Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge 3 Year Old Daughter Is Finally Home After 18 Days in the Hospital

UPDATE — 4/13/26, 12:40 p.m. ET

Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge’s 3-year-old daughter, Maya, is “finally home” after spending 18 days in the hospital.

“What started off as thinking it was a stomach bug turned into something so much bigger. My baby is a fighter, the strongest little human ever,” Taylor, 31, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, April 12. “She’s still healing but we are finally back in California.”

The Teen Mom alum noted that there’s a “lot to unpack,” but for now she and Cory, 35, are just “grateful” they were able to bring their “baby home.”

“Thank you Cook Children’s CICU in Fort Worth, TX, for saving my baby’s life. And thank you god 🙏🏻,” Taylor added.

Cory also shared an update with fans after Maya — who was born with a rare congenital heart defect called tricuspid atresia, which required two open-heart surgeries — returned home over the weekend.

He noted via Instagram on Monday, April 13, that his “worst nightmare became a reality” when he got a call saying Maya was being airlifted to Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, while he was halfway across the globe.

“Watching my daughter fight through this has been the hardest thing I’ve ever faced. These days [have] tested everything in me,” Cory shared. “Fear, pain, uncertainty… all of it. But through it all, Maya never stopped being strong. She reminded me what courage really looks like. I’ll carry this forever. I’ve never been more proud to be her dad.”

Cory revealed that although Maya is home, it is “just the beginning” of his daughter’s latest health journey.

“She’s already faced two open-heart surgeries, and now we’re here again — this time fighting for two of her most vital organs, her lungs and her heart,” he wrote, noting he would go into more detail “soon.”

Cory added, “I’m just happy that we got released from the hospital and got back to California safely. Again my message for years has been this, HEALTH IS WEALTH & as long as you’re healthy you’re the richest man or woman in the world! ❤️✊🏽.”

Original story below:

Teen Mom alums Taylor Selfridge and Cory Wharton have been facing a difficult time as their 3-year-old daughter, Maya, has remained in the hospital for over two weeks.

“16 days in the hospital … this is the longest stay/most stressful one we’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot,” Taylor, 31, shared in her Snapchat caption on Tuesday, April 7, alongside a photo of Maya playing on her tablet. “She’s getting much better hoping to get out of here soon. It’s a long story and I’ll give you guys an update when we get back home.”

Maya was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect called tricuspid atresia at birth, a condition that requires a series of open-heart surgeries to manage oxygen flow. Maya successfully underwent her final scheduled procedure in October 2025.

“It’s been a lot. We all need therapy after this … But she’s doing good,” Taylor said in another video update posted on Snapchat. “She’s doing so much better. You guys have no clue. We’re hoping to get out of here this week.”

Taylor made sure her daughter felt comfortable and supported, remaining by her side as she rested during her hospital stay.

“You want to go see the puppies?” the influencer asked Maya, revealing that her daughter was no longer on oxygen and finally able to leave the room, “so we’re moving and grooving.”

Taylor said she would share more at a later time after fans expressed their concerns after she appeared to be MIA on social media. Furthermore, several spoiler accounts for The Challenge reported that Cory, 35, had flown home while filming season 42 in Thailand.

Cory’s ex — and fellow Teen Mom alum — Cheyenne Floyd also noted that she was watching Cory and Taylor’s cat while they were handling a personal situation in an update shared via social media, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup. (Cory shares daughter Ryder, who just turned 9 on Tuesday, with Cheyenne, 33, and daughters Mila, 5, and Maya with Taylor.)

Back in October, Taylor shared a post celebrating her daughter’s successful heart surgery.

It’s been quite a journey for the cast of Teen Mom. The series launched in December 2009 as the first spinoff from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. The debut season followed the lives of Maci Bookout, Catelynn Lowell, Amber Portwood and Farrah Abraham, who all experienced very different journeys during their teen pregnancies. On season 5, […]

“Maya had her final open heart surgery called the Fontan 🫀 before the Fontan her blood was mixing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood, which caused her to have low oxygen to her lungs,” she shared, noting that Maya would hopefully see a drastic improvement from 75-80 percent naturally for oxygen flow to the low 90s as her body adapted.

“That being said, we just finished the final surgery that we’ve been waiting for about four years since I was pregnant with her 🥺,” she added. “This will be a forever health issue for her, but she should never need another open heart surgery again and if she does, she will probably be older than me now.”

