The pioneering activist and writer Gloria Steinem has died at the age of 92.

On Thursday morning, her spokesperson confirmed that the feminist trailblazer had died “peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by some of the many who loved her” a day earlier.

Paying tribute, they wrote on Instagram: “Gloria’s near-century on earth were years well-lived, and she continued working for equality until the very end.

“Gloria’s greatest gift was her ability to listen to others, to make others feel seen and heard. Her words, actions, and example gave people permission to be their truest selves. Gloria lived true to her independent spirit, always with curiosity and a great sense of humour.”

In the early 1960s, Gloria began her professional journalism career, first making a name for herself with an article highlighting the mistreatment of the so-called Bunnies living at the Playboy mansion.

From there, she covered issues such as abortion and women’s rights in major publications before co-founding the feminist magazine, Ms, in 1972.

Meanwhile, her writing on the subject of the fight for women’s equality made her a pivotal voice in the second-wave feminism movement, and she also lent her voice to a number of other causes, including protesting apartheid in South Africa in the 1980s, campaigning for accessibility to reproductive rights and, more recently, speaking out in support of the trans community.

Her spokesperson’s tribute continued: “She spent her recent years doing the two things she loved most: being in community with others and writing. She has welcomed hundreds of guests into her living room for Talking Circles, a tradition she insisted will continue long after she is no longer with us.

“As Gloria wrote in her forthcoming book, An Unexpected Life, ‘I have now lived for more than fifty years in this brownstone, in rooms that have witnessed lives before mine, and will know others after I am gone’.

“This book, along with her commitment to her home becoming a centre for social justice movements, are among the many gifts Gloria has given the world with the hope they have ripple effects for generations to come. Gloria often quoted the adage: ‘The flap of a butterfly’s wing can change the weather hundreds of miles away’. Gloria loved the tradition of lighting signal fires on hills to light the way to the other side of the mountain. Lighting your own candle for Gloria makes you part of this global and celestial community circle.”

Gloria’s team added that, in lieu of flowers, anyone hoping to pay their respects should make a donation to Gloria’s Foundation, a charitable organisation set up to preserve her New York apartment as a gathering place for social justice organising.

Internet personality Amelia Dimoldenberg has announced she’s bringing her YouTube interview series Chicken Shop Date to an end.

On Thursday morning, the British comedian confirmed that the upcoming episodes of Chicken Shop Date will be her last, more than a decade after launching the format as a column when she was just 17 years old, before turning it into a popular YouTube series.

Since the show exploded in popularity thanks to an appearance from future Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya, who agreed to take part as he was a fan of the series, Amelia has interviewed everyone from Billie Eilish and Cher to Paul Mescal, Andrew Garfield and Sir Paul McCartney, all in the usual chicken shop setting.

“When I was 17, I thought that I might meet the love of my life on a date in a chicken shop,” Amelia said. “Since then, I’ve spent my entire 20s sat across from the most incredible people, people I’d always dreamt of meeting.

“All of them charmed me (some more than others), and I definitely charmed them.”

She continued: “To me, the show is my very own rom-com, and I have loved being able to share it with you. I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found a bit of joy in these episodes.

“I never thought I’d end Chicken Shop Date. I thought maybe it would be a part of my life forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto the next one.

“But before I say goodbye forever, I want to celebrate everything Chicken Shop Date has been for me with you all, and a few final dates… coming very soon.”

A press release also teased that “the final series will be a celebration of everything that has made Chicken Shop Date a cultural phenomenon, with a last line-up of eclectic guests joining Amelia in the chicken shop before she closes this chapter”.

Following Chicken Shop Date’s surge in popularity, Amelia has become an official red carpet and online presenter for the Oscars, and recently made a cameo as herself in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

During an appearance at the Edinburgh TV Festival last month, she teased that she was writing a rom-com about a journalist who falls in love with an actor she’s assigned to interview, as well as a Skins-inspired teen series for the BBC.

Ariana Grande has now completed her Eternal Sunshine world tour after 41 shows in three countries.

