General Hospital: Curtis Convicted & Sent to Pentonville – Will He Miss Baby’s Birth?
General Hospital has Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) facing felony assault and battery charges. And there’s a chance he could end up in Pentonville, especially if they tack on grievous bodily injury charges, which is pretty accurate given what he did to Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson).
And if Curtis is convicted, he might actually miss the birth of his and Portia Robinson‘s (Brook Kerr) baby. So, we’re going to talk about what is going to happen to Curtis as he faces criminal charges and other consequences. Let’s dive right in.
Curtis’ Attack On Isaiah Was Unprovoked on General Hospital
Even though Isaiah did have some words for Curtis, let’s face it, he didn’t start that whole thing. Isaiah and Portia were out for a nice dinner date and she told Isaiah the baby was kicking and she wanted him to feel it, which is Portia’s right as the mother of that child and as a human with her own agency.
But Curtis came in hot because he’s convinced with zero evidence that Isaiah, a renowned and respected doctor who’s only done good in his life, drove off and left Curtis and Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) at the scene of an accident. Why would he do that? It’s not like Isaiah caused the crash. So, why would he see a wreck in his rear view mirror and just drive off?
Curtis Is Projecting onto Isaiah
Curtis is mad at himself and at Jordan because they caused the crash and they are not taking accountability for their own actions. So, all that bubbled up and then Curtis hit Isaiah unprovoked. Even the remark about being a better dad than Curtis does not justify a brutal assault. Especially when Isaiah and Portia were trying to leave. They tried to walk away and Curtis kept trying to start something. He claimed to Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) that Isaiah was asking for it. I don’t agree. That’s just an excuse.
On top of that, Curtis and Jordan were hoping to game the system because her bestie, Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) is the acting DA. And we saw when she was talking to Isaiah and Portia that Justine was looking for any excuse to not prosecute this case. Like when she called it Isaiah’s altercation with Curtis, as if Isaiah started it or was a willing participant in what happened. But Justine had no choice but to move forward because there’s a whole pile of witnesses and the victim that Curtis attacked has horrible injuries.
General Hospital: Jordan Proven Wrong
Not only that, but Portia made clear that Curtis showed zero remorse about what he had done to Isaiah and no concern about the injuries that he had obviously caused. So, while Jordan was certain that her bestie wouldn’t do her job and that Curtis could just pay a fine and get away with it, instead he’s facing a criminal trial over assaulting Isaiah.
And this probably isn’t going to go well for him. So, we’re going to talk about some of the consequences that Curtis may face, not just in criminal court. But in many other ways, including hits that are personal, professional, possibly financial as well.
Curtis Could Face Prison Time on GH
But first, let’s talk about the criminal case that Justine is bringing. So, the bottom line is she needs to recuse herself because she’s the best friend of the attacker’s girlfriend, Jordan. From there, this type of attack is called second-degree assault. And it carries 2 to 7 years in prison, even if you’re a first-time offender, which Curtis is, because he’s never had any kind of criminal conviction. But the state could also charge Curtis with grievous bodily injury, which would upgrade the assault to first-degree.
That’s when you intend to injure. And when you hit somebody in the face, you intend to injure them. And he caused a serious physical injury even though he wasn’t aiming for his hand. But that is what he did to Isaiah. And a surgeon losing hand function easily meets the definition of a grievous injury. So that could see Curtis facing 5 to 25 years behind bars.
Curtis Could Miss the Birth of His Child on General Hospital
A second consequence for his attack on Isaiah could be missing out on a milestone moment in his life. With Curtis’s criminal trial coming soon, unless he or Jordan can convince Isaiah to drop the charges, Curtis might be convicted before Portia gives birth to their child on General Hospital.
So, Curtis might miss out on this whole birthing experience. That would hit really hard because Portia fibbed about paternity and that made Curtis miss out on Trina’s birth and years of raising her. So that would devastate Curtis and I’m sure Isaiah would taunt him because he’ll be there with Portia instead.
Other Consequences Curtis May Face
Another thing we could see is Isaiah may sue the crap out of Curtis for this damage that he has caused. Likely he has destroyed Isaiah’s surgical career. So Curtis may have to pay millions of dollars in future lost income to Isaiah and other damages in civil court. Another consequence Curtis might face is a loss in his corporate standing and his personal reputation.
Aurora stock could plummet because CEO Curtis violently and publicly attacked a respected surgeon in front of a room full of witnesses. Even if Aurora doesn’t cover it, which I’m sure they won’t, other media outlets definitely will. And Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) might have to ask Curtis to take a step back at Aurora until it all dies down.
Even if he doesn’t go to prison over assaulting Isaiah. And if Curtis does go to prison, he can’t be CEO from there. So, once Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is back on his feet, literally, he may capitalize on it and make a move on Aurora. So that would be another possible consequence that Curtis faces.
General Hospital: Derek’s Parents May Sue the Pants off Curtis
And finally, it’s going to look really bad in the court of public opinion that cute little Derek might die. It’s clear that Isaiah can’t perform this liver transplant and it needs to be done ASAP. It’s a very sensitive surgery, very specialized. And Isaiah is the best. So, it might come out as part of the criminal case that Curtis’ attack on Isaiah is putting a child’s life at risk. And if his health worsens, Derek’s family might actually sue Curtis for damages done to their son by his actions. Because Derek might have a worse prognosis because of Curtis.
I mean, Derek could actually die because of all this. So, his parents suing Curtis, that’s a possibility. And we just saw Trina asking Portia to convince Isaiah to show Curtis mercy. But honestly, he’s never shown Isaiah an ounce of grace. Curtis decided that Isaiah is guilty. Because, as he said, he wants him out of Portia’s life and the baby’s life. Also, this week with her going to the Quartermaines to talk to Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliott), you know we’ll see what Portia is asking about. Maybe she’s asking if they know another transplant surgeon to help Derek.
General Hospital: Jordan & Curtis Refuse to See that They’re to Blame
But I suspect Portia being there is pretext to make sure Tracy and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) know that Curtis attacked Isaiah and why. That way, it becomes even more horrible for Brook Lynn to sit silent instead of coming forward and confessing it was her and that she didn’t see the wreck. You know, she was shaken. Because the other car almost ran her off the road and then she drove away without ever seeing what happened.
Even if Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) tells the cops that Brook Lynn had a glass of wine, she’s not at fault. Jordan was the one driving like she was drunk, veering into oncoming traffic so that she could make out with her boyfriend when she should have had her eyes on the road. Bottom line, if Curtis wants to blame anyone for his upcoming troubles, he should look to Jordan and he was an active participant in it as well. So, we’ll see if he loses his freedom, if he loses some of his millions. But, I don’t think he’s going to come out of this unscathed.
