Pep Guardiola has one Man City regret after 'best Newcastle win in 10 years'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke of his delight for his players after their 3-1 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup

A delighted Pep Guardiola put Manchester City’s win over Newcastle in the FA Cup as their best performance at St James’ Park in his 10 years in English football. The Blues picked up their fourth win in three months against Eddie Howe’s side with a 3-1 victory that keeps their dreams of a Quadruple alive.

The victory was even sweeter for City because Guardiola made 10 changes from the side that had drawn 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in midweek in an admission that some players were too tired with Real Madrid coming next in the Champions League on Wednesday. Erling Haaland was left at home and Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Ruben Dias and Marc Guehi remained on the bench in the north-east.

After a difficult start, City rallied and Savinho got the equaliser on his first start in more than two months and then Omar Marmoush scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season – four of them have come against Newcastle – to book City’s place in the FA Cup quarters. Before then, they will head to Madrid with confidence – but with a lone regret from the manager over the number of chances they missed to win by even more.

“It’s one of the best feelings,” he said. “Really all the managers have that feeling, look at the performance of Nathan [Ake] – how reliable he is. All of them, there is not one single one that didn’t behave their best. Sometimes you don’t allow them to play much minutes and always you have that feeling. That’s why it’s nice to be in the competitions because it’s nice for them to be involved.

“The only regret I have today is that we missed too many easy chances. That is the only thing we have to really improve because it’s one against one with the keeper, we have to try to finish better.

“Except the first 15-20 minutes that always happens, we talk about that, we could not control but after we dropped and Savinho started to make one against one on the byline we were incredible. It’s the best game we have played against Newcastle here in our period together in 10 years -and a difficult one in the FA Cup.

“I’m really pleased with how we played, how we behaved offensively, defensively, the concentration. It’s top. Eight times in a row in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup means how good this organisation is.”

Kerry Katona’s plans to move abroad with beau Paolo as daughter DJ’s school closes down

Kerry Katona's plans to move abroad with beau Paolo as daughter DJ's school closes down

Kerry Katona has candidly revealed her plans to move out of UK may come sooner rather than later as she revealed her daughter Dylan-Jorge’s school is set to close later this year

Kerry Katona has revealed the closure of her daughter Dylan-Jorge’s school could be a ‘sign’ for her to fast-track her plans to move abroad with her beau Paolo and their children.

The 45 year old, who is a proud mum to her five children, revealed in her first joint interview with Paolo Margaglione with OK! magazine last month that the couple plan on moving their blended family to sunnier climates within the next year. And now, it seems that move may come sooner as Kerry has revealed the news that her daughter Dylan-Jorge’s school is closing down might be a “sign”.

Writing in her latest column for new! magazine, Kerry revealed: “I recently got a message announcing they are shutting DJ’s school down in July. Molly, Lilly and Heidi all went to that school, so I am truly gutted. Now we’re running around trying to get her into a different school, but they favour pupils who already have siblings who attend, so DJ’s been put on a waiting list.”

The mum added: “I’m in touch with another school but we keep missing each other, so I’m wondering if this is a sign to up and leave to Spain and start fresh…” It comes after Kerry and Paolo shared their plans to move out of the UK within the next year as she opened up about their romance in their first joint interview.

When asked where they see themselves in a year’s time, Paolo spilled to OK!, “Hopefully somewhere hot and sunny. The idea is, at some point, to potentially move away from the UK. It’s something I wanted to do and something Kerry’s wanted, too.” Meanwhile, Kerry revealed: “We do have a plan”.

Kerry is a proud mum to Molly, Lilly-Sue, Heidi, Max and DJ while her businessman beau Paolo has two daughters, Milani and Nola, from a previous relationship. Kerry even teased a move to Dubai after her trip to the UAE city last month.

