After Moses Itauma and Conor Benn both experienced losses when skipping the British title route and heading straight for world title glory, Brown said he wants to go on the “journey”.

Chris Billam-Smith and Lawrence Okolie are two examples of those who have recently held the British cruiserweight title and gone on to win world honours.

Brown now holds the British and Commonwealth titles, and could look to European title-holder Viddal Riley next.

Riley, 29, last fought in April when he secured a unanimous points decision win over former world title challenger Mateusz Masternak.

The Queensberry boss has therefore told IFL TV that he hopes certain changes can be made ahead of Itauma’s comeback ‘very early next year’.

“He’s going to fight very early next year. I’ve spoken to him a few times; he’s actually back in the gym.

“I’m going to sit down with the team next week and we’re going to go through everything. He’s very disappointed because, first of all, he was winning the fight. He knows what he did wrong.

“It’s not rocket science, but there’s got to be some serious changes.”

As for Hrgovic, who he also promotes, Warren maintained his expectation that the 34-year-old will face mandatory challenger Frank Sanchez in due course.

Luke Littler edged his way into the last eight of World Series of Darts Finals with a narrow 10-9 win over Nathan Aspinall amid constant whistling from members in the crowd.

Littler came out on top in a nail-biting last-leg shootout to book a place in the quarter-finals with Jonny Clayton despite missing 22 darts at a double.

Earlier in the match, Aspinall alerted referee Charlie Costorphine to tell members of the crowd to stop whistling, but it continued.

The whistling, which was louder when Littler was at the oche, seemed to throw the ‘Nuke’ off his rhythm as he slipped from 3-1 up to 5-3 down.

Aspinall missed two darts at a double to make it 7-5 and Littler went on to take the next two legs to get back into the contest.

It looked like Littler would take the next leg but the game took another twist as the world champion’s double woes continued, missing two tries at double 15 which allowed Aspinall to level the contest once more at 7-7.

The crowd issues continued and Costorphine again had to remind spectators about their behaviour in the 17th leg just before Aspinall put himself 9-8 to the good and within one leg of becoming the first person to knock Littler out of a Premier event in 329 days.

However, Littler showed his class and reeled off the last two legs and pinned double 20 to book his spot in the final day

After the game, he said: “We know what Nathan is like. He pushed me all the way and that’s what he’s done there yet again, and maybe if he had a better start in previous legs it would be a different game.

“I only played well in the last session. The first two sessions I didn’t feel confident.

“I know my doubling is never going to be 100 per cent perfect. I’ve just got to come back tomorrow and sharpen up.”

Clayton battled back from 6-4 down to beat Motomu Sakai 10-8 and reach the quarter-finals of the competition while Gerwyn Price averaged nearly 98 in a comfortable 10-5 victory over Canadian Jim Long.

Price will face James Wade, who beat Wessel Nijman 10-7, while former world champion Luke Humphries was dumped out of the competition by Dirk van Duijvenbode, losing 10-9, and he will face Gian van Veen.

Biltmore Championship Round 4 tee times: What to know

The first year of the Biltmore Championship has seen low scores and two separate dream scenarios materialize.

But only one can come to fruition.

Twenty-five-year-old Neal Shipley struggled during his rookie season on the PGA Tour. He missed nine of his first 10 cuts and made just eight of 20 cuts overall. He did not post a top-25 finish and entered the FedEx Cup Fall at 183 in the FedEx Cup standings, facing an uphill climb to get inside the top 100 to keep his card.

But after three brilliant rounds, including a sizzling 62 on Friday, Shipley enters Sunday’s final round with a one-shot lead, just 18 holes away from a two-year exemption and a spot in the Championship Series in 2028.

However, the man Shipley leads by one, Ben Kohles, is hoping to engineer a dream weekend of his own. The 36-year-old Kohles has been hunting his first-career PGA Tour win for years but has been unable to get over the final hurdle on Sunday. Kohles’ last opportunity to get his first PGA Tour win came at the John Deere Classic, where he led with one hole to play but found the water on the 72nd hole and ultimately lost to Chris Gotterup.

With tee times pushed up due to thunderstorms, Shipley and Kohles will go off in a threesome alongside Eric Cole at 9:55 a.m. ET.

When asked to recall his fabled sparring session with Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua admitted that he was incentivised to knock ‘The Gypsy King’ out.

The two British heavyweights are now due to collide later this year, having completed their respective warm-up fights in July and seemingly agreed to a date and location.

Fury fulfilled his end of the bargain by stopping a 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in seven rounds, while Joshua suffered two first-round knockdowns before halting Kristian Prenga in the following frame.

Based on these performances, most will make Fury a sizable favourite but, in reality, neither fighter is thought to be anywhere near his prime.

Rather, the best time for them to collide would have been around five or six years ago, when Fury was the WBC champion and ‘AJ’ had reclaimed his unified crown.

It was back in 2010, though, that the pair first encountered one another, with Fury in the development phase of his pro career and Joshua having just won an ABA title.

Back then, Joshua had read in a copy of Boxing News magazine that Fury was offering a glittering prize to whoever could knock him out in sparring and, just as luck would have it, he was presented with an opportunity to do so at his amateur boxing club.

In an interview reposted by The Stomping Ground, Joshua revealed that he did pursue the knockout but was ultimately unsuccessful.

“I remember reading: Tyson Fury’s going around different gyms sparring and, if anyone can knock him out, they get to keep his Rolex.

“I’m hungry … I was hungrier back then. So I remember him popping in the gym, and then coach says, ‘All right, Josh – you’re sparring’. Me and him just had a straight war, so what I learned about Fury was that we’ve got the same heart – we’re both fighting people and we go to war.

“I didn’t manage to knock him out; we both hit each other with some big shots.”

If Joshua and Fury do indeed meet later this year, fans will soon discover whether ‘AJ’ could earn the knockout in a professional environment.

Asian Games 2026 Live Updates: India’s campaign at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will gather pace on Sunday, September 20, with athletes competing across several sports. India will be in action in teqball, shooting, cricket, hockey, badminton, table tennis and wushu. There will also be medal opportunities for the Indian contingent.

Quimcy Dsouza has two medal chances

Teqball player Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza will have two opportunities to win a medal for India on Sunday. She will first compete in the women’s singles bronze-medal match against Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto. Quimcy will then team up with Mohamed Anas Imran Beg in the mixed doubles bronze-medal match. They will face Vietnam’s Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen and Gia Nghi Trinh.

The Indian pair had lost to the Vietnamese combination in the quarterfinals. They will now have another chance to finish on the podium.

Shooters eye medals

India will also have medal hopes in the women’s 10m air rifle competition. Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod will compete in the event. The individual qualification and women’s team medal event will begin at 6:15 AM IST. The individual final is scheduled for later in the morning, subject to qualification.

India women face Bangladesh in semifinal

The Indian women’s cricket team will take on Bangladesh in the second semifinal of the women’s T20 competition at 10:30 AM IST. India will look to reach the final and continue its bid to defend the gold medal it won at the 2022 Asian Games.

Hockey teams begin campaigns

India’s men’s and women’s hockey teams will also start their Asian Games campaigns on Sunday. The Indian women’s team will face Uzbekistan in its Pool B match at 7:30 AM IST. The men’s team will then take on Indonesia in its Pool A opener at 11:30 AM IST.

Badminton, table tennis and wushu

India’s table tennis teams will also be busy, with the women’s team facing Indonesia and Singapore, while the men’s team will take on Indonesia and Iran in their group matches.
