Ashley Tisdale Turns ‘Biggest Failure’ Into $250M Success
Ashley Tisdale is proving she’s thriving, both personally and professionally, despite recent drama making headlines. The “High School Musical” alum is celebrating a huge win with her wellness and beauty brand, Being Frenshe. Created in partnership with beauty incubator Maesa, the line was inspired by Ashley Tisdale’s wellness blog and focuses on scented hair care, body mists, and fragrances.
Ashley Tisdale’s ‘Being Frenshe’ Hits $250M, Turning Past ‘Failure’ Into Major Comeback
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the company has officially surpassed $250 million in sales and reached $100 million in annual point-of-sale sales at Target, a major achievement for the brand, which launched in 2022.
The milestone marks a full-circle moment for Tisdale, who previously launched Illuminate Cosmetics in 2016, a venture that ultimately shut down in 2020. “It was very stressful. I just felt like it was probably the biggest failure in my career thus far,” she admitted.
Now, with Being Frenshe’s success, Tisdale has solidified her transition from actress to entrepreneur.
Tisdale Surprised By Her Own Passion For Fragrance
Tisdale also opened up about discovering a love for fragrance creation, something she didn’t initially expect. “I just never thought it would be my cup of tea,” she said. “I’ve been someone who’s obsessed with candles and fragrance, but to create a line that people love and go on TikTok to share how much they love the scent, it just makes you feel so good.”
As Ashley Tisdale celebrates the massive success of Being Frenshe, past comments about her approach to self-care are taking on new meaning. Long before launching the brand, Tisdale emphasized how important wellness was in her life, especially when it came to skincare and mental health.
“One thing that I have always done is spend a lot more on my skin care than my makeup,” she told Vogue in 2022. “Self-care is super important to me, and skin care is a part of that. I’m very open about how I’ve struggled with mental health.” As a result, Tisdale has built small daily rituals to keep herself centered, such as opening a window, lighting a candle, or sticking to her morning and nighttime skincare routines.
Ashley Tisdale Opens Up About Feeling ‘Left Out’ In Viral ‘Toxic Mom Group’ Essay
The business win comes on the heels of Tisdale’s viral essay for The Cut, where she detailed her experience leaving what she described as a “toxic” Hollywood mom group. In the piece, titled “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” Tisdale opened up about feeling excluded during her postpartum period after welcoming her second daughter, Emerson, with husband Christopher French.
She described seeing social gatherings on social media that she hadn’t been invited to, writing, “It took me back to an unpleasant but familiar feeling I thought I’d left behind years ago.”
“Here I was sitting alone one night after getting my daughter to bed thinking, ‘Maybe I’m not cool enough?’” she wrote. “All of a sudden, I was in high school again, feeling totally lost as to what I was doing wrong to be left out.”
Tisdale Says Mom Group Turned ‘Too High School’ As Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor Rumors Swirl
While Tisdale didn’t name names, fans quickly speculated the group may have included stars like Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor. Tisdale said she eventually confronted the group, telling them things had become ‘too high school’ for her.
“To be clear, I have never considered the moms to be bad people (maybe one),” she claimed. “But I do think our group dynamic stopped being healthy and positive, for me anyway.”
The situation sparked additional reactions, including criticism from Duff’s husband and a response from Trainor, who said, “I think it was just a lot of miscommunication and confusion.” “I don’t really know what happened, but I wish them all the best. I texted all of them. Ashley texted me, ‘I’m sorry, your name got dragged in,” she revealed.
Ashley Tisdale Stands By Viral Essay, Says It ‘Reached Who It Needed To Reach’
Despite the backlash, Tisdale made it clear she stands by her decision to share her experience. “I think that in the audience, it was for, the response I got was pretty amazing. It reached who it needed to reach,” the actress said.