Writing in her column at the time, she gushed: “I can see why so many celebrities move to Dubai. It’s definitely somewhere I’d consider moving to. It’s safe, clean, it’s lovely, everyone looks after each other – in fact I could probably see myself living there this time next year. And my children would come with me. Kate and Rio Ferdinand moved there last August and I can see why she might be struggling like she mentioned last week – sometimes it does take time to adapt.” However, in her latest column it appears she’s now got her sights set on Spain…

The Reservation review: Read it for the delicious people, not the prose

It did feel cruel, and not a little unfair, to give up all hope of good prose as early as page four, but that’s where it happened. It was right there in capital letters: “IT’S GRISHAM DAY, PEOPLE.” As in John Grisham, whose looming visit to Aunt Orsa’s — the fine-dining restaurant in a Midwestern university town in which the novel is set — gives the book the tension that propels it along. Grisham’s books are a great holiday read, but the man is not known as a stylist. If he is one of Rebecca Kauffman’s literary heroes — and, given she’s framed a book around him, it feels fair to conclude he must be — then, you think, anyone who reads seeking beauty in words is in trouble.

‘I couldn’t find a sunscreen I enjoyed using or wanted on my bathroom shelf, so I created my own’

'I couldn’t find a sunscreen I enjoyed using or wanted on my bathroom shelf, so I created my own'

She developed her brand Stil after years of frustration and reactions to mainstream chemical sunscreens.

Sunscreen is one of the most important skincare products we use, but it’s also one of the least loved.

But Co Antrim woman Tash Hagan is on a mission to change that. Tash, 33 and from Larne, has just launched a new mineral sunscreen after a flare-up of a chronic health condition inspired her to explore natural cosmetics.

She developed her brand Stil after years of frustration and reactions to mainstream chemical sunscreens.

A former pupil of Olderfleet PS and Cambridge House Grammar in Ballymena, Tash studied fashion at the University of Central Lancashire. She then spent over 12 years working in e-commerce across the UK, Australia and Europe, starting as a stylist and later becoming an Art Director at fashion brand Boden.

Living with Crohn’s disease for over 20 years made her ingredient-aware and increasingly frustrated by a category dominated by harsh formulas and outdated aesthetics.

Tash told Belfast Live: “I’ve had Crohn’s disease since I was 12 years old, and it’s made me fiercely protective of what I put in and on my body. I’ve spent my adult life dedicated to my health and wellbeing to manage my disease without medication.

“It started with clean eating, and after realising that personal care products also caused me to flare, I became obsessed with natural cosmetics and researching ingredients.

“When I returned home after living in Australia at age 29, I struggled to find an SPF on the UK shelves that I trusted. I couldn’t find a sunscreen I enjoyed using or wanted on my bathroom shelf, and I knew I wasn’t alone.

“Mineral sunscreens existed, but they were chalky, hard to rub in and felt like a compromise. This is when I originally had the idea for Stil. It’s the sunscreen I was searching for – kinder to skin, considered for the ocean, and feels like beauty.”

Launched just this month, Stil is on a mission to take minerals mainstream. Designed for sensitive skin and modern life, Stil creates mineral sunscreens that protect effectively, blend beautifully, and actually feel good to use – no white cast, no harsh chemicals, no clinical feel.

The brand made its debut with Daily Face SPF 30, a mineral sunscreen made with non-nano zinc oxide, 97.8percent natural ingredients and a ‘skincare-first texture’, said its founder. Additional products, including a body SPF and lip SPF, are already in development.

Tash explained: “Although we have slightly worse weather or not as many sunny days, I think that’s where we think we don’t need sunscreen. That’s really what I want to help change – the whole attitude and mindset around wearing SPF.

“People think they don’t need it when it’s not sunny, which is when UVA rays come into it, and they make you age quicker, leading to skin damage. We need protection from that on a daily basis, even on cloudy days and when we’re not just constantly in the sun.

“Sunscreen is always regarded as an inconvenience, and I’m flipping that on its head. It’s time to protect our skin and make it an enjoyable step in our everyday routine, something that’s not a hindrance, and not just for holidays.

“The mission is simple: to make suncare people trust, enjoy, and actually stick with. Sunscreen hasn’t changed in decades, but it’s time it did.”

Wrexham owner’s brief message to Chelsea gives clear impression after FA Cup clash

Wrexham owner's brief message to Chelsea gives clear impression after FA Cup clash

A message to Chelsea from Wrexham’s owner established just how clear their aspirations are

Wrexham welcomed Chelsea for their FA Cup fifth round encounter but it was following their previous international meeting that the Championship team signalled their Premier League aspirations to the London club.

The Saturday evening match at the Racecourse Ground marked the first competitive game between the two sides since Wrexham’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in 1982. However, the two teams did face off in July 2023 during a pre-season match held at Chapel Hill in the United States.

