A prequel to Game of Thrones set roughly 200 years in the franchise’s past, House of the Dragon was created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal and is an adaptation of Martin’s 2018 book Fire & Blood. The series explores the multigenerational story of House Targaryen, primarily revolving around the devastating civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. Like its parent show, the series features a sprawling ensemble cast, with Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Sonoya Mizuno, Olivia Cooke, and more starring in notable roles.

House of the Dragon takes audiences into the rich past of Westeros, brought to life with impeccable production values, which make it an even more immersive experience than its parent show. The series has garnered numerous accolades as well, including a Golden Globe, three British Academy Television Craft Awards, and nine Emmy nominations. The show’s penultimate third season is set to premiere in June 2026, exploring some of the bloodiest events of its source material. It’s also been renewed for a fourth and final season, currently expected to arrive in 2028.

The flagship show of AMC’s Immortal Universe, Interview with the Vampire is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series developed by Rolin Jones. The show’s first two seasons explore the first novel of the series, following the long life of Louis de Pointe du Lac, and starting with Season 3, the show will be adapting the second novel, The Vampire Lestat, which focuses on Louis’s maker and lover, Lestat de Lioncourt. Jacob Anderson stars as Louis and Sam Reid as Lestat, with Eric Bogosian, Bailey Bass, Assad Zaman, Delainey Hayles, and Ben Daniels in key supporting roles.

A gorgeous Gothic romance drama, Interview with the Vampire is easily the biggest vampire romance hit of the decade, earning praise from critics and viewers alike for its full-blooded and unfiltered reimagining of the source material. The series was widely praised for its performances, production values, costumes, and soundtrack during its first two-season arc, and it’s set to reinvent itself with a new title, style, and period setting in its third season, transforming into The Vampire Lestat. The show is a must-watch for fantasy TV fans, and with more books to adapt in the series, there’s plenty of material for more seasons.

Inspired by the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and developed by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power chronicles the thousands of years of history leading up to the events of The Lord of the Rings. The show explores the major events of Middle-earth’s Second Age, following a sprawling cast of characters as they navigate the rise of Sauron, the fall of Númenor, the forging of the Rings of Power, and the last alliance of Elves and Men. The ensemble cast includes Morfydd Clark, Sara Zwangobani, Markella Kavenagh, Megan Richards, Robert Aramayo, Benjamin Walker, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Nazanin Boniadi, and more in key roles.

An expansion of one of the most celebrated fantasy franchises of all time, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power holds the unique distinction of being the most expensive television series ever made. While its departures from Tolkien’s canon have made it somewhat divisive among hardcore Middle-earth fans, the show has been generally well-received by critics and audiences. A third season is set to premiere in 2026, and the series is expected to run for at least two more seasons.

Gollum

You carry something heavy — and you carry it alone, even when you don’t have to. You were not born for greatness, and that is precisely why greatness chose you. Your courage is not the roaring, sword-swinging kind; it is quiet, stubborn, and terrifying in its refusal to quit. The Ring weighs on you more than anyone can see, and still you walk toward the fire. That is not weakness. That is the rarest kind of strength there is.

You are, without question, the best of them. Not the most powerful, not the most celebrated — but the most essential. Your loyalty is not a trait; it is a force of nature. You would carry the person you love up the slopes of Mount Doom if it came to that, and we both know you’d do it without being asked. The world needs more people like you, and the world is lucky it has even one.

You were born to lead, and you have spent years running from it. The crown is yours by right, but you know better than anyone that right means nothing without the will and the worthiness to back it up. You are tempered by loss, shaped by long roads, and defined by a code of honour you hold to even when no one is watching. When you finally step forward, the world shifts. Because it was always waiting for you.

You have seen more than you let on, and you say less than you know — which is exactly as it should be. You are a catalyst: you do not fight the battles yourself, you ignite the people who can. Your wisdom comes not from books but from an age of watching what happens when it is ignored. You arrive precisely when you mean to, and your presence alone changes what is possible. A wizard is never late.

