10 Years Later, Matt Damon’s Underrated Fantasy Epic Is Free to Watch
There’s a running joke that most of Matt Damon‘s filmography has him playing characters who are trying to get home. It’s a joke with some truth to it: from the gritty, war-torn landscape of Saving Private Ryan to being stranded on another planet in The Martian, Damon more often than not plays someone struggling against impossible odds. The Odyssey takes things to a new extreme, thanks to the double-header of being based on an iconic Greek myth and being directed by Christopher Nolan, but there’s another epic starring Damon that’s flown under the radar and is completely free to watch.
That movie is The Great Wall, which debuted in 2016. Directed by legendary filmmaker Zhang Yimou, The Great Wall follows a pair of mercenaries, William Garin (Damon) and Pero Tovar (Pedro Pascal), who learn a startling secret about the Great Wall of China: it was built to keep a race of serpentine monsters called Tao Tei from devouring everything in their path. To combat the Tao Te, Garin and Tovar join forces with a group of elite warriors. The Great Wall is currently available to stream on Tubi, meaning that fans can check out one of the more outlandish movies of Damon’s career.
‘The Great Wall’ Was Hit With Controversy Prior to Its Release
While moviegoers might not remember much of The Great Wall‘s plot, they probably remember that the series was at the center of a brief controversy due to casting Damon in the lead role. Many felt that the movie was dipping into the “white savior” stereotype, but the opposite turned out to be true. Apart from Damon, Pascal, and Willem Dafoe, the majority of the cast is of Chinese descent while the production took place entirely in China. Zhang Yimou would even put a pin on the controversy during an interview, saying that Damon was never meant to be playing a Chinese character.
“In many ways, The Great Wall is the opposite of what is being suggested. For the first time, a film deeply rooted in Chinese culture, with one of the largest Chinese casts ever assembled, is being made at tentpole scale for a world audience. I believe that is a trend that should be embraced by our industry.”
True to his word, Yimou tends to put most of the focus on the “Nameless Order,” the group of warriors that have dedicated their lives to battling the Tao Tei. This lets him deliver some incredible visuals, both in terms of costuming and fight scenes. Lin Mae (Jing Tian), one of the members of the Nameless Order, is a standout thanks to the royal blue armor she’s wearing and the deadly grace with which she moves. Yimou is no stranger to crafting incredible fight scenes, thanks to his work on martial arts classics including Hero and House of Flying Daggers, which means that The Great Wall definitely isn’t lacking in terms of craft.
‘The Great Wall’ Was Part of A Long-Running Hollywood Trend
Another thing that stands out about The Great Wall was that it was released at a time when Hollywood saw China as one of its biggest markets. Legendary Pictures, the production company behind The Great Wall, was even bought out by the Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group in 2016. This meant that movies like The Great Wall and Skyscraper could be filmed entirely in China, while also having their narratives take place in the country, and often relied on the Chinese box office to turn a profit. Ironically, The Great Wall wasn’t a success in the U.S. or China, with Matt Damon later revealing that his daughter mocked him for starring in it.
The Great Wall might not be on the same level as The Odyssey or The Martian, but it’s far from Matt Damon’s worst movie. If you’re looking for a Saturday night movie or a visually stunning experience, it’s worth a watch.

Elon Musk, the world’s first trillionaire, is apparently not one to take any vocal criticism particularly lightly.
“Maybe some people do loathe me — and that’s probably true — I don’t care,” Musk, 55, told editor-in-chief of The Economist Zanny Minton Beddoes in a wide-ranging, 90-minute video interview released on Thursday, July 23, after the X owner was asked if he understands that “some people do loathe” Musk and believe his politics and use of social media is not “helpful for Western democracy.”
“But the fact that, as you pointed out, a quarter billion people follow me is that I think a lot more people actually like me than don’t,” he continued. “And I think a lot more people hate you and the media more than you realize.”
He added, “Do you realize the media is despised? Do you realize that journalists, the view of journalists, is like, it’s like a favorable view of journalists is like 15 percent. So the show is on the other foot. They hate you. They hate you far more than they hate me.”

