10 Best Songs of the Last 10 Years

The last decade has been an excellent one for music fans in every genre, with the release of countless phenomenal albums and hit singles by both new artists and ones who have been making music for a long time. There have been so many excellent songs released this past decade, but the very best are notable for their unique sound, well-written lyrics, and beautiful vocals.

There are 10 songs in particular that really stand out as the best ones to be released between the years of 2016 and 2026. From gut-wrenching ballads that will have you sobbing, to fast-paced songs that will make you want to get up and dance, these songs all stand out amongst the rest. These are the 10 best songs of the last decade, ranked.

10

“Don’t Start Now” (2019)

Dua Lipa

In her 2021 GRAMMYS acceptance speech for Best Pop Vocal Album for her 2020 album, Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa spoke about intentionally centering happiness in the album. Future Nostalgia‘s lead single, “Don’t Start Now,” perfectly exemplifies this. The upbeat nu-disco breakup song describes bouncing back from heartbreak with a new attitude, acknowledging the past pain but ready to move forward and come out of it stronger.

“Don’t Start Now” is the sort of song that you just can’t help but get up and dance to, with its excellent beat and empowering lyrics. Lipa has had a number of wonderful hit songs this past decade. That said, “Don’t Start Now” really stands out with its reflective and playful lyrics, excellent production, and amazing utilization of her powerful vocals – especially in that final chorus after the bridge.

“All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” (2021)

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift‘s “All Too Well” was first released as one of the songs on her fourth album, Red, in 2012. When Swift re-recorded the album and released Red (Taylor’s Version) in 2021, she added nine tracks “from the vault,” including the long-anticipated 10-minute version of All Too Well. Nearly twice the length of the original version, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” somehow improves on the already-breathtaking ballad with the addition of new verses that deepen the meaning of the song.

“All Too Well” was always a devastating song about heartbreak and the struggle to let go, but “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” is downright haunting. The song describes additional and very specific memories that the narrator had with her love, as well as the ways that she had to compromise pieces of herself to hold onto this love. “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” describes both losing a great love, and the desperation of needing confirmation that this meant even a fraction as much to the other person as it did to her. The whole song is stunning, but there is something so agonizingly beautiful about that final verse, where Swift asks, “And did the twin flame bruise paint you blue? Just between us, did the love affair maim you, too?”

8

“DtMF” (2025)

Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny is a true standout amongst the last decade of musicians, and his Grammy-Award-winning 2025 album, DeBÍ TiRAR Más FOToS (which translates to “I Should Have Taken More Photos”) is especially extraordinary. The album’s titular song and fourth single, “DtMF,” hits on its core themes of love, loss, and the gentrification of Puerto Rico in a poignant way, and it just has a really excellent beat. “DtMF” combines the Afro-Puerto Rican music style plena with thoughtful and sweetly sad lyrics for a truly memorable song.

In “DtMF,” Bad Bunny reflects on the loss of a past love, expressing regrets about the additional memories that he could have had with loved ones. He describes struggling to enjoy the present while wishing for more time with a past love, to say everything that was left unsaid and take more pictures. He also talks about moving on and experiencing life with his loved ones while still wishing his past love could be there, simultaneously appreciating special present-day moments while mourning ones that can never be recreated.

“Vodka Cranberry” (2025)

Conan Gray

Nobody writes about heartache and longing quite like Conan Cray does, as proven once again by his 2025 album, Wishbone. The album’s lead single, “Vodka Cranberry,” is one of the most raw and gut-wrenching breakup songs of the last decade. “Vodka Cranberry” tells the story of a lovesick narrator realizing that his love is no longer requited, and trying to bring himself to cut off the relationship rather than stay with someone who can no longer return that love.

“Vodka Cranberry” is the sort of song that knocks the wind out of you. It has beautiful and deeply personal lyrics, such as, “Yeah, I notice everything you do since the time we took a break; everybody knows you don’t love me the same.” Gray’s vocals on this song, too, are particularly impressive – most notably that stunning high note at the end of the bridge that smoothly transitions into a goosebumps-inducing key change for the final chorus.

6

“Not Like Us” (2024)

Kendrick Lamar

This past decade saw the release of three studio albums and a number of excellent singles by Kendrick Lamar. A particular standout is Lamar’s 2024 diss track, “Not Like Us,” which he released as part of an ongoing feud with Drake. This feud inspired multiple brilliantly-written and scathing songs from Lamar, including “Euphoria” and “Meet the Grahams,” but “Not Like Us” is the best and most iconic song to come out of this feud.

“Not Like Us” is an absolutely ruthless and deeply specific diss track that does not hold back at all, using unbelievably clever wordplay and a phenomenal beat to call Drake out with an extensive list of grievances and misdeeds. Unsurprisingly, the song blew up when it was released, and it is considered to be the track that won the battle for Lamar. It also went on to win five Grammy Awards the following year.

5

“The Cure” (2026)

Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo has had some of the biggest songs of the past decade, with hits like “Driver’s License,” Good 4 U,” and “Vampire.” Her 2026 album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, is the perfect addition to her existing discography, with insightful love songs and gutting heartbreak songs. The album’s second single, “The Cure,” is a notable standout from the last decade, both for its sound and its lyrics. With “The Cure,” Rodrigo acknowledges the notion that young people, particularly young women, have always been told: that a happily ever after lies in finding romantic love with the right person. Here, Rodrigo questions, what happens if you’re happily in love, but you’re still not happy?

“The Cure” is a deeply introspective and vulnerable song that describes being in love and wanting to enjoy that feeling, but having to deal with this positive thing being drowned out by mental health struggles and personal insecurities. The entire song is absolutely devastating, as the narrator admits over and over to both herself and her love that the relationship is just not enough to save her. It all builds up to one of the most breathtaking bridges of this last decade, which layers multiple harmonies of Rodrigo repeatedly singing, “I’m unraveled,” before moving into an absolutely gutting lamentation: “Why can’t you come stitch me up? Why can’t it ever be enough?”

4

“Good Luck, Babe!” (2024)

Chappell Roan

Following the release of her debut album, The Ride and Fall of a Midwest Princess, in 2023, Chappell Roan released “Good Luck, Babe!” as a single the following year. The song quickly exploded in popularity, and it’s easy to see why. With devastating lyrics about compulsory heterosexuality set to a wildly catchy synth-pop beat, “Good Luck, Babe!” is one of the most unique and captivating songs of the last decade.

In the song, Roan describes falling in love with a woman who feels the same way, but who is still trying to convince herself that she is straight. Throughout the song, the narrator reflects on her own pain and what she wants out of a relationship, while simultaneously warning the subject of the song that she will regret this one day. The entire song is electric from start to finish, but especially notable are the gut-punch of a bridge, and the haunting last lyric from the chorus, “You’d have to stop the world just to stop the feeling.”