Graceful, perceptive, and almost preternaturally calm under pressure — you see things others miss and act before others react. You do not need to make a scene to be remarkable; your presence speaks for itself. You are loyal to those you choose to stand beside, and that choice is not made lightly. You have lived long enough to know that the most beautiful things in this world are also the most fragile, and that is why you fight to protect them.

You are loud, proud, and absolutely formidable — and beneath all of that is one of the most fiercely loyal hearts in Middle-earth. You don’t do anything by half measures. Your friendships are forged like iron, your grudges run as deep as mines, and your courage in battle is the kind that makes legends. You came into this fellowship suspicious of everyone and ended it willing to die for an elf. That is not a small thing. That is everything.

You think in centuries and act in absolutes. Order, dominion, control — not because you are cruel by nature, but because you have decided that the world left to itself always falls apart, and you are the only one with the vision and the will to hold it together. You were not always this. Something was lost, or taken, or betrayed, and the version of you that stands now is the answer to that wound. The tragedy is that you’re not entirely wrong — just entirely too far gone to course-correct.

You are a study in contradiction — pitiable and dangerous, cunning and broken, capable of both cruelty and something that once resembled love. You are defined by loss: of innocence, of self, of the one thing that gave your existence meaning. Two voices war inside you constantly, and the tragedy is that the better one sometimes wins, just not often enough, and never at the right moment. You are a warning, yes — but also a mirror. We are all a little Gollum, given the right ring and enough time.

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ (2024–Present)

Developed by Albert Kim, Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender is a live-action adaptation of the animated series, set in a world where humans are divided into four nations based on the classical elements: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Only one person, the Avatar, has the potential to master all elements, and the show follows the latest Avatar, a 12-year-old called Aang (Gordon Cormier), as he sets out on a quest to end the Fire Nation’s plans for world domination. Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Ken Leung, Daniel Dae Kim, and Miya Cech star in other lead roles.

A nostalgic and gorgeously crafted fantasy show, the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender had somewhat mixed reviews for its first season, earning praise for the visual effects, action, music, and cultural representation but also facing criticism for its writing, particularly in comparison to the animated show. The audience reception, however, has been much better, and the series is a far better adaptation of the original show than the 2010 film version. A second season is set to debut in 2026, and a third and final season has already wrapped production as well, currently expected to arrive sometime in 2027.

‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ (2023–Present)

Created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a fantasy adventure series adapted from Riordan’s eponymous novel series. The show revolves around Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell), the young demigod son of the Olympian deity Poseidon, as he embarks on various adventures alongside his best friends, Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Grover Underwood (Aryan Simhadri). Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzoukas, and more appear in supporting roles.

A highly acclaimed adaptation that’s exceptionally faithful to its source material, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a charming and fascinating series that’s nostalgic for older fans and wonderfully engaging for newer ones. Each season of the show adapts one book from the series, allowing the series to fully capture the characterizations, dynamics, and worldbuilding of the novels. Two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians have been released so far, with a third currently in the works, and if everything goes well, the show should have a total of five seasons minimum before it ends.

Created by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the latest prequel spin-off of Game of Thrones, adapted from Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg series of novellas. Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, a hedge knight who meets a young boy called “Egg” (Dexter Sol Ansell) and agrees to let him be his squire, not knowing that the child is actually Aegon Targaryen, prince and future king of Westeros. Daniel Ings, Shaun Thomas, Tanzyn Crawford, Danny Webb, Henry Ashton, Daniel Monks, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and more appear in recurring roles.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was very warmly received when it premiered its first six-episode season in January 2026, earning praise for its sweet and humorous narrative, a welcome change for the drama-heavy franchise. The show had high viewership and great reviews, and it was already renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, which is expected to be released in 2027.

‘One Piece’ (2023–Present)

Developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, One Piece is a live-action adaptation of the manga series by Eiichiro Oda. Set in a fantastical world with strange powers and endless oceans, the series follows the young pirate Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they seek the titular treasure. Besides Godoy, the show also features Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar, Mikaela Hoover, and more in notable roles.