Beddoes did acknowledge that overall trust in the news and journalism is at an all-time low — according to one October 2025 Gallup poll, only 28 percent of Americans report having a “great deal” or “fair amount” of trust in newspapers, television and radio to report the news accurately and fairly.
“I think there is certainly [a] loss of trust in journalism. I think, in part, there have been mistakes by journalists and journalism, I totally acknowledge that,” she explained. “But I think the kind of polarized environment, particularly on social media fostered by the kinds of things you’re pushing on X, actually helps this – makes it worse.”
Musk vehemently disagreed with Beddoes’ assertion, doubling down on his assessment of journalism as a whole.
“I don’t think so,” he responded. “I think you’re the problem, the media, and, um, speaking of loathing, you are loathed far more than I am and you don’t seem to even realize that.”
“I think very few people know who I am relative to you,” Beddoes said. “So I don’t think I play in the same game.”

According to a Pew Research Center survey conducted between January 27 and February 2 of 2025, 54 percent of Americans say they have an “unfavorable” view of Musk, including a reported 36% who report having a “very unfavorable” opinion of the trillionaire.
Musk has been the center of much controversy during his time in the public eye, including his public issues with the mothers of his children (Musk shares 14 children with four different women), his anti-trans remarks often directed towards his own trans daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, and his personal relationship and political dealing with President Donald Trump, including his short-lived role in the now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), whose significant cut U.S. foreign aid resulted in the estimated deaths of over 700,000 people.
Netflix introduced a new generation of fans to Little House on the Prairie with the recent release of the streaming service’s highly anticipated reboot — but there are some core differences between the show and the beloved original series.
“With this version, our showrunner and creator, Rebecca Sonnenshine, she’s really gone back to Laura Ingalls Wilder‘s books as the source material,” Luke Bracey, who stars as patriarch “Pa” Charles Ingalls in the new version, began on the Friday, July 24, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark. “All the stories come from there and she says that she wanted to have the show make you feel what you felt when you read the books as a kid.”
Both versions of Little House were adapted from Ingalls Wilder’s iconic, semi-autobiographical books of the same name, chronicling a pioneer family’s move from Wisconsin to Kansas.
“Hopefully, we fit as much [from the books] as we can into the scripts,” Bracey, 37, said on Friday. “That’s probably the main delineation from the original show, but the fact that it’s a family trying to be good people is still the core of it.”
Bracey plays Charles opposite Crosby Fitzgerald’s Caroline Ingalls, who are the parents of Mary (Skywalker Hughes) and Laura (Alice Halsey).
The original series, meanwhile, aired from 1974 to 1983, starring Michael Landon and Karen Grassle as the Ingalls parents. Their kids were played by then-child stars Melissa Gilbert, Melissa Sue Anderson and twins Lindsay and Sydney Greenbush.
For Australia native Bracey, he admittedly had “no concept” of Little House before landing the role.

“I got an email about the audition and I saw the title and, maybe I’d heard the title before, but I had no concept of the story or the show or the books or anything like that,” the actor told hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on their daytime TV show. “I read the script and it’s a really great script. It’s kind of hard to deny [that]. I thought, ‘Wow, it’s so rare these days to have a show of such high quality that’s nice.’ It’s about nice people trying their hardest in life and facing obstacles and getting up and overcoming them and trying to be good people while doing it.”
Bracey added, “I just thought that was such a special thing and quite rare these days in shows. A lot of shows are really dark and I love the idea of portraying a good man or a man trying to be a good man. [He’s] not perfect, far from perfect, but [Charles is] really wanting to be a good father and a good husband and a good member of his community.”
Little House on the Prairie is currently streaming on Netflix.
Influencer Sara Gilson was allegedly killed by her estranged husband, Shawn Duffey, mere weeks after she allegedly accused him of being a pedophile.
Tulsa’s ABC affiliate reported on July 23, 2026, that Gilson and Duffey were found dead in their Oklahoma City home after a fatal shooting. A juvenile family member present at the scene allegedly told investigators that the the separated couple died by murder-suicide.
Two weeks earlier, Gilson stunned her 43,000 TikTok followers by accusing Duffey of pedophilia and insisting they were “soon to be” divorced. (Duffey never publicly addressed the accusations before his death.)
An investigation into the alleged murder-suicide is ongoing, as of publication. Gilson is survived by two children from a previous relationship.