3

“Blinding Lights” (2019)

The Weeknd

The Weeknd has some of the biggest hits of this past decade, including “Starboy” and “Save Your Tears,” but his 2019 single, “Blinding Lights,” is especially fantastic. The synth-pop song has a great beat and a fast pace that makes it impossible not to get up to sing and dance along to, but even more impressive is how the upbeat sound disguises quietly sad and pensive lyrics. The Weeknd has perfected the art of weaving devastating lyrics into catchy dance songs, and this is especially evident in “Blinding Lights.”

In a 2020 interview with Esquire, The Weeknd said that “Blinding Lights” is about an overpowering loneliness and desperation to see someone, that leads the narrator to take a risky late-night drive. There is an air of longing and heartache that lingers over “Blinding Lights” that pairs perfectly with its strong beat and excellent production. If listeners pay close attention, they’re rewarded with beautifully gutting lyrics, like, “I’m just walking by to let you know, I could never say it on the phone, will never let you go this time.”

2

“Formation” (2016)

Beyoncé

If you look back on the past several decades, Beyoncé is responsible for some of the most incredible songs of each, and 2016–2026 is no exception. “Formation” was released as a single ahead of Beyoncé’s iconic 2016 album, “Lemonade,” and it is no doubt one of the very best songs from this decade. Combining the music styles of trap and bounce with clever and powerful lyrics, “Formation” is Beyoncé’s celebration of her heritage and her identity as a Black woman.

Following its release, “Formation” won a number of awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Music Video the following year. Beyoncé’s 2016 Super Bowl performance of “Formation” is one of the most breathtaking and defining live performances of this past decade. At this point, now a decade after its release, “Formation” already has an impressive legacy. It is also truly just a stunningly well-made and well-written song, with lyrics that urge those hearing it to listen closely, all up until its perfect and cheeky final line: “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper.”

1

“Black Swan” (2020)

BTS

What happens to a musician when they lose their passion for the thing they love the most? Who do they become, when music can no longer make them feel what it used to? “Black Swan,” the first single from BTS‘ (first, ahead of BE) 2020 album, “Map of the Soul: 7,” tackles this question head-on. The song is a deeply personal confession of this fear, both responding to and building off of the iconic quote by choreographer Martha Graham (which is quoted at the start of the official “Black Swan” art film): “A dancer dies twice — once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” “Black Swan” is an achingly intimate and confessional song with gut-wrenchingly honest lyrics that almost feel like we the listeners shouldn’t be allowed to hear.

Sonically, “Black Swan” is absolutely beautiful. It has excellent production, breathtaking vocals from Jin, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, and captivating rap verses from RM, Suga, and J-Hope, all set to a powerful beat with stunning instrumentals. What really makes “Black Swan” so outstanding, though, is how painfully raw it both sounds and feels. The entirety of “Black Swan” reveals BTS’ fear of losing their passion for music, with stunning lyrics that describe that feeling as one of drowning and ending up on the ocean floor, and it never undercuts its meaning by trying to provide a solution beyond simply continuing to have hope in the face of this very real possibility. “Black Swan” is unrelenting in its depiction of this terrifying fear and the unbelievable pain that accompanies it, leaving listeners with a mix of both hope and unease in the wake of this confession when the song concludes. It’s an impressive and awe-inspiring feat that’s by no means easy to pull off, and it’s the final element that cements “Black Swan” as an absolute masterpiece.

Taylor Swift’s Wedding Trash Sold Out In 24 Hours

Published

on

Taylor Swift Red Carpet

Taylor Swift’s trash from her star-studded wedding to Kelce has sold online, generating a reasonable amount of money for the New York artist who collected it.

The “Bad Blood” singer previously sparked debate as fans engaged in a bidding war to own a courtside seat she used during an NBA game with Kelce.

Reports suggest the couple is considering an “ultra-private” honeymoon at a luxury resort that could cost up to half a million dollars per week.

Taylor Swift’s much-talked-about wedding to Travis Kelce on July 3 was easily the most exclusive event of the year, with guests reportedly required to sign a strict NDA and abide by a no-recording policy.

However, one local artist found a way to package a piece of the magic for Swifties and made money from it.

New York-based artist Justin Gignac, who is known for his long-running “New York City Garbage” project, combed the streets just outside the famous Madison Square Garden, where the couple’s nuptials were held, and carted away trash and debris from the event.

He then packaged some of his discoveries into several tiny, transparent acrylic cubes, sealed them airtight, and listed them online for $25 apiece. He also created larger boxes priced at $100 each. According to AFP, the smaller cubes sold out in less than 24 hours.

Gignac could not find any of the fandom’s signature beaded friendship bracelets but still managed to paint a chaotic, vivid picture of how the night unfolded.

Some of his packaged mementos included cigarette butts and used straws, a lost left AirPod, an ovulation test kit, police caution tape, water bottle caps, and plastic utensils.

In a conversation with the BBC, he said he figured the “Fate Of Ophelia” singer’s fans would “never want to part” with her and her husband’s wedding garbage, so he packaged the items inside small cubes that they could “take with them wherever they go.”

“It’s getting a lot of Swifties who just want a tangential piece of the wedding,” he told AFP, adding that he had made over $1,250 from selling 50 items and would consider bringing more to the market for Swifties.

“I try to commemorate cultural moments in New York City, and this seemed to be a big one, so just capturing a little time capsule from that moment in time,” he said.

‘Lost’ Taylor Swift Guitar Goes Up For Auction

Swift’s fans have had no problem going overboard to snap up items linked to the pop star, no matter the cost.

Earlier this year, staff at New Country 96.3 discovered an acoustic guitar that had sat “lost” at the Dallas radio station for nearly 20 years. The guitar was covered in faded autographs from several major country stars, including Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, the Eli Young Band, Kevin Fowler, and Gary Allan.

However, promotions director Jessica MacKenzie-Williams noticed the then-teenage Swift’s signature alongside the year 2008, when she released her second album, “Fearless.”

“I couldn’t believe it,” MacKenzie-Williams said in a news release.

When the hosts of the “Hawkeye in the Morning” show, Mark “Hawkeye” Louis and Michelle Rodriguez, heard about it, they dubbed it “The Lost Taylor Swift Guitar.” They then put it up for auction to raise money for Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, with a minimum bid of $5,000.

“This guitar has already had an incredible journey,” Louis said. “Now it gets to make a difference for kids who need it most.”

Taylor Swift’s Courtside Seat Sells For $7,000

In the same vein, Swift sparked a heated conversation online when the courtside seat she occupied during a May appearance with her then-fiancé at Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers was listed for auction on The Realest.

“As one of the most recognized and influential artists of her generation, the occupant of this chair has earned worldwide acclaim through a career defined by commercial success, critical recognition, and multiple Grammy Award victories,” the bidding description on the site read, per ESPN. “Her attendance reflects the cultural reach of the NBA Playoffs and the significance of the Eastern Conference Finals as one of the most visible events in sports.”

The chair received multiple bids, starting at just $100, before the price surpassed $6,000 as fans went back and forth over the right to own the piece.

It eventually sold for $7,000, while Kelce’s courtside seat reportedly fetched $1,405.

At the time, many social media users described the bidding war as “absurd.”

