Bruce Springsteen is standing ten toes behind his recent political commentary.

The iconic musician is addressing the strong opinions surrounding his vocal political stance during his latest concert run, and while his outspokenness has drawn various reactions, he remains unbothered by critics.

While Springsteen’s political stance is undeniably bold, it has come at a price, and the singer has had to “beef” up security during his tour after receiving extensive death threats.

The 77-year-old rock legend is standing firm behind the outspoken themes featured throughout his recent “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour across North America.

Reflecting on the tour in a conversation with Rolling Stone, Springsteen explained that he felt a strong desire to present a specific narrative and message on stage each night.

He acknowledged that his outspoken views provoked fiery pushback from certain concertgoers and critics, then he emphasized that varying reactions are simply part of performing live.

“This was the show I wanted to make, the story I wanted to tell,” he said. “I went out to find its audience, and I’m sure there were people, and I’ve read things where people were vehement about the content of the show, and that’s just the way the chips fall… And that’s okay with me right now.”

Addressing his decades-long career, the artist noted with a sense of humor that his advanced age gives him total freedom to pursue whatever creative vision he chooses. He also pointed out that following his own creative instincts has defined his entire journey in the music industry.

While close associates acknowledge that his statements have become significantly more direct in light of recent political developments, they insist his underlying principles haven’t shifted at all.

However, where he once relied on subtle metaphors during live sets, he now addresses current events directly without altering his core values.

“He went from subtle messages about politics to blatantly saying things, but he’s not more political now than he once was,” they stated.

Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain voiced strong opposition to bringing current events onto the concert stage. He argued that performers should prioritize providing pure entertainment over sharing their personal worldviews.

Notably, Cain’s comments aligned with reservations expressed by Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger regarding the atmosphere at modern rock shows. Jagger clarified that he occasionally incorporates subtle social commentary into his songwriting, but still emphasized that live events should offer fans a complete break from daily anxieties.

Despite the continuous criticism, Springsteen has continued to speak up against the current administration. During a spring performance in New York, he addressed the crowd before the music began and voiced support for military personnel stationed in international conflict zones.

He wasted no time saying how he felt about the president, saying, “Our democracy, our constitution, our rule of law, are being challenged right now as never before by a reckless, racist, incompetent, treasonous president and his ship of fools administration.”

The singer then concluded his remarks with a direct call for collective civic action, urging attendees to stand firm against political division, as reported by The Blast.

Shortly before his bold political commentary onstage, reports surfaced, revealing that the singer had to reinforce his security due to the heightened threats.

According to The Blast, E Street Band guitarist Stevie Van Zandt disclosed that the deliberate political narrative running through their performances prompted a surge in hostile messages, including targeted death threats directed at members of the group.

As such, the band had to bring in federal authorities to monitor potential risks and ensure audience safety at every stadium stop.

“This tour has been a little bit different because of the high security… It’s a very specific political theme to this tour, and there’s been a lot of threats, death threats. Usually, there’s always some, but this time it’s been increasing,” he revealed.

However, despite the tension and heightened safety protocols, the band remained committed to fulfilling their itinerary without altering the show’s core message.
