Juventus are cooling their interest in a possible return for Federico Chiesa, with the operation currently on hold as doubts grow over costs and squad balance.

In recent weeks, the idea of bringing Chiesa back to Turin from Liverpool has generated plenty of debate among Juventus supporters.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, via IlBianconero, momentum behind the deal has slowed significantly, with talks entering what has been described as a “cold weekend” between the parties.

Door not shut on Chiesa return but Juventus watching closely

That does not mean the door is closed entirely. Juventus are aware the situation could evolve later in the window, but for now there is no immediate push to accelerate negotiations.

The main obstacle is financial. Liverpool are asking for significant guarantees, either through a permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy, while Chiesa’s salary would also represent a major commitment.

From Juventus’ perspective, the overall investment is prompting reflection. Chiesa would arrive as competition rather than a guaranteed starter, with the club already heavily invested in Kenan Yıldız.

For a player who would not necessarily be first choice, the combined cost of transfer fee and wages is giving the hierarchy pause.

As things stand, Juventus are weighing up whether the emotional appeal of a Chiesa return justifies the economic outlay, or whether resources would be better directed elsewhere as the market develops.
