Drew McIntyre Reveals Hidden Clause in WWE Title Win
On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, which was being held at Wembley Arena, London, Drew McIntyre made quite the entrance. The Scotsman showed up with bagpipes playing and giving his first promo as the new WWE Champion.
The Scottish Warrior’s introduction seemed joyous with an infectious smile on his face as he posed with fans. After chants of “Oh, Drew McIntyre” finally subsided, Drew said: “I prayed for this, and it happened!”
The audience showed their love for their new champion with chants of “You deserve it!”
However, even though the crowd were supporters of the British Superstar, he turned on them almost immediately, telling them “screw you.” McIntyre believes that they weren’t there for him when he needed them, when his life was a living hell trying to combat the likes of Roman Reigns and CM Punk.
The WWE Champion needed to thank just one person, the one person who always believed in him. Himself.
Clause in Drew McIntyre’s Title Win
Once the introductions had subsided, the Scot had a message for former champion Cody Rhodes. McIntyre had a clause added to the contract for their title match which means there will be no rematch for QB1. This means that Rhodes will have to start from the bottom and work his way up to get a chance to fight for the WWE Championship again.
As McIntyre continued to explain that the vanilla QB1 period of wrestling was over, he was interrupted by 14-time WWE World Champion, Randy Orton. As Orton’s music settled, the current champion turned to The Viper and said: “I assume you came out to congratulate me, Randy?”
Orton was serenaded by chants of “RKO” before telling McIntyre that they aren’t friends, and he wasn’t there to congratulate him, but to tell him to watch out for a future RKO and title change.
This wasn’t the end of proceedings, however, as Jacob Fatu then turned up and ambushed the champion before the Scotsman escaped through the crowd.
What Could Be Next For Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre’s first promo as champion offered a glimpse of what is to come. With both Orton and Fatu gunning for the title, it seems an exciting chapter is ahead.
With the aforementioned Orton and Fatu, alongside Damian Priest, Sami Zayn, and Trick Williams, there are many avenues that the company can take the champion down. Of course, it would be silly to disregard Cody Rhodes, who will be in the reckoning again soon enough, and the likes of CM Punk and Roman Reigns returning within the next month, adding layers to this intriguing chapter.