Tulsa King

Mayor of Kingstown

You are a Dutton — or you might as well be. You understand that some things are worth protecting at any cost, and that the modern world’s indifference to history, to land, to legacy, is not something you’re willing to accept quietly. You lead from the front, you carry your family’s weight without complaint, and when someone threatens what’s yours, you don’t escalate — you finish it. You’re not cruel. But you are absolute. In Yellowstone’s world, that combination of ferocity and loyalty doesn’t make you a villain. It makes you the only thing standing between everything that matters and everyone who wants to take it.

You thrive in the chaos of high-stakes negotiation, where the money is enormous, the margins are thin, and the wrong word in the wrong room can cost everyone everything. You’re a fixer — the person called when a situation is already on fire and needs someone with the nerve to walk into it. West Texas oil country rewards exactly what you are: sharp, adaptable, unsentimental, and absolutely clear-eyed about what people want and what they’ll do to get it. You’re not naive enough to think this world is fair. You’re smart enough to be the one deciding who it’s fair to.

You are a Dwight Manfredi — someone who has served their time, paid their dues, and arrived somewhere unexpected with nothing but their reputation and their wits. You adapt without losing yourself. You build loyalty through respect rather than fear, though you’re not above reminding people that the two aren’t mutually exclusive. Tulsa King is for people who are still standing when everyone assumed they’d be finished — who find, in an unfamiliar place, that they’re more capable than the world gave them credit for. You don’t need a throne. You build one, wherever you happen to land.

You carry the weight of a system that is broken by design, and you do it anyway — because someone has to, and because you’re the only one positioned to do it without the whole thing collapsing. Mike McLusky’s world is for people who are comfortable operating where there are no good options, only less catastrophic ones. You speak every language: law enforcement, criminal, political, human. That fluency makes you invaluable and it makes you a target. You’ve made your peace with both. Mayor of Kingstown belongs to people who understand that keeping the peace is not the same as being at peace — and who do the job regardless.

‘Nightmare Alley’ (2021)

Cate Blanchett in 'Nightmare Alley' Image via Searchlight Pictures

While visionary director Guillermo del Toro is more often celebrated for his fantasy filmmaking, his signature gothic style lends itself seamlessly to the neo-noir crime thriller of Nightmare Alley. The film stars Bradley Cooper as an ambitious carnival man with a talent for manipulation, using his silver tongue to hook up with and form a partnership with a female psychologist (Cate Blanchett) who proves herself to be even more dangerous than he is.

The film features a stacked cast and a lot of del Toro’s classic filmmaking strengths, such as top-notch visual design and worldbuilding, to concoct an exceptional story of greed and humanity amidst the dangerous underground of crime, manipulation, and carnies. Despite a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards, Nightmare Alley is wildly underrated compared to the rest of del Toro’s filmography, a genuine shame considering just how impactful and striking its story and characters are.

‘Bugonia’ (2025)

Bald Emma Stone looking confused in Bugonia Image via ©Focus Features / Courtesy Everett Collection

Adapting and remaking a cult classic South Korean sci-fi black comedy to achieve worldwide mass appeal, Bugonia ramps up the thriller potential of this premise to make a highly tense yet simultaneously endearing and hilarious take on psychotic conspiracy mindsets. The film follows a duo of conspiracy-obsessed young men (Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis) who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company (Emma Stone), believing her to be an alien queen with a secret agenda of destroying the Earth.

Much like many of Yorgos Lanthimos‘s previous films, Bugonia strikes a fine balance between the ruthless, bleak nature of its premise and a striking and unrestrained sense of humor that never lets up, even in the darkest of moments. The film is further elevated by some great performances, constantly having the audience guessing as to the logistical truth of the conspiracy as a whole and the ramifications of whether it is or isn’t true.

‘How to Blow Up a Pipeline’ (2023)

Combining the heightened tension of a heist film with the weight and emotional prospects of its eco-terrorism premise, How to Blow Up a Pipeline fully lives up to its exceptional, instantly engaging title. The film follows a crew of young environmental activists, who, believing there to be no other option in a world where corporations continue to destroy the Earth, take it upon themselves to execute a daring mission to sabotage and destroy an oil pipeline.

Despite being a massively overlooked thriller, How to Blow Up a Pipeline does an exceptional job not just with its central message but in executing a fast-paced, incredibly tense rendition of the classic heist film setup. It sees a wide cast of distinct and memorable characters, each adding their own strengths and personality quirks to this overarching goal, almost acting like a renegade revolutionary version of Ocean’s Eleven.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ (2023)

Since its release in 2014, the original John Wick has stood as a defining pillar of action thriller filmmaking that pushed the genre forward with its stylish and well-crafted choreography. While many other attempted action franchises simply lose steam with subsequent entries, John Wick is one of the rare cases where each sequel manages to be better than the last, with John Wick: Chapter 4 being one of the absolute best action thrillers of the 21st century.