Unlike most of Netflix’s live-action manga/anime adaptations, One Piece was very well-received at the time of its premiere by both critics and fans, earning universal praise for its acting, action sequences, visual effects, and story. A faithful adaptation of the legendary manga, the series fully realizes its world and characters and is easily one of the most popular fantasy shows on the streaming service. With two seasons already released, the series is currently expected to premiere its third season in 2027, and considering the One Piece manga has been continuously running for over 1,100 chapters since it first began in 1997, the show has no shortage of stories to explore.

Besides Ortega, the series also stars Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Moosa Mostafa, and more in supporting roles.

Powered by Jenna Ortega’s pitch-perfect performance in the lead role, Wednesday has become one of the most popular fantasy shows of the 2020s, with two seasons to its name and a third on the way. While the long gaps between seasons have been frustrating for fans, the show is definitely worth the wait, with great performances, cinematography, music, and special effects that make every season a thoroughly engaging watch. Since its premiere in 2022, the series has developed a huge global fan base and has been awarded many accolades, including two Critics’ Choice Awards, three Golden Globe nominations, and four Emmy wins.

Alexia Ioannou Reveals Her Tips for Keeping 'nou' and Vintage Shoes Looking Chic for Years to Come

If the shoe fits, why stop at one pair? Alexia Ioannou certainly doesn’t.

The founder of nou built her fashion eye hunting down rare vintage treasures from labels like Valentino, Emilio Pucci, Fendi, Dolce&Gabbana, Dior, Manolo Blahnik, and Chanel before turning that passion into her own footwear line filled with playful prints, bold colors, and vintage-inspired silhouettes.

Alexia Ioannou/Instagram

“Moving from curation to design was a natural evolution because I noticed a void in the modern market,” Ioannou tells ET.

“The industry had stopped taking risks with the bold colors and playful patterns that once defined great design. I wanted to create pieces that captured that vintage aesthetic but were built for modern living.”

From animal-print heels to bridal-ready mules, nou shoes are designed to feel special enough to spark conversation, while still being practical enough to wear on repeat.

Alexia Ioannou/Instagram

“My design process is instinctive, but highly tactical,” she explains.

“I pull from every era, mixing a ’70s fit with ’90s hardware or an unexpected color reference until it feels completely nou.”

And according to Ioannou and celeb fans including Addison Rae, a standout shoe can make even the most low-key outfit feel instantly cooler.

Alexia Ioannou/Instagram

“Wear them with a great pair of vintage jeans, our signature white tank, or a $10 thrifted dress,” she shares.

“I love hearing from customers who get stopped in their tracks by strangers asking about their shoes.”

As for preserving vintage finds and new favorites alike, Ioannou wants shoes to be treated more like décor rather than something tucked away in storage.

Alexia Ioannou/Instagram

“I don’t believe in hiding shoes in boxes,” she notes. “They should be displayed in your closet like art. Shoes are meant to be worn, seen, and lived in. A pair that’s a little rough around the edges is just a sign of a shoe well-loved.”

And when her collection needs a little TLC, she keeps it simple: “A quick trip to the cobbler for a resole is all it takes to keep them looking good for the long haul.”

Stephen Colbert Reveals Final Demand He Made After Being Fired

Published

on

An Evening With Stephen Colbert And Tony Gilroy: Andor Season 2

Stephen Colbert revealed that the end of “The Late Show” came without warning and left him surprised.

In a new interview, the comedian shared how the decision, tied to profitability, caught him off guard, especially so soon after signing a new contract.

Despite his upcoming exit from the show, Stephen Colbert has remained candid on-air, consistently criticizing President Donald Trump, who some believe to have played a role in Colbert’s firing.

In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Colbert revealed that news of his show ending didn’t come through some formal network sit-down. Instead, it came from his manager, face-to-face, which immediately set off alarm bells.

Colbert said he knew something was off the moment he heard James “Babydoll” Dixon was there to see him. He recalled being caught off guard, as he hadn’t expected such news, especially after signing a strong new deal.

