nothing since has really matched it.

Tupac Fans Turn To Diddy After Keefe D Guilty Verdict

Published

on

Tupac Shakur performing

Duane “Keefe D” Davis has been found guilty in the murder of Tupac Shakur, and some fans are already asking whether the case ends with him. As others celebrated the verdict as a long-overdue win for Tupac, attention is now shifting to Sean “Diddy” Combs and the questions that have followed the 1996 shooting for years.

Tupac’s family has also addressed the outcome, calling the decades-in-the-making verdict “not the end of the story” and vowing to keep his legacy alive.

The guilty verdict against Duane “Keefe D” Davis has reignited public speculation about Sean “Diddy” Combs, with viewers flooding social media with demands for investigators to take a closer look at the music mogul.

Under a YouTube video covering the verdict, one commenter wrote, “Hold puffy accountable,” while another declared, “Give them DIDDY NOW.” A third simply asked, “AND diddy????” Others went further, alleging Combs knew more about Tupac’s 1996 killing or should face scrutiny over long-running claims surrounding the case.

Those accusations remain allegations and were not established by the verdict against Davis.

While some viewers looked beyond the verdict, plenty of others treated Keefe D’s conviction as a long-awaited moment for Tupac and his family.

“Finally, better late than never,” one commenter wrote. Another congratulated the Shakur family and called the outcome “a bit of Justice, 4 2pac!!”

Others were even more emphatic. “JUSTICE!!!! That took way too long. RIP Pac,” one reaction read, while another declared, “Justice has finally arrived” nearly three decades after the shooting.

The relief was mixed with sadness over how much time had passed. One fan said it was painful that Tupac’s mother did not live to see the day, but expressed hope that the family could now have some closure. Another simply wrote, “Finally lay this all to rest.”

Long before his conviction, Keefe D gave investigators his own account of who pulled the trigger on Tupac. During a recorded 2008 interview played for jurors, Davis placed his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, in the back seat of the white Cadillac involved in the shooting.

As reported by The Blast, Davis said he was sitting up front alongside driver Terrence “Bubble Up” Brown, while DeAndre “Dre” Smith was also in the rear.

According to Davis’ account, he initially had the loaded .40-caliber Glock but could not get a clear shot at the BMW carrying Shakur and Suge Knight. He claimed he passed the weapon into the back seat, where Smith hesitated before Anderson grabbed it.

“He rolled down the window, popped ’em,” Davis told investigators of his nephew.

Tupac’s Family Says Verdict Is ‘Not The End Of The Story’

Tupac’s family is looking beyond the courtroom after waiting nearly 30 years for a conviction in his killing. In a statement following the verdict, spokesperson Mopreme Obafemi thanked the marshals and advocates who supported and protected the family throughout the proceedings.

“While this verdict is decades in the making, this is not the end of the story,” Obafemi said, per ABC News. He added that the family intends to keep Tupac’s legacy and “spirit alive.”

Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa Shakur, was among the relatives and friends in court when the jury returned its decision.

Keefe D’s Lawyer Also Says The Fight Isn’t Over

Keefe D’s legal battle is far from finished, however, with his defense already preparing to challenge the conviction.

Attorney Michael Sanft told NBC News that an appeal was anticipated before jury selection even began. A key issue will be the trial judge’s decision to let jurors hear statements Davis made under a 2008 proffer agreement.

The defense had unsuccessfully tried to keep those statements out, arguing they were “highly prejudicial.” Sanft said Davis spoke to federal investigators believing he could discuss what he knew without those remarks later being used to prosecute him.

Hunter Biden Jokes He’s 48.5 Percent Gay, Likes Masculine

Published

on

Everything to Know About RHOSLC Alum Jen Shah's Legal Drama

Hunter Biden has publicly discussed his sexuality, joking that he’s “48.5 percent gay.”

“Only a little bit,” the youngest son of former President Joe Biden told political reporter Luke Beasley during the August 17 episode of the “Luke Beasley Show” podcast. Hunter, 56, had offered the response when asked by the openly gay host, “Are you gay?” (Joe, 83, was also father to Beau Biden who died in 2015 at the age of 46 from brain cancer.)

Beasley pushed Hunter further with, “More or less than 50 percent?” to which the businessman, author and artist replied, “48.5 percent.”

Hunter then returned to the topic after the pair began to move on. “I want to get back to the gay question. Maybe I’ll take my 48.5 … to 48.7,” he said before changing his mind later. “I just wanted to let you know I’m back … to 48.5 percent gay.”

The comical bit continued with Beasley asking Hunter, “If you were gay, would I be your type?” to which he responded, “No, a little bit more masculine would be my type, if I was gay.”