The action is more bombastic and enthralling, the setpieces are highly memorable and each more expressive than the last, and the story does an exceptional job of wrapping up Wick’s long journey of bloodshed and fighting for freedom. Chapter 4 acts as a glorious display of everything that director Chad Stahelski and the rest of the John Wick production team have learned about action filmmaking over the series. It doesn’t lose a second of impact in its nearly 3-hour runtime and is a must-watch for all action thriller fans.

‘Juror #2’ (2024)

Clint Eastwood has been at the forefront of compelling thriller filmmaking for his entire career, whether it be as a leading man in the likes of Dirty Harry or behind the camera for films like Mystic River. However, this Hollywood legend proved that he still has what it takes to create a layered and intelligent thriller in the modern day with Juror #2. This powerful courtroom drama follows a juror who, in the middle of a high-profile murder case, begins to realize that the man on trial is not only innocent, but that he himself is guilty of the murder.

Eastwood’s timeless craft and finesse behind the camera work wonders for this exceptional story of philosophical pain, forcing the audience to question if they themselves would be comfortable condemning an innocent man to save their own life. Juror #2 is not only Eastwood’s best film in decades, but it speaks volumes that his style of thriller filmmaking can still have a sizable impact, being about as perfect a final film as a filmmaking legend could ask for.

5

‘No Other Choice’ (2025)

A black comedy thriller about the difficulties of self-worth in a seemingly impossible job market, No Other Choice sees a desperate family man going to massive extremes to secure a job so that his family can return to their previous luxurious life. Park Chan-wook‘s exceptional class thriller is filled with many of his trademark strengths as one of South Korea’s best thriller directors, further amplified by some striking comedy and a near-perfect lead performance from Lee Byung-hun.

No other thriller in recent memory has been this exceptionally entertaining while still feeling wholly important, striking at the heart of painful experiences caused by the current state of capitalism and impossible-to-navigate job markets. It goes to not only comedic satirical extremes, but also moments of pure tension as the snowball of crimes committed goes well past the point of no return. It’s an exceptional feat of South Korean cinema and arguably the best thriller to come out of the region since Parasite.

4

‘Oppenheimer’ (2023)

Building upon decades’ worth of exceptional thriller filmmaking and standing as what could arguably be considered Christopher Nolan‘s magnum opus, Oppenheimer took the world by storm, becoming one of the most iconic and revered blockbuster thrillers ever. The Oscar-winning biopic amplifies Nolan’s strengths to new heights, utilizing a massive cast of talent at every corner and fully delivering on its promise of mesmerizing, breathtaking visuals.

However, the real strength of the film comes from its pacing and use of tension, not losing any impact despite being a dialogue-focused dramatic thriller with an over 3-hour runtime. It’s a feat of cinematic beauty and perfect pacing that Oppenheimer can maintain its strengths and interest for the entire runtime, keeping audiences captivated and enthralled in its story of power and its looming ramifications. Oppenheimer will only continue to be celebrated more and more in the coming years as one of the defining cinematic achievements of the 2020s.

An insightful and well-paced political thriller about the infighting and battle for power within the upper ranks of the Catholic Church, Conclave follows the world’s topmost bishops converging in Vatican City following the death of the Pope, vying for the spot to be elected as the next pontiff. However, as drama and infighting begin to consume the election process, the ritual’s mediator (Ralph Fiennes) uncovers more and more dirt on his fellow bishops.

Conclave sets itself up with the utmost gravitas and weight for its election and its consequences, which makes it all the more satisfying and effective when this election quickly devolves into maddening infighting and catty gossip from these elderly gentlemen. With a wide array of compelling twists and one of the most shocking yet effective final twists in a recent thriller, Conclave keeps the audience guessing and has them wholly satisfied by its ending.

2

‘Anatomy of a Fall’ (2023)

Sandra Voyter, lying on a sofa in a dark room and hugging her dog in Anatomy of a Fall

A murder-mystery film that places much more emphasis and importance on the process of uncovering the murder over the actual murder itself, Anatomy of a Fall is one of the most intelligent and insightful takes on a murder-mystery thriller to date. The film follows the fallout and court case surrounding the mysterious murder of a man who fell out of his attic window, with his wife (Sandra Hüller) being the prime suspect of this supposed murder. At the center of this case, their blind son is faced with a painful moral dilemma as the sole witness.

Anatomy of a Fall certainly gets a great deal of mileage out of the intricacies and questions surrounding its central death. However, the real strength and brilliance come from how the investigation uncovers the painful difficulties of a relationship where every little thing is picked apart as motivation for murder. It’s not only one of the best murder mystery films in recent memory, but an exceptionally layered thriller that grows more compelling with each rewatch.

