Forgotten Anthology Is The Perfect Video Game Film, Now Streaming Free
By Chris Snellgrove
| Published

The term “video game film” makes many movie lovers shudder, and for good reason: box office history is filled with awful game adaptations, including the notoriously grungy Super Mario Bros. and the confusingly disjointed Wing Commander. Between these and other flops (including Double Dragon and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation), it’s easy for gamers to think there are no good films based on their favorite titles. However, the perfect video game movie dropped 15 years ago, and it’s been quietly gaining a cult following ever since.
That movie is Halo Legends (2010), an animated anthology that explores the world of Master Chief; he’s a Spartan charged with protecting humanity from an encroaching alien menace, but even he can’t take on an entire space empire by himself. This is a film that helps you learn more about the fictional universe of Halo, bringing to life one of the most successful franchises in video game history. Whether you want to help Master Chief “finish this fight” or just vibe out to beautiful animation and killer fight scenes, you should stream Halo Legends for free on Tubi!
Time To Finish The Fight

The cast of Halo Legends is full of some fun surprises for anime fans, including David Wald (best known for voicing the titular protagonist of Golgo 13) as Master Chief. Meanwhile, Atsuko Tanaka (best known for voicing Major Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell) plays Dr. Haley, Chief’s mother figure and the creator of Cortana. Speaking of which, Ai Maeda (best known for voicing O-Ren in Kill Bill’s anime sequence) plays Cortana, Chief’s own AI-powered Girl Friday.
There is no singular premise for Halo Legends: rather than telling one story, this anthology is broken up into seven smaller films focusing on different aspects of the Halo universe. Some of these are lore-heavy films that expand our knowledge of everything from Covenant culture to the relationship between Flood and Forerunners. Other short films are just cool side stories featuring marines, Spartans, Helljumpers, and more.
Little Movie, Big Impact

Even though it went straight to video, Halo Legends quickly proved itself a Spartan-sized financial success. It earned $11 million in DVD and Blu-Ray sales, and it was ranked as the second top-selling Blu-Ray the week of its release. Sadly, this ambitious anthology never got a sequel, though most Halo fans would certainly prefer these animated adventures over the later, live-action series.
When Halo Legends came out, it proved to be a hit with the most important audience of them all: the fans. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an audience score of 72 percent, with viewers praising it for its unique combination of different animation styles and different stories. According to most who watched Halo Legends, this approach helped to flesh out one of the coolest fictional universes (video game or otherwise) ever created.
A Buffet Of Cool Animation Styles

Even if you’re not a huge fan of the video game franchise, it’s worth watching Halo Legends for the same reason it’s worth watching any good anthology: there’s a little something for everyone! Like The Animatrix before it, this film presents a series of different vignettes in different styles and even genres. You may not like every short film, but you’re sure to love at least a few of these slickly-produced stories.
Speaking of slick, the animation and production quality are high throughout the entirety of Halo Legends. The short films each look and feel different, but what they share in common is killer animation and immersive voicework. Even if you’ve never picked up a controller and walked in the virtual boots of Master Chief, this movie is a great way to discover what makes this fictional universe so compelling to its legion of fans.
Rocking Some Big Sword Energy

If you are already a major fan, though, you’ll likely enjoy how Halo Legends expands the lore of Spartans and Covenant in new and interesting ways. Sure, some of this information is buried in the robust library of Halo books, but let’s face it: it’s cooler to see the deep background of this action-centric series brought to life in a more visceral way onscreen. After all, this is a gaming franchise founded on the holy trinity of “run, shoot, and toss grenades,” and it’s fun to see Halo’s signature frenetic gameplay brought to life in short films like “Prototype” and “The Package.”
Will you agree that Halo Legends is the perfect video game, or would you like to tag this nostalgic anthology with a sticky grenade? You won’t know until you grab the remote (you left it between the Assault Rifle and the Battle Rifle) and stream it for free on Tubi. Whether you’re one of the gamers keeping Halo Infinite alive (there are dozens of us, dozens!) or are completely new to this sci-fi franchise, this anthology is guaranteed to surprise you right up until the credits.

Suspect Identified After Austin Bar Mass Shooting
Roomies, things got scary in downtown Austin early Sunday morning. A popular bar became the scene of chaos after a gunman opened fire, leaving at least three dead and 14 injured before police fatally shot the suspect. Authorities have now identified the man as Ndiaga Diagne. And, the FBI’s joint terrorism task force has been called in to help figure out what exactly happened.