Ahead of the Red Dragons’ inaugural season in League Two after being promoted from the National League, they were put through their paces against the Blues, then managed by Mauricio Pochettino.

Competing before a crowd of 50,000 spectators in North Carolina, Wrexham suffered a hefty 5-0 loss with the final three goals netted in the last 15 minutes. Despite the disheartening outcome, the club’s co-owner Rob Mac, previously known as McElhenney, remained upbeat as he delivered a message to their top-tier rivals post-match.

The Always Sunny star posted on X: “Thank you @‌ChelseaFC!!!! Hopefully we’ll see you again in 5 years or so.” Currently enjoying a run of three successive promotions from the National League to the Championship, Mac’s optimistic forecast remains feasible with Wrexham currently occupying sixth place in the league – the final playoff spot.

After a challenging start to their campaign in the second-tier, which saw Wrexham secure just two victories from their first 10 league matches this season, Phil Parkinson’s team have rallied and now sit just nine points adrift of second place with 11 fixtures left.

The club have triumphed in their last three games – their second-longest winning run this season – and their 1-0 victory over Charlton earned them particular commendation from Parkinson. The manager said: “We showed incredible resilience today to get the win.

“There were some key moments in the game. Brilliant blocks by [Issa] Kabore and [George] Dobson — then a brilliant finish from Ollie. Arthur made a save from their first shot on target — but what a save it was. We know Carey is lethal from those situations. He has hit it low and hard, through legs, and Arthur has produced a match-winning save.”

How to watch Rangers vs Celtic: TV channel and live stream for Scottish Cup today

An increased away following of 7,500 will be in attendance, as Hoops fans hope to leave enemy territory having repeated the result of this season’s Scottish League Cup semi-final victory against this opponent.

Martin O’Neill’s men lost the final of that competition to St Mirren but remain engaged in a three-way fight for the league title with Rangers – who they sit a point above in the table – and leaders Hearts, who are five points clear with nine games to go.

Hearts are already out of this year’s Scottish Cup, the first quarter-finals ties of which saw Falkirk beat Dundee United on Friday before Dunfermline beat holders Aberdeen 3-0 on Saturday.

This evening, meanwhile, St Mirren take on Partick Thistle.

To reach the last eight, Celtic saw off Dundee FC and minnows Auchinleck Talbot as Danny Rohl’s Gers won big against Annan Athletic and Queen’s Park – who knocked them out last year – with a combined 13 goals scored.

Celtic have won the Scottish Cup a record 42 times, including two in a row before being denied in last season’s final by Aberdeen, while Rangers clinched the last of their 34 victories back in 2022.

Only one of these old rivals will progress to the semi-finals, though, meaning a thrilling bout no doubt awaits us.

Labour receives formal complaint over claims of voter irregularities in Holyrood selection contest

It comes after Irshad Ahmad beat established party figures including economy spokesman Daniel Johnson and business manager Martin Whitfield to top the Edinburgh and Lothians East regional list putting him in line to become an MSP in May.

Labour has received a formal complaint over claims of voter irregularities in a Holyrood selection contest.

It comes after Irshad Ahmad beat established party figures including economy spokesman Daniel Johnson and business manager Martin Whitfield to top the Edinburgh and Lothians East regional list putting him in line to become an MSP in May.

Ahmad won the place despite having formerly been an SNP and Alba candidate as a hard-line nationalist, and being relatively unknown in Labour circles.

There has been claims of hundreds of new members being signing up to support him and also claims members have been found not living at the houses listed in Labour records in Edinburgh North Western.

It is also claimed that the electoral register showed some members living in a different council area.

The Sunday Mail has learned Labour’s Governance and Legal Unit (GLU) has now received a letter of complaint and has responded saying the matter will be investigated.

A whistleblower said: “People are very concerned about this and want to see a genuine investigation.

“There has been reports of people not even knowing they are members of the Labour party and others not living at the addresses that they are claimed to live at.

“This is a really serious matter and Labour has a duty to investigate it properly, it can’t just be brushed under the carpet.

“The party don’t seem to want to take action as we are in the run up to an election and this has the potential to spark negative stories, but people deserve answers.”

A letter sent to GLU states: “I wish to raise my concerns regarding Irshad Ahmad who is now in the running to become a Labour MSP.

“It’s vital I make you aware of this now so that we have the right people in positions of power or importance.