“It hasn’t been two years since I signed my last contract, and they were feverish to lock me down. It was the best negotiation we’ve ever had,” Colbert said.

According to the comedian, the explanation was simple: the show wasn’t turning a profit. While he didn’t argue the business side of it, the timing still didn’t quite add up in his mind.

He admitted that the reason behind the decision “came as a surprise,” noting that “there’s no denying that the broadcast model is in huge trouble.”

“But our model [late night] within that overall model has been very profitable for, like, 70 years, starting with Steve Allen,” Colbert continued. “But maybe we were the first show to then be a detriment. Maybe we were the first one to flip in the other direction. I do not wish to litigate it. It’s their shop, and they can do what they want.”

The cancellation also came during a period of major corporate shifts at Paramount Global, including a high-stakes merger and a controversial legal settlement involving President Donald Trump over a “60 Minutes” interview.

For critics and observers, the overlap raised questions, even if no direct link was ever confirmed.

In the months that followed, Colbert didn’t exactly stay quiet. He’s taken swings at the network, poked at its new leadership, and leaned into reports that the show was hemorrhaging $40 million a year.

That openness wasn’t accidental, as the comedian claims it was part of an understanding he reached with executives after the news broke. And on top of that, his nightly digs at Trump haven’t slowed down either.

There was a conversation later with his Paramount boss, George Cheeks, who reached out to acknowledge that the rollout of the decision could have been handled better.

“I’m not over here grinding a knife, but we are going to make jokes about how this went down and about the $40 million and about CBS’ apparent check-cutting spree to the president,” Colbert recalled about his chat with Cheeks. “That’s the show I want to do for 10 more months because I like working for CBS, and I’m not going to change that relationship between now and the end if you allow that to happen.”

Stephen Colbert’s Dream Guest Never Made It Before ‘The Late Show’ Ends

Stephen Colbert at An Evening With Stephen Colbert And Tony Gilroy: Andor Season 2
ZUMAPRESS.com / MEGA

Still, there’s one thing Colbert didn’t get to check off his list. As the May 21 finale approaches, the comedian admitted his ultimate dream guest never made it to the stage: Pope Leo XIV.

He revealed in his interview that he wrote a letter, pitching a conversation about faith rather than politics, inviting the pontiff to discuss what it means to be an American Catholic.

Colbert said he tried to keep it thoughtful but still very much in his voice, jokingly opening with a line about hoping the message found the pontiff “well or, at the very least, infallible.”

The invitation, however, never got a response, and now, with the show ending, that opportunity is gone.

The loss of the show hits a bit harder for the comedian due to what he once believed about the job. When Colbert first took over in 2015, Jay Leno had called to congratulate him, joking that he’d landed a position for life.

Stephen Colbert Turns Attention To Longtime’ Lord Of The Rings’ Passion Project

Outside of late night, Colbert says he has been channeling his energy into something much closer to the heart, a long-developing project tied to “The Lord of the Rings.”

The comedian revealed he has been working on it quietly for about six years, describing it as a true passion project.

With “The Late Show” wrapping up, that project is finally getting his full attention. He’s now co-writing a new installment in the franchise, taking a more hands-on role than he’s been able to before. Even with new scripts and offers already coming in, he’s not in a rush to jump into the next thing.

More About Stephen Colbert’s ‘LOTR’ Plans

While there’s still the possibility of building something entirely original down the line, for now, Colbert is staying focused on the “Lord of the Rings” project.

As for skepticism from parts of the fanbase questioning his place in such a beloved franchise, Colbert noted that he isn’t trying to win the “trust” of the fans and will let the work speak for itself.

“I mean, there’s no reason to,” he told the publication. “And there’s no value in me addressing that because all you can do as — I’ll use a loaded term here — an artist is follow your heart and the craft that you have learned to try to turn this into something that is not fandom but drama.”

The comedian is also not doing it alone as he is collaborating with Philippa Boyens, whose history with the franchise adds a level of credibility that helps anchor the project.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘Tone-Deaf’ Remarks About ‘Rich White Dudes’

Gwyneth Paltrow on the red carpet

Gwyneth Paltrow is facing online criticism after weighing in on wealth inequality and tech billionaires during a recent podcast episode. During a recent conversation, Gwyneth Paltrow reflected on what she sees as a growing cultural obsession with wealthy tech figures.

