Angelina Jolie’s Father Heartbroken Over Her Plans To Leave LA

Angelina Jolie is reportedly planning to leave Los Angeles once her youngest children turn 18, with sources saying she intends to sell her longtime home and relocate abroad.

The move has reignited concerns about her strained relationship with father Jon Voight, who is said to fear further emotional distance from his daughter and the possibility that they may never be on good terms.

Reports also highlight long-standing family tensions, including her separation from Brad Pitt, as reflected in their children’s public use of Angelina Jolie’s last name and legal disputes over Château Miraval.

Jolie’s plans to ditch Hollywood have reportedly left her father, Jon Voight, deeply emotional over the possibility that their already-strained relationship may never fully recover.

Sources claim the two have had limited contact for years, despite Voight continuing to reach out on birthdays and holidays in hopes of rebuilding their bond.

“Jon and Angelina barely speak or see each other these days. It’s been that way for many years now, but it’s not for lack of effort on his part,” a source told a news outlet. “He still checks in with birthday and holiday messages, asking about the kids and praying that one day they’ll be able to put their differences aside and spend quality time together.”

Their complicated relationship dates back decades and has weathered several public fallouts.

One of the biggest fractures came in the early 2000s after Voight made comments about Jolie’s mental health in a television interview, prompting her to legally remove “Voight” from her surname.

Although they later reconciled briefly, insiders say tensions resurfaced “after he spoke to the press about her and her children, which proves how seriously she protects her privacy.”

Political differences have reportedly added another layer to the divide. Voight has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump and a “staunch defender of Israel,” while Jolie is widely viewed as politically progressive and deeply involved in humanitarian causes.

Sources close to the family say Voight is especially saddened by his distant relationship with Jolie’s children and fears that her move abroad could make reconciliation even more unlikely.

While he understands “that she’s sick to death of the rat race and ready for new pastures,” insiders claim he still hopes for one final opportunity to reconnect with his daughter before she leaves the United States.

“What he doesn’t understand — and a lot of people in his world, Angie’s brother, James Haven, included — is why she’s being so coldhearted toward her poor old dad,” the insider added, per the National Enquirer.

Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s Feud Continues To Affect Their Family

Meanwhile, Jolie and actor Brad Pitt continue to navigate long-running family tensions through their children’s evolving identities in the public eye.

Their daughter Zahara Jolie recently graduated from Spelman College with a degree in psychology and was introduced at the ceremony as “Zahara Marley Jolie,” omitting her father’s surname.

It is not the first time Zahara has publicly used only Jolie’s last name. In 2023, while joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, she introduced herself the same way during her induction ceremony, prompting online discussion about the family’s ongoing distance from Pitt.

Several of Jolie and Pitt’s children have reportedly made similar choices in recent years. Reports previously claimed that eldest son Maddox Jolie informally uses “Jolie” instead of “Pitt” in non-legal settings and had considered legally changing his surname altogether.

In 2024, the youngest daughter, Vivienne Jolie, was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” while assisting her mother on the Broadway adaptation of The Outsiders. Around the same time, Shiloh Jolie reportedly filed legal paperwork to officially remove “Pitt” from her name shortly after turning 18.

Adding to the ongoing family developments, Jolie recently scored a legal win in her dispute with Pitt over their Château Miraval winery.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled on Monday that Pitt cannot compel Jolie to release a collection of private emails connected to her decision to sell her stake in the estate.

According to Page Six, the court found that Pitt “has not met his burden” required to override Jolie’s claim that the communications are legally protected.

The ruling was issued without prejudice, leaving open the possibility of revisiting the issue later in the proceedings.

Jolie’s legal team described the decision as a significant win, arguing it reinforces the protection of attorney-related communications and rejecting Pitt’s attempt to access them.

They also accused him of overreaching in his broader legal strategy, pointing to earlier requests for privileged documents that were later reduced in scope.

Representatives for Jolie further suggested that the ruling supports their position that Pitt’s demands have consistently crossed legal boundaries in the long-running dispute over the winery.