Swift And Kelce Pack On The PDA At A Friend’s Wedding

Swift and Kelce have stepped out looking deeply in love since tying the knot. Over the weekend, they made a PDA-filled appearance at the wedding ceremony of Kelce’s former teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster and Laura Kruk.

She wore a pink, strapless, floor-length gown featuring floral brocade designs, along with her signature red lipstick, while the Kansas City Chiefs tight end kept things suave in a classic suit and tie, per TMZ.

Reports suggest they are considering an “ultra-private” honeymoon, with the historic San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito emerging as their rumored destination.

“They just don’t want anything getting leaked,” a source told Star Magazine. “They want to be able to enjoy this special time with total privacy.”

“There’s the option to rent out the entire property, which she’d likely want to do for privacy, and that can cost upwards of $500K for a week,” the insider explained.

The 15 Best Dad Movies Of All Time

Published

The 15 Best Dad Movies Of All Time

By Jonathan Klotz
| Updated

It’s not a particular genre like science fiction, fantasy, or drama, but there’s no denying the power of a great dad movie. Dad movies are perfect for men of a certain age, but what exactly makes a movie a dad movie, is up for debate. After going through countless films, I think Dad movies are about competent men excelling through their devotion to duty, personal ethics, a particular set of skills, and overcoming the odds.

That and movies where you can fall asleep in the middle and still enjoy the third act. Dads love a good nap!

These are the 15 best Dad movies of all time.

15. Rudy

Al Bundy once scored 4 touchdowns in a single game to win the city championship for Polk High against their rival, Andrew Johnson High. A lot of Dads out there think they can still go, one last time, and win the game. No movie gives hope to the underdog like Rudy

Starring Sean Astin before he carried Frodo into Mordor, Rudy is the true story of Daniel “Rudy” Ruttiger, the undersized football player who lacks the grades to make into Notre Dame. By devoting himself to his goal, Rudy earns the grades he needs, and walks onto the Fighting Irish. Even then, he never makes it to the field.

Until the very last play, of his very last game as a Senior.

The beauty of Rudy is that it’s not really a football movie. You can know nothing about the gridiron and still lose your mind cheering by the end of the film. Pursuing a dream with everything in you, letting nothing stand in your way, that’s universal.

14. Ocean’s 11

Sauve, sophisticated, and able to outsmart everyone, George Clooney’s Danny Ocean is what every Dad sees when they look at themselves in the mirror. As a gentleman thief, Clooney drips cool in every single shot. Add to that the rest of the crew, and what guy hasn’t wanted to knock off a Vegas casino with the boys?

It’s the crew, including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Bernice Mac, Elliot Gould, and Dan Cheadle, that turns Ocean’s 11 into a full-on Dad movie.

They may be thieves, explosives experts, pickpockets, and con artists, but they look out for each other. It’s unconventional, but it’s a bond of brotherhood and male friendship that every Dad wants to have with the boys. That and heist movies are fun, and Ocean’s 11 is such a breezy, light watch that it’s impossible to not enjoy yourself. Ocean’s 12 was a step back, and Ocean’s 13 was a return to form, but nothing beats the first film.

13. The Blues Brothers

It started with a harmonica and a dream. Dan Aykroyd turned his love of blues music into The Blues Brothers, a Saturday Night Live sketch with John Belushi, and then, in 1980, they took to the big screen with the greatest movie about getting the band back together. On a mission from God to save an orphanage, Jake and Elwood Blues tear up the state of Illinois, resulting in an unforgettable chase through a mall and the largest pile-up in movie history.

It’s fun, it’s frenetic, and along with a love for history, most Dads start to appreciate the blues as they get older. The Blues Brothers has a killer soundtrack and cameos from classic blues musicians, and then soul singers Aretha Franklin and James Brown, among many, many other cameos. Steven Spielberg, Carrie Fisher, Paul Reubens, Joe Walsh, John Candy; it’s a who’s who of the late 70s and early 80s.

Teaching your kids to appreciate The Blues Brothers is a rite of passage.

12. Major League

“Just a bit outside.” “He leads the league in most offensive categories, including nosehair.”

As Dads, we love running movie quotes into the ground. Combined with baseball and a team of underdogs, Major League is a perfect summer movie for Dads. Bob Uecker’s commentary alone is worth rewatching it for the 50th time. Chances are, there’s a new throwaway joke or visual gag you’ll pick up on.

Charlie Sheen as “Wild Thing” Ricky Vaughn is the role he was born to play, while Major League is a reminder of why he became an A-list star in the first place. And if you don’t start stomping your feet and singing Wild Thing during the playoff game against the most hated team in baseball, the New York Yankees, then you are clinically dead.

Major League is nearly 40 years old, and the comedy still holds up. It’s better than a lot of today’s comedies; even if the Cleveland Indians no longer exist, it’s a timeless dad movie you can throw on and endlessly quote all Summer long.

11. The Fugitive

In the 90s, Harrison Ford achieved peak Dad movie. Air Force One, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, it was an incredible run. The best of the best, though, is 1993’s The Fugitive

As the wrongfully accused Dr. Richard Kimble, Ford’s charismatic swagger takes a backseat to his frantic escape from the clutches of Tommy Lee Jones U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard. The sewer-drain standoff between the two is so good, it helped win Jones an Oscar.

The Fugitive is one of the leanest movies ever made. There’s no extra padding anywhere. It’s a man on the run from the feds, trying to solve his wife’s murder. That’s it. It’s two hours long, but feels shorter. The moment the prison bus breakout happens, The Fugitive hits the gas and doesn’t let up.

Like Taken, every Dad has people in their life that if something happened to them, they’d risk everything. Dr. Kimble goes headfirst down a waterfall, hunts down his wife’s killer, uncovers a conspiracy, and does it all while avoiding the U.S. Marshals. When we tell our families that nothing would stop us, we like to think we’d be Dr. Richard Kimble and that we’d look as cool as Harrison Ford.

10. The Great Escape

There was some discussion here at Giant Freakin Robot about which Steve McQueen movie to include. The Magnificent Seven? The Thomas Crown Affair? Bullitt? The best of them is The Great Escape, the 1963 war epic about Allied Prisoners of War escaping from behind German lines.

Loosely based on the true story of a British breakout during World War 2, The Great Escape is so good; even if you’ve never seen it, you’ve seen movies and shows that have taken bits and pieces of it. Dads love history, and World War 2 history is so popular that the History Channel existed for years on nothing but shows about the war.

The Great Escape combines the setting with award-winning performances, and Steve McQueen doing Steve McQueen things, this time on a motorcycle, to become one of the best dad movies of all time. The cast list is a who’s who of the era’s greatest male stars, including Charles Bronson, James Garner, Donald Pleasance, Richard Attenborough, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E., David McCallum.

The Great Escape isn’t the easiest watch on this list, but it’s filled with men doing the right thing and continuing to fight. They never lose hope.

9. Braveheart

Dads love history. Dads love epic battle scenes. Even if it plays a little fast and loose with the real history of William Wallace, Braveheart is fun. Alright, that may be a strange way to describe a movie where the hero is eviscerated, but you will get goose bumps at Mel Gibson’s battle cry, “They may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!”

