Dolly Parton’s Most Charitable Moments Over the Years: Donations, More

Dolly Parton must work longer than 9 to 5 to balance her music and impressive charitable efforts.
In 2022, Parton was honored with the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy for her decades of good deeds and gushed over how “proud” she was to receive the recognition. Her acts of kindness include the creation of The Dollywood Foundation and donating funds to vaccine research after the coronavirus pandemic outbreak in 2020.
“What an honor it is just to be here. I really am just honored and proud to be amongst these great people and doing all these great things to help the world, as they say,” Parton said in October 2022 while accepting the medal. “I just give from my heart. I never know what I’m going to do or why I’m going to do it. I just see a need and if I can fill it then I will.”
The Grammy winner continued: “If I can just do my small part in this world then that’s all that I ask in this world. I am very proud of the Imagination Library, so that is very dear to me. I just hope that I can continue to do good things.”
Scroll down to see some of Parton’s most charitable moments:
1988
Dolly Parton launched her non-profit organization The Dollywood Foundation in April 1988 in Sevierville, Tennessee. The goal was to increase the number of local high school graduates and decrease the dropout rate.
The “Jolene” singer also created the Buddy Program, which gave $500 to every seventh and eighth grader in the area who finished high school. The initiation was successful with the dropout rate going from 35 percent to only 6 percent, according to the foundation’s website.

1991
As part of her successful theme park, Dollywood, Dolly Parton opened the Eagle Mountain Sanctuary. The space spans 30,000 square feet and is managed by the American Eagle Foundations shelters to help ensure the safety of the bald eagles.
1995
Dolly Parton expanded The Dollywood Foundation with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The program gifts children under five a book monthly to help with literacy and further learning in all areas of the country — and internationally. In 2018, Parton reached a milestone as the Imagination Library sent out its 100 millionth book.

2000
The foundation began five scholarships of $15,000, dubbed the Dolly Parton Scholarship, to Sevier County’s high school seniors to help students continue their studies at an accredited university. “The scholarships are for students who have a dream they wish to pursue and who can successfully communicate their plan and commitment to realize their dreams,” the website reads.
2007
Dolly Parton once again gave back to her community by helping raise $500,000 for the Sevier County Hospital by putting on a benefit concert. Dollywood and Parton’s Dixie Stampede dinner theater each pledged $250,000, totalling $1 million for the fundraiser. The funds were used to open the LeConte Medical Center, which is a hospital and cancer center, in 2010.

2016
Following devastating wildfires in Tennessee that tore through the Great Smoky Mountains, Dolly Parton created the My People Fund under her Dollywood Foundation umbrella. The fund distributed $1,000 per month for six months to families who lost their main residence. The foundation revealed in 2017 that more than $12 million was raised and distributed to those in need during that past year.
2017
After releasing her children’s album, I Believe in You, Dolly Patron donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. The donation was made in honor of Parton’s niece who was treated for leukemia at the hospital.

2020
In spring of 2020, Dolly Parton was one of many celebrities who designed a spatula for Williams-Sonoma’s collection of charitable kitchenware. Parton’s design helped earn money for the company’s annual Cook for a Cause campaign.
That same year, the actress made headlines for donating money to coronavirus vaccine research following the worldwide pandemic spike. Parton gave $1 million to assist Moderna’s vaccine research, which was reported to be 94.5 percent effective against the virus.
“I’m just happy that anything I do can help somebody else,” Parton told Today at the time. “When I donated the money to the COVID fund, I just wanted it to do good. Evidently, it is. Let’s just hope we find a cure real soon.”
2021
When Tennessee’s Humphreys County experienced unprecedented flooding and damage, Dolly Parton stepped up and raised $700,000 to get people back on their feet. Parton’s Dollywood and Pigeon Forge dinner show properties gifted a portion of the ticket sales during two October 2021 dates to benefit the United Way of Humphreys County.
Parton’s late friend Loretta Lynn was responsible for the choice in charity. “After the Sevier County wildfires in 2016, Loretta was one of the first who reached out to offer anything she could,” Parton said in a statement. “It meant so much to me that Loretta — and so many folks — were ready to give in any way they could. This was just one small way I could help Loretta’s people for all they did to help my people.”
Earlier that year, Dolly Parton revealed that she used some of the royalties from Whitney Houston’s cover of her song “I Will Always Love You” to give back to a Black neighborhood in Nashville. “It was mostly just Black families and people that lived around there,” Parton said during an August 2021 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, sharing that she invested in an office complex in the area. “It was a whole strip mall. And I thought, ‘This is the perfect place for me to be, considering it was Whitney.’”
She continued: “I just thought, ‘This was great. I’m going to be down here with her people, who are my people as well.’ And so I just love the fact that I spent that money on a complex. And I think, ‘This is the house that Whitney built.’”