The Oscar-winning actress and wellness mogul sparked debate after discussing Silicon Valley power players with business journalist Kara Swisher on “The Goop Podcast.”

“How did we get here as a culture?” she asked. “Obviously, there’s so much revenue and profit driving this whole thing, that’s at the heart of it, but how do you think we got to this place in culture where nothing matters and now all that matters is kind of these super rich white dudes who are breaking rules, setting rules, seemingly not caring so much about the downstream impact on everything, from health to culture.”

The comments appeared aimed at major Silicon Valley figures like Mark Zuckerberg and other influential tech executives.

Paltrow And Swisher Question America’s ‘Idolatry Of Wealth’

Swisher agreed with Paltrow’s concerns, arguing that society has become too focused on idolizing innovation and wealth. “I think we have an idolatry of innovators, an idolatry of wealth, and if you’re wealthy, you must be smarter, when they got all manner of shortcuts,” she said. “And the innovations that they took advantage of were paid for by the American public, by the way.”

Swisher also questioned why such a small group of people holds so much influence, asking, “Why does a small, homogeneous group of people get to decide for the rest of us?”

Paltrow then shifted the discussion toward broader cultural ideas around success and status. “I feel like there’s something so endemic to being an American about this idea that anybody can do it from whatever socioeconomic background,” she said. “But we put this hierarchy. It’s like we’re so hungry for a hierarchy to make sense of our lives or something like that. And we imbue these guys with this extraordinary, I don’t know, God-like…”

The conversation quickly sparked backlash online, with critics accusing Paltrow of being disconnected from the realities she was discussing. Many pointed out that the actress herself is extraordinarily wealthy, with an estimated net worth reportedly around $200 million.

Others noted her Hollywood upbringing, as the daughter of actress Blythe Danner and producer Bruce Paltrow. For some viewers, that background made her criticism of wealthy elites feel ironic, leading several social media users to label the interview “tone deaf.”

Paltrow Previously Revealed She Was ‘Fired’ Following ‘Conscious Uncoupling’ Backlash

The latest criticism comes just weeks after Gwyneth Paltrow reflected on another public backlash moment that she says impacted her career following her split from Chris Martin. During an appearance on “Good Hang with Amy Poehler,” Paltrow recalled the intense reaction surrounding the phrase “conscious uncoupling,” which she famously used when announcing her divorce from the Coldplay frontman in 2014.

“I was supposed to do a movie at one point, and it was right after the conscious uncoupling thing with Chris, and there was a lot of harsh stuff in the press,” she explained. “The distributor was like, this might be too hot to touch.”

She then added sarcastically, “That was great because I was getting a divorce, and then I got fired. That was so awesome.”

Host Amy Poehler defended the actress during the conversation, telling her, “You were ahead of your time.”

Paltrow went on to explain that the phrase was never intended to criticize traditional divorces, but rather to suggest separations didn’t always have to be hostile. “Say you had a really nasty divorce or your parents had a nasty divorce, and then you hear this idea that it doesn’t have to be done this way,” she said. “I think the implicit learning is like, ‘Oh f-ck they’re saying I did something wrong,’ which, of course, that wasn’t the intention.”

Reflecting on the backlash years later, Paltrow admitted she understands why people reacted so emotionally. “When we’re hurt, we say things we don’t mean,” she said. “We get angry, we respond. That’s humanity.”

Kardashian explained that she only attended Coachella once, estimating the trip happened around 2016. “I’ve gone once. It was many moons ago. I feel like 2016, or something like that,” she shared. “Wasn’t the best experience. I got drugged without me knowing, but I think everyone knew.”

The Good American co-founder clarified that she doesn’t believe anyone intentionally targeted her, but now suspects she unknowingly consumed a drink containing drugs at a party in the desert. “I don’t think anyone, like, drugged me,” she explained. “I just think I was the dumb one and didn’t realize that everyone was on drugs, and I remember drinking this drink and just feeling really crazy.”