Dads want to protect their family. That’s the basis for a lot of these Dad movies: to William Wallace, every Scot was part of his family. He waged war for his country, and he re-shaped the history of England through sheer force of will. Even while being tortured to death, he refuses to back down on his principles, refuses to submit to England, and how can you not get moved by that scene?

What you don’t know about Braveheart is that it got a legacy sequel, Robert the Bruce, with Angus Macfadyen reprising his role as….Robert the Bruce. It was barely released outside of England, lacks the over-the-top bombast of Braveheart, and you’re better off re-watching Mel Gibson’s Best Picture-winning historical epic for the 20th time.

8. Kevin Costner

yellowstone kevin costner

Trying to find the greatest Dad movie out of Kevin Costner’s filmography is impossible. Is it Dances with Wolves? Tin Cup? Field of Dreams? The Bodyguard? Bull Durham? The Untouchables? Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves? The hill I’ll die on is that Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is an incredible movie and I’m not the strange one for loving it.

That’s not even counting Horizon: An American Saga or all of his work on Yellowstone. There’s something about Costner’s acting style that makes him the perfect middle-aged (or uh, older) man. He’s able to be stoic, but emotionally vulnerable, strong but tender. Kevin Costner is America’s Dad.

That said, he was unable to act with a British accent (I’ll admit Mel Brooks was right), but Costner is singlehandedly working to bring back the Western. There’s nothing more American, and few genres are more beloved by Dads than the Western. Once he finishes his Horizon Saga, it might be the greatest modern Western.

Until then, pick a random movie from his IMDb (except The Postman), kick back, and relax in the presence of the ultimate Dad.

7. Goodfellas

In 1990, The Godfather Part 3 was overshadowed by another Mafia movie, Goodfellas.  It was more frenetic, with a focus on one Wise Guy who breaks with the family: Ray Liotta’s Henry Hill. You could argue that Joe Pesci steals the film as Tommy DeVito, who’s funny like a clown, but it’s all about the rise and fall of Henry Hill’s cocaine empire before he becomes a stool pigeon.

There’s something about the world of the Mafia that’s appealing to Dads. Is it the freedom to do, mostly, what they want? Is it the brotherhood of Made Men? Is it that a life of organized crime seems more exciting than going to the office each day to pick up that phone and make sales calls? Whatever the reason, you can’t deny their success.

Goodfellas has aged as well as The Godfather, and there’s even a large chunk of the audience that thinks it’s better. It’s not, but they can think that. What it does contain is the greatest shot in movie history; so good, it’s referred to as “The Copa Shot.” Henry Hill walking his girl, Karen through the Copacabana is a two and half minute long tracking shot that took an unimaginable amount of skill and coordination to pull off.

It looks amazing, and it sums up everything great about Goodfellas: Ray Liotta’s performance as Henry Hill, the extravagant Mafia lifestyle, power, and freedom.

6. The Hunt For Red October

hunt for red october

If a Dad doesn’t have a pile of Tom Clancy books in the house, is he really a Dad?

Tom Clancy novels are engineered in a lab to appeal to Dads. CIA Analyst Jack Ryan is highly competent, dedicated to his job, and knows more than his bosses. It’s middle-aged escapism, and you know what? It’s awesome.

The first novel, The Hunt for Red October, is also the best movie, starring Adam Baldwin as Jack Ryan and Sean Connery as the renegade Russian Captain Marko. It’s filled with men sacrificing everything for honor and doing what they know is right for their country, even as their country is trying to stop them.

Submarine movies are few and far between. The Hunt for Red October perfected the military sub-genre…get it?…..it’s a sub-genre of military movies but also….they are on a sub. I thought it was funny.

Jack Ryan movies have stopped, but the character lives on through Amazon Prime’s Jack Ryan series starring John Krasinski, the latest actor to take up the mantle. Maybe someday we’ll finally get a Jack Ryan as President movie. Or Rainbow Six. Now that would be fun.

As for The Hunt for Red October, it’s 42 years old, which is also the age of its target audience. It’s been considered a classic since the day it was released. Which is impressive, since it’s all subplot. Get it? Subplot? Alright, fine, next entry.

5. Top Gun

It’s impossible to talk about the greatest Dad movies without taking the HIGHWAY TO THE DANGER ZONE.

Top Gun turned Tom Cruise into a star, made the Navy cool, redefined action movies, and forever changed how Hollywood filmed planes.

The opening five minutes set the mood, from the orchestral Top Gun theme right into Kenny Loggins ’ DANGER ZONE over footage of planes taking off and landing on an aircraft carrier. If you ever get the chance to see it in the theater, you have to. The 1986 blockbuster is still one of the best-looking films ever.

Part of what makes a film a great Dad movie is seeing competent men doing their jobs better than anyone else, proving their doubters wrong, and looking awesome in the process. Tom Cruise’s Maverick does all of that, while also piloting the cutting-edge F14-A Tomcat at speeds we can barely imagine.

Top Gun is a great example of how men make friends. Maverick and Ice Man despise each other, but not really, because when the chips are down, they are on the same team working for the same goal. How many men made a lifelong friend on the playground by getting into a fight? That’s how we operate.

Top Gun: Maverick is another great Dad movie, but nothing will ever capture the feeling of the original.

4. Gladiator

“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the armies of the North, general of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”

That has to be one of the greatest movie quotes of all time. Russel Crowe goes hard in his delivery, and thanks to his Oscar-winning performance, Gladiator is an all-time great movie. In the year 2000, it had been decades since swords and sandals epics were considered blockbusters. Gladiator changed that.

Everything that makes a great Dad movie is here: a skilled, talented father out for revenge over the death of his family, an entire civilization that wants him to fail, and he wins them over with his never-give-up attitude. Russell Crowe understood the assignment. He refused to do a love scene with Lucilla, knowing that it would undercut the mission to avenge his wife if he slept with another woman.

That’s green flag behavior and more evidence that Gladiator is one of the best Dad movies of all time.

The sequel…not so much. Maybe we’ll come around on it in a few years, but it’s hard to top Maximus Decimus Meridius mission for vengeance, in this life or the next.

3. Die Hard

predator die hard

It’s the greatest action movie of all time. It single-handedly redefined the entire genre, and it turned Bruce Willis into a movie star. Die Hard is one of the 80s greatest Dad movies. Willis’ John McLane isn’t a special forces operative; he’s not a secret agent trained to kill; he’s a New York City cop who finds himself in the middle of a hostage situation.

Using nothing but his wits and a never-say-die attitude, he turns the tables on Hans Gruber, saves the day, and maybe wins back his ex-wife. It helps that it’s filled with great quotes you can annoy your family with for days after watching the movie.

The first two sequels are also great films, Die Hard With A Vengeance, the third film, includes Samuel L. Jackson. The chemistry between Jackson and Willis is electric. The only thing holding it back from being on this list is, well, Die Hard. The original is a nearly perfect movie.

