Chris Hemsworth may be one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, but even superheroes make mistakes. The actor recently shared a memorable travel mishap involving his family that left them grounded.

In a recent interview, the Marvel star revealed that he accidentally brought the wrong passport to the airport while preparing for an international flight with his wife, Elsa Pataky, and their children.

The mix-up led to an awkward exchange with security officials and ultimately prevented the family from boarding their flight.

Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, Chris Hemsworth recalled the embarrassing moment that unfolded while traveling with his family.

The 42-year-old explained that he accidentally arrived at the airport carrying the wrong passport for one of his children.

“I actually went to the airport once and I had my daughter’s passport instead of my son’s passport,” Hemsworth recounted.

The film producer, who shares daughter India Rose and twin sons Sasha and Tristan, with Pataky, admitted that he tried to convince airport staff that the passport belonged to his son.

“They kind of look the same,” he joked. Pataky immediately disagreed with that assessment, quickly responding, “They don’t.”

The mistake ultimately prevented the family from boarding their international flight and became a story the couple can now laugh about.

The situation became even more uncomfortable when Chris Hemsworth attempted to explain the passport discrepancy to a security agent.

According to the Hollywood star, he pointed to the document and insisted, “This is her,” while trying to pass the passport off as belonging to his son.

The security officer immediately noticed the issue. “That’s a boy,” the agent reportedly replied. Hemsworth admitted there was no way to recover from that moment. “So, yeah, that didn’t work,” he finished.

Hemsworth and Pataky have been married since 2010 and welcomed their three children over the following years.

India Rose was born in May 2012, while twins Sasha and Tristan arrived in March 2014.

While Hemsworth and Pataky largely keep their children out of the spotlight, their kids have already started making appearances in entertainment projects.

India Rose notably appeared alongside her father in the 2022 blockbuster “Thor: Love and Thunder,” portraying Gorr’s daughter.

Despite enjoying the experience of working together, Hemsworth has made it clear that he wants his daughter to focus on childhood before pursuing acting seriously.

“I want her to have a childhood and I think so does she,” he told ET Online in July 2023. The father of three also shared some fatherly advice he gave her.

“I said, ‘There’s plenty of time, sweetie. Go to school, horse ride, have fun, be a kid.’ Because once the train moves, it’s pretty hard to get off, and you miss a lot of things.”

Meanwhile, Sasha and Tristan recently joined their mother on screen in her television series “The Tribute.” The twins portray the sons of Pataky’s character in the Spanish-language production, marking another family connection to the entertainment world.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have proven over time that honesty may be the secret ingredient behind a lasting Hollywood marriage.

In February, the couple, who celebrated 15 years of marriage, opened up about what keeps their relationship strong, with Hemsworth crediting Pataky’s brutally honest feedback for keeping him grounded.

According to The Blast, the “Thor” actor said there is a “north star of truth” he gets from his wife, explaining that while others may praise his work, Pataky is willing to tell him when something “sucks.”

Pataky echoed that sentiment, admitting she is never afraid to say, “That’s actually not funny. It doesn’t work.”

Hemsworth described her honesty as a trusted “barometer” in both his personal and professional life, adding that her critiques are sometimes delivered gently enough not to “shatter” his soul.

Chris Hemsworth Says Escaping Hollywood Was The ‘Greatest Decision’ For His Family

Hemsworth currently lives in Australia with his wife and kids, far away from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood.

A few months ago, he opened up about why leaving Los Angeles and returning to his native Australia was what he called the “greatest decision” he had ever made.

As reported by The Blast, Hemsworth revealed that he and Pataky were no longer enjoying life in L.A., particularly around the time their twin sons were born.

He explained that although they were based in California, most of his projects were being filmed elsewhere, while the family still had to deal with “paparazzi and all the sort of, the trappings of living in that sort of space.”

The actor said moving home gave them the lifestyle they had been missing, with a large farm, horses, motorbikes, surfing, and plenty of outdoor activities for their children.

“Coming home, for me, feels like a holiday,” Hemsworth said. The couple now live in New South Wales with their three children, where both Hemsworth and Pataky say being surrounded by nature has helped create a happier and more grounded family life.