Hunter married Melissa Cohen in 2019, two years after divorcing his first wife, Kathleen Buhle. He shares three daughters with Buhle and a son, born in March 2020, with Cohen. In Buhle’s 2022 memoir, “If We Break: A Memoir of Marriage, Addiction and Healing,” she wrote about her former husband’s addictions and multiple infidelities amid other mental health struggles that impacted their family.

In June, Hunter took to X to mark seven years of sobriety. “7 years sober today,” he wrote via the platform on June 1. “Thank you to everyone who has walked this road with me.”

Hunter’s podcast appearance comes after he recently claimed multiple times that American politics is filled with closeted sexuality. “Everybody knows there is this closeted gay mafia, largely Republican, that exists in Washington, D.C.,” Biden said during a July 18 appearance on the “I’ve Had It” podcast.

He continued, “Their whole lives, they’ve been closeted and so you have this … blackened heart by the fact that you can’t be who you want to be, so you take it out on everybody else.”

Four days later, the July 22 episode of “The Don Lemon Show” podcast saw him discussing his theory again. “I know this to be true. There is a contingency of … gay Republican men who are closeted and have an enormous amount of self-hate, I believe,” Hunter claimed. “And we all know who they are. In [Washington] D.C.. We all know who they are.”

Aaliyah’s Cousin Asks For $20M To Settle Family Legal Dispute

Published

on

Aaliyah

Aaliyah’s family legal battle has taken an expensive new turn, with her cousin Jomo Hankerson reportedly putting a $20 million price tag on ending his dispute with his father, Barry Hankerson. The staggering figure emerged as the two continue fighting over money tied to music assets involving the late singer and several other major artists.

Jomo reportedly informed his father’s legal team that he would settle his claims for $20 million. If Barry believes that amount is excessive, Jomo’s side wants him to hand over financial records related to the music at the center of their dispute.

The eight-figure demand comes after The Blast previously reported on the bitter father-son battle and Barry’s explosive allegations concerning the circumstances surrounding Aaliyah’s final trip.

This amount is significantly higher than the damages that were discussed when the lawsuit first began.

Jomo sued his father and Blackground Records at the beginning of this year, by alleging that Barry owes him money from a previous settlement that involved valuable music rights. In response, Barry called out his son’s claims and proceeded to countersue.

However, reports confirm that the latest correspondence between both parties revealed the amount Jomo believes will help resolve their brawl once and for all.

The outlet reported that Jomo’s representatives communicated the $20 million settlement position to Barry’s side as the dispute over how much money is actually owed continues.

Presently, no agreement has taken place, and it is unclear if Barry will be willing to comply with his son’s demands.

Jomo Hankerson Demands Financial Records If His Father Rejects The Proposed Amount

Jomo is reportedly offering his father another option if he believes $20 million is too much. According to the legal correspondence obtained by TMZ, he wants Barry to turn over financial documents connected to the music assets involved in the lawsuit if he disputes the size of the settlement demand.

That request goes directly to one of the major issues behind Jomo’s case.

As The Blast previously reported, Jomo claims his father breached an earlier settlement concerning recording masters and music publishing rights. He also alleges that the agreement entitled him to 12 percent of proceeds generated from the relevant music assets.

Furthermore, he accused Barry of using Blackground Records to conceal money and create unrelated expenses that allegedly reduced the amount he received.

The disagreement over the finances means access to accounting records could become particularly important as Jomo attempts to establish how much money was generated and what portion, if any, he is entitled to receive.

For now, his $20 million settlement proposal suggests the divide between father and son remains substantial.

The Dispute Involves Music From Aaliyah And Several Major Artists

In earlier reports, Jomo’s claims were not only concerning recording masters and publishing rights for Aliyah, but also other artists like DMX, Timbaland, and Toni Braxton. This collection could explain the increase in the financial stakes.

Additionally, Jomo claimed that he owned a percentage of the proceeds from these assets, which was never given to him.

In his suit, he initially asked for more than $1.2 million in damages. Now, his revised settlement amount only shows how much value he believes his stake in the music assets holds.

Although Barry has continued to dispute these allegations against him, Jomo is not relenting in his claims. The dispute between the family members has now added another complicated chapter to Aliyah’s music catalog. According to reports, the majority of her music was not available on major streaming services for many years.

Barry Hankerson Has Denied His Son’s Claims And Fired Back

Barry has challenged both his son’s allegations and the validity of the settlement agreement Jomo is relying on. As The Blast previously reported, Barry claims the settlement is invalid s. because it was allegedly executed under fraudulent circumstances. He has also accused his son of threatening to release previously unheard Aaliyah music if his financial demands were not met.

Still, Jomo denies wrongdoing. Things became even more personal with the family feud after Barry made a separate allegation concerning Aaliyah’s final trip back in 2001.