Die Hard only misses out on our top spot because the next two films are peak “Dadcore.”

2. The Godfather

megalopolis

The Godfather is one of the greatest Dad movies of all time.

Wait, I have to actually explain why The Godfather is so good? Seriously? Who hasn’t seen Francis Ford Coppola’s epic saga of the Corleone crime family?

The Godfather is so good it forever changed how the Mafia is viewed, forever changed crime movies, and without The Godfather, we never would have been able to endlessly quote Goodfellas and The Sopranos.

Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, Robert Duvall, all of them turn in all-time classic performances. These men didn’t break the mold for Mafia crime movies; they created the mold. Dads love Mafia movies. These men, this film, it’s responsible for all of them.

Dads also love quotes, “Take the gun, leave the cannoli.”

A man who doesn’t spend time with his family can’t be a real man,” and of course,

“I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse.”

The Godfather gave us the greatest lines in the history of movies. The Godfather is over 50 years old, and no Mafia movie since has been able to replace it. You’ve got Goodfellas, you’ve got Scarface, Casino, The Irishman, all great, but nothing beats the original.

1. Master and Commander: Far Side Of The World

russell crowe

Historical? Check. Men fulfilling a duty to God and country? Check. Men forming bonds under fire in the worst situations? Check. Skilled and talented men proving their worth time and time again? Check. A dumb dad joke in the middle of the film? Check.

Russell Crowe? Also check.

Master and Commander: Far Side of the World is the greatest Dad movie of all time.

The 2003 naval epic completed Russell Crowe’s trifecta, starting with Gladiator, then A Beautiful Mind, and ending onboard the British warship Surprise, off the coast of 19th-century Brazil. Tasked with protecting British shipping lanes, the Surprise needs to hunt down the French privateer, Acheron, before it cripples the war against Napoleon.

There aren’t enough movies being made about sailing ships. Master and Commander did it better than any movie before or since, with an eye for historical detail that will forever delight every history buff Dad. Life on a ship was harsh, brutal, and the sequence where the Surprise is stuck in the middle of the ocean due to a lack of wind, is the type of truly depressing historical detail that Hollywood usually leaves out.

The friendship that forms between Crowe’s Jack Aubrey and Paul Bettany’s Stephen Maturin in Master and Commander is the ideal male friendship. They begin a little rough with each other; we question if they even like the other man, but over time, they form the type of bond that’s only forged in fire. And dad jokes.

“The lesser of two weevils” is the type of stupid pun that comes out of nowhere, but you’ll laugh right along with Maturin as Aubrey relaxes a little in the middle of mutiny, storms, and a crafty French opponent. For the Dads upset we never got a sequel to Master and Commander, don’t worry, it’s based on the novels by Patrick O’Brien. Pick those up, and you’ll be able to experience the whole history of Aubrey and Maturin against the backdrop of naval warfare in the 19th Century.

In a just world, Master and Commander would be on the 20th movie in a franchise by now.

Brittany Cartwright Responds To Jax Taylor’s Messy Romance

Mixing business and pleasure seems to be a hard no for Brittany Cartwright.

One of the TV personality’s longtime professional relationships has reportedly bitten the dust after cozy photos of her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, on a getaway trip in Mexico made waves online.

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor have been in the spotlight thanks to their messy relationship. The pair were together for nearly a decade before separating. They tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed their only child, Cruz, about two years later.

While the pair are still legally married, Cartwright has filed for divorce since 2024, and both parties have stepped back into the dating pool. However, it seems the TV personality has drawn a line on Taylor dating people from her inner circle.

Cartwright is reportedly severing ties with her longtime publicist, Lori Krebs, who has been with her for a longer time than her relationship with her estranged husband lasted. Krebs and the mom of one had a professional relationship that lasted more than a decade, which has now come to an end.

The Bravo star fired her longtime publicist after cozy photos of Krebs and Taylor made waves online. The pictures obtained by TMZ showed the pair snuggled up in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, seemingly enjoying each other’s company and going quite heavy on PDA.

Sources told the media outlet that Krebs called Cartwright before the photos were released to give her a head-up about the story. This apparently did not affect the mom of one’s decision to cut ties with the publicist.

Taylor and Krebs spent the weekend at Hotel Mousai, where uploaded pictures show them getting awfully close inside the pool. The pair were photographed with arms wrapped around each other while they enjoyed the water, and at one point they appeared to be having a conversation.

They were seen standing chest to chest while talking to each other in the resort’s infinity pool. There are also uploaded videos showing them having a conversation while sitting on the poolside loungers during the trip.

According to witness reports, the reality TV star and Krebs were cozier than what the photos showed. The witness claimed the pair did not hide that they were together around other guests and spent the day in each other’s arms. Even though the trip was part of a larger group celebration for Taylor’s birthday, which fell on March 11, the duo found their way to enjoying a great deal of quality time.

Fans, friends, and followers have seen something similar play out but on the other side of the table. Cartwright previously made her way to the spotlight for engaging in an affair with her estranged husband’s friend, Julian Sensley, shortly after their separation in 2024.

The Blast shared that “The Valley” star insisted at the time that her fling with Sensley was not a result of a well-thought-out decision, although lingering resentment for Taylor was a contributing factor to her actions. She also tried to justify her actions by stating that there was never a “no dating in the friend group” policy between them.

Cartwright explained that at the time she was too upset with her estranged husband to worry about hurting his feelings when she started linking up with Sensley. The whirlwind romance quietly came to an end within months; the reality TV star learned that Sensley was dishonest about his living situation and relationship with his partner at the time.

Cartwright chose to focus on herself and healing after seeing the end of a two-month relationship with her longtime friend Brandon Hanson. From the outset, fans had worried about her re-entry into the dating pool so soon following her split from Taylor. Another factor that raised eyebrows was that Hanson had a wife and three kids.

“Little side note, I’m single. We actually did not last… We were very good friends before we started dating. It was kind of like a whirlwind relationship,” the reality TV star shared, announcing that they had called it quits.

The Blast reported that she stressed that their romance became public knowledge sooner than they wanted; however, that did not influence their decision to break up.

The TV personality revealed as she explained further that they could not continue the relationship due to long-distance and Hanson having a lot of other responsibilities on his plate. Despite their short-lived romance, which in her words ended “amicably,” they still cared about each other.

Initially, Cartwright had full custody of Cruz, and Taylor filed for joint legal custody, but they recently reached a middle ground. The custody deal states that neither parent will pay the other child support, and they have agreed to split their time with their son.

The former couple also agreed to share custody and responsibility on Cruz’s health decisions, well-being, and education. However, Cartwright would have the upper hand concerning the health decisions if they cannot come to an agreement.

The Blast shared that other restrictions were put in place, especially due to Taylor’s struggles with addiction. Neither parent is to be under the influence of marijuana, other hard drugs, or alcohol while with Cruz. They also are not allowed to introduce their new partners to their son until after a 6-month waiting period.