“I hope something will be done, its not just about the party.”

Ahmad was born in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and moved to Edinburgh in 1993. He is a director of a convenience-store business based in Musselburgh.

He has links to the Sarwar Foundation, the charity set up by Anas Sarwar’s father, and is president of East Edinburgh Muslim Forum.

Questions have also being asked of Labour deputy leader Jackie Baillie who runs Scottish Labour’s usually strict vetting process.

Several insiders are puzzled about why Ahmad, given his nationalist background, was approved in the first place.

Labour has been approached for comment.

When he stood as an SNP candidate by attempting to oust Ash Regan in 2016 and 2020, Ahmad accused Regan of being soft on the constitution.

Regan – who later joined Alba and now sits in Holyrood as an independent – has said allegations of attempting to pack local parties with supporters “sounds familiar”.

Asked by reporters about his candidacy for Holyrood, and how many members he had signed up, Ahmad repeatedly responded: “We are here to listen to Anas.”

US Embassy hit by 'explosion' as 'thick smoke' seen filling streets by witnesses

The attack follows a series of “retaliatory strikes” by Tehran against American buildings in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia

It remains unclear if anyone sustained any injuries in the explosion.

Norweigan publication NRK reports that police have combined the use of ” dogs, drones and helicopters to find one or more potential perpetrators” in connection with the blast.

The embassy explosion comes in the wake of recent attacks on diplomatic buildings around the globe, with similiar attacks in Saudi Arabia. linked to the ongoing conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran.

Every Health Benefit A Daily Walk Can Bring

Every Health Benefit A Daily Walk Can Bring

OK, compared to burpees and running a marathon, walking isn’t the most intensive workout around.

But it is, undoubtedly, exercise. And doctors say it’s amazingly good for us.

In fact, the NHS called the movement “overlooked”; even a quarter of an hour a day does a body (and brain) good.

So, before you dismiss your morning stroll, here are some of the many benefits of walking:

1) It’s great for your heart

As little as 2,337 steps a day can lower your risk of dying from heart-related health conditions, including heart attack and stroke, a review of studies found.

It can help to manage your blood pressure and cholesterol, too.

2) Your lungs will thank you

According to a 2025 paper, faster walkers tend to have a much lower risk of lung cancer than slower strollers. That aside, walking is an aerobic exercise which strengthens your lungs over time.

3) It can strengthen your bones

In one study, postmenopausal women – a group at higher risk of weakened bones – who walked about 1.6km a day had denser bones and a lower rate of bone loss than those who didn’t.

4) Walkers sleep better

Walking seems to improve every facet of your kip, from sleep quality to preventing 3am wakeups to ensuring you’re not sleepy the next day and improving sleep efficiency. Half an hour a day seems plenty.

5) It can help your joints

The more purposeful steps participants in a 2025 paper took, the less likely they were to experience knee arthritis.

That’s just one piece of evidence suggesting the activity may help to protect your joints. It can also ease pain in existing arthritis cases.

6) Walking may lower dementia risk

Walking 9,826 steps a day has been linked to a 51% reduction in dementia risk. But you don’t have to do that much to see that likelihood go down; walking for 7,000 steps a day is associated with a 38% lower risk.

7) It makes us live longer

Walking 7,000 steps a day has been linked to a 47% risk reduction in all-cause mortality. A half-hour brisk walk daily may add 1.4 years to women’s lives, and 2.5 to men’s.

8) It can protect from type 2 diabetes and control the blood sugar in those who have it

A three-week walking study found that both uphill and downhill walking may be “useful for the prevention of type 2 diabetes”. And among those who have it, walking can improve glucose control.

9) It boosts your immune system

Researchers think physical activity could flush bacteria from our airways, though we’re not yet sure.

Whatever the exact mechanism, though, people who walked 20 minutes or more a day had 43% fewer sick days than those who exercised once a week or less in one paper.

10) It may protect from some cancers

One study involving young men found that regular brisk walking was linked to a reduced risk of nine types of cancer (including pancreatic, kidney, and oesophageal kinds) as they aged.

Another review of studies suggested that premenopausal women who moved the most, including through walking, had a lower risk of developing breast cancer.

11) Walking might tame your sweet tooth

A 15-minute walk seemed to make participants of a University of Exeter study crave chocolate less.
