Sama X secures licence to roll out Elon Musk’s Starlink services in Bahrain
Sama X has been granted a licence by Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to provide Starlink satellite broadband services across the Kingdom, enabling the rollout of connectivity powered by the satellite network operated by Elon Musk’s company SpaceX.
The approval positions Sama X as Bahrain’s first local authorised Starlink Enterprise reseller, allowing it to deliver high-speed satellite internet to businesses, public sector organisations and professional users nationwide, including offshore and maritime environments within Bahrain’s territorial waters.
The company said the licence supports its launch in Bahrain with a locally anchored and flexible business model designed to simplify access to advanced digital connectivity. Using Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit satellite constellation, Sama X will provide reliable primary or backup internet solutions in areas where traditional terrestrial networks may be limited.
Amit Somani, chief executive of Sama X, said the Kingdom offers a strong platform for advanced technology deployment. “Bahrain stands as a beacon of technological progress and innovation within the region, and we are honoured to play a role in advancing this legacy,” he said.
“Starlink’s revolutionary LEO technology enables unparalleled connectivity for businesses and communities alike, regardless of location. Whether a startup in Juffair, a school in Riffa, or an oil rig off the coast, every corner of Bahrain can now benefit from high-speed internet access tailored to its needs.”
Starlink is the satellite internet system developed by SpaceX, the aerospace company founded by Elon Musk. Since 2020, SpaceX has launched more low-Earth-orbit satellites than any other provider, building a global network designed to deliver low-latency, high-speed broadband without dependence on ground-based infrastructure.
Sama X to power reliable connectivity
As an authorised reseller, Sama X will provide end-to-end Starlink solutions, including tailored consultations, installation services and 24-hour customer support in both English and Arabic. The company said its offering is aimed at enterprises, government entities and critical industries that require resilient and continuous connectivity.
The Bahrain launch aligns with the country’s Economic Vision 2030, which focuses on digital transformation, sustainable development and technological leadership. Sama X said its services will support these objectives by helping make reliable internet connectivity a cornerstone of national progress.
Somani said the company values the role of Bahrain’s regulator in enabling the launch. “We are thankful to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority for overseeing and implementing Bahrain’s constructive policies and regulatory framework, which form an exceptional foundation for technology players like Sama X to thrive,” he said.
“We are committed to collaborating with local stakeholders to fulfil their broadband needs and deliver additional value through our multilingual local service and support, product flexibility and integrated network solutions.”
Sama X confirmed the licence award and its Bahrain launch in a recent announcement shared on its LinkedIn platform.
Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Dubai, Sama X is backed by Alghanim Industries, one of the Middle East’s largest privately held companies. Bahrain marks the latest step in the company’s regional expansion strategy focused on next-generation satellite connectivity.
