General Hospital: Ric Unleashes Chaos on Sonny and Elizabeth in Explosive Confrontation
General Hospital finds Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) panicking because he doesn’t like how close Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) has gotten to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). And things reached new and worse heights this week when Ric burst into Liz’s living room and freaked out when he saw Dante there with his pants off. And of course, they weren’t doing anything wrong. It was innocent, and it was actually medical, but the optics weren’t good.
Ric already doesn’t like this blossoming connection between Dante and Liz. So, Ric is getting increasingly jealous, and things are going to get much worse with him and Liz this week as Ric spirals out of control. Today we’re going to talk about Ric’s jealousy and whether it’s going to cost him, not only Liz, but also his brother Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
General Hospital: Ric Pushing Liz Away
At this point, Dante and Liz’s friendship, at least on her side, is just that. But with Ric losing it soon, he may actually drive Elizabeth away. We know that Ric sees the connection between Dante and Liz, even if she doesn’t see it yet herself. I mean, Dante sees, but Ric absolutely hates it. And he has worked so hard to get close to Liz again. And that’s why Ric was super snarky with Dante when he saw him giving Elizabeth softball pointers at the park. Plus, she kind of blew Ric off, but then stayed to hang out with Dante when she said she was busy. So, another situation of bad optics.
But in the end, Ric needs to be careful because Dante is Sonny’s son and he’s not going to like it if Ric is lashing out at Dante. Family or not, Ric doesn’t like what’s going on with Dante and Liz. And this week, things get worse. Ric just dropped the bombshell on Sonny. Told him he’s going to ask Elizabeth to marry him. Ric bought this incredible ring. Showed it to Sonny. Said he was going to propose to Liz that night.
And Sonny was like, “Whoa, way too soon.” But Ric couldn’t be dissuaded. He wants to hurry up and lock Elizabeth down because he thinks he’s about to lose her and is just trying to salvage things. He thinks Dante is a risk to them. And Ric told Sonny that Liz is worth the gamble and then he just ignored Sonny’s advice. Headed over to Liz’s to propose.
Ric Freaks Out on GH
That’s when Ric peeped through the window and saw Dante with no pants on and Elizabeth leaning over him and from outside the window. Yeah, it looks sketchy. So he barged in and Ric asked, “What the hell is going on?” And Dante assured him it wasn’t what it looked like, but Ric didn’t believe it at first and wanted Dante to leave. But Liz told Ric that Dante was her guest and wouldn’t be going anywhere.
I liked that Liz stood her ground with Ric and he did calm down a little once he saw Dante was legit injured. And then Liz encouraged Ric to stay and I don’t think she would have done that if something was going on. But he was acting weird at that point and then walked out and left Liz there with Dante. That’s because Ric went somewhere else to stir trouble.
Obvious Chemistry Between Liz & Dante
The vibe between Dante and Elizabeth is noticeable. He can see it. And after Ric stormed off, Dante and Liz had pizza and wine, toasted to everything working out. They’re just friends on her side, but we know Dante’s got some feelings for Elizabeth, and he was bummed out when he heard she was reuniting with Ric.
So, Dante hasn’t crossed any lines. He stayed in the friend zone, but Ric smells blood in the water, and he wants to shut this friendship down before Dante does cross the line. But if Ric keeps acting this way, he’s going to be the one to push Elizabeth even closer to Dante.
And we saw Liz telling Dante, Ric’s insecure, but has no reason to be. And Liz told Dante she hopes that Ric’s insecurities don’t get in the way of them having a future together because Elizabeth does want a future with Ric, even though I don’t think Liz is ready to get engaged based on what she’s saying to Dante.
Ric is His Own Worst Enemy
But Ric is about to mess things up. He ran to Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) looking for help. Told her there’s this growing connection between Elizabeth and Dante. And Ric said, “If we don’t shut this down, that we’re going to lose the loves of our lives.” Lulu just kind of laughed it off and said it’s ridiculous. And told Ric he needs to trust Liz. Although Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) just told Lulu that she needs to start dating, so maybe she’ll wake up a little, but for right now, she’s not in it.
And Ric is worried that Liz wants to be with Dante and that it could happen if he and Lulu don’t stop it from going further. Now, of course, Lulu will always love Dante. And at one point, Lulu really did want Dante back. Remember when she first woke up from that coma? But now, he and Lulu are pretty much friend-zone co-parents. And she didn’t seem to want any part in Ric’s plan to get Dante away from Liz.
General Hospital: Lulu Might Get on Board with Ric
However, Lulu might change her mind later. But for now, Ric continues to spiral out this week, and Liz isn’t going to take it well. You can already see where this is going. Ric’s going to lash out in jealousy. He’s going to act irrationally. He’s going to try to keep Liz away from Dante and force their friendship to end. And Liz isn’t going to like Ric being jealous and controlling, and she’s going to get annoyed. And Liz may actually double down on her friendship with Dante.
Then Ric’s going to keep pushing on General Hospital. Liz is going to tap the brakes and tell Ric, “Okay, look, I can’t handle this. We need to hit pause on our relationship until you can find some chill.” And when they first started dating, he promised Liz he would be better this time. And I do believe that the kidnapping legit changed him. Problem is, when Ric gets paranoid, he makes really bad choices and he’s terrified of losing Elizabeth, he’s going to act out.
Ric Pops the Question on General Hospital
I’m guessing Ric is still going to go ahead and propose, hoping to lock her down so that he can slam the door in Dante’s face. But I don’t see any way that Liz says yes because it’s too soon. And also because Ric is spiraling. The harder he tries to hang on to Liz, the more he’s just going to drive her away. Liz is not going to put up with his jealousy and insecurities.
And of course, Ric jumping to conclusions like he did about Dante makes it look like Ric doesn’t trust Elizabeth. So, all in all, this looks like the beginning of the end for them. And if Ric isn’t careful, he might not only ruin things for him and Liz. But he might also ruin things between himself and Sonny. They have just healed after decades of distrust.
And Ric freaking out about Dante, I think, is going to cause big problems between him and Sonny if Ric doesn’t get a hold of this. And all of this feels like it’s to set the stage for a big Dante and Elizabeth romance. If she officially ends things with Ric, then I think Dante may open up to Elizabeth and say, “Look, I’ve been crushing on you for a while now. But right now, I don’t think that she has any idea that Dante has romantic feelings for her.”
GH Leak: Ric & Alexis Reunion Ahead
Another reason I think Elizabeth might dump Ric soon is we heard from our leaker that there may be a reunion for Ric and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) in the works. And honestly, a lot of fans would love to see Ric and Alexis back together. And Dante and Elizabeth already have a fan base as a couple.
So, at this point, I do not expect Ric and Elizabeth to last. I mean, I knew Ric was going to screw it up eventually. And you could see the writing on the wall once they started throwing Dante and Elizabeth in scenes together that they were going to couple up, which is all fine. But what I really hope is that Ric doesn’t burn the bridge that he spent so long rebuilding with Sonny.
Obviously, he’ll understand that Ric has some concerns about Dante being too close to Elizabeth, but Sonny will not tolerate Ric taking any sort of aggressive action against Dante. That could be the deal breaker. We’ll see how it goes, but it looks like Ric wasted money buying that very pretty diamond ring.
