Studio A24 has earned credibility with a string of highly successful films, made recognizable by what fans call ‘A24 vibes’ – their special brand of visual style, quirky tone, and creative expression. Just a decade ago, this small, indie studio took some big risks on unknown writer-directors that made a big impression. Today their films can rival tent-pole productions, with cinephiles keeping a keen eye on the A24 calendar.
Viewers looking for slick, thought-provoking, unusual films do well to check for the A24 logo. Though known for breathing new life into the horror genre, A24 is the studio behind a wide spectrum of films. It is the cool kid among film studios, and its fans are particularly cult-like in their admiration. HBO Max has shrewdly picked up on this trend and hosts a large swath of their film catalog. A recent update has added more A24 movies on HBO Max that are particularly worth checking out.
We Live in Time takes all the inherent passion and comfort of a classic love story and, through a non-chronological mixture of events and some powerful tearjerker moments, leaves a massive impact with its story of true love. The film follows lovebirds Tobias Durand (Andrew Garfield) and Almut Bruhl (Florence Pugh), whose lives are forever changed when their chance encounter sets in motion a decade-spanning journey of love, pain, and romance.
The nonlinear approach to the storytelling of We Live in Time is truly what makes the film special, as it keeps information both hidden and out in the open to allow for maximum dramatic and emotional impact. It also certainly helps that Garfield and Pugh have a palpable chemistry with one another, with feelings of romance and the wild emotions of love exuding off of the screen during both their best and worst moments. While A24 is rarely known for their romance films, We Live in Time is easily among their best and perfectly aligns with their notions of experimental and groundbreaking cinema.
A beautiful yet heartbreaking look at the difficulties and pains of young adulthood from Eva Victor, Sorry, Baby is a story defined by its portrayal of raw, human experiences and growth, even at their most painful and confusing moments. The film sees Victor as a young professor working at the same college she attended and living in the same house she lived in as a graduate student. However, due to a painful event as a student that has lingered in her mind, she feels stuck and unable to truly progress and have a normal adulthood.
Sorry, Baby is exceptionally intelligent with its portrayal of darker and uncomfortable subject matter, never glorifying the pain or going all out with a depiction, yet still reeling in the pain and ramifications of what has occurred. Through Victor’s exceptional lead performance and an array of memorable supporting performances, the film does wonders in terms of hitting the audience right where it hurts the most for its poignant story of the difficulties of life.
A dynamic and hilarious black comedy satire about one’s personal perception of their looks versus the truth of how they are perceived and viewed by others, A Different Man is a one-of-a-kind psychological thriller comedy experience. The film sees Sebastian Stan as Edward, an aspiring actor with neurofibromatosis who believes that his facial condition is holding back his prospects in life. After getting an experimental surgery to cure his condition, he abandons his old name and life to begin anew, only to get a sense of regret when Oswald (Adam Pearson), another man with neurofibromatosis, seems to be living his perfect life.
A Different Man is exceptional in being able to balance comedy and self-reflective themes of perception together to make for a compelling, unpredictable experience. Each subsequent twist and element to the branching story and chaos of Edward’s life manages to make the overall experience both more hilarious and more intricate in its scope and scale. Everyone also gives a standout performance in the film, with Pearson especially stealing the show with his endlessly likable and charming portrayal of Oswald.
Rarely has a film been able to balance overwhelming dread and tension with exceptional dark comedy as seen in Mary Bronstein‘s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. This wild story of the difficulties of motherhood sees Rose Byrne as Linda, a mother on the verge of her absolute breaking point. She faces all sorts of chaos between the mysterious illness of her daughter, her husband being absent at sea, the difficulties of her therapist job, and a giant hole in her home forcing her and her daughter to live in a motel.
If I Had Legs I’d Kick You acts as this ever-increasing spiral of chaos and anxiety-fueled destruction, with each wrinkle only proving to make the overarching experience that much more painful and hilarious to experience. However, the film never loses its emotional side even with the more lighthearted comedic tone that it takes, sticking to its central themes and sporting a masterfully layered lead performance from Byrne.
Easily one of the most beautiful and visually distinct modern films, Robert Eggers proves that black-and-white filmmaking is far from dead with The Lighthouse. The film follows a simple yet effective premise, seeing two 1890s lighthouse keepers stuck on a lone island with only themselves to keep each other company and sane. It doesn’t take long before the duo begins to lose their sanity, questioning everything that happens around them.
Eggers makes the most out of the black-and-white aesthetic and 1.19:1 aspect ratio to create an otherworldly experience that could only be described as psychedelic. This goes hand in hand with the film’s intentionally confusing story, as the characters have a multitude of disturbing visions, false memories, and massive leaps of faith as to the true nature of the lighthouse. The film wouldn’t work nearly as well as it does without the duo of Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, whose performances are multi-faceted and allow audiences to come to a near-infinite number of conclusions as to the film’s true meaning.