Amanda Told Kyle Cooke She’s Now ‘Scared’ Of Bravo Fans

Amanda Told Kyle Cooke She's Now 'Scared' Of Bravo Fans

Kyle Cooke didn’t hold back when he addressed his estranged wife, Amanda Batula, during the “In The City” finale. During their conversation, Cooke called Batula out for lying to him about her relationship with their “Summer House” co-star, West Wilson.

For those who may be unfamiliar, things exploded in the Bravosphere in March 2026 when Batula and Wilson confirmed they were in a romantic relationship after weeks of denying it. While their romance isn’t a crime, it surprised fans and their inner circle due to Batula’s former friendship with Wilson’s ex-girlfriend, Ciara Miller.

“It just makes me so f—ing upset,” Cooke said to Batula during the “In The City Finale,” which aired on Tuesday, July 14. “You point-blank lied to me about West.”

Cooke revealed how irritated he was about the situation, adding that Batula wound up leaving him for Wilson, who “rages three times harder” than he does.

Over the years, Batula has been vocal about wanting Cooke to pull back from the nightlife—something Cooke seemed hesitant to do.

Batula clapped back, though, saying, “I didn’t leave you for someone else. I was scared.”

Amanda Batula Says Many Things Factored Into The ‘Demise’ Of Her Relationship With Kyle Cooke

In January 2026, Cooke and Batula announced their separation after several years of marriage.

“We share this with a heavy heart and kindly ask for your grace and support while we focus on our personal growth and healing. It feels ironic to ask for privacy during this time since we’ve always tried to be open and honest about our relationship, but your kindness and respect will go a long way as we try to navigate our next chapter,” they wrote, per the Daily Dish.

During the finale, Batula claimed that “many things factored into the demise of our relationship,” while Cooke admitted he’d made mistakes throughout the years.

As the conversation continued, Batula then joked that the backlash she’s been receiving over her newfound romance with Wilson has at least helped Cooke’s business, Loverboy, adding that the audience now “hates me so much.”

Amanda Batula Told Kyle Cooke She’s Become ‘Scared’ Of Bravo Fans Following Their Breakup

Batula went on to say that the backlash she’s received has been so much that she’s almost felt trapped in her New York City apartment. She then admitted that she’s grown fearful of the Bravo fanbase.

“Walking over here was scary. I am literally terrified to walk outside because I’m afraid someone is going to scream in my face,” she said.

However, Batula said she had to get out in front of the public and face her fears; otherwise, she’d “fall into that dark hole” again.

Wilson And Batula Confirm Their Romance With A Joint Statement

Before the “In The City” finale, Wilson and Batula confirmed their relationship with a joint Instagram post after months of fan speculation.

“We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” their post began. “It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we need a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”

According to the post, Batula and Wilson developed a close friendship over the years, which then spiraled into something romantic neither of them had expected. “Our connection grew out of a genuine, long-standing friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care,” they added.

Batula And Wilson Took A Beating During The ‘Summer House’ Reunion

Batula and Wilson were forced to face the music during the “Summer House” season 10 reunion, when the majority of the cast confronted them about the rumors they had lied about.

While some of them slammed Wilson for treating women as disposable and Batula for being a pick-me, Miller told host Andy Cohen that she believed they could last due to both of their deeply flawed personalities.

“I honestly think that the best, like, woman for West is, like, someone who’s not gonna check him on anything, and that’s totally Amanda,” she said. “She’s very mute. She’s gonna be that weak figure that he needs, and he can always be the star in the relationship. So, I actually think, like, maybe it could work.”

‘Love Island’s’ Trinity Defends Zach After Villain Edit

Published

on

Ariana Madix Hints At 'Love Island USA' Appearance In Cryptic TikTok Post

The cast of “Love Island” season 8 has officially exited the villa, and some of them didn’t receive a warm welcome back to social media. Following the conclusion of the season, the final four contestants, Carl Schmidt and Aniya Harvey, Sincere Rhea and Melanie Moreno, Zach Georgiou and Kayda Bosse, and Bryce Dettloff and Trinity Tatum, have been adjusting to life in the real world. While some have been greeted with messages of support from brands and even millions of followers, others, like Georgiou, have been subjected to hate comments and incessant trolling. The criticism was enough for season 8 winner Tatum to speak on his behalf, urging fans to pull back.

“Coming out the villa one I want to say I’m very blessed and appreciative of the love & support everyone has given me,” Tatum posted to her Instagram earlier this week. “With that being said I wanna say the hate & ignorant comments some of you guys are doing regarding zach is absolutely not okay and needs to stop.”

Tatum went on to call the hate comments directed toward Georgiou “disheartening” and reminded the viewers that the cast are “people just like everyone else.” The 22-year-old told the viewers that, despite what they saw on the Peacock reality series, they all genuinely love one another. She finished by saying that Georgiou is “one of the most amazing people I’ve met, so please have some empathy.”

Others Show Support To Georgiou Following The Conclusion Of ‘Love Island’ Season 8

The remaining contestants reposted Tatum’s message, while Georgiou’s brother, Charlie, who appeared on “Love Island” season 7, also wrote about the backlash on his Instagram.

“TikTok has banned Zach’s account because everyone is reporting it, wtf is wrong with people?” the 29-year-old shared. “The truth about the false narratives portrayed about his time there will be spoken on soon.”

Last week, Charlie also had to defend his brother after he began receiving backlash for asking to be exclusive with his partner, Bosse, without an official title.

“It’s a mature decision to be exclusively dating rather than label yourself boyfriend and girlfriend before you leave into the outside world,” Charlie said. “Being in the villa is a manufactured and completely surreal [environment] to the outside world.”

Fans Weren’t Pleased With Georgiou Throughout ‘Love Island’ Season 8

Georgiou was one of the original islanders on season 8, and from the beginning, he seemed to ruffle some watchers’ feathers. Clips of him seemingly encouraging Tatum’s boyfriend, Bryce Dettloff, to leave her have resurfaced on X, while over on Reddit, other netizens have criticized him for some of his “passive aggressive” actions toward Bosse.

“I don’t like Zach. And idc what this sub or Trinity or anyone else says, that’s not changing lol. That being said, I am moving on with my life lol,” someone wrote, while another added, “Exactly. He was always the first person to speak up and talk sh-t in the villa. Now we’re in the real world; he’s mute, and the girls have to talk for him? He wouldn’t have done the same for Trinity. Let’s be so fr.”

Another user posted, “Like I don’t like him, and I don’t feel bad commenting about it here or on my own socials. Imo that’s kinda what you open yourself up to when you go on international television. That said, anybody commenting on his social media or sending him nasty DMs is WIERD AS H-LL.”

A few others came to his defense, though, as one shared, “No hate any islander received is ever necessary. If you don’t like them just don’t engage with them after the show.”

This isn’t the first time “Love Island” cast members have dealt with criticism, and it likely won’t be the last. According to a previous report from The Blast, the show’s host, Ariana Madix, offered advice for how cast members should set up their social media to combat some negative comments they may receive in the real world.

“I also think the people running their social media pages need to be on top of blocking, deleting, and setting limits on words etc. on their pages,” she said. “They shouldn’t see any of that when they get their phones back.”