2022
Dolly Parton announced in February 2022 that Dollywood — through its operating partner Herschend Enterprises — would start covering 100 percent of tuition, fees and book costs for any employee who is going to college to further their education.
Four months later, the “Here You Come Again” singer donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to help the hospital’s pediatric infectious disease research.
2024
Dolly Parton personally pledged a million dollars to the Mountain Ways Foundation, which helped East Tennessee communities that were impacted by Hurricane Helene. Her donation would be matched by her companies, which included the Dollywood Foundation and Dollywood Parks and Resorts. The East Tennessee native shared that she would be making the donations in partnership with Walmart.
2026
The not-for-profit East Tennessee Children’s Hospital was renamed in Dolly Parton’s honor.
“I learned these lessons early and they’ve stayed with me, and ever since I’ve been in a position to do my part and to help others, I have tried to do just that, especially when children and families need it most,” Parton told Today of the honor. “[Every child] deserves a fair chance to grow up healthy, hopeful and surrounded with love.”
She continued, “That belief is what brought me together with the incredible people at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. For nearly 90 years, their teams have provided compassionate and talented care. They see children not just as patients but as precious little lives, each with a story and a future. In addition to expert care, children need hope and they need comfort and they need to know that they are seen and valued

The ER’s Unexpected Chaos Sets Up the Shift’s Biggest Breaking Point Yet
Editor’s note: The below recap contains spoilers for The Pitt Season 2 Episode 8.
About halfway through Season 2 of The Pitt, a lot has already happened, with Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) struggling to get through his last shift before a three-month sabbatical. Meanwhile, Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) is back, despite Robby’s concerns, and a new attending, Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), is getting ready to assume Robby’s place. However, as Episode 7 shows, Robby’s not the only doctor struggling, as Al-Hashimi is inwardly panicking and trying to reach her therapist. There’s no time for the staff to get too distracted, because a cyberattack has just forced the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center to shut down its entire network. What else can happen in Episode 8, “2:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.”?
Joy Saves the Board in ‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 8
Robby isn’t happy that Al-Hashimi didn’t warn him about the hospital’s cyberattack response after meeting with PTMD’s CEO. She insists she was on her way to inform him, but Robby’s not hearing it. Maybe the department chair should break the news, so together, Robby and Al-Hashimi inform the doctors and nurses about what’s going on. Everything from the digital patient board needs to be copied onto a dry-erase version. Too bad Dr. Dennis Whitaker (Gerran Howell) was only able to snap an unfocused cellphone photo before it all went down. Then, Joy Kwon (Irene Choi) impresses everyone by reciting the contents of what was on the original board, courtesy of her photographic memory.
With that taken care of, Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones) goes back to Deaf patient Harlow Graham (Jessica Flores) and talks to her through an interpreter. Harlow works from home and looks down at a screen all day, so neck pain appears to be the source of her headache. Meanwhile, Robby and Dr. Jack Abbott (Shawn Hatosy) show off the old school chart rack that the staff will be using. Everything’s done on paper, just as it was way back when. They even break out a fax machine!
Robby moves on to an incoming patient, Howard Knox (Craig Ricci Shaynak), who’s presenting with abdominal pain. Dr. Cassie McKay (Fiona Dourif) and med student James Ogilvie (Lucas Iverson) jump in to assist. They decide on a CT scan, which will be a struggle because he’s obese and can’t lie down properly for the machine, and it’s then that Ogilvie makes inappropriate comments about Howard’s weight in front of the patient. At the same time, Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez) takes Roxie Hamler’s (Brittany Allen) parents to her room. They decide to take their grandsons out for ice cream as Roxie gives her father a long, grateful look.
Al-Hashimi shows up to assist with Howard’s care, and the doctors numb his throat in preparation for a tube insertion. As that’s happening, Al-Hashimi leaves to help Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) and Dr. Melissa King (Taylor Dearden) treat Brook Maccord (Staci Lynn Fletcher), a woman with sudden-onset blindness in one eye. As that’s happening, Nurse Princess Dela Cruz (Kristin Villanueva) is trying to keep up, doing Dana’s (Katherine LaNasa) job because she can’t stop in the middle of Ilana Miller’s (Tina Ivlev) sexual assault exam. While it initially looks like Ilana may have left, Dana waits just in case she comes back, and Ilana returns with Emma Nolan (Laëtitia Hollard), ready to keep going. After the exam, Ilana tells Dana that she’s glad she was here today. It’s a feel-good moment that’s soon shattered by a frustrating reality. When Dana drops off the evidence kit, she discovers another one still sitting there from two weeks earlier, so she calls the police and gives them hell.