While the film was largely overlooked during the awards season due to its mismanaged release in the middle of the year, Sing Sing still thrives as one of the most critically acclaimed A24 releases of all time. The film is an emotional true story about the revitalizing passion and love within a Rehabilitation Through the Arts program at Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison, with many real-life formerly incarcerated men portraying themselves in the film. The film largely centers around the emotional struggle of Divine G (Colman Domingo), as he attempts to find purpose through the art of acting.
For a film all about the beauty and grace found within acting, it would only make sense that one of the film’s defining strengths is its performances, with Domingo giving a generational performance that is among the best of recent memory. Equally great is his co-lead, Clarence Maclin, who portrays himself in a deeply personal and emotional showing of growth and evolution from his early days as a hardened shell before blossoming into one in touch with his own humanity.
One of A24’s biggest successes to date and a striking thrill ride of high energy and even higher tensions, Marty Supreme feels like the culmination of Josh Safdie‘s wild career of anxiety-driven filmmaking. The film sees Timothée Chalamet as charismatic yet ever so impusive ping pong player Marty Mauser, who has massive dreams of being one of the all-time greats of the sport that can elevate it to worldwide notoriety. In his journey to compete in a high-stakes Japanese tournament, Marty goes on a chaotic adventure to secure funds for what he sees as his last shot to cement his legacy.
What starts as a classic sports movie soon devolves into the signature style of madness and ever-increasing chaos that has defined Safdie’s previous masterpieces, yet is even further elevated by a masterclass of a central performance from Chalamet. The film exudes pure charm and passion from every sequence, further amplifying the passion and drive that the character of Marty himself feels to a self-destructive degree. It’s one of the films that has defined the modern era of A24 and will continue to be one of the most important films they’ve ever released.
A meticulously crafted achievement in filmmaking that shows that massive-scale epics can still be accomplished in the modern day, The Brutalist is simultaneously a harkening back to a familiar style of filmmaking as well as a modernization of this classic approach to filmmaking. The film follows the story of visionary architect Laszlo Toth (Adrien Brody), as he and his wife (Felicity Jones) flee from post-war Europe in 1947 to rebuild their legacy and make a name for themselves through the American dream. After a partnership with wealthy businessman Harrison Lee Van Buren Sr (Guy Pearce), Toth’s life finds itself forever changed.
Films at this scale and gravitas are rarely created in the modern day, and even more rare is just how seamless and effectively the film makes use of this scale at every opportunity. Even with its gargantuan, nearly 4-hour-long runtime, the film doesn’t waste a minute of screentime with weaving together its story of hope and pain that is emblematic of the immigrant experience in America. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience of the modern era that is a must-watch experience for anyone and everyone who respects the art form of filmmaking.
The best picture-winning crowd-pleaser that has easily become A24’s most acclaimed and recognizable film, Everything Everywhere All at Once is a cacophony of wild visuals and concepts that is one of the decade’s must-watch films. The film follows aging Chinese immigrant Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh), who, on what was already a chaotic day at the audit center, gets that much worse when she is considered the key to ending a multiversal struggle. Being trained to harness the skills of alternate-universe versions of herself, Evelyn will have to take down a villain who threatens to destroy the multiverse.
Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s blend of top-notch action choreography, hilarious and absurd visual flairs, and unexpected tearjerker moments made it an instant classic from the very beginning. The film stands for the very type of wild, no-holds-barred, and constantly barrier-pushing capabilities of independent filmmaking that made A24 such an iconic studio and publisher. It manages to live up to all of the lofty expectations and hype surrounding it and will surely go down as one of the most notable films of the modern era.
Moonlight is an award-winning A24 film directed by Barry Jenkins. The coming-of-age drama explores the life of Chiron (played through his different ages as Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders, and Alex R. Hibbert), a Black man growing up in Miami. Separated into three acts that each focus on different stages of his life, the movie explores Chiron’s grappling with his identity, sexuality, and coming to terms with traumatic events from his childhood.
The A24 movie tackles complex and hard-hitting topics with a kind of grace and empathy that’s so often lacking in portrayals of these subjects. It also offers a unique perspective not often seen in mainstream cinema, giving audiences the chance to connect with its main character and appreciate the emotionally resonant arc he goes through. The film’s simple yet powerful execution has helped it attain a massive status as one of the greatest dramatic films of the 21st century, as well as one of the greatest films A24 has ever released.