According to Barry, his son had been responsible for coordinating travel connected to the late singer’s music video shoot. He alleged that Jomo failed to perform that responsibility, a claim that Jomo has since denied.

Aaliyah’s Music Has Been At The Center Of Family Tension Before

Barbie pays homage to late “Princess of R&B” Aaliyah with doll released on what would have been her 46th birthday

This current lawsuit comes after years of public discussion about the control and availability of Aaliyah’s music. For years, a large portion of the beloved singer’s catalog was unavailable on major streaming services. That changed back in 2021 when Blackground Records began digitally releasing several of her major projects.

At the time, Barry publicly acknowledged several individuals who were integral to Aaliyah’s career and legacy. Interestingly, among those saluted was Jomo, whom he thanked for his contribution to the project.

Years later, father and son are now sitting on opposite sides of a lawsuit involving music assets connected to Aaliyah and other major performers. As their dispute continues, Jomo’s $20 million proposal apparently represents the price he is willing to accept to settle his claims.

Brandi Glanville Likes LeAnn Rimes More Than Her Ex

Caroline Manzo Sues Bravo Over Alleged Sexual Harassment During 'Ultimate Girl's Trip'

Brandi Glanville and LeAnn Rimes have a complicated history, having been brought together by Eddie Cibrian, Glanville’s ex-husband and Rimes’ longtime partner. The singer’s affair with Cibrian contributed to the end of Glanville and Cibrian’s marriage, but the two women have since developed a relationship of their own. Now, Glanville is getting candid about how she really feels about Rimes.

“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Brandi Glanville is offering a glimpse of her dynamic with LeAnn Rimes, her ex-husband’s wife.

In an episode of her podcast, “Unfiltered,” Glanville discussed the news that Farrah Aldjufrie is expecting her first child with partner Zach Goldsmith, and how the latter’s ex reacted positively to the information.

Glanville then said that it’s definitely possible to “develop a friendship” with an ex’s partner. “I like LeAnn more than I like Eddie,” she confessed, adding that Eddie “annoys the f-ck” out of her, and she’s still reminded of the “sh-t” he did.

“She annoys me too, don’t get me wrong, but we actually like each other. I feel like we both like each other more than we like Eddie,” Glanville continued, adding that it took a decade to reach a cordial relationship.

In 2009, eight years into her marriage with Cibrian, Glanville suspected that her husband had been having an affair. Tabloids confirmed her suspicions when Cibrian was photographed with Rimes at a restaurant and motel. The two starred in the TV movie “Northern Lights,” and the singer was also married to Dean Sheremet at that time.

Glanville recalled how devastated she was in an op-ed for The Sun. She remembered visiting Cibrian on the set of his movie and had an inkling there was attraction between the co-stars. After seeing photos of the two in publications, she broke down.

“There was video footage of them kissing over the table. It was devastating. I went straight home, passed out in my closet, cried and cried. He tried to convince me it wasn’t real but I knew it was over,” she wrote.

Glanville and Cibrian agreed to counselling after the cheating scandal, and the latter said he was done with the affair. Later, however, she found out that her husband was still seeing Rimes behind her back while they were attempting to fix their marriage.

“I couldn’t turn on the TV without seeing something about them. LeAnn had taken over my life and I didn’t have a voice anymore,” Glanville said. At one point, she saw her son sitting on the singer’s lap at a soccer game, which sent her into a rage. She approached her, grabbed her son, and said, “I will f-cking murder you.”

The Podcaster Referred To LeAnn Rimes As Her ‘Good Friend’

Glanville dealt with a mystery illness for a few years that affected her face. Not knowing the cause of the problem also took a toll on her mental health. As The Blast previously reported, she finally got a diagnosis and provided a positive update in 2025.

The year before, Glanville discussed her experience on her podcast and shared that Rimes supported her through her ordeal, even calling her a “really good friend.”

“LeAnn and I always bonded over skincare. It’s funny because she always writes on my present, ‘love Lea,’ not ‘Lea and Eddie.’ She clearly bought it for me, it’s from her,” she said, talking about the gift she got when Cibrian and Rimes visited her at the hospital.

Brandi Glanville Is Co-Parenting With Her Ex And The Singer

Glanville and Rimes have made great strides in their relationship despite their turbulent past. Cibrian and the singer tied the knot in 2011 but do not have kids of their own. However, Rimes is involved in co-parenting Glanville’s children, Jake and Mason, with Cibrian.

In 2019, Glanville opened up about her “awkward family” and her dynamic with her ex and his wife. “We have to be a unit, three of us… That’s all done, but we can all still get along and be friends, and so we are,” she said.