On Tuesday night, the Grammy winner ended her 10-night residency at London’s O2 Arena, bringing the tour to an end after three months.

“I just wanted to say thank you so much,” she told her fans towards the end of the night. “This has been an extraordinary experience.

“Thank you for 10 beautiful London shows and for 41 incredible Eternal Sunshine tour shows. This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life and I just wanted to express my gratitude without sobbing completely. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It has been so special.”

She continued: “I’ll cherish this experience always. I have the best fans in the entire world and I always have. I love your outfits, I love your faces, I love seeing you. Thank you for all of your effort and continuing to make this so special.

“I have loved every minute of this with you all and I just wanted to make sure I express how grateful I am. Thank you and I love you so much.”

Ariana had previously indicated that the Eternal Sunshine tour would be the last show of its kind she did “for a long, long, long, long time”, comparing it last year to “one last hurrah – for now”.

Then, following the furore surrounding the release of her Petal music video at the end of July, Ariana’s team issued a statement reiterating that she would be “taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour”.

Her team told People magazine: “[Ariana] looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.

“This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

However, Billboard has reported that she will still take part in promotional activity for her new film Focker-In-Law later this year, as well as continuing her work for her makeup line R.E.M. Beauty.

It was also revealed earlier this year that she would no longer be appearing in a London revival of the musical Sunday In The Park With George, which would have reunited her with former Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.

More recently, Jonathan also confirmed he was pulling out of the production in solidarity with Ariana.

“Ari is one of my dearest friends, and my support for her is unwavering. Marianne is extraordinary and one of my longest collaborators and friends,” he said. “After much consideration, I have decided to also step back from Sunday In The Park With George.

“This brilliant, introspective musical has been a real passion project for me, and I feel incredibly lucky to have shared in its journey with this team.

“Among many things, the story explores the deep connection between George and Dot, a beautiful, devoted pairing, and I so look forward to seeing what the team, and the two actors who will now take on these roles, will create with it.”

Katie Price is remaining tight-lipped about the status of her relationship with her husband Lee Andrews, but she has shared a cryptic message about where her priorities lie.

On Wednesday, it was widely reported that the former glamour model and reality star had filed for divorce after around seven tumultuous months of marriage.

The Sun claimed that Katie had already met with divorce lawyers, after allegedly discovering that her husband had stretched the truth about how much money he’d made in cryptocurrency.

Neither Katie nor Lee has directly addressed the speculation yet, but the Celebrity Big Brother winner did share an Instagram post on Wednesday night alluding to the latest goings on in her personal life.

Alongside a video posted by her son Junior Andre of himself singing with his older brother, Harvey Price, Katie wrote: “Family is my world and who make me smile everyday…”

“That’s my focus,” she added.

Katie made headlines back in January when it was revealed that she and Lee had tied the knot in Dubai, where he is based, just days after meeting for the first time in real life, after first connecting over social media.

In the months that have followed, Lee has reportedly been arrested and detained in Dubai on two separate occasions.

Earlier in the summer, while promoting a Sky documentary series about the ups and downs she’s experienced throughout her life in the public eye, Katie told HuffPost UK: “It’s literally one scandal after another scandal, and another one, and another one, and another one. Even till this day there is a scandal!”

She added: “All the speculation about my life and what’s going on now, none of you have any idea.”

Katie has previously been married three times before, first to Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre, who she met on the third season of I’m A Celebrity and with whom she shares two children, 21-year-old Junior and 19-year-old Princess.

She later married cage fighter Alex Reid and former stripper Kieran Hayler, later having two more children with her third husband, 13-year-old Jett and 12-year-old Bunny.

Katie also has a 24-year-old son, Harvey, from a previous relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke.

Zack Polanski has confirmed he wants to run for Keir Starmer’s old seat.

The Green Party leader announced on Thursday that he wants to be the next MP for the north-west London constituency, Holborn and St Pancras.

He is expected to be chosen by Green members to be their candidate in the crunch by-election next week.

The London Assembly member told the local newspaper Camden New Journal that he hopes to be on the ballot paper in the upcoming by-election, two days after the ex-prime minister announced his resignation.

