Extremely R-Rated King Arthur Adaptation On Netflix Split Critics And Audiences

The legend of King Arthur has been adapted time and time again, from the classic Excalibur to The Pendragon Cycle: The Rise of Merlin, but when one of the Knights of the Round Table gets the spotlight, it’s always Lancelot. 2021’s The Green Knight fixes that by finally adapting the classic story of Sir Gawain for the big screen. David Lowry’s take on the classic is gorgeous, with a resemblance to Renaissance paintings. Shadows and dark, dank castle walls have never looked so good, which is why it’s even more disappointing that the film itself is a slog to get through.
A Different Type Of Arthurian Legend
Dev Patel stars as Sir Gawain, the son of Morgan le Fey and nephew of King Arthur, but while he’s typically considered one of the most chivalrous of Arthur’s Knights, The Green Knight starts with him in a brothel. He’s fallen in love with one of the girls there, Essel (Alicia Vikander), who was made up for the film.
The incident at the Christmas fest with the strange Green Knight (Ralph Ineson) offering to play a beheading game with Arthur’s court hasn’t been adjusted too far for the film, and Gawain beheads the Green Knight with Excalibur. The Knight then stands up, picks up his head, and reminds Gawain he’ll see him in a year to offer a blow of his own.
Lowry’s The Green Knight takes its time getting to the Green Chapel. First, Gawain lives the rest of the year as if it’s his last, which it very likely is. Eventually, (and given the film’s languid pace, eventually is the right way to describe it) Gawain comes across a Lord (Joel Edgerton) and his wife (also Alicia Vikander, in case the theme was too subtle). You’d think that Gawain and The Lady’s interactions are the film’s largest departure from the classic poem, but no, that would be the ending.
By the time that The Green Knight gets to the Green Chapel, you know that this isn’t a straight adaptation of the original story. Lowry’s decision to alter the ending is either a bold storytelling choice or an example of the worst tendencies of Hollywood producers. Viewers, at least those who made it to the ending, remain divided to this day.
The Green Knight Divided Audiences
Critics adored The Green Knight upon its release, reflected by the 89 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and for good reason. The cinematography is among the best of the last 20 years, there is more symbolism within the last hour than your freshman English mid-term, and everyone involved is giving a highlight reel acting performance. Patel in particular deserved more award consideration in 202.
The problem is that the other half of the Rotten Tomatoes formula shows 50 percent of the audience didn’t like The Green Knight, and even today, when the film comes up on social media, it’s always “it looks great, but…”. You can’t even say that the pacing is a throwback to older adult dramas: it’s simply a slow, thoughtful film. Combined with the ending and it’s a recipe to become an eventual cult classic, but that’s the ceiling.
Today, you can catch The Green Knight on Netflix and judge for yourself if it’s an artistic masterpiece or if it makes King Arthur: Legend of the Sword look like a classic.

Ari Fletcher Claps Back At Akademiks For Speaking On Her Name
Roomies, do y’all remember those viral alleged rumors about Ari Fletcher and Lil Baby? There’s still no word on how those rumors started, but fans were shook when they thought Jayda Cheaves addressed the tea during the TikTok livestream. Even though the buzz about Ari and Baby popped off at the top of 026, folks are still talking about it — specifically Akademiks. He recalled the situation during a recent livestream saying that he doesn’t think the accusations about Ari are too farfetched. Throughout the stream, he continued to double down on his beliefs saying Ari is known for messing with everybody’s guy. “Ari is like community p***y.” Akademiks continued, “Everybody f*** Ari. I’m talking about the popping rappers. Half of Atlanta f*** Ari. This is just what it is.”
Shortly after the clip of Akademiks started going viral, Ari Fletcher hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to respond. She told her followers to stay seated because she’s coming for his pockets.
“I want everybody to play very close attention to what I’m about to do to @Akademiks.I let yall play for way too long but you KEEP defaming my character. I’m taking it to hell. I hope that streaming money tucked bitch cause I’m coming!”
Social Media Sticks Beside Ari
After The Shade Room posted the clip of Akademiks, the comment section crazy. A bunch of folks sided with Ari and said she should sue him for speaking on her name, while others said they’re tired of him always bashing women. Peep some of the reactions below.

