HBO Max has finally announced how it will handle releasing new episodes of its Sunday classics while contending with the Super Bowl this weekend. The streamer has confirmed that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 4, which was due to air this Sunday at 10 pm, has now been pushed forward two days to Friday. It will premiere at 12:01 am PT and 3:01 am ET this Friday before returning to its scheduled release time next weekend. The show is currently halfway through its first season, and it’s already been renewed for Season 2.

HBO is also doing the same thing with Industry, its Succession replacement that has been releasing new episodes on Sunday for weeks now. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the second Game of Thrones spin-off, with the first being House of the Dragon. The new show, starring Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, is set between the events of the flagship series and the first prequel. It tells a much more focused story, unfolding over one weekend at a jousting tournament. This is a departure from other Game of Thrones shows, which unfold a much larger and more complex narrative.

This smaller story has divided Game of Thrones fans through the first three episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The new spin-off is gaining critical acclaim, but many fans are unhappy with the slower pace and smaller scale. The show has also done something that few other Game of Thrones projects have, which is giving audiences a definitive protagonist to root for. Duncan is the best protagonist the franchise has seen since Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

When Does ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Season 2 Come Out?

HBO renewed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a second season months before it began streaming. Season 2 is already in production, and it’s been confirmed that it will premiere before the end of next year. Game of Thrones fans also have more to look forward to this year, with House of the Dragon Season 2, which is likely coming sometime this June. George R.R. Martin has also confirmed that the studio is developing a new prequel around Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).
