The Brady Bunch star Eve Plumb is remembering her ill-fated attempt at dating her onscreen brother, Christopher Knight.

“It was sweet,” Plumb, 67, said of the brief romance in an interview with Page Six published on Saturday, April 4. “It was fun, but we were really already by that time just too good of friends to make that transition into being romantic partners.”

Plumb memorably played middle sister Jan Brady in the beloved 1969 sitcom, which ran for five seasons until its 1974 finale. Knight played middle brother Peter Brady. The show also featured stars Maureen McCormick, Mike Lookinland, Barry Williams, Florence Henderson, Susan Olsen and Robert Reed.

Williams, who played the eldest Brady son in the ABC Sitcom, exclusively told Us Weekly in a previous interview that “everyone” dated offscreen.

“We all hooked up with each other at some point,” the actor told Us in September 2024, ahead of the show’s 55th anniversary. “Not necessarily while we were filming.”

He continued at the time, “I dated Maureen, and Chris dated Eve and Michael and Susan had a little mock wedding at one point. So, yes, we all hooked up.”

The pairings all coincided with the age of each actor’s character on the show. McCormick played Marsha, the eldest daughter, while Knight and Plum played the two middle children. Lookinland and Olsen played Bobby and Cindy, for the uninitiated — the two youngest Brady children.

In her upcoming book Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond, Plumb admitted that her attempts at dating her castmember were ultimately unsuccessful because of their onscreen siblinghood.

“Any attempts at making out that evening ended with laughter and resignation that we’d always be sister and brother,” she wrote, per Page Six, “even in real life.”

The actress added that her and Knight have remained friends “to this day.”

While the off-screen dating attempts were apparently age appropriate, Williams admitted to Us back in 2024 that he did have a crush on his TV mom, Henderson.

Eve Plumb is offering surprising insight into what took place behind the scenes on the Brady Bunch set after past claims of cast hookups. “We knew there was tension,” Plumb, 67, told Woman’s World while reflecting on the dynamic between her onscreen father, Robert Reed, and the show’s creator, Sherwood Schwartz. “You’d hear the door […]

“I had a teenage crush on her, for sure, and she’s got a very lively personality and great sense of humor, but I knew that I wanted to have music in my career [in] acting, and so I talked to her a lot about that,” he told Us at the time. “I had found this singer coming into the Copacabana near Beverly Hills. I can’t think of exactly where it was, but I invited her to go together as a date, and she said, ‘Ok,’ so I was thrilled. And now for me, it was a date.”

He continued, “I did go in for a little kiss, and she was nice enough to return it. So it was a highlight. Nice little peck, yes.”