A Kind Patient Shows the Best of the Doctors and Nurses on ‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Episode 8
Caleb Jefferson (Christopher Thornton) introduces Javadi to Nicole Steadman (Adargiza De Los Santos), who runs a parent support group, and suggests that Jackson Davis’ (Zack Morris) parents speak with her. Meanwhile, as Cassie and Ogilvie return to Howard, she lets the new guy know that he needs to treat patients with respect. The group huddles to talk about what’s next. If he needs surgery, Howard’s looking at a 50% chance of death. Before the tube goes down his throat, taking away his ability to speak, Howard takes a beat to thank everyone in the room.
Al-Hashimi returns to Brook and tells her about a clot-busting medication that might help her blindness, but there are risks. Some get worse, and there’s a one percent chance of death. After talking about it with her wife, Wendy (Victoria Mack), Brook decides to go for it. Out in the hall, Santos and Kwon are wheeling in Jackie Liddell (Briana Burnside), who’s bitten through her tongue, accompanied by her friend Jaquie Warren (Esther Omegba). Santos numbs up Jackie’s tongue before she gets stitches, and Langdon tries to instruct her, but Santos gets easily annoyed with him. She hasn’t forgotten their past. Catching up on paperwork, Cassie asks Langdon how he’s doing. She’s on nine years and counting of being clean and knows the first year is the hardest, so he can call her if he needs anything. Langdon looks at her with surprised gratitude. Finally, someone else is showing him some sympathy.
Due to confusion over the dry-erase board, Javadi and Ogilvie accidentally end up with the same patient, a man (Ryan Brody) with a horrible rash all over his body. He hasn’t left the house, so he doesn’t know where it came from. Both med students are stumped. Meanwhile, Mel is with Brook when she’s called away by another doctor who has just finished giving her deposition in the same case Mel is worried about, but Mel’s peer assures her that the malpractice suit won’t hold up, since her spinal tap on the patient was perfectly by-the-book.
In Just 49 Minutes, ‘The Pitt’ Completely Changed Who the ER Is Really About
These unsung heroes are the hospital’s heart and soul.
With the tube down his throat, Howard weighs in at 474 pounds, but the max weight for CT is 450, so he’ll be taken to a different hospital with a machine that can fit him. He’s a kind man and the doctors and nurses look at him with care. It’s not the same energy for Jackie’s case, where Santos is still displaying her annoyance with Langdon. Jackie’s so drunk, though, that she doesn’t even remember why she’s there anymore. Joy wonders if they should recommend rehab to the patient, which leads to an uncomfortable look with Santos and Langdon.
Dana and Robby Are Very Concerned About ‘The Pitt’ in Season 2 Episode 8
Al-Hashimi and Mohan are being updated on Baby Jane Doe. She has rhinovirus but is otherwise healthy and doesn’t need to be admitted. The plan is to keep her overnight, then send her to emergency foster care. That’s not an acceptable choice for the doctors. In the break room, Mohan tells Al-Hashimi that she’s thinking of applying for a fellowship, but she doesn’t know which one to choose. Al-Hashimi has seen Mohan’s skills with the elderly and tells her to consider geriatrics.
Meanwhile, when unhoused man Troy Digby (Charles Baker) finally reappears, he admits he was spending the last hour with Louie Cloverfield’s (Ernest Harden Jr.) body. He was his friend and had a lot to say to him. This makes Dana smile. Robby’s standing next to her when Javadi and Ogilvie run up, highly concerned about their patient. However, they’re interrupted by Joy, who figured it all out by simply talking to the guy. It’s a case of dermatitis, caused by squeezing a bunch of lemons outside in the sun.
After Robby checks in on Javadi and Ogilvie’s patient, he talks with Cassie about Roxie. She’s in a lot of pain, so he tells Cassie to up Roxie’s pain meds. Cassie and Javadi wonder if it’ll be too much, but Robby’s convinced that, right now, treating her pain is the most important thing, even if it leads to death, which “could be the best outcome.” Back at the desk, it’s chaos everywhere with the network down. Robby and Dana look out on it all, wondering how they’ll get through the next few hours.

Lisa Rinna Reveals She Found ‘Fentanyl’ In Her System
While out promoting her new book, “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It,” Rinna said she took a drug test after the party, and the results came back with something horrifying.
Lisa Rinna has been the center of attention over the last several weeks, as the mother of two and reality TV veteran bumped heads with her “Traitors” co-star, Colton Underwood, online.

Lisa Rinna Says She Tested Positive For Fentanyl At The ‘Traitors’ Premiere Party
According to a previous report from The Blast, a source shared earlier this week that Rinna believed she was drugged at “The Traitors” season 4 premiere party in California in January 2026.
The insider shared that Rinna was “completely inebriated” during the event and that Underwood alerted her team, who safely removed her from the party without incident.
In a new interview with Good Day New York, Rinna confirmed that she was actually drugged, revealing that she took a drug test and found a serious drug in her system.
“I had fentanyl in my system,” she said. “I’m not kidding. I had fentanyl, high levels of amphetamines and other things, but I can’t talk a lot about it because we’re still dealing with it.”