Peacock Reminded Watchers To ‘Be Kind’ Before The Season Began

It’s almost as if Peacock was expecting this to happen, given that in May 2026, days before the premiere, the show’s official Instagram posted a statement reminding watchers to “keep it kind … and positive.”

“The Villa runs on good vibes, and so does this community,” a spokesperson wrote, per Deadline. “We love seeing your reactions, opinions, and debates, but everyone deserves to feel safe and respected.”

They finished: “This is a space for fun, not negativity – so keep it kind, keep it positive, and remember: this is LOVE Island.”

Flavor Flav’s SHE Weekend Set To Take Over Las Vegas This Week

Published

Flavor Flav

Flavor Flav is turning the spotlight on women in sports during this week’s SHE Weekend in Las Vegas. The celebration is designed to inspire, uplift, and celebrate female athletes during the four-day event.

The fun begins on Thursday evening with some exciting events for fans to enjoy. Here’s what you need to know if you plan to attend.

SHE Weekend was started by Flavor Flav to honor female athletes from the 2026 Winter Games. The multi-day celebration will recognize competitors and their achievements in a way only Vegas can with a series of events across The Strip.

The fun begins on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Toshiba Plaza in front of T-Mobile Arena. At 8 p.m., the parade begins at Park MGM, turning right on Las Vegas Blvd. near CVS/Park MGM, then right on Bruno Mars Drive, and ends at Toshiba Plaza around 8:30 p.m.

When the parade arrives at Toshiba Plaza, there will be a Key to the Strip and Proclamation presentation, and then a live performance by Public Enemy, Blue deTiger, Grace Bowers, and other special guests. The parade will include floats carrying the athletes and special appearances by Vegas-based sports organizations, community groups, and others.

And did we mention the party at Toshiba Plaza and parade are free and open to the public? For fans who are unable to attend, they can follow along at home on the SHE Center: The Official Show of Flavor Flav’s SHE Weekend.

How Did The Idea For SHE Weekend Get Started?

The idea for the big Vegas celebration happened earlier this year when Flavor Flav took to X to share a message for the USA Women’s Hockey team after they declined an invite to Washington, D.C.

“If the USA Women’s Hockey team wants a real celebration and invite, I’ll host them in Vegas,” he tweeted. “Do some nice dinners and shows and good times. I’m sure I can get a hotel and airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real for real.”

Lenny Kravitz Still Works Out In Leather Pants At 62

The Vogue Haute Couture Fashion Party in Paris

Lenny Kravitz raised eyebrows in 2024 when he shared a viral video of himself working out in leather pants. Now at 62 years old, the singer is revisiting the revelation, confirming that he still sticks to his preferred workout clothing while pumping iron, and he has a practical reason for doing so. Kravitz also talked about being in the best shape of his life, while also admitting there’s still one part of his physique he’d like to improve.

Lenny Kravitz is known for his signature style, blending vintage pieces with his rock-and-roll persona. He’s often seen onstage wearing leather pants, and while they certainly make a statement, they aren’t exactly known for their comfort, especially when worn during workouts. However, that’s exactly what the Grammy award-winning singer does.

Kravitz has a practical reason for doing so, as he said he could simply fit in some gym time when he’s not on the stage performing. Moreover, he uses his pants, leather or jeans, as a fitness gauge. “I perform onstage in leather, denim, whatever, so those are the pants I wear to train,” he told Men’s Health.

The singer wears 28-inch pants, and when some areas feel tighter, he knows it’s time to get in shape. Kravitz shared a saying Denzel Washington told him that he lives by: “The pants don’t lie, the pants don’t lie.”

The Singer’s Workout Video Went Viral In 2024

In 2024, Kravitz shared a video of himself weight-training in a tank top, leather pants, and boots. The clip went viral, with many commenting on his preferred choice of workout clothing.

“My man never breaks character. Full-time rock star,” one user noted, with another adding, “Reasons why I haven’t started working out: 1. I don’t own any leather pants.”

Even fellow celebrities weighed in, with Wiz Khalifa noting he needed better gym outfits, and Arsenio Hall saying that seeing Kravitz’s post made his back hurt.

Kravitz addressed the viral clip in an interview with Variety, in which he said he doesn’t work out in leather pants “for effect.” “A lot of times I’m coming from somewhere or I’m going somewhere. And I just don’t care. I’m gonna pop in, I’ve got 45 minutes we’re gonna hit it and I’m gonna go run to where I’m going,” he said.

However, he only wears leather pants for weight training. When it comes to cardio, Kravitz wears sweats instead, knowing he’ll be perspiring heavily.

Lenny Kravitz Doesn’t Want To Be Bulky

The singer has been with the same trainer, Dodd Romero, for almost three decades. Romero helps keep Kravitz in shape and has also been instrumental in healing his past physical injuries. Now, his trainer designs specific programs to help him maintain his physique.

Kravitz said his goal isn’t to bulk up. “I want a very narrow silhouette, more like Spider-Man meets Bruce Lee, you know what I mean? Bruce Lee looked good in clothes,” he said. While he’s quite happy with his body, he shared that there’s one area he’d like to improve.

“I gotta fill out my legs a little bit,” Kravitz said, noting that Romero is working on that by adding more deadlifts and lunges to his workout routine.

The Singer Does Not Eat Before 3 P.M.

Kravitz’s first meal daily is usually after 3 or 4 p.m., but it isn’t intentional. “It’s not because I’m trying to intermittent fast; it’s just the way I am,” he said, adding that he can’t eat immediately after waking.

He is used to having a low-carb diet and opts for mostly raw and vegan foods. However, he also enjoys eggs. In addition, he consumes protein shakes and supplements. Romero reveals that Kravitz wasn’t always a disciplined eater, sharing that he used to indulge in pizza, fried chicken, and Taco Bell.

Nowadays, Kravitz rarely treats himself to a cheat meal, but when he does, his choices include pasta or bread. In Romero’s opinion, the singer is in the best shape of his life.

Lenny Kravitz Is In The Middle Of A Tour

Kravitz kicked off his “Blue Electric Light Tour” in June 2024 and has continued touring with only brief breaks along the way.

He is currently on the European leg and will be performing in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, France, and the U.K., before heading back to the U.S. in the fall.

According to reports, Kravitz is actively working on a new album, but no title or release date has been announced yet.

Dolly Parton’s Painful Year Revealed In New Details

Dolly Parton on stage

After one of the most difficult years of her life, Dolly Parton is ready to step back into the spotlight, but not before spending months away from public view.

While fans recently celebrated the country icon’s announcement that her life story is heading to Broadway, newly revealed details show where she quietly found comfort after losing her husband, Carl Dean

Hidden behind the gates of a sprawling Tennessee estate, Parton spent the past year grieving, healing and channeling her energy into the project that now marks her long-awaited return.

As Dolly Parton stepped away from the spotlight, much of that time was spent inside Willow Lake Plantation, the secluded Brentwood estate she shared with Dean for decades.