To this day, nobody has confirmed whether Ari Fletcher and Lil Baby actually had relations, and neither of them have publicly addressed the rumors. But after fans thought Jayda Cheaves hinted at it during a TikTok livestream, many believed Ari responded in her own subtle way. Around that time, Ari dropped photos on Instagram showing herself posing in a dramatic fur coat and white dress. She kept the caption short, writing, “My year.”

Dallas Cowboys superstar Dak Prescott and his fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, are not getting married — TMZ Sports has learned the two have broken up one month before their wedding.
We’re told the relationship had been rocky behind the scenes for months … but things came to a head with a blowup argument at their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties in the Bahamas — and Sarah Jane called it off.
She actually shared several snaps from her bachelorette party with her closest friends earlier this week … captioning the post, “I truly believe you can get through anything in life as long as you have really great friends. I love these girls so much.”
Before that, on Feb. 23, she said she “can’t wait to marry the love of my life” at their destination wedding in Italy.
Those posts have since been deleted.
The reality is, we’re told the relationship is beyond repair … so the focus will be on coparenting their two kids — ages 2 and nearly 10 months — moving forward.

Outside under the evening sky, Lala Baptiste and Jay Cinco were surrounded by friends and family holding up phone flashlights, setting the perfect glow for the big moment. Lala stunned in a salmon-colored dress with fur details. Meanwhile, Jay rocked an off-white sweater with slacks, keeping it cozy yet stylish. Adding to the festive vibes, a man dressed as Santa Claus joined the scene. Then came the moment everyone was waiting for — a woman handed Jay a reddish box, which he passed to Lala. As she carefully unwrapped it, the camera captured their priceless reactions when they spotted a pink ball inside — confirming a baby girl is on the way. Lala’s face immediately lit up with pure joy. As the video shifted from black-and-white to color, fans got the moment of truth: a bright pink cake confirming they’re expecting a baby girl.

Fans immediately flooded the comments on The Shade Room Teens’ Instagram page after the reveal, and the excitement was unreal. Many fans said it only made sense that Lala Baptiste is having a baby girl. While others claimed JayCinco was born to be a “girl dad” and predicted she’ll have him wrapped around her finger.

What Do You Think Roomies?
Southwest passengers had to make a detour for a security-related issue … which ended with cops rushing onto their plane guns blazing.
Video is circulating online that captured the moment that went down Friday … after a flight leaving Nashville for Fort Lauderdale had to divert to Atlanta.
Check out the clip … multiple officers outfitted in full tactical gear head down the narrow aisle way toward the back of the plane — before wrenching a man out of his seat and slapping cuffs on him.
People on the plane — unclear if it’s passengers or crew members — can be heard chanting “heads down, hands up” repeatedly … a reminder to everyone on the plane to not make any sudden moves while the cops go about their business.
Worth noting … several social media users are claiming the plane needed to make an emergency landing because bomb threats were made. We’ve checked with police, but we haven’t been able to verify that allegation.
In a statement to TMZ, a Southwest Airlines spokesperson tells TMZ … the plane landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to “respond to a possible security matter.”
The company lauds its flight crew’s response to the incident and apologizes to the passengers for the significant delay.
Southwest tells us customers were put on another aircraft, which continued on to Fort Lauderdale. They landed around 3:30 AM.
The FBI told us they did investigate a person allegedly connected to the incident … however, “There was no credible threat and no charges will be filed.’

Emily Parker — Corey’s aunt — tells us the star passed away Thursday in Memphis, Tennessee after a battle with cancer. It’s unclear what type of cancer he had.
Corey got his start in the film industry in the mid-1980s … notably winning the role of Pete in “Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning.” He followed that up with a small part in the Kim Basinger romantic drama “9 1/2 Weeks.”
In 1992, Corey landed a starring role in the sitcom “Flying Blind” alongside Téa Leoni. He played Neil Barash — an awkward college grad who begins dating Leoni’s wild and free Alicia.
Lisa Kudrow, Peter Boyle, Andy Dick and Noah Emmerich all appeared on the show during it’s one-season run.
“Will & Grace” fans may remember Corey for his recurring part as Josh — one of Grace’s boyfriends — in five episodes of the hit sitcom.
His other credits include … “Biloxi Blues,” “White Palace,” “Love Boat: The Next Wave,” “Nashville,” and “Blue Skies.” In his later years, Corey transitioned to working as an acting coach … providing advice on the shows “Sun Records” and “Ms. Marvel.”