Karmelo Anthony has reportedly assembled a high-profile legal team to appeal his murder conviction.
According to TMZ, a group of “heavyweight” attorneys has now joined Karmelo Anthony’s fight for freedom, specifically, his appeal attempt to overturn his murder conviction. Per the outlet, Texas NAACP President Gary Bledsoe, esteemed appellate lawyer Russell Wilson II, and reported civil rights attorney Brooke Cluse have taken over the effort to secure Anthony’s appeal.
They will reportedly conduct an independent review of his trial. Specifically, the new team will reportedly be “determining whether any errors occurred during the proceedings.” From there, the team will use their findings to support their argument for appeal.
Per NBC DFW, the lawyers will be representing Anthony pro bono.
“Our appellate team has been retained following the conviction to conduct a fresh, independent review of the trial record. We recognize the profound loss suffered by one young man’s family and the uncertainty facing another, and we extend our respect to everyone whose lives have been forever changed by these events. Our responsibility is to determine whether a legal error occurred and to ensure that every issue supported by the record is fully and vigorously presented on appeal,” the team reportedly asserted in a statement.
Social media users reacted to the update in Karmelo Anthony’s case and appeal process in TSR’s comment section.
Instagram user @wopokee wrote, “Good because it’s more to this story they hiding !”
While Instagram user @jazthebraider_ added, “Good because they trying to use him as an example. Everything was done too fast! He was too remorseful after the situation. He deserved a BETTER legal team to fight for him!”
Instagram user @jaeodraftpick wrote, “Yes, he needs an appeal and he needs to get manslaughter not murder so he could do his 30 days and 10 years probation like that other kid got in that state”
While Instagram user @chicagokingdave added, “All we want is a fair trial without all the BS”
Instagram user @claudiaa_ wrote, “His attorney is Russell Wilson II who has a very long track record of favorable outcomes in serious criminal cases and appeals in Texas he is the truth!!”
While Instagram user @lux_heyward added, “He literally has Avengers for Defense Attorneys sheesh 🔥🔥”
Instagram user @iamcalisodope wrote, “Im glad he has the support and people aren’t giving up on him”
While Instagram user @fatbellyjam added, “I trust anybody named Russell Wilson”
Instagram user @outstandonbrandon1 wrote, “They’ll probably be able to get his conviction bumped down to manslaughter, like the judge suggested to the jury.”
While Instagram user @nodiggity__ added, “I think 35 years is much, but he does deserve to serve some time. It wasn’t self defense. I just think killing him was an accident.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this month, an all-white jury convicted Karmelo Anthony of first-degree murder after he fatally stabbed Austin Metcalf at a track meet in April 2025. Furthermore, Anthony was subsequently sentenced to 35 years in prison.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Anthony’s appeal process will be underway while he remains in custody at the Wallace Pack Unit. It has been reported that the facility has a history of “excessive heat and unsafe drinking water.”
More recently, last week, footage of the moments after the fatal stabbing was publicly released.