Gunman Opens Fire Outside Austin Bar
According to officials, Ndiaga Diagne, a naturalized American from Senegal who moved to the U.S. in 2006, was armed with both a pistol and an assault rifle. Police say he drove a large SUV around the block before opening fire in front of the Buford’s bar then exited the vehicle and continued shooting. Officers arrived at the scene within 57 seconds of the first 911 call and confronted the gunman immediately, preventing the death toll from being much higher.
Ndiaga Diagne’s History & Alleged Terror Link Examined
Furthermore, it was reported that Diagne was wearing a “Property of Allah” hoodie. While still under investigation, reports state that he could’ve allegedly been acting in retaliation for recent U.S. strikes on Iran, law enforcement sources told the New York Post. Diagne was described as a long-time emotionally disturbed individual with a history of arrests spanning both New York and Texas. He had lived in New York City since 2000, accumulating multiple arrests between 2001 and 2016, including a 2001 bust for illegal vending, though three other cases remain sealed. After moving to Texas, neighbors noted erratic behavior, though authorities say no prior violent incidents were reported locally.
Reports further claim that investigators found a Quran in his car. Also, he was reportedly wearing an undershirt featuring Iranian symbols or the Iranian flag when he opened fire. The combination of his past arrests, mental health struggles, and possible political motives has law enforcement carefully examining every angle.
FBI Probes Terror Link As Texas Boosts Security
FBI investigators are currently examining a potential terrorist link, though no motive has been confirmed. Evidence recovered from Diagne and his vehicle raised concerns, and authorities are also reviewing his history of mental health issues. Meanwhile, Texas Governor Greg Abbott referenced recent U.S.-Israel tensions, warning that anyone using global conflicts to threaten Texans would face “decisive and overwhelming force.” Additionally, the National Guard and local law enforcement increased patrols across the state.
After the news broke, Mayor Kirk Watson and emergency officials praised the swift response from police and paramedics. He even noted that their routine presence in downtown Austin likely saved lives. Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes, with screaming, crying, and panicked bystanders. Meanwhile, former bar employees shared relief that staff survived the horrific attack. Public attention is now shifting toward Texas gun laws, which critics say remain dangerously lenient, allowing concealed carry without permits and ranking the state low in national firearm safety standards.

Logan Paul Loses Bidding War for Hulk Hogan’s Bloody Wrestling Boots
Logan Paul nearly became the new owner of Hulk Hogan’s bloody wrestling boots before losing a bidding war.
“Stayed up until 2am in a bidding war trying to win Hulk Hogan’s worn & signed boots from Wrestlemania 1,” Paul, 30, wrote via X on Sunday, March 1. “The inscription read ‘These are my real boots with my real blood on them from MSG, Hulk Hogan.’”
He continued, “I tapped out at $1,021,000. Gg to the winner.”
Paul shared a screenshot of the yellow lace-up tall boots, with Hogan’s message written on the side. The picture noted that Hogan wore the boots in 1985.
Per the screenshot, the boots were sold on Saturday for $1,037,000. A message underneath read that Paul’s final bid of $1,021,750 was ultimately outmatched.
Hogan began his wrestling career in the late 1970s, later joining the WWE in 1979. He officially retired from wrestling in 2012. More than a decade later, Hogan died of a heart attack in July 2025. He was 71.
Medical documents obtained by Us Weekly revealed that Hogan had a history of leukemia CLL. One month before his death, a source told Us that Hogan underwent a “pretty serious” heart surgery but was “doing well.”
Paul, meanwhile, made his in-ring debut at WrestleMania in 2022. That same year, Paul announced that he signed with WWE.
“I think it’s safe to say @LoganPaul shocked the world with his abilities as a guest at #WrestleMania … just imagine what he’ll do as a @WWE Superstar. Congratulations and welcome!” Triple H., a former WWE superstar and the VP of talent strategy and development at WWE, tweeted at the time.
The next year, Paul re-signed with WWE on a multiyear deal. “I feel incredibly blessed to have found something that I’m good at, at 28 years old,” he said in a statement at the time. “And the fact that the organization believes I’m good enough to continue hopefully building this WWE legacy is mind-blowing.”
Paul won his first major belt in the WWE in 2023, becoming the United States Champion after defeating Hall of Fame wrestler Rey Mysterio at the Crown Jewel event.
Earlier this year, Paul made headlines when he teased a wrestling match with Bad Bunny — a longtime wrestling fan — after previously sharing on a red carpet that he was not excited for the rapper’s Super Bowl Halftime show. (Paul later admitted on his podcast that he was an “ass” on the red carpet.)
“Let’s peel back the f***ing curtain. I’m going to stop f***ing around. Bad Bunny is a world-renowned superstar,” Paul said on a February 17 episode of his “Impaulsive” podcast. “He also can be a WWE superstar when he wants. He’s a good wrestler. He can f***ing wrestle.”
He continued, “There have been talks about maybe us wrestling. It’s been floated around. I’ve been candid about the fact that I’d love to do it. I think it would be the greatest WWE match of all time. I really believe that.”

