Celtic may have just been handed a golden opportunity to sign a long-term transfer target, according to reports – with Chelsea set to recall striker David Datro Fofana from a loan spell abroad and list him for sale.
The Hoops have been longing for a striker ever since the departures of Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah over the past calendar year, with the arrivals of Shin Yamada and Kelechi Iheanacho doing little to convince fans that they are the figureheads needed to take the club further.
Celtic sit six points behind league leaders Hearts in the Scottish Premiership table, and just one goal ahead of rivals Rangers on goal difference, with a new striker needed to lead them to a fifth-straight title. And that could be Fofana, with reports suggesting Chelsea are selling the 23-year-old.
Romano: Chelsea Recall Fofana, Opens Celtic Door
The report by Fabrizio Romano states that Chelsea have recalled David Datro Fofana from his loan spell at Turkish outfit Fatih Karagumruk, as he is set for a new move in the upcoming days and weeks of the transfer window.
It’s thought that both Chelsea and Fofana’s camp are working on a permanent exit for the Ivorian star, who they signed from Norwegian side Molde three years ago, and with Celtic having been linked before in the transfer window, now could be the time for the Scottish Premiership side to make their move.
