Rangers Make Contact to Sign Sheffield Wednesday Star Max Lowe
Rangers are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday left-back Max Lowe this month, according to The Star.
The Ibrox side have reportedly submitted an enquiry for the 28-year-old early in the January transfer window, but a deal appears unlikely as things stand.
Owls manager Henrik Pedersen has revealed he hopes Lowe will stay at the club despite a potential opportunity to reunite with former Wednesday manager Danny Rohl in Scotland.
Lowe joined the Hillsborough side in July 2024, ahead of Rohl’s second season at the club, and has made 58 appearances to date, including 21 this campaign.
Rangers Make Max Lowe Enquiry
According to The Star, Wednesday are in no need of a fire sale of players in January, despite being placed into administration in October.
However, the Championship side risk losing Lowe for free after the season if he is not sold this month, with the ‘outstanding’ 28-year-old’s contract expiring at the end of the campaign and the club holding no extension trigger on the deal.
Lowe, who has made 20 starts in the Championship this term, is currently recovering from injury and has missed the last five games.
A move to Rangers would see the left-back return to Scottish football after seven years, having spent a season on loan at Aberdeen from Derby County.
The 28-year-old registered 28 appearances in the Premiership during the 2019/20 campaign and helped the club reach the Scottish League Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Celtic.
Rangers were on the market for a new left-back this month before welcoming Tuur Rommens from Belgian side Westerlo in a £3m deal last week.
Rangers Hit by Dan Neil Transfer Setback
Rangers have been hit by a setback in their efforts to sign Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil this month.
The Ibrox side are believed to have submitted an enquiry for the 24-year-old, but have learned that a deal would only be possible on a permanent basis this month.
Sunderland already have six players loaned out and do not have any remaining international loan slots available, meaning any move for Neil would have to involve a transfer fee.
The midfielder, whose contract expires at the end of the season, also has interest from Bundesliga side Koln and West Ham, who are long-term admirers.