The 2019 Chinese sci-fi film The Wandering Earth is streaming on Netflix. Directed by Frant Gwo, the movie is based on Liu Cixin’s short story of the same name. The story follows a group of astronauts as they guide the Earth away from an expanding Sun and prevent a collision with Jupiter. The goal is to move Earth to the Alpha Centauri star system.

The Wandering Earth begins in the year 2058 when a red giant Sun threatens to engulf Earth. To save humanity, a world government builds 12,000 fusion-powered engines to propel the planet out of the Solar System. Chinese astronaut Liu Peiqiang (Wu Jing) leaves his son Qi (Liu Qi) in the care of his father-in-law Han Zi’ang (Ng Man-tat) before leaving for the Navigation Platform International Space Station.

Half of humanity moves underground, while the rest perish due to the cold and various weather-related disasters. Years later, an adult Qi gets fake IDs and stolen thermal suits to take his foster sister, Han Duoduo (Zhao Jinmai), to the surface. They are arrested for their transgressions. While attempting to bribe officials for their release, Zi’ang is also jailed.
A gravitational spike causes earthquakes that put Earth on a collision course with Jupiter, setting the stage for The Wandering Earth. The group escapes and tries to reach another underground city but is forced into an emergency mission. Facing various obstacles, the film’s protagonists race against time to save everyone who calls Earth home.

The Wandering Earth received a positive response from critics and viewers who praised its special effects, grand scale, and ambitious storytelling. However, some critics pointed out flaws in its pacing and character development. The film currently holds a 70 percent critics rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes alongside a 51 percent audience score.
An enormous success upon its release, The Wandering Earth earned more than CN¥2 billion in its first six days and topping the global box office during its opening weekend. What started as a massive Chinese New Year hit quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, proving that audiences were more than willing to embrace a large-scale sci-fi adventure outside the Hollywood system. By the end of its theatrical run, the film had grossed nearly $700 million worldwide, cementing its place as one of the biggest Chinese movies ever made.

Netflix acquired the global streaming rights to The Wandering Earth, making it available to a broader international audience. The move was part of the streamer’s strategy to expand its catalog with diverse, high-quality content worldwide. The film’s production design and visual effects drew comparisons to Hollywood standards, showcasing the rapid advancements in Chinese filmmaking.

Due to the success of The Wandering Earth, a prequel, The Wandering Earth 2, was released in 2023. The story takes place before the events of the first film, as the Sun begins rapidly burning out and threatening Earth’s future. To save humanity, enormous engines are built to propel the planet to a new solar system. However, the journey is complicated, and a new generation must work together to ensure humanity’s survival.
Sci-fi fans can check out the flagship movie, The Wandering Earth, on Netflix.
The first reactions to Supergirl have arrived, and if the early buzz is any indication, DC may have another major success on its hands.
Critics and journalists who attended early screenings have praised the film’s emotional storytelling, stunning visuals, and, above all else, Milly Alcock’s performance as Kara Zor-El. Many are calling her portrayal one of the standout superhero performances in recent years, describing her Supergirl as fierce, vulnerable, rebellious, and deeply human.
Entertainment journalist Brandon Davis wrote that Supergirl is “a visually stunning and emotionally rich adventure” and praised Alcock for delivering a “star-making performance.” Others echoed that sentiment, saying she completely owns the role and creates a version of Kara that feels dramatically different from Superman while remaining just as compelling.
Several reactions have highlighted the film’s unique tone, noting that it feels less like a traditional superhero movie and more like a cosmic fantasy adventure. The story reportedly embraces the darker, more emotional elements of the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic, following Kara on an interstellar journey filled with loss, vengeance, and self-discovery.
One early reaction described the film as “heartbreaking, hilarious, and visually gorgeous,” while another praised director Craig Gillespie for creating a world that feels expansive and unlike anything previously seen in the DC Universe. Critics have also singled out the chemistry between Alcock and Eve Ridley, who plays Ruthye, saying their relationship forms the emotional core of the movie.

The praise surrounding Alcock has been especially consistent. In a recent profile, Gillespie praised the actress’s commitment and authenticity, while DC executives reportedly knew they had found their Supergirl after seeing her screen test. Her version of Kara is described as tougher, more emotionally scarred, and more rebellious than previous incarnations of the character.
That approach aligns closely with the film’s source material. Based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the movie presents Kara not as an idealized hero, but as someone carrying the trauma of Krypton’s destruction while searching for her own purpose in the universe.
With Superman helping launch the new DC Universe and Supergirl now earning rave first reactions, fans have even more reason to be excited about the future of DC Studios.
If these early impressions hold true with audiences, Milly Alcock may have just delivered the definitive live-action Supergirl for a new generation.
It looks like everyone is getting in on the “Love Island” fun this season, including the MLB. In a new social media post, the professional baseball league poked fun at season 8 contestant Kenzie Annis, who constantly breaks out in the splits. It’s been a topic of conversation among “Love Island” viewers online, and it looks like the Major League Baseball admins have been paying attention. So, what did they say exactly? Keep reading to learn more.