The alarming content about Duffey was abnormal for Gilson’s TikTok account. The hairstylist gained more than 40,000 followers for her commentary on fashion trends and parenting her two children.
Her TikTok bio stressed to followers that her fashion videos only featured “Amazon finds [that] I actually use.”
Sara Gilson Publicly Accused Husband Shawn Duffey of Pedophilia Before Their Deaths
On July 11, Gilson stunned her TikTok followers with a video about her “soon to be” ex-husband Duffey. The clip showed her taking a seat in front of a neutral background, as if she was filming an interview for a documentary or reality show.
“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon-to-be ex-husband, who I just found out is a pedophile,” she wrote over the clip.
She added, “I wish I was joking.”

The video followed a popular viral trend but its shocking content quickly went viral. As of publication, the clip has received more than 830,000 “likes” and generated more than 25,000 comments.
Duffey never responded to his estranged wife’s allegations before their deaths.
Sara Gilson Filed For a Restraining Order Against Shawn Duffey
The Oklahoman reported that Gilson filed for an emergency order of protection against Duffey in June 2026. As a result, Duffey was ordered to leave the family home and stay at least 100 yards away from Gilson through at least August 24.
Per the oulet, Gilson previously filed a restraining order against Duffey in 2021 though it was ultimately dismissed because she did not attend a hearing.
Another woman filed a separate order of protection against Duffey in June 2026, on behalf of her daughter, a 15-year-old girl who allegedly played on a youth basketball team that Duffey coached, according to People.
Sara Gilson Thanked Fans for Their Support Weeks Before Her Death
Prior to her viral TikTok video, Gilson publicly thanked her followers for standing by her through her split with Duffey.
“Thank you for the army. Your thoughts, prayers and gift cards have meant more than you know,” she wrote via TikTok on June 20, 2026. “While I’m grieving and trying to process the worst thing imaginable, I’m solely focused on my children and their well-being. Their safety and mental health is my only concern at this time.”
She concluded, “We are not OK and I’m not sure I’ll ever be the same, but God has been so faithful in this process and I feel his presence in everything I do.”

Gilson shared a final TikTok on July 21, 2023, where she wrote a now-eerie message over a photo of her relaxing on a boat.
“May whatever the f*** that was never find me again,” she wrote. “Please God. 🫶🏼😔 #traumatok.”
911 Dispatchers Revealed Shocking Information About the Day of Alleged Shooting
Per People, emergency dispatchers reported hearing Gilson “screaming and crying” before she was found dead by police. A minor family member had called 911 to report a home break-in.
“I’m trying to reach [the caller] back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background,” a dispatcher desperately relayed in recordings.
Moments later, a dispatcher said the situation involved a “male that we were looking for a few weeks ago after he got caught kissing a juvenile” and made a reference to “a gun.”
Sara Gilson and Shawn Duffey Were Found Dead at Their Home
Police arrived at Gilson’s home in Owasso, near Oklahoma City, at around 11:18 p.m. local time on July 23, 2026.
The separated couple were found dead at the scene. A family member later told police that they suspected a murder-suicide.
The Owasso Police Department has not yet confirmed that the deaths were as a result of a murder-suicide plot but an active investigation is underway, as of publication.
A GoFundMe Was Set Up for Sara Gilson’s Children
A fundraiser for Gilson’s two children has raised more than $23,000, as of publication.
“Last night, our beautiful friend, Sara, was tragically taken from us in an unimaginable act of violence. Her sudden and heartbreaking loss has left an entire community grieving, but the greatest loss is felt by her two precious children, who must now face life without their loving mother,” a message on the GoFundMe read. “Sara was an incredible mom. Her children were the center of her world, and everything she did was for them. She loved them fiercely, worked hard to provide for them, and dreamed of giving them the best life possible.”
The statement went on, “We are creating this GoFundMe to help support Sara’s children as they navigate the difficult days, months, and years ahead. Donations will help provide for their immediate needs, counseling, education, funeral expenses, and other costs that arise as they begin this unimaginable journey without their mother.”