Prime Video’s Steamy New Book Adaptation Sounds Like the Perfect Replacement for ‘Heated Rivalry’ [Exclusive]
Between Olympic victories and the smash hit of HBO Max’s Heated Rivalry, ice hockey is everywhere in the present cultural zeitgeist. Soon, Prime Video will provide fans with a new show to further add fuel to the fire. Off Campus is coming to Prime Video in May. The series is by romcom author Elle Kennedy and the series operates similar to the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn, where each book features a couple that pops up in other books in the series before and after they have a Happily Ever After. With just two months to release, fans already know who will be playing their favorite characters. Ella Bright (The Crown) and Belmont Cameli (Until Dawn) are Season 1’s leads, Hannah and Garrett. Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy), Antonio Cipriano (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin), Jalen Thomas Brooks (The Pitt), Mika Abdalla (The Pitt), and Stephen Kalyn (Gen V) also star.
Kalyn will play Dean Di Laurentis, who leads Book 3, The Score (and Abdalla will play his future love interest, Allie.) Speaking with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff at the 2026 Actor Awards, Kalyn dished on what fans can expect for the inaugural season of the upcoming hockey-themed Prime Video series. He says, “It’s kind of a coming [of] age story, hockey players, romance, fun, spicy, comedy, kind of show. So yeah, it’s gonna be exciting. I’m really looking forward for people to see it.” Kalyn also explained how to maintain chemistry with such a big ensemble:
“We kind of all talked about it at the beginning, where the most important thing is that if we’re having fun on camera… I think the audience will have fun… I think we all just kind of connected right off the bat. And that’s gonna be a really important thing that audiences are gonna click with.”
Stephen Kalyn Proves He Was Born to Play His ‘Off Campus’ Role
Kalyn tells Collider that many of the actors had to enter a hockey camp in order to get ready for the role. Getting a crash course in the occupation of the character you’re playing is not abnormal in the world of Hollywood, but for Kalyn, he felt right at home. When asked if there was anything he struggled with, Kalyn excitedly explained to Collider:
“I don’t mean to brag but I’m pretty sick at hockey. I grew up playing hockey my whole life. I’m from Toronto, Canada, so hockey’s in my blood. I got nothing, I’m pretty awesome. I think I’m ready to play with USA and Team Canada. I think I’m ready to go.”
Kalyn does get modest on Collider towards the end, explaining, “well, maybe not that good,” but come May, fans can see just how well his hockey chops and acting chops align.
Off Campus streams on Prime Video in May. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.

Filmmaker Reveals Robert Carradine’s Behavior During Final Conversation
Robert Carradine was preparing to step back in front of the camera for a new film role just weeks before his death, and now, the project is set to become a tribute to his legacy. The late actor had been cast in “The Driver,” a mafia movie directed by Connie Lamothe, where he was slated to portray crime boss Antonio Politano. Production had finally resumed after years of pandemic-related delays, making the opportunity especially meaningful for Carradine. Following his passing at age 71, Lamothe is sharing details about their final interactions and how the film will move forward while honoring Robert Carradine’s memory.

Filmmaker Reveals Robert Carradine Showed No Signs Of Struggle In Final Talks About Upcoming Movie

According to Lamothe, there were no obvious signs that anything was wrong during their last discussion in mid-January. “The last conversation was positive and upbeat,” she told Daily Mail. “He spoke to Wayne [Shipley, his friend/Lamothe’s colleague] and was good to go. There was nothing that suggested otherwise. That was in the middle of January. The discussion was mostly about specifics for the table read.”

The director said Robert Carradine had been enthusiastic about joining the project after years of delays. “Bobby was very gung-ho about that. Wanted to come. Definitely wanted to do it. And so that was great. So we got everything all set. We had set the date for February 21, and Wayne, to be honest, was doing most of the communicating with Bobby, and all of a sudden he just stopped,” she continued. “There was just nothing more. No information period.”

Silence Sparked Concern Among The Production Team

Lamothe admitted that she and her colleague became worried when communication suddenly stopped, but chose to give the actor space.“Wayne and I were concerned about that, but some actors do that,” she said. “Not to be unfair or unkind, but sometimes that just happens. We wanted to just kind of let it ride out a little bit and give him some space, depending on whatever was happening with him. And so that’s what we thought we were doing.”
Because they had not heard from him, the production team eventually moved the date of the table read, something Robert Carradine never knew. “So we didn’t hear from him, so we decided we were going to go ahead and change the date, which we did,” she continued. “Bobby never knew that. He didn’t know that the date changed to the 14th of March.”