“Love Island” season 8 is three weeks in, and fans are starting to see more and more of the contestants’ true personalities. Annis is one of the program’s OG cast members, and over the last few weeks, she’s been busting out into the splits whenever she can. It’s sort of become her shtick, and it seems like everyone is noticing.
MLB recently shared a montage of some of its biggest stars slipping on the dirt around the bases and inadvertently dropping into the splits, captioning it: “#loveislandusa Kenzie be like…”
Fans loved the joke, as one said, “Admin is so crazy for this lmaooo,” and another wrote, “ADMIN NEEDS A RAISE – This is frying me.”

Annis captured America’s hearts in the premiere episode of “Love Island” season 8. The 24-year-old is a recent nursing school graduate from Georgia who has plenty of spunk and just as much sass.
“I literally just graduated nursing school the day before getting here,” she said in the premiere episode.
Her first few days in the villa weren’t a walk in the park, as her connection with Zach Georgiou fizzled before it even began. Days later, she linked up with cowboy Caleb McDaniel; however, she dumped the athletic Carolina native for Corbin Mims.

Aside from Annis, “Love Island” viewers have been keeping a close eye on social media over the last few days to see if production will take action with new bombshell Alannah Keyser. The 21-year-old from Miami, Florida, has been wrapped up in controversy over the last few days after a video of her appearing to use a racial slur was shared online.
“Love Island” fans know that producers don’t play when it comes to taking action against problematic cast members, as they booted Vasanna Montgomery from the show before it even started and, during season 7, kicked off two cast members after social media posts of them using racist language came to light.
The backlash Keyser is receiving has been loud, prompting her dad, Stephane Keyser, to defend her in a statement to TMZ. According to him, his “educated sweetheart” daughter can’t be racist because they’ve grown up around diverse groups of people.

Season 6 contestant Kaylor Martin recently spoke about the latest batch of episodes in an interview and gave a bit of advice to the newcomers.
“One, just stay true to you. Be the same girl you always have been. I think, if you’re not yourself on Love Island, it will read through,” she said, per The Blast. “If you’re trying to have famous Love Island one-liners, people will clock it. Just be you.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Martin opened up about her relationships with co-stars such as fan favorites Leah Kateb, JaNa Craig, and Serena Paige. “I was literally just on FaceTime with Serena this morning. It’s so hard because when we all are so busy all the time,” she said.
“I was just with Kendall and Rob in Nashville for the CMAs. That was amazing,” she said later. “Serena, JaNa, and I are planning a trip right now. And Leah just texted me to check in.”

Now that Martin is two years removed from the villa, what did the reality star learn about herself while filming the show? Well, for starters, the Pennsylvania native said she’s learned to use her voice when it matters most.
“I look at myself on TV, and I say, ‘Baby, stand up! Like, speak up for yourself!’” she said, adding that she was “very timid” in the villa but has now found her voice.
A new episode of “Love Island” will air tonight on Peacock at 9 PM ET.

Summer shoe trends can be hit or miss. Some look cute in photos but feel impossible to style in real life, while others bring back memories you’d rather leave in the past. That’s exactly how I felt about the return of jelly shoes — until one bestselling Amazon pair started changing my mind.
The Cushionaire Lattice Slip On Jelly Flats are quietly becoming one of Amazon’s most popular summer shoes. More than 4,000 pairs sold in the last month alone, and shoppers are snapping them up for a fraction of what similar designer-inspired styles cost.
Get the Cushionaire Lattice Slip On Jelly Flats for $40 (Was $60) at Amazon! Please note, prices are accurate as of the publishing date but are subject to change.
What won me over is how different they feel from the chunky jelly shoes many of us wore growing up. The pointed-toe silhouette and woven lattice design give them a much more elevated look, while the slip-on style makes them easy to wear with everything from sundresses to jeans. The clear version is especially versatile, but they also come in black, red, tortoiseshell and several other colors.
Shoppers are equally impressed. One reviewer said they were “so in love” with the flats, calling them “super comfortable” and “very trendy.” They also noted that the shoes “look like designer brand,” despite the affordable price tag.
Comfort is another reason these flats have earned such a loyal following. The flexible jelly construction moves with your foot, while the cushioned insole provides support that many trend-driven shoes lack.
The comfort factor comes up repeatedly in reviews. One shopper said they were “squealing with glee” over the nostalgic style, adding that the flats have been a “versatile addition” to their wardrobe. They also praised the “cushioning on the bottom,” saying it made all-day wear feel “comfortable and effortless.”
Another buyer admitted they were “really surprised” by the shoes, writing that they are “super comfy” with “good cushion on insoles” and soft jelly material. Several reviewers echoed similar sentiments, saying the flats feel far more comfortable than they expected from a trend-driven shoe.
If you’ve been skeptical about the ’90s jelly shoe comeback, consider this bestselling Amazon pair proof that some trends deserve a second chance. With thousands of recent sales and plenty of enthusiastic reviews, they’re an easy way to test-drive the nostalgic look without spending a fortune.