After a solid opening week on Netflix, the streamer’s latest franchise feature seems to be plummeting on the viewership charts. Netflix remains the only streaming platform that is transparent about viewership, which it measures using its own metrics. While this data makes for interesting analysis, it can also make a film or show’s performance abundantly clear to the public. And Enola Holmes 3, the third installment in the streaming platform’s young-adult franchise, is certainly not doing as well as anybody involved in it would have liked. The movie brings back Millie Bobby Brown — arguably the biggest homegrown star on Netflix — as the titular heroine. She is joined in the movie by Henry Cavill, who returns as Enola’s illustrious older brother, Sherlock Holmes.
The first and second films, Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2, were both directed by Harry Bradbeer. They were released in 2020 and 2022, receiving warm reviews from critics and audiences. Along with the Extraction movies headlined by Chris Hemsworth, the Enola Holmes series seemed to be the best franchise play devised by Netflix. The third movie was written by returning scribe Jack Thorne, but it was directed by Philip Barantini, who broke out last year with the widely acclaimed limited series Adolescence. However, the creative change-up didn’t translate into better reviews.
Here’s Where ‘Enola Holmes 3’ Stands in Terms of Viewership
Enola Holmes 3 holds a 66% score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, where the consensus reads, “Despite a muddled story and diminished spark, Enola Holmes 3 succeeds thanks to Millie Bobby Brown’s winning performance and some lively action.” By comparison, the first and second films in the series are both “Certified Fresh” with 91% and 93% scores on the aggregator website. Enola Holmes 3 amassed 20 million views in its first week, per Netflix. But while most major movies witness an uptick in viewership in their sophomore frames, Enola Holmes 3 dropped to 12 million views. In its third week, this figure fell to 4.8 million views, which puts the movie’s total viewership at around 37 million views in three weeks. Netflix counts views for the first 90 days of a film or show’s release, which has resulted in four movies this year — War Machine, The Rip, Apex, and Thrash — crossing the 100 million views milestone. Just one day before Patrick arrived at the Saint Joseph, Missouri, facility for training camp, he gave reporters an update on his recovery progress.
“That’s the goal to be able to practice when we get to training camp, and we hit that next step,” he said in a Friday, July 24, press conference. “Now, it’s gonna be about building and keep getting better and better, so that whenever the regular season comes around, I can try to be available and ready to play.”
Patrick further revealed that he was medically cleared by his physician “two days ago” to participate in practices.
“He saw the numbers I was putting up and that gave him the comfortability [to be] fully cleared to practice,” Patrick noted, sharing his doctor’s advice. “It’s still good to be out there and have bodies around and be able to run the offense. This is just another checkpoint on the schedule.”
He continued at the time, “You have to continue to work. It’s not, like, it’s over and I’m gonna be able to play a game tomorrow. You have to continue to work and get better and better and go through all practice, prove to the coaches [and] prove to the doctors and everybody that I’m the same quarterback I was, if not better.”
Patrick is a three-time Super Bowl champion and remains hopeful that he will be strong enough to start in the 2026-2027 season games.
“I’m a competitor, so game day, I wanna be out there,” Patrick stated. “I understand the process of getting myself ready to play, and the regular season is more important [than preseason games]. We will, the doctors and coaches will make that decision for me, but I will prepare myself like I’m gonna play.”
Kacey Musgraves has quietly canceled three upcoming concerts, including the show that was supposed to launch her “Middle of Nowhere Tour.” With the North American leg scheduled to begin in late August, fans in Chicago, Boston, and Brooklyn received notifications that their concerts had been called off. The country singer has not publicly explained the cancellations, leaving disappointed ticket holders to speculate about what happened.
The unexpected changes come just days after Musgraves released a steamy music video for her song “Mexico Honey” and several months after she faced criticism over the sizing offered through her Walmart clothing collaboration.