As the substances kicked in, Kardashian said she became overwhelmed and confused, eventually locking herself inside a bathroom for hours. “No one wants to feel like that and not know why they’re like that,” she said. “I just didn’t realize what was happening until after it happened, like, that I was on drugs and everyone was yelling at me because I wouldn’t get out of the bathroom.”

The experience left her terrified. “But I got scared. I was in my head,” Kardashian admitted. “I was so scared, so my experience was not good.”

Khloé Kardashian Recently Admitted She Had ‘FOMO’ Over Coachella

Interestingly, despite her negative past experience at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Khloé Kardashian recently revealed she almost considered returning to the desert this year. During a previous episode of “Khloé in Wonderland,” Kardashian told guest Kris Jenner that she experienced unexpected “FOMO” over missing the festival, particularly because all of her sisters attended.

“The first weekend was True’s birthday weekend,” she explained on the April 29 episode. “It’s probably the first year ever I’ve had FOMO from Coachella, because I genuinely couldn’t care less, but I’ve never had any Coachella where all [my] sisters are there. I was the only one not there.”

While Khloé stayed back in Los Angeles, sisters Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner were all spotted attending festival events and parties throughout the weekend. Khloé did admit she had considered making the trip partly to catch Justin Bieber’s headline-making performance.

Kardashian Also Reflected On Her DUI Arrest

Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Kardashian also revisited her 2007 DUI arrest, admitting that at the time, she didn’t fully understand how serious the situation was. “I didn’t know I was going to go to jail because of that, ’cause it was my very first offense,” she explained.

Kardashian went on to describe some of the more surreal details of her time behind bars, recalling what she wore the night she was taken into custody and how out of place she felt in the holding cell. “But I was in a very short dress, so I looked questionable, I imagine,” she recalled. She also “never used the restroom, not one time,” during the hours she spent in the holding cell, she said. “And that still fascinates me.”

The reality star recalled being shocked when she was taken into custody and having to spend the weekend in jail because her release couldn’t be processed until Monday. “They can’t process you until a weekday, so I was in a holding cell with 23 other women, who were all prostitutes, besides me,” she said. “But I was in a very short dress, so I looked questionable, I imagine.”

The following year, Kardashian briefly returned to jail after violating her probation.

Khloé Kardashian also revisited one of the most iconic moments from her legal troubles, her now-famous mugshot. The reality star confirmed that her best friend, Malika Haqq, was the one responsible for styling her hair before she turned herself in. “Malika did do my hair,” Kardashian revealed with a laugh. “She did a good job.”

Khloé explained that the mugshot was taken when she surrendered herself to serve a 30-day jail sentence after violating probation tied to her DUI case. “I had to turn myself in, because I had to serve 30 days in jail,” she said, later clarifying that she did not end up serving the full sentence. “That was much scarier, because thinking I was gonna spend 30 days in jail wasn’t anything I thought about [before].”

Goldie Hawn Allegedly ‘Stung’ By Meryl Streep’s Brutal Truth Bomb

Published

Goldie Hawn at Oscars 2025

Goldie Hawn was reportedly unhappy with Meryl Streep‘s comments about her tardiness on the set of “Death Becomes Her.”

Sources close to Hawn claim the remarks struck a nerve, with the actress feeling that her former co-star should not have addressed the issue publicly.

It was also suggested that Goldie Hawn is concerned that the comments could further impact her chances of landing major roles, particularly at this stage in her career.

Despite sharing a close friendship, Streep didn’t shy away from calling out Goldie Hawn recently over what she claimed was the actress’s past habit of being late to set and sometimes being difficult to work with.

While Hawn hasn’t given any public response to the comments, sources close to her have revealed that she heard everything and felt “stung” and unhappy that her so-called friend would make such remarks about her in public.

“The pain is not what Meryl said — it is that she said it in public,” a source told Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice Substack.”