Superman actor David Corenswet is coming to Supergirl Milly Alcock’s rescue.
Corenswet, 32, stepped in to protect his costar after a photographer touched her back at the New York City premiere of Supergirl on Monday, June 22, per footage that has gone viral on social media.
In the clip, Corenswet, Alcock, 26, and Superman costars Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult are seen chatting when a photographer places a hand on Alcock’s back. Corenswet can then be seen breaking away from the conversation to exchange words with the photographer.
The actor received praise on X for his swift action, with one fan writing, “David is superman both in the movies and in real life 🥰.”
“A big respect for David for stepping up like that. Photographers need to keep their hands to themselves,” added another.
Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in the new DC Studios movie after first appearing alongside Corenswet in a cameo in 2025’s Superman. Corenswet reprises his role as Clark Kent/Superman — Kara’s cousin — in a supporting role in Supergirl, which is due for release on Friday, June 26.
The cast also includes Jason Momoa, Eve Ridley and Matthias Schoenaerts.
In May, Supergirl coproducer Peter Safran addressed casting Alcock as the latest incarnation of Supergirl, revealing how she nailed her audition.
“Everybody had tears in their eyes,” he told Variety. “She wears her heart on her sleeve; she brings so much emotion to the role. We all looked at each other and said, ‘This is absolutely perfect. She’s exactly what we want.’”
Screenwriter Ana Nogueira added, “We had really good actresses come in — like, people that gave great auditions. It’s not even really about that? It’s just like, Milly’s the girl.”
Alcock first shot to fame playing the younger version of Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon, a spinoff of Game of Thrones, before the character was aged up and later played by Emma D’Arcy.
In a March interview with Vanity Fair, Alcock reflected on Game of Thrones’ intense fandom and whether the show had prepared her for the scrutiny she’ll face from comic book fans.
“It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on. We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies,” she said. “I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.”
She added of her Supergirl, “She’s not trying to save the world — she’s just trying to save her own. This film is an excellent reminder that the world can be crumbling around you, but you can be the hero of your own story.”
Chrisean Rock and Blueface have had a rocky journey when it comes to co-parenting their son, Chrisean Jesus. From public online feuds to Blueface previously questioning the child’s paternity, the pair have faced several challenges over the years.
Well, Chrisean recently took to the internet to share where she and the rapper currently stand. While reflecting on their co-parenting dynamic, Grandma Karlissa Saffold Harvey also entered the chat with a few words of advice.
During Chrisean Rock’s Father’s Day stream, she became emotional while speaking about healing from a recent heartbreak. Chrisean also underwent another session to remove her Blueface face tattoo. She ended up opening up about the challenges of co-parenting while focusing on healing and pouring back into herself and her son, Chrisean Jesus.
In the following stream, Chrisean Rock seemingly opened up about where she stands with Blueface. She claimed Blueface was upset with her for refusing to perform with him.
While reflecting on their co-parenting situation, she shared that it has been a struggle, saying the rapper wants things done his way.
Chrisean stated that she is moving forward and has blocked Blueface while sharing, “I’ve been trying, but it just don’t work with someone like that. He’s madly in love with me, so it’s just not gonna work out. He wants it his way or no other way. Me… I don’t want nothing.”
While clips from Chrisean Rock’s stream continued making rounds online, Grandma Karlissa entered the chat with advice. Karlissa shared a clip from Chrisean Rock’s stream to her Instagram Story and wrote, “That’s not love, that’s a hole in your heart that only God can heal. You don’t put people you love in prison or the grave. Love heals all that hate.”
In a separate post, Karlissa also referenced Blueface’s longtime relationship with Jaidyn Alexis, saying she believes that situation should be respected because children are involved.
She wrote, “I would try to heal my heart with my own family before I try to heal with a man that will have to continue to see the kids and the woman you met him with. They need to heal first because their children are almost halfway grown. This is why I tell all y’all young ladies to have respect for the First Lady. I’m tired of y’all and her wishing bad on mines! We don’t want none of it now. Get tf on and take yo fans with you please.”
Karlissa also defended her son, Blueface, writing, “John definitely only wanted to help her with her son. We will know her heart is pure and changed when she tell y’all the truth because it’s clear that if he wanted her it wouldn’t be a problem.”
While Chrisean Rock and Karlissa continued to discuss the co-parenting situation, Blueface was over on X, reflecting on fatherhood. On Father’s Day, the rapper shared photos with his son, Javaughn, and daughter, Journey, alongside the caption, “Ain’t no hood harder than fatherhood.” He later tweeted, “I did a Father’s Day shoot with my kids and I think it’s funny people are surprised that I don’t have many kids.”
Blueface also revealed that he would like to expand his family, adding, “I would like to have more kids tho tho.”