Despite the film coming out last year, it’s difficult to look back at the last 6 years of thriller filmmaking and award any film other than One Battle After Another as the absolute best that the genre has had to offer. This exceptional tour de force from Paul Thomas Anderson does just about everything one wants out of a great modern thriller, featuring compelling characters, high tension, and electrifying sequences that completely overwhelm the audience.

It’s the type of modern-day masterpiece that only grows more impressive in its scope and execution with each passing day, the type of film that will be reflected upon and studied for generations as one of the new pillarstones of thriller filmmaking. Even as it balances a wide variety of different genres and tones, One Battle After Another remains a compelling thriller through the entire runtime, culminating in one of the all-time great finales in the genre’s history.

How Babylon 5 Turned Brief Side Story Into Emotional Masterpiece

How Babylon 5 Turned Brief Side Story Into Emotional Masterpiece

By Jonathan Klotz
| Published

Babylon 5 is one of the best sci-fi shows of all time, thanks to creator J. Michael Straczynski’s intricate plotting of the entire story from day one. That means every major plot beat and story twist was planned years in advance, and the smaller character moments were, too. Season 1 Episode 3’s “Born to the Purple” gives fans an early look at the development of future favorite, Lieutenant Commander Ivanova, in a short, simple B-plot, well removed from the main story of Londo’s lover, that tells everything about the character in only two short scenes. It’s a masterclass in writing and one of the many, many reasons why the series is among the best.

Breaking The Rules Of Babylon 5

“Born to the Purple” centers on Londo dealing with his lover, the dancer Adira Tyree, working as a spy to get the Centauri Purple Files so that her owner, Trakis, can blackmail the most powerful members of the government. The other follows the station’s Chief of Security, Michael Garibaldi (Jerry Doyle), as he attempts to figure out who’s illegally using the highly classified gold communication channel to communicate with someone off station. There could be a spy, and with the delicate Centauri-Narn peace talks taking place on the station, finding the culprit is a matter of intergalactic importance.

Londo and Adira In “Born To The Purple”

Garibaldi goes to Lieutenant Commander Susan Ivanova (Claudia Christian) for assistance. She offers to help track the communication, but when he goes to track it again, he’s blocked, and the countermeasure came from the Russian Consortium. Ivanova keeps telling him it’s a figment of his imagination, or gremlins, but he cracks it the next time around and uncovers the message.

Ivanova has been keeping an eye on her dying father back on Earth. He came out of his coma, and communicated a final message to his daughter saying how proud he is of her, apologizing for all the pain and hurt he caused her, and regretting how he wasn’t a better father.

Garibaldi And Ivanova In “Born To The Purple”

Ivanova watches as he dies, and so too, does Garibaldi. It’s a heartbreaking moment that would, in a lesser series, come after a season of build-up and teasing, with constant emphasis placed on Ivanova being distracted at work, or acting differently, but Babylon 5 is built different, and this early season moment tells the audience everything they need to know about Ivanova.

Loneliness In A Crowd

In the previous two episodes, Ivanova did mention some family problems, but kept them close to her chest, not wanting to burden anyone. She showed up and did her job because that’s what she does. At the same time, her illegal use of the gold channel shows that she’ll bend the rules slightly for a moral good. Well, that, and anytime Garibaldi and Ivanova go against one another, no one wins, as the two are too similar in how they think, they each have connections on and off station, and each seems to know what the other is thinking, even as they do their best to hide it.

“Born to the Purple” also speaks to the extreme loneliness that those on Babylon 5 can experience; despite it being a central hub for trade and politics, they can feel isolated. Londo takes comfort in the arms of a dancer, Ivanova violates station protocol to reach out to her father; two very different characters, different species entirely in fact, but the same need for connection.

It adds to each of them, Londo is gregarious and outgoing so you wouldn’t think he’s lonely, while Ivanova is so pragmatic and says herself she’s a realist, that emotional connection wouldn’t be something she’s overly concerned about compared to getting the job done. It’s a testament to JMS’s writing and world-building that a simple early-season episode can say so much about who these characters are, what’s important, and tease fans with where they end up.

Months after Brooklyn Beckham‘s explosive comments about his parents, another voice has chimed in, one that claims his words rang true.

In a recent interview, the model revisited that chapter of her life, one she says she had long tried to leave behind. However, the constant media attention continues to pull her back in, something she describes as emotionally draining.

“It’s hard because I don’t look back on that as a fond time, on reflection,” Cross shared, noting that she was never pressured or warned to stay silent. Addressing Brooklyn’s explosive statement, Cross admitted they caught her off guard, but they also reflected what she encountered with the clan.