Polanski told the paper: “This by-election is a chance for this community to make history.”

The Greens have never won a seat in the capital before, but have secured council seats in London and overall control of other boroughs.

“I have lived and worked in this community over many years, I know it well and I love it,” Polanski continued.

“It represents so many of the things that make London so special. I am so excited by the prospect of representing this place in parliament.”

“Holborn and St Pancras has everything that’s the best of our country and so much potential,” the Green leader said.

“But for too long now it’s been held back by governments who have failed to make the changes to improve people’s lives.

“We know that the Greens can win here, and by electing me, voters will have someone who will always fight their corner – never scared of big donors or the party whip.

“Too often Labour has stood up for corporations and big money. I will stand up for people struggling to pay their bills.”

In a post on X, Polanski shared the Camden New Journal article and added: “Labour stands up for corporations and big money. I’ll stand up for people and our communities.”

A date for the by-election has not been confirmed.

Starmer won the historically Labour seat with a comfortable majority at the 2024 general election, but his closest challenger was independent candidate Andrew Feinstein.

However, he hinted this week that he might not run against the Greens.

He said “progressive forces” should “unite in order to deliver an MP who represents us and will work for us”.

“An MP who is the antithesis of everything that Starmer stands for,” Feinstein said.

Polanski’s remarks come after widespread speculation that the high-profile party leader would consider running for the London seat.

Polanski has consistently said he would only think about getting into the Commons if a constituency in the capital came up.

He told HuffPost UK previously that he would also not run against veteran Labour MP Diane Abbott in her constituency of Hackney because he thinks she’s “wonderful”.

Dolly Parton’s niece has opened up about how she and her family are grieving their loss in the wake of the country legend’s death last week at the age of 80.

Jada Star – who, like her late aunt, is a country musician – admitted to ExtraTV earlier this this week that the days since the Jolene singer’s death have been “really difficult”.

She added that her family’s spirits have been boosted by the outpouring of support they’ve received from fans around the world.

“I can’t remember a life without her in it,” said Jada, who is the daughter of Dolly’s younger sister, Freida. “She would also tell us to start drying it up and start trying to get back to work and love each other real hard.”

Dolly’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, broke the news of his aunt’s death in an emotional video shared on social media.

However, it wasn’t until later that day that Dolly’s representatives disclosed her cause of death, noting in a statement that the 11-time Grammy winner had died after a “brief battle with cancer” at a Nashville hospital.

When asked why Dolly – who had a reputation for being forthcoming and accessible to her fans – wanted to remain tight-lipped on her health and recent hospitalisations, Jada noted: “We kind of kept all that stuff real private. She never wanted to worry anybody, so I think it was just a shock on Tuesday.”

Dolly had alluded to unspecified health concerns on social media and in interviews after plans for a 2025 Las Vegas residency were at first postponed, then scrapped altogether.

Just weeks ago, she also backed out of a planned appearance at her Dollywood theme park, later joking that her doctor had “clipped my wings” (referencing the butterfly wings she was seen sporting in a video message) and prohibited her from traveling.

Speaking to People in an interview conducted just four days before her death, Dolly acknowledged she’d been grappling with “some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to” prior to the 2025 death of her husband, Carl Dean.

Still, she reassured fans that she intended to forge ahead with a series of creative projects, including Dolly: A True Original Musical, which is slated to open on Broadway in early 2027.

“Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin,’ I’m still workin’!” she told the outlet. “You know me – as I’ve often said – I’ve dreamed myself into a corner and I still have so many things I want to achieve, so I’m gonna keep on working as long as I can to see everything come to life.”

Last weekend, Jada joined fellow Nashville-based artists Carly Pearce and Jelly Roll in paying tribute to Parton with a celebratory concert at the Grand Ole Opry.

In her ExtraTV appearance, she shared how she intends to keep her aunt’s legacy alive through her own work as a singer-songwriter.

“For me, I’m going to keep writing and I love listening to other people’s stories and I love helping other people learn to write, I think that’s a lot of fun,” she said. “Everything she taught me, I’ll use in everything I do, for sure.”