According to the source, Streep could have stopped herself from making such comments during her chat with Vanity Fair, where she discussed the 1992 comedy-fantasy Death Becomes Her, in which they both starred.

“She did not have to say it. She chose to. And Goldie heard the message loud and clear,” added the insider.

Adding to the conversation, another source hinted that there was no upside to Streep making such a comment about Hawn.

They pointed out that Hawn has allegedly struggled to land top roles over the years, despite having both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.

Now, the negative attention on her persona, caused by Streep, could make it even harder for her to secure such roles.

“Goldie has spent years trying to quietly find her way back into meaningful roles,” shared the insider about the actress, who had been in only a handful of movies since the last decade.

The insider added, “Hollywood already gives women her age fewer chances, fewer scripts, and far less grace. Being publicly branded unreliable by one of the most respected actresses in the business is the last thing she needed.”

Per the source, the situation hurts Hawn even more due to how Streep’s comments wouldn’t affect her own chances of getting roles.

“Meryl loses nothing by saying it,” the source shared. “She still gets the scripts. She still gets the calls. Goldie is the one who pays for it.”

What Meryl Streep Said About Goldie Hawn

Streep’s interview was published on April 30 and included a recollection of her time with Hawn on the set of Death Becomes Her.

In addition to noting that Hawn was often late to set, she reflected on how her tardiness sometimes frustrated her, as she herself was always punctual.

“She had a red convertible, I remember. And she’d drive herself to set, so that was probably the problem,” Streep further recalled, per E! News.

Streep’s remarks about Hawn weren’t entirely critical, as she also described her former co-star as “adorable” and said she “loved her.”

Streep further shared that over the years they had become even closer, adding that any differences they experienced on set had long since been put behind them.

“She’s one of my buddies, and over the years, we’ve had some laughs about that movie because people love it,” the Oscar winner said.

“I thought it was like a documentary on Beverly Hills,” she noted about the cult classic.

Meryl Streep Also Spoke About Walking With Bruce Willis

Elsewhere in the interview, Streep opened up about starring alongside Bruce Willis in the film.

The actor, who is currently living with frontotemporal dementia, played the love interest Ernest Menville, over whom Streep and Hawn’s characters battle.

Unlike her comments about Hawn, Streep had nothing negative to say about working with Willis, despite the actor having a reputation at the time for being difficult on some film sets.

“Bruce was divine,” she said of the Hollywood veteran who quit acting after his diagnosis. “I guess he was a bad boy on certain sets and came with a little reputation for being difficult, but we had so much fun with him. He was such a gent, and so game, and willing to be ridiculous. I just thought he was wonderful.”

Stars Reveal If They’d Vote for Spencer Pratt as L.A. Mayor

Every Laguna Beach and The Hills Star Who Reacted to Spencer Pratt Bid for LA Mayor Kristin Cavallari Stephanie Pratt

Spencer Pratt is saying goodbye to reality TV and hello to politics.

Exactly one year after a wildfire burned down his family’s home in Pacific Palisades, California, Pratt announced that he was running for mayor of Los Angeles.

“The system in Los Angeles isn’t struggling; it’s fundamentally broken,” Pratt said at the “They Let Us Burn” public demonstration on January 7, 2026. “It is a machine designed to protect the people at the top and the friends they exchange favors with, while the rest of us drown in toxic smoke and ash. Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action.”

He continued, “This just isn’t a campaign; this is a mission, and we’re gonna expose the system.”

Spencer Pratt‘s run for mayor of Los Angeles has his former reality TV castmates talking — and they are definitely not all on the same page. The Hills alum announced his candidacy at the “They Let Us Burn” public demonstration in January 2026, on the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire that killed 12 people […]

In April 2026, a UCLA Luskin poll showed current Mayor Karen Bass was leading the race at 25 percent, followed by Pratt at 11 percent. At the same time, the poll stated 40 percent of voters remained undecided ahead of the June 2, 2026, primary.

As the race continues, Us Weekly is breaking down what celebrities are saying about Pratt’s run for political office. See who could vote for the Hills alum and who publicly opposes his latest career ambitions.