Oprah Winfrey hosted 25 seasons of her iconic daytime talk show. Over the course of the series’ run, music legend Whitney Houston appeared multiple times. Now, almost 15 years after the singer’s death, Winfrey is facing backlash after sharing a story of her falling off stage during a performance amid her addiction.
This comes less than a week after former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell opened up about her attempts to save Houston’s life.

According to Variety, Winfrey appeared at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June 2026, where she received the LionHeart Award. While speaking on stage at the Lumière Theatre, the talk show legend discussed a multitude of topics, including Houston. Overall, she used her appearance to speak about purpose and responsibility.
When speaking about one of her interviews with the “I Wanna Dance With Somebody ” singer, Winfrey said, “We did the whole, ‘Hey girl, how you doing?’ greeting thing and then I stopped the cameras, and I went behind stage, and I said, ‘So tell me, what do you want to happen here? And I’m gonna tell you what I want to happen here.’”
After that, she summed up the interview with Houston after having previously touched base with her, saying, “And that was one of the most powerful interviews.”

Winfrey continued her discussion about her onscreen interactions with Houston. Namely, she recalled the singer returning to “The Oprah Winfrey” show after she’d relapsed. Unfortunately, according to Winfrey, the icon fell while performing for the studio audience.
She said on stage, “I had such trust from ‘The Oprah Show’ audience … I think it was [Houston’s] last show with us, and she had gone back on drugs.”
The 72-year-old continued, “The first interview I did with her when we’d gone behind stage and I asked her about her intention, she was clean, but the day she came to my show then to perform in front of the audience, she was not, and she fell off of the stage.”
In that moment, Winfrey wanted to protect Houston and asked the audience for privacy. She stated, “I knew that if that story got out … she would be destroyed by that. And so even though the audience was there and the audience had cameras, I begged them not to put those pictures out because it would ruin her life, and they did not. That would not happen today, I can tell you that.”

Following Winfrey’s comments about Houston, she’s receiving a ton of backlash. Overall, people wonder why the TV legend decided to tell the unfortunate story about Houston after previously wanting to protect her from it.
One person said, “But what’s the point of saying that now? Why? Allow her to rest in peace.” Someone else said, “Oprah, honey, you should’ve taken this to the grave cause why tell it now? Let Nippy REST.”
A different social media douted Winfrey’s story about Houston, saying, “I’ll take facts that aren’t facts for 700 Alex. Those pics would be out by now.”
Another person said, “This lady loves speaking on the dead……. Just shut up. There is no need for this story years after her death.”
Lastly, someone else commented, “Oprah Winfrey is truly evil, I swear! Same case she tried to sell about MJ, is the exact same case she’s trying to sell about Whitney, & most interestingly, it’s always AFTER THE PERSON HAS DIED. Always!”

Houston last appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 2009. She sat for the interview Winfrey mentioned, where they had a heart-to-heart before the discussion, and then returned later that year to perform. Notably, her final album, “I Look to You,” was released in August of that year.
Per The Boston Herald, Winfrey released a statement ahead of the interview’s release. She said, “My approach to this interview was to not be judgmental in any way, and not to go in trying to get her to say things to make a ‘moment.’”
Winfrey then said of the interview, “I just wanted to be able to have an honest conversation with her. One woman to another woman. And the day of the interview, I literally prayed about that all day long. I just wanted a connection between the two of us. And that is what happened. And that is why I believe it’s one of the most, if not the most, powerful interviews I’ve ever done.”