That realization has weighed heavily on the director.

Director Says She Feels ‘Really Bad’ After Robert Carradine Missed Film Plans Before His Death

“That, for me, was really upsetting, because when you don’t know actually what the details are and what he may have been going through,” she admitted. “I think that was just the hardest part for me was thinking that was thinking that.”
Lamothe added, “I hope, because he’s an actor, that he did not have any guilt or just feelings about, ‘I know it was this weekend. I didn’t go, I wasn’t there. I let everybody down.’ And so I’ve kind of mulled that over a little bit and felt really bad about it. To be frank, whatever happened could have had absolutely nothing in the world to do with what we were doing. I don’t know that, but just being a person that cares, I just wouldn’t want to think that.”
Film Will Be Dedicated To Carradine’s Memory

Although the role will now be recast, Lamothe said there was never any doubt the film would honor Robert Carradine. “I’m really sad that we don’t get to do that, but we’re going to go ahead and make the [table] reading in his honor,” she said. “We’ll dedicate the film to him, without a doubt, because I think he deserved the part. And you know, just in my mind, he was that part.”
Lamothe also believes the project may have been Carradine’s final scheduled role, telling the outlet, “As far as what I know and what I’ve been told, that was the last thing he had, you know?”

Robert Carradine’s family confirmed his death in a statement, revealing he had struggled with bipolar disorder for nearly two decades. “It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away,” his family announced on Monday.
The statement continued, “In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon of light to everyone around him.”

‘Sinners’ Wins Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture
Ryan Coogler has officially added another major accolade to his sparkling career. At tonight’s Actor Awards, Sinners took home Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, cementing the 1930s-set Southern vampire epic as one of the year’s most talked-about ensemble achievements. For a filmmaker who hasn’t yet turned 40, Coogler’s trajectory continues to feel almost unreal — from Fruitvale Station to Creed, from Black Panther to now an entirely original horror spectacle that’s sweeping awards recognition.
Set in rural Mississippi in 1932, Sinners follows gangster twins Smoke and Stack — both played by Michael B. Jordan— who return home after years in Chicago with plans to open a juke joint nightclub. What begins as a celebration of community, culture, and music spirals into chaos when a trio of vampires, led by Jack O’Connell’s Remmick, descend upon the town. The brilliant cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, and breakout performer Miles Caton.
How Good Is ‘Sinners’?
Collider’s review stated that Sinners was Coogler’s most visually audacious film to date — a sweeping, kinetic spectacle that proves his blockbuster instincts are sharper than ever — but it also exposed a blind spot when it comes to delivering genuinely terrifying horror. The nightclub sequences are singled out as the film’s high point: sweaty, sensual, and electric, driven by a standout soundtrack and choreography that makes the horror almost secondary, and the whole film frames Jordan like a real film star, a true leading man, but it also notes that, compared to the sophistication and menace of recent vampire tales like Nosferatu, Sinners pulls its punches. Violent moments often cut away before landing impact, and the vampires — marked by basic visual effects and occasionally awkward tonal choices — feel more theatrical than terrifying.
Sinners is an electric film sparkling with energy and passion. Coogler takes everything he has honed over the past 10 years and crafts a spectacle hoisted up by exceptional visual storytelling. The focus here is action and imagery, so the weaker character development and script than his past films can be forgiven. What can’t be ignored, though, is that Coogler isn’t yet a master of horror. And this is perhaps a great thing to happen to the cinema world. As extraordinarily talented as Coogler is, as intentional his style feels, and as talented as the performers are, horror should never be something that people dismiss as not requiring the same level of expertise
Stay tuned to Collider for more coverage of Awards Season.