“It was a bit shocking to me that he did that. It was a surprise,” she said. “I guess it shocked his family, too… but it summed up a lot of my own experiences as well and the way that their family as a brand does act.”

The Yorkshire-born catwalk star continued detailing her past with the Beckhams, revealing it took a toll on her mental well-being. “My time with the family caused me a lot of anxiety, in all honesty,” Cross told Hello Magazine.

“There were a lot of warning signs and things that happened during the relationship that, in hindsight, should have made me think and maybe end the relationship or walk away from it a lot sooner than I did,” the 28-year-old added.

Cross noted that at the time she was still young and did not have anyone she could confide in about her struggles. Despite the difficulties, she ultimately hoped the famous clan would reconcile, stressing the importance of unity and togetherness.

While Brooklyn appears to be distancing himself from his own relatives, he seems to have blended just fine with his wife’s Nicola Peltz family.

In an interview last month, Peltz offered glimpses into their close-knit dynamic, revealing that her parents have embraced the budding chef as “another son.”

The actress, who has six brothers, also spoke about how naturally he fits in with them. “He gets along really well with my brothers. They play soccer together a lot,” she shared, according to The Blast

Nicola’s billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, has also addressed the situation, acknowledging the tension between Brooklyn and his own parents. While noting that he advised the couple to stay away from the media, he expressed hopes that the couple would have a “long marriage.”

Meanwhile, the family strain appears to be weighing heavily on Brooklyn’s younger brother, Cruz. A few weeks ago, Cruz delivered a heartfelt performance of his track “Loneliest Boy” at London’s Courtyard Theatre.

As The Blast reported, during the set, the young singer appeared overcome with emotion and was comforted by a bandmate. His parents, David and Victoria Beckham, along with his brother Romeo, were in the audience for the first of three sold-out shows, proudly supporting him.

Fans have since speculated that the track is directed at his estranged brother, with lyrics describing a boy who pushes people away despite being shown love, and a poignant verse referencing a mother’s heartbreak.

Cruz has also reminisced on how things were before the rift, sharing old pictures of their happy family, seemingly expressing hope for a reconciliation.

The Michael Jackson Biopic Spent Millions Erasing Controversies

The Michael Jackson Biopic Spent Millions Erasing Controversies

By TeeJay Small

When I first heard that a Michael Jackson biopic was in the works, I just knew the production was going to be a train wreck in some way. From the king of pop‘s traumatic upbringing, to his child abuse scandal, to his outspoken support of a free Palestinian state, so much of Michael’s life is effectively unfilmable and unmarketable to the Hollywood machine.

According to the trades, the Michael film was recently overhauled in post-production, with over $15 million spent on reshoots. The goal of these reshoots: restructure the entire story to completely eliminate any mention of Jackson’s abuse allegations, effectively stripping the story of one of its most important details.

Ignoring Important Allegation Arc

Michael 2026

As the report outlines, the Michael script was originally a frame narrative with the child abuse scandal hanging over the entire story. The movie was designed to open with Michael Jackson facing intense scrutiny in 1993 when the allegations first became public. Then, as the film highlights different significant moments in the singer’s life, we flash back and forth to the 21st century, concluding with a long sequence about how the allegations impacted Michael’s final years.

After principal photography had wrapped on Michael, a producer realized that there were legal issues preventing the production from moving forward with this depiction. Specifically, one of Jackson’s accusers has refused to allow the movie to mention him in any way, shape, or form.

Personally, I suspect there were many factors behind the decision to strip the film of this controversial subject matter, since Jackson’s estate is a key money maker for numerous people and businesses. Jackson’s death has also been subjected to an endless number of conspiracy theories, so the production would be facing a major uphill battle by depicting those years at all.

The Full Story Cannot Be Told

Michael 2026

Instead of highlighting Michael Jackson’s greatest controversy, Michael will center primarily on the pop icon’s lasting clash with his abusive father, Joe, played by Euphoria‘s Colman Domingo. Inside reports suggest that the final cut of the film will now follow a fairly straightforward linear path, concluding with Jackson’s career-defining Bad world tour. Execs at Lionsgate seem to believe that a third of the footage left on the cutting room floor could be repurposed if they ever decide to make a sequel, but doing so would obviously open Pandora’s box once more.

Beyond the scrapped footage and the $15 million worth of reshoots, the production of Michael has raised a lot of eyebrows. According to those same reports from the trades, Michael’s sister and fellow performer of stage and song, Janet Jackson, will not be depicted at all. To see what ends up on screen, we’ll have to wait until April 24, when Michael hits theaters across the country.
