Cagliari will be without Italy international Michael Folorunsho for a month following surgery after a freak injury, so could go for Fiorentina’s Hans Nicolussi Caviglia.
The Sardinian club released a statement confirming that Folorunsho has gone under the knife to suture a lesion to the collateral medial ligament in the right knee.
The operation was performed by knee specialist Professor Pier Paolo Mariani at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome.
He is expected to be out of action for at least a period of four weeks. It was a bizarre injury, as Folorunsho came sliding in to score a goal against Pisa and during the tap-in he kept going, crashing into the upright.
He tried to continue, but was visibly hobbling and limped off a few minutes later.
Cagliari are already missing Andrea Belotti and Mattia Felici for the rest of the season following anterior cruciate ligament tears.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they could try to bring in reinforcements in January, targeting Fiorentina’s Nicolussi Caviglia.
He is one of several players ready to leave a Viola team in crisis during the transfer window.