Shia LaBeouf Says Bible Condemns Homosexuality: ‘I F*** With the Bible’
Shia LaBeouf is sharing his perspective on homosexuality.
“I know I’m f***ing deep off into the Bible. I know what the Bible says … about homosexuality,” LaBeouf, 39, said during a Saturday, February 28, interview with Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan.
When host Andrew Callaghan asked what the Bible says about homosexuality, LaBeouf replied, “Nah.”
“That’s what it says?” Callaghan, 28, said, while LaBeouf added, “Yeah.”
Callaghan pointed out that the Bible had been written “a really long time ago,” leading LaBeouf to reply, “Bro, you can do whatever you want with the text. It’s not my business.”
“I’m a traditional Catholic, that’s OK,” LaBeouf continued. “I really f*** with the Bible.”
The interview with LaBeouf was published the same day that the actor was arrested in New Orleans for a second time in connection with an alleged Mardi Gras incident. The Associated Press reported on Saturday that he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor simple battery, related to his previous arrest on two counts of battery for allegedly striking someone multiple times while being escorted out of a restaurant on February 17.
The incident reportedly occurred near New Orleans’ French Quarter. LaBeouf’s attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, told the outlet that he voluntarily turned himself in at the Orleans Parish jail after learning that a new arrest warrant was issued on Friday, February 27.
“No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds, and be jailed two separate times for one misdemeanor incident,” Chervinsky said. “Just as he does not deserve preferential treatment, Mr. LaBeouf also does not deserve to be treated more harshly by the police and courts just because he is a public figure.”
Us Weekly reached out to representatives for LaBeouf and the New Orleans Police Department for comment at the time. After his February 17 arrest, LaBeouf appeared in court the same day and has a pretrial hearing scheduled on Thursday, March 19.
During his Saturday interview, LaBeouf reflected on his “behavior.”
“My side is this. My behavior? Bulls***. I gotta deal with that,” he explained. “Does that mean I gotta go to rehab again? I’m just not into it, bro. I don’t think my answers are there. I don’t. I genuinely don’t. If I genuinely did, I would go. I don’t think I have a drinking problem, I think I have a different problem. And I’m going to address it.”
When asked what that struggle is, LaBeouf said he thinks he has a “small man complex.”
“I don’t know what it is. I think it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more so than my drinking,” he said. “That’s where I’m at now in my journey. I’m trying to navigate it. I’ll figure it out.”
He continued, “What kind of things set off that anger? I mean, boy, I haven’t experienced that for a while, but I’ll be honest with you, big gay people are scary to me. When I’m standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry if that’s homophobic, then I’m that. It just happened one time, [and] that’s why I got arrested.”

Bravo’s Caroline Stanbury Shares Update on Sons in Dubai Amid Iran War
Bravo celebrity Caroline Stanbury is giving an update on the whereabouts and wellbeing of her family amid the U.S. and Israel’s ongoing missile strikes on Iran.
“Thank you so much for all the amazing messages I am getting — I am currently in L.A, which is not ideal because my sons are in Dubai,” Stanbury, 49, shared in a video uploaded to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, March 1. “But they are safe and I feel very comfortable with where they are and they feel very comfortable. Obviously I would like to get back as soon as I can but that’s not possible right now.” (Stanbury shares daughter Yasmin and twin sons Zack and Aaron with her husband, Sergio Carrallo.)
One day earlier, in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 28, President Donald Trump announced the United States and Israel launched a join military offensive against Iran.
“I do not make this statement lightly, the Iranian regime seeks to kill,” the president said at the time. “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties. That often happens in war, but we’re doing this not for now, we’re doing this for the future and it is a noble mission.”
The missile strikes reportedly hit multiple targets, including a school for girls, per various news outlets. According to Iranian officials, at least 153 people — including children between the ages of 7 and 12 — were killed in the strike on the elementary school, according to the BBC. The U.S. military’s Central Command says it is looking into the incident, while Israel’s military has said it’s “not aware” of any IDF operations in the area.
The strikes also killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and multiple senior members of the Iranian government. On Sunday, the U.S. military also confirmed that three American service members were killed, the first official American casualties of the war.

Caroline Stanbury Getty Images
“We expect casualties with something like this,” Trump told NBC News of the American casualties. “We have three, but we expect casualties — but in the end it’s going to be a great deal for the world.”
The strikes also shut down the airspace over Dubai, canceling all flights in and out of the area. Iran retaliated by targeting various popular vacation destinations, including Dubai — locations that are often considered safe.
“We are all OK,” Stanbury, who starred on Bravo’s Ladies of London and The Real Housewives of Dubai, continued on Sunday. “Everybody is OK, and like I said the boys are handling it amazingly and we’ll all just wait and see. The UAE is obviously an amazing place and it seems from here to be incredibly under control and they’re doing an amazing job, so that’s all we can hope for. And I will be on the next plane I can back to Dubai.”
Stanbury’s former The Real Housewives of Dubai costar, Chanel Ayan, also shared an update with concerned fans amid the ongoing conflict.
“I am alive but damn last 24 hours have been scary!!!” she wrote via her Instagram Stories on Sunday. “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I will be seeing missiles being intercepted right by my house. Thankful to God and Dubai for keeping us safer and praying for everyone to be OK and safe.”