The property became more than just a luxury home following Dean’s death and the health issues that forced Parton to shelve her planned Las Vegas residency earlier this year.

Tucked away on 63 acres just outside Nashville, the custom-built property has served as both a private sanctuary and a creative retreat while Parton worked on her Broadway comeback.

The singer recently surprised fans by announcing that she is returning with “DOLLY: A True Original Musical,” for which she wrote the music and book while also serving as producer.

The production is scheduled to open in December, marking a major milestone after a challenging year away from the spotlight.

The estate itself, known as Willow Lake Plantation, was purchased by the couple in 1999 for $400,000, and is now estimated to be worth around $10 million.

According to aerial photographs obtained by the Daily Mail, the estate reveals a side of Dolly Parton that fans rarely get to see.

Scattered throughout the property are deeply personal touches, including a small church, towering angel statues and several converted outbuildings that have served as music and production studios over the years.

The main home overlooks the grounds from a scenic balcony, while butterfly-shaped benches and colorful outdoor décor add unmistakable flashes of Parton’s personality.

Family also remains at the heart of the compound. Although Parton and Dean never welcomed children of their own during nearly 59 years of marriage, they devoted themselves to their nieces and nephews and later embraced the next generation as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

That connection is reflected in an elaborate gingerbread-inspired playground featuring slides, an in-ground trampoline, a see-saw, oversized guitars and multiple playhouses built for family gatherings that have long remained out of the public eye.

Dolly Parton Continues To Honor Carl Dean In Quiet Ways

Even as the legendary country singer prepares for one of the biggest professional milestones of her career, reminders of Dean remain woven throughout the property they once shared.

Dean died at 82 in March 2025, only weeks before the couple would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

While much has changed since then, the estate continues to preserve small pieces of his presence.

Among the most poignant reminders is the white van Dean once drove, which remains parked near the children’s play area.

Elsewhere, several colorful vehicles, including Parton’s signature pink Jeep and matching golf cart, offer glimpses of the vibrant personality that has always balanced the home’s quieter moments.

While Dolly Parton’s secluded Tennessee estate became a place of healing, those closest to the country icon previously suggested the emotional weight of losing Dean also took a physical toll.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, one insider claimed the loss affected nearly every aspect of Parton’s life. “The life she lives now without him is crippled in comparison,” they stated.

The source added, “To know that she will never be the same absolutely has affected her deeply. Emotionally, personally, physically, it all has taken a toll.”

Another insider alleged that Parton’s grief disrupted routines she had maintained for years, claiming, “She was not eating right, not doing the things she usually would do for her continued health, and she let things slip.”

Dolly Parton Offered Hopeful Health Update After Setback

The insider claims were later echoed by Parton herself when she addressed fans in a rare health update, explaining that complications from kidney stones, along with immune and digestive system issues, had sidelined her performances.

Despite the setbacks, she struck an optimistic tone, telling fans, “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day.”

In the video, she acknowledged there was still a road ahead, adding, “I’ve still got some healing to do,” before explaining that the medication left her feeling “a little bit swimmy-headed,” making it impossible to perform safely in her signature heels.

Even so, Parton emphasized that everything she was dealing with was treatable and assured supporters she was looking forward to getting back on stage as soon as she was fully recovered.

33 Years Later, This Sci-Fi Satire With a Stacked Cast Deserves a Second Look

Published

on

25-Best-Sylvester-Stallone-Movies,-Ranked

Throughout the late 1970s and ‘80s, Sylvester Stallone was an action star who demanded to be taken seriously. In early work from Rocky to Rambo, there was almost this refusal to wink at the audience — a solemnity to whatever battle was unfolding on-screen, whether Stallone’s leading man was fighting for his life in the ring or on the run. But by the 1990s, Stallone’s reign as action star had taken on some levity. Call it a product of the time or simply a product of Stallone learning to have a little more fun with his career, but his third decade as a screen legend involves significantly more humor and self-deprecation than what came before.

Case in point: 1993’s Demolition Man. What could have been a completely earnest and straightforward cop-versus-criminal thriller is instead a gleefully over-the-top blend of sci-fi action and comedy. The result is a film that has aged far better than many of its contemporaries, thanks largely to its willingness to poke fun at both action movie clichés and the culture surrounding them. First-time director Marco Brambilla and screenwriter Daniel Waters (of Heathers fame) leaned into the absurdity — and in doing so, didn’t just create a fun popcorn flick, but ended up predicting the future of our increasingly stupid reality 33 years later.

‘Demolition Man’ Is as Much a Satire of Stallone As It Is of Society

The setup: In 1996, reckless Los Angeles cop John Spartan (Stallone) and homicidal criminal Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) are both sentenced to cryogenic imprisonment after a disastrous hostage rescue goes horribly wrong. Decades later, Phoenix escapes into the futuristic city of “San Angeles,” where society has progressed so much that cops now have very little experience dealing with violent criminals of his ilk. With no one else on the force capable of stopping him, authorities thaw Spartan and ask him to hunt down his old foe.

Stallone plays Spartan completely straight-faced, but that doesn’t mean he’s not having fun with it. Much like his performance in Judge Dredd a few years later, Stallone’s the comedic foil that makes the whole ridiculous thing work. Demolition Man imagines a very stupid future — not unlike, say, Idiocracy — that make no-nonsense Stallone types feel antiquated. Here, you’ve got a stoic action star thrust into a future where profanity is illegal, fast food places are all Taco Bell, and toilet paper has been replaced by three mysterious seashells. Stallone’s self-seriousness in the face of all this is what lands every joke.

And if that’s not clear enough of a joke, there’s also the supporting cast of comedians to consider. Denis Leary steals scenes as underground resistance leader Edgar Friendly, there to deliver the kind of sarcastic, rapid-fire monologues that made him a comedy star for a minute. Rob Schneider’s also on hand, as is Jack Black in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it background role. They join a very game Sandra Bullock as Stallone’s partner, plus the aforementioned Snipes, who’s clearly having the time of his life.

It’s So ’90s It Hurts — But It Still Holds Up More Than Three Decades Later

What separates Demolition Man from the countless other action-thrillers in Stallone’s oeuvre is how confidently it embraces its comedy. Rather than simply imagining flying cars and futuristic weapons, the film builds an entire society around exaggerated ideas of policed speech, strict public health, and corporate homogenization, with both sides taking hits. At the time of its release, it certainly felt like more of a critique of the newly established Clinton administration than the recently concluded Reagan-then-Bush run. Rampant consumerism, extreme public health initiatives, mass surveillance, laws governing people’s sexuality… But when viewed in 2026, the target of its Brave New World-inspired spoof has changed sides.

Critics were (and, often, still are) divided on this one, but one thing they could agree on was that Demolition Man was more self-aware than the average Stallone blockbuster. Audiences showed up for it, too: It grossed $159 million worldwide, which is only further proof of this being one of the actor’s best. Present day, Demolition Man still entertains. The way it blends together explosive action, broad comedy, science-fiction world-building, and a wacky ensemble shouldn’t work, but it still does.