Lisa Rinna Praises Her Husband, Harry Hamlin, For Helping Remove Her From The Party After Noticing Things Weren’t Feeling Right

Rinna revealed that she couldn’t share much about the findings because her team was actively working on the case; however, she praised her husband, Harry Hamlin, for coming to her defense.
Rinna later shared that she’s heard similar stories about The Abbey, the location of the premiere party. “All my daughters’ friends. I mean, this is not a first-time thing. This is something that’s gone on for years, and I do think it needs to be a conversation,” she said.
While Rinna hasn’t been able to address the situation yet, the reality star said that she would on her own time, according to Us Weekly.
The Abbey also released a statement, sharing that Lisa’s team voiced their concerns with the building’s staff, who conducted a “thorough review.”

“When she became unwell, our security team assisted her and escorted her safely out of the venue. We pulled and reviewed all available surveillance footage from the time in question and interviewed staff on duty. We found no evidence of drink tampering or suspicious behavior toward her,” the statement continued.

Lisa Rinna Feuded With Underwood On Season 4 Of ‘The Traitors’
Rinna will appear on the upcoming “Traitors” reunion, airing tonight on Peacock. According to The Blast, Rinna feuded with “Bachelor” alum Underwood on camera after bumping heads during the competition show.
Rinna teased in a social media video that she did what “needed to be done.” She added, “‘Cause you know, if you want a Housewife, I’ll give you a Housewife … honey.”
It’s unclear what exactly went down between the two big-name stars, but it must’ve been messy, as Underwood reportedly unfollowed Rinna shortly after.

Rinna Gets Real About What It Was Like To Film A Competition Series Such As ‘The Traitors’

One thing for certain, however, is that Rinna is likely enjoying her time away from her “Traitors” co-stars, given she recently revealed that filming the show was “the most challenging” production she’s ever been a part of.
“I don’t care. Broadway, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ — this is the most challenging because it’s a game, [it’s] physical, mental, and psychological,” she said. “There’s not enough sleep, and there’s not enough food.”
She also explained that filming as one of the show’s titular characters is even more challenging because of how much time they must invest.
“For traitors, because you work three hours longer than the faithfuls, because it’s secret. Once the faithfuls go home, you go to the turret and do your traitoring. 18 hours a day. Every day,” she said.
Rinna Said She Burned Andy Cohen’s Book During A ‘WWHL’ Appearance
Rinna recently appeared on an episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” and the controversial reality star admitted to burning Andy Cohen’s book, “The Daddy Diaries,” after learning he put their personal text messages in it.
While Cohen apologized for the act, Rinna said that she was overjoyed to burn the publication in her living room’s fireplace.
“It was so beautiful to watch your book go up in flames,” she joked.

Dr. Mariana Vergara Reveals What Goes Into Her 24K Golden Facial: The Treatment Celebs Book Before Big Events
Stay golden! If you’ve ever clocked that unmistakable, glassy sparkle to a celebrity’s complexion on the red carpet, chances are they’ve paid a visit to Dr. Mariana Vergara.
The board-certified MD, who treats A-listers out of her private Beauty Villa Vergara in Beverly Hills, California, has become the go-to stop for radiant skin thanks to her signature Golden Facial: a customizable microneedling treatment that uses 20 ultra-fine 24K gold platelet needles to deliver a glow-boosting cocktail directly into the dermis.
The 45-minute procedure is anything but one-size-fits-all. Instead, Vergara customizes each session with a tailored blend of active ingredients.
Think: Botox, stem cells, exosomes, PRP, hyaluronic acid, tranexamic acid, peptides, vitamin C, and glutathione, infused for a lit-from-within finish.
The outcome? You’re not only stimulating collagen production through controlled micro-injuries, but also targeting concerns like texture, enlarged pores, redness, wrinkles, oiliness, and pigmentation, all in one appointment.
And perhaps most importantly during award season, there’s little to no downtime.
“The patient’s skin will look normal the day after, so it’s very convenient, since no redness or inflammation will appear, unlike with other treatments,” she explains.
“I suggest getting it done 2 days in before a big event for better results and to give skin time to heal so it looks smooth, hydrated, and radiant,” the beauty expert adds.
While the finish is bright and luminous, Vergara’s aesthetic is intentionally understated.
“I have a very natural approach and patients who are looking to maintain their natural beauty without changing their essence,” she shares.
According to Vergara, in-office visits should refine, not redefine, and lasting results depend on a steady routine between appointments.
“It’s all about consistency, the right products, and the right treatments to not look overdone.”
Her golden rules are simple. “Wear sunscreen daily, rain or shine, and don’t forget to exfoliate, so dead skin cells are removed and ingredients can penetrate deeper.”