The Singer Still Has An Extensive Tour Schedule
Musgraves was initially preparing to visit 25 cities across 29 North American dates. The tour was scheduled to begin in Chicago on August 20 before concluding with two nights in Seattle at the end of October.
Her touring plans also extend beyond North America. The “Slow Burn” singer is expected to travel to Australia in January 2027 before continuing to the United Kingdom the following month. Her U.K. itinerary includes one concert in Scotland and two performances in England.
Musgraves initially announced the “Middle of Nowhere Tour” in late April. Just over one week later, she revealed that additional performances had been added, making the sudden removal of three dates particularly unexpected.
The majority of the announced itinerary appears to be moving forward, but fans will likely be watching closely for any further updates.
Kacey Musgraves Recently Faced Walmart Collection Backlash
The tour uncertainty arrives several months after Musgraves faced online criticism over the size range offered through her Kacey Lee clothing collection at Walmart. The collaboration with denim brand Lee featured more than 100 products spanning women’s and men’s fashion, swimwear, and accessories for pets.
Although the collection attracted attention for its affordable prices and Western-inspired designs, shoppers quickly noticed that many items did not offer inclusive sizing. Most tops reportedly stopped at XXL, while bottoms were generally available only through size 18.
The limited range frustrated shoppers who had hoped an extensive collection sold through a major retailer would provide more options for plus-size customers.
Shoppers Criticized The Lack Of Inclusive Sizing
Social media creator and self-described “fat activist” Megan Ixim publicly criticized the collaboration. Ixim said she was disappointed to discover that plus-size customers could not purchase most extended sizes inside Walmart stores. Only select pieces appeared to be offered in larger sizes online.
According to listings on Walmart’s website, sizing beyond XXL was primarily limited to parts of the swimwear line. Certain bikini tops, bottoms, and one-piece swimsuits were available for delivery in 2X and 3X, but those expanded options did not appear to extend across most of the collection.
The sizing controversy and the unexplained concert cancellations are separate developments, with no indication that one influenced the other. Still, both have placed Musgraves under heightened scrutiny as she prepares to take her “Middle of Nowhere Tour” on the road.
Until the singer addresses the canceled dates, fans in Chicago, Boston, and Brooklyn are left without an explanation, and other ticket holders may be waiting to see whether the remainder of the tour continues as planned.

“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Angie Katsanevas is getting real about the challenges she’s faced in her friendship with co-star Mary Cosby. In a new interview, the hairstylist-turned-breakout reality TV star said the upcoming season of “SLC” will focus a lot on “deep friendship” and showcase how the group of women makes it through the storm.
While speaking with Us Weekly, Katsanevas, 52, got candid about her friendship with Cosby. For those who may be unfamiliar, the pair became an unlikely duo during “RHOSLC” season 5. Their connection was shocking not only to the group, but to the audience, considering Cosby and Katsanevas clashed during season 4.
Over the years, the pair have hit bumps in the road, but somehow, they always seem to find their way back to each other. When the upcoming season airs, though, it seems fans may be in for a surprise, as Katsanevas said they go through another challenging period.
“I think that it’s just very real and raw challenges that friends deal with,” she said. “She’s going through a lot, and I’m going through a lot.”
Angie Katsanevas Says The ‘Honeymoon Phase’ With Cosby Is Officially Over
Now that Katsanevas and Cosby have been close friends for over two years, it appears they’re reaching the point in their relationship where things aren’t always peaches and cream. “There’s a lot of ups and downs. I think that’s every year. It’s not all fun,” Katsanevas said about their last year together.
“The honeymoon phase is over as your bond deepens,” she continued, adding that as friends grow, they become more honest and vulnerable with one another. “You’re more honest with each other, and you say what you’re really feeling and thinking. We love each other. We love each other deeply.”
It’s unclear exactly what may have gone down between Katsanevas and Cosby, but according to an earlier report from The Blast, an insider claimed the pair got into an explosive fight while cameras were rolling.
The source said that Katsanevas got into quite the argument with Bronwyn Newport and allegedly tried to pull Cosby into it, prompting the latter to allegedly reply, “‘Keep my name out of your mouth, worry about your own friends and your own family.’”
After that, Katsanevas reportedly said something so “shocking” to Cosby in front of the rest of the group that fans “won’t believe.”