Meghan McCain

The former View panelist shared her prediction for Pratt’s candidacy on social media without revealing who she would hypothetically vote for.

“I’m telling you this guy is going to win,” McCain, who lives outside California, wrote via X on April 29, 2026, when showcasing one of Pratt’s campaign ads against Bass.

Yvette Nicole Brown

The Community actress expressed concerns that Pratt could pull ahead in the Los Angeles race for mayor.

“This nation is unserious and has learned nothing. 💔,” Brown wrote via Threads on April 24, 2026, seemingly referring to President Donald Trump, a former reality TV star-turned-politician.

Stephanie Pratt

Spencer’s sister said she will not be endorsing her family member for mayor of Los Angeles.

“Spencer has done great work for the Palisades. But LA does not need another unqualified and inexperienced mayor,” Stephanie wrote via X on February 14, 2026. “A vote for him is a vote for stupidity. He’s just trying to stay famous and sell his memoir don’t be fooled. In an ideal world, the Palisades would have their own mayor and police department. I would love [for] him to be mayor of [the] Palisades but not LA with 4 million people. I’d be impressed if a republican could turn LA democrats thb.”

“Listen, man, I’m voting for you,” Rogan told Pratt during the April 15, 2026, episode of his “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

While the podcast host later clarified that he lives in Texas, Rogan added, “I mean, if I lived in Los Angeles, no question whatsoever, I would vote for you.”

Kristin Cavallari

Although she currently lives in Tennessee, Cavallari couldn’t help but express her support for Pratt’s political ambitions.

“This is more The Hills, but coming off of Laguna [Beach], I had a lot of people say, ‘Talk about Spencer running for mayor.’ So you know what? Let’s talk about it,” Cavallari said during the April 21, 2026, episode of her “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. “I think Spencer running for mayor is f***ing genius. Because I think everyone in politics — I don’t care what side you’re on — everyone is corrupt.”

She continued, “To get to that level, you have to play their game. It’s all an agenda, and I think their goal is to keep all of us divided. They want us fighting, and that’s why I don’t buy into any of it.”

She threw her support behind Pratt again in a May 4, 2026, X post. “I know @spencerpratt personally and he’s not only a great guy but a smart one! Only once [sic] choice la or we are donned [sic]! Spencer will lead us out of this s*** hole!” she wrote.

The Challenge veteran threw his support behind Pratt with a short social media post.

“That’s my mayor  🤘,” he wrote via X on April 30, 2026, while sharing a link to one of Pratt’s political ads.

Audrina Patridge

Pratt’s former Hills costar said she is rooting for the Los Angeles resident as he runs for mayor.

“He’s very smart. He knew how to work reality TV. I know politics is very different — but I mean, he seems very intelligent and is well educated on what he needs to do,” she exclusively told Us Weekly on May 1, 2026. “I’m actually excited. He impressed me.”

While Patridge lives in Orange County, California, and can’t vote in the L.A. mayoral election,, she proudly threw her support behind her former costar.

“He impressed me. I listened to some of his interviews, and at first when I heard, I was like, ‘Wait, is he really doing it? Is it a joke? Is it real?’” she shared. “But he is, and he is very intelligent, and I think that he would make a lot of change to L.A. and he would follow through with what he said.”

Jonathan “FoodGod” Cheban

“From what I’m hearing, L.A. is literally getting a little bit of a heartbeat back. There’s only one chance to save L.A. and one person: Spencer Pratt,” FoodGod said via Instagram on May 4, 2026. “Just because he’s a reality star does not mean he can’t be mayor. Reality stars become billionaires. Reality stars become doctors. They’re very smart.”

The Kardashians star continued, “If you want to save L.A., you got to vote for Spencer Pratt ASAP.”

Jax Taylor

“This race has nothing to do with politics for me,” the Valley alum wrote via X on May 6, 2026. “It has to do with cleaning up this absolute s*** hole of a city I live [in] and making it safe again for our children and our community because right now its [sic] a very scary unsafe for people to live. @spencerpratt.”
