Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber reportedly “never stopped” supporting their son as he faced years of addiction and mental health struggles, pushing back against accusations that their parenting contributed to his tragic death. Sources close to the grieving family insist the famous couple remained deeply involved in Presley Gerber’s life and did everything within their power to help him.
The claims present a strikingly different picture from the one painted by Megyn Kelly, who criticized Crawford shortly after Presley died at age 27. However, Crawford and Rande have not personally responded to Kelly. The defense of their parenting came from unnamed sources reportedly close to the family.
Cindy Crawford And Rande Gerber Were Reportedly ‘Always There’
An insider close to Crawford told PEOPLE Magazine that Presley’s struggles were never something his parents ignored or attempted to handle from a distance. “This was never a situation involving two absent Hollywood parents,” the source said.
They added, “Cindy and Rande could not have been more supportive of Presley. They were always there for him and did everything they could to help him. The family has always been incredibly close, and Presley was deeply loved.”
According to the insider, Presley experienced periods of significant improvement followed by painful setbacks. “It was very up and down,” the source explained. “There were times when Presley was doing really well. A few years ago, he was working at the family restaurant in Malibu and seemed to be in a good place.”
The insider added that the uncertainty made Presley’s death even more devastating for those who had watched him continue fighting. “That is what makes this so heartbreaking,” the source said. “His family never stopped supporting him, loving him and hoping that he would be okay.”
Megyn Kelly Blamed Cindy Crawford’s Parenting Decisions
The defense of Cindy and Rande emerged after Megyn Kelly scrutinized their decision to allow Presley and his younger sister, Kaia Gerber, to begin modeling as teenagers. “Let’s face it, both kids were commercialized,” Kelly said on “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
She added, “He said he was signed when he was 15. And Cindy Crawford of all people should have known the dangers of that. She should have known the dangers.”
Kelly argued that Presley’s looks and access to the fashion industry placed him in environments that required additional protection. “You’ve got a teenage boy being sent over to New York, to Europe, Hollywood, and he remarked several times about how bizarre it was to grow up in Hollywood,” she said.
Her remarks came one day after Presley’s death and before authorities had determined what caused it.

Cindy and Rande’s visible support continued during what became Presley’s final public appearance.
The couple joined their son at the We Are ENOUGH x Aviator Nation launch event in Malibu on June 11. The event benefited mental health organizations and gave Presley an opportunity to speak openly about his experiences. “The most free I felt was when I was finally honest with myself,” Presley told the audience.
He also encouraged others to care for their bodies and spend time outdoors when they were struggling emotionally. “Move your body regardless of how you’re feeling. Get outside. Get some sun,” he said. “If you don’t feel like moving, lay on the grass.”

Cindy Crawford Called Her Son A ‘Warrior’
Cindy also publicly encouraged Presley when he disclosed undergoing ibogaine treatment in Mexico earlier this year.
Presley admitted he had been “absolutely terrified” before receiving the psychoactive substance, which has been explored as an alternative treatment for substance-use disorders but is not approved for medical use in the United States. “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!” Cindy wrote in response to her son’s post.
She again celebrated Presley in July while marking his 27th birthday. “I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy!” Cindy wrote alongside childhood photographs.
Presley Gerber’s Family Is Reportedly ‘Saddened Beyond Words’
A source close to Kaia said the entire family remains stunned by Presley’s death. “The family is in total shock right now. They are saddened beyond words,” the insider told PEOPLE. “Kaia loved that Presley was so open about his struggles; his family was so proud that he was finding strength in helping others.”
Presley had increasingly used his platform to discuss mental health and substance use. He launched a social media series called “Mental Health Mondays” in 2025 to encourage conversations about subjects many people feel pressured to conceal.
His willingness to be vulnerable reportedly became a source of pride for his family, even as his struggles affected each of them differently.
