General Hospital: Anna Plots a Brutal Trap Targeting Britt?!

Published

on

General Hospital drops the ghost of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and he is living rent-free in Anna Devane’s (Finola Hughes) head, telling her that Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) needs to die. And we’ve got Anna listening and following his orders.

This week, things took a darker turn when Anna visited Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). And what happens next could be downright scary. Today we’re talking about how Anna is making specific and what may be horrifying plans to deal with Britt. I think Anna may be planning a torture shack.

General Hospital: Anna Still in Desperate Need of Help

So, let’s be real. Anna’s mental health is not recovered. Not the way everybody thinks. She told the doctors in France exactly what they wanted to hear so that she could get released and come back to Port Charles. Anna seems to genuinely believe Faison is dead and no longer a threat. So that’s good. But that doesn’t mean Anna’s okay. We saw it before she even left the French psych hospital.

She’s hallucinating Peter. He’s in Anna’s head whispering that she needs revenge. That the only way she’ll ever be safe is if every last one of Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) children is gone. And right now, Anna is following those orders. Remember, when Britt asked Anna for help finding out what happened to Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) and his body? Britt told Anna that knowing would give Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) some closure and some peace. And Anna’s first instinct was to say no. So, she did. But then Peter popped up and told Anna to go back and say yes.

Peter’s Strategy on GH

Because Peter said if Britt felt like she owed Anna, then Britt would be easier to manipulate later. And I think he was right. It might make it much easier for Anna to lure Britt out to the woods for a good old-fashioned kidnapping and torture scheme. That hospital interaction with them made it clear that Ghost Peter is calling the shots. He’s been pushing this agenda for a while that Britt has to die. And after this week, I think Anna is ready to take action. And that’s why she went to see Sonny. And that sent red flags flying.

Anna and Sonny talked about their shared struggles with mental health. And then Anna dropped this request that should have set off every alarm bell in Port Charles. She told Sonny being locked in the Wyndemere tunnels and then confined in the French clinic left her with this really bad claustrophobia. So, Anna asked Sonny to sell her a piece of his hundreds of acres of remote mountaintop property.

Anna said she wants to build a secluded retreat for herself. She was very clear when she told Sonny she doesn’t want anybody to know. Not even Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) Because when Sonny offered to have Diane drop the sales paperwork, Anna freaked out and shut it down really hard. She made it clear she wants this place completely off the books.

Totally secret. And Sonny agreed to sell it to her in secret, but he also suggested that maybe Anna needs to see a therapist. And for a second, she actually looked like she might consider Sonny’s advice because Anna knows deep down she is not okay.

General Hospital: Anna Can’t Help but Listen to Peter

But the moment she walked out of Sonny’s house, guess what? Ghost Peter was right there. He appeared and told her she does not need a shrink because Anna has him. And if we’ve learned anything, it’s that she is definitely listening to Peter. I don’t think Anna is going to get the professional help she needs. At least not until something or someone forces the issue. And I doubt she’s buying that remote mountaintop land from Sonny for a cozy little retreat. I feel like Anna is going to set up a private location where there’s zero witnesses, far from any neighbors that might hear loud noises, you know, like Britt screaming.

Originally, I thought Anna might go a classic route to get rid of her. You know, push Britt down the stairs at the hospital, tamper with her brakes, drug her, you know. Heck, Anna’s got a gun. She could have even shot her. But with this new secret property that she got from Sonny, the possibilities actually get a lot darker.

Anna’s Twisted Revenge Plot on GH

I fully believe Anna is going to lure Britt up there, hold her captive, and take her time, tormenting her with Peter orchestrating every step, just punishing her for the sins of her father, Faison. So, we could very well see Anna torturing Britt on Peter’s orders.  The same way Leisel once tortured Peter in a cabin in the woods if you remember. That irony would be brutal. And of course, Anna herself was tortured by an antagonist. So, this might be some sort of twisted full circle for her in that regard.

And of course, Britt’s disappearance wouldn’t go unnoticed for too long. Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) might think it’s just Britt running off without notice, like she’s done more than once in the past, but I think Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will figure it out a lot faster than anybody else. But once he realizes something’s wrong, how will Jason find her?

Because Anna’s clever, she would turn off her phone, cover her tracks, and since Jason’s not working for Sonny, he has fewer resources. And with Sonny also leaving the mob, you know, Jason might not even go to Sonny for help. And even if Jason goes to Sonny, there’s no reason for Anna to be on their radar. However, if somebody tells Jason the last person they saw Britt talking to was Anna, then he might tell Sonny, who might go, “Hmm”.

And then he might tell Jason, “Okay, well, I just happened to sell Anna a bunch of remote acreage.” And I could see Jason going to see Anna and asking about Britt, maybe noticing that Anna seems really off. And if he gets that info from Sonny, then Jason might go tracking them down. I could see him following all the way to Anna’s new remote sanctuary. We all know Britt isn’t going to die, whether she escapes on her own or somebody like Jason, Sonny, or some other player rescues her.

I do think she’ll get away and that I think this is going to be this big turning point for Anna because once Britt’s found and tells everybody what happened, the people who love Anna will have to face the truth that she’s not better, she’s been misleading them, and that Anna still needs serious professional help, especially if she mentions Peter has been in her head. But first, before that, I think things are going to get genuinely scary for Britt.

Anna has the motive, which is Peter’s voice in her head. She’ll have the opportunity now that she’s buying a secret piece of land no one else will know about and Anna’s got the means to commit this crime which is growing mental instability that’s keeping her from seeing things clearly. So means, motive, opportunity.

Things Taking a Dark Turn on General Hospital

General Hospital has dark stories, but hallucinating Anna and her building a torture shack for Britt might be pretty unsettling. I cannot think of one legit reason for Anna to really want that mountain property. I don’t think she’s planning to build a retreat. And if she gets Britt up to that mountain, planning to torment and ultimately kill her, I think it could be really insane.

And since Britt has been chronically late to work and has disappeared before, there’s a chance Anna could get away with this kidnapping, at least for a little while, and people might think Britt just flaked out. But hopefully Jason wouldn’t fall for that. I do suspect others might also worry.

But the bottom line is Anna’s under Peter’s control. And since he’s not real, this is Anna’s own psyche going off the rails, pushing her to do terrible things. And it’s all back to that torture that happened to Anna. But it’s also kind of odd that she focused on Peter as the manifestation of all this that’s in her head.

But I think that’s also back to Anna’s regret that she wasn’t his real mother and that Peter wasn’t raised better. And Anna also has that guilt for sitting there watching Peter die instead of calling 911 and possibly saving him after a fatal blow. There was, I think, still time to possibly save Peter, but Anna realized he was a villain that needed to die. And now her psyche is eating her alive, and Britt may pay the ultimate price.
