U.S. Adds Just 38,000 Private Sector Jobs in August
The private sector’s hiring momentum proved a bit weaker than expected last month, with several major sectors shedding jobs, according to new employment data released Wednesday.
The U.S. added 38,000 jobs to private payrolls in August, according to the ADP National Employment Report. Employment in the manufacturing, professional services, and information sectors declined last month.
That’s lower than the 46,500 jobs economists surveyed by FactSet forecasted. In July, ADP reported that 46,000 jobs were added to private payrolls.