During her appearance at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Winfrey also reflected on the legacy of her talk show and how she wanted it to be a “force for good.” Per Deadline, she recalled, “I said to the producer, ‘We’re not going to let TV use us any more. We’re going to use it as a force for good.”
She continued, “Every show we do, in some form or another, is going to speak to their lives and what the yearning and the search is for all of us.”

“I knew that if that story got out that she’d fallen off the stage, that she would be completely destroyed by that,” Winfrey said.
Madonna has never been afraid to turn pain into art, but her latest project may be her most personal yet. While working on “Confessions II,” the pop icon found herself confronting grief, family wounds, and relationships that have shaped her life for decades.
Among the album’s most meaningful moments is a collaboration with daughter Lourdes Leon, which Madonna now says became something far bigger than music.
According to the singer, the creative process helped repair old wounds and opened a new chapter in their relationship.

For Madonna, “Confessions II” wasn’t born from a desire to simply make another dance record. Instead, the singer found herself drawing inspiration from an emotionally turbulent period in her personal life.
During a recent conversation with Interview Magazine, the Queen of Pop revealed that the project was heavily influenced by major losses within her family.
“I had a lot of stuff going on in my life personally. My brother was very, very, very ill, and my stepmother, with whom I’d had a very traumatic relationship throughout my entire childhood, had just died,” she explained.
Rather than avoid those feelings, Madonna used songwriting as an outlet. She revealed, “It’s hard for me to write a song about nothing. I have to tell a story.”
That storytelling led her to explore years of family trauma before eventually blending those emotions into the dance-driven sound fans know her for.

One of the most surprising revelations from the interview involved Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes Leon.
While the mother-daughter duo has collaborated before, Madonna revealed that a song they wrote together carried deeper emotional significance.
“The song I wrote with my daughter, Lola. She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship,” she shared.
The 67-year-old described the experience as a turning point, noting, “It was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record.”
Reflecting on the timing of everything, she connected Lourdes’ approach to a series of major family events unfolding around her.
“Well, all these symbolic things happened. My step-mother died, my brother was ill, my brother died, my daughter approached me… you know what I mean?” Madonna stated.
For the star, the album ultimately became a way to release emotions she had been carrying for years.

Madonna’s revelation may have surprised some fans, but both she and Lourdes have previously acknowledged challenges in their relationship.
In a 2021 interview with Interview Magazine, Lourdes spoke candidly about growing up with one of the most famous mothers in the world, describing it as having “extreme privilege.”
She explained that Madonna strongly encouraged independence. “I think my mom saw all these other kids of famous people, and she was like, ‘My kids are not going to be like this,’” Lourdes revealed.
Lourdes also admitted she worked hard to establish herself outside of her mother’s shadow. The 29-year-old described Madonna as a control freak and noted that she knew she had become completely independent after graduating high school.
Despite those comments, the pair have remained close professionally and personally.

The new album’s emotional foundation was also shaped by the death of Madonna’s brother, Christopher Ciccone.
Following his passing in 2024 after a battle with cancer, the “Material Girl” singer shared a deeply personal tribute on social media.
“My brother Christopher is gone. He was the closest human to me for so long,” Madonna posted. She described a bond that was formed through their shared experiences growing up.
She said, “It’s hard to explain our bond. But it grew out of an understanding that we were different and society was going to give us a hard time for not following the status quo.”
Dance became one of the strongest connections between them, with Madonna describing it as the “superglue that held us together.”
Away from their sibling relationship, Ciccone played an important role in Madonna’s career, working as her backup dancer, dresser, and art director before their relationship eventually unraveled.

While Madonna and her brother shared years of closeness, their relationship later became one of the most public family feuds in the entertainment industry.
As Ciccone devoted more of his life to supporting Madonna’s career, tensions reportedly began to build.
His frustrations eventually exploded into public view in 2000 when he referred to his sister as an “evil queen” in a leaked email.
“I guess I always thought that one day you’d see my worth and behave accordingly… but you never did… a little f***ing respect was all I ever wanted from you and you couldn’t even manage that,” Ciccone added per the Daily Mail.
The divide deepened further when he co-authored the tell-all memoir “Life with My Sister Madonna,” which offered an unfiltered look at their complicated dynamic.