There’s no premiere date set yet for the upcoming season of “RHOSLC,” but Katsanevas teased that there will be a heavy focus on “deep friendships.”
As she continued, the mother of one said she’s reflected on why their show is so popular amongst the Bravosphere, and according to her, it’s because of the cast’s real connections with each other.
“Everyone is so funny in their own way, but the relationships are real. The friendships, there’s a lot of love and mutual respect with all the women, and the dynamics in this group are so interesting,” she said. “It’s like an NBA team where every player is required, and the relationships are getting deeper, the bond is getting deeper, and I think you feel that.”
What Else Can Fans Expect From The Upcoming Season Of ‘RHOSLC’?
The upcoming batch of episodes will feature a lot of tears, according to Katsanevas. But with that, she said there will also be “more joy” and “more fun.”
“I just think that you’re going to see a lot more of everyone’s authentic self. I just really feel like everyone has hit their stride, and we’re seeing everyone in their truest form,” she continued.
Tragedy Hit Close To Home This Season
According to a previous report from The Blast, the first part of the season will focus on Cosby and the death of her 23-year-old son, Robert Cosby Jr.
He died just before production began at the beginning of the year, and as Lisa Barlow put it, it was a “bonding moment” for everyone involved.
As for Katsanevas, sources recently revealed that she split from her husband, Shawn Trujillo, after 27 years together.
Pamela Anderson is addressing the likelihood of one day donning her iconic red swimsuit for Fox’s Baywatch reboot.
“No one’s reached out to me. I don’t know much about it,” Anderson, 59, revealed to Deadline in an interview published on Friday, July 24. “I know that they were talking to my sons [Brandon Lee and Dylan Lee] at some point about producing, but I don’t think they had a meeting of the minds. I’m not sure what happened there, but I wish them well.”
She went on, “It was a great job, and I loved going to work every day on the beach. I would have been there anyway. At the time, it taught me a lot, and it gave me worldwide exposure. Everything I’ve done has led me to here, which is a blessing. But I have no plans of going back to Baywatch.”
Anderson skyrocketed to fame while starring on the classic ‘90s action TV series as lifeguard C. J. Parker. She last reprised the role for a cameo in Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron’s 2017 movie reboot.

Fox’s latest incarnation of Baywatch is led by newcomers Brooks Nader, Shay Mitchell and Noah Beck, though Anderson’s ‘90s costars David Chokachi, Michael Bergin and Erika Eleniak will also reprise their roles from the classic show.
Asked whether she was curious about what her character C.K. was up to now, Anderson replied, “If my kids were involved, I probably would have listened to them. I think I’ve just got to keep on seeing what else is out there.”
“I get that there’s a lot of really great TV out there right now, but I’ve already done that. Now is my time to really play with different characters,” she added. “I don’t want to just fill my time until the end of the year. I have options, and some things I’m thinking about, including some theater again. I want to make really bold choices. I want to surprise people. I want to surprise myself. And so I’m trying to do things I haven’t done in the past.”

Anderson is in the middle of a career renaissance, having received award season buzz for her 2024 comeback movie The Last Showgirl. Last year, her reboot of cult classic comedy franchise The Naked Gun with Liam Neeson made more than $100 million at the box office.
The actress is now promoting the comedic thriller Rosebush Pruning, in which she plays the matriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family. Her upcoming drama Place to Be — starring opposite Ellen Burstyn and Taika Waititi — will premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in September.
Meanwhile, Fox’s reimagining of Baywatch has faced some backlash for casting models and influencers alongside established actors. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covergirl Nader, 29, strongly defended the new Baywatch cast shortly after the project was announced.
“I think that the times are different and everyone is so multi-hyphenate now, and you can be both an actor and an influencer and have influence,” she told the Daily Mail earlier this year. “And that’s the beauty of the culture that social media has created.”
Baywatch was given a straight-to-series order and is expected to premiere on Fox during the 2026-2027 TV season.
