Influencer Avery Woods is ready for her life to be on full display in the upcoming Secret Lives of Mormon Wives spinoff set in Orange County.

“It’s reality TV, there’s going to be drama,” Woods, 31, teased about the upcoming show during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, while promoting her partnership with Olive & June. “There’s a lot of different personalities and a lot of different beliefs and views.”

Before Woods makes her debut on the latest Hulu show, she partnered with Olive & June to launch a new collaboration of 12 press-on nails designed for everyday life as a mom and businesswoman.

“I feel very, very privileged [at] this point in my career to be very picky about who I work with and I don’t want to just put my name on something for a quick buck. I want to design a collection with a company that feels very authentic. This was just the perfect fit because I genuinely used Olive & June every single day,” Woods explained. “So when they reached out, it just kind of felt like a no-brainer, and they’ve been incredible to work with.”

MomTok is growing with the arrival of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County. “A new group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity,” a logline reads. “While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace […]

As for the show, Woods explained that the spinoff is “really cool and unique” because some of the cast members “are still active in the church,” while “some people were raised Mormon and have left the church” and others “have never been Mormon, but we have very close people in our lives that are part of the church so we know a lot about it.”

“It really is like the community I felt like I was raised in and I followed a lot of the same things these girls did,” Woods shared. “I was married at 21, had my first baby at 23. I met my husband at 18. That was just kind of like the culture we were raised in, but I will say it’s really cool seeing the dynamic of the girls who are still actively part of the church. And then there’s like the LA girls that are not part of the church.” (Woods, for her part, has been married to David since 2016.)

She continued, “We all could not be more different, but I think the coolest part about us all coming together is we’ve started to understand and be more open to how each one of us lives our life, because we all make different choices and different decisions, and we raise our children differently, we dress differently, we speak differently. So I think if anything, we’ve come to appreciate each other more, and also had very open and honest conversations about our beliefs and why we are shaped the way that we are. I think it’ll be really cool for people to see that.”

Woods was announced as one of the cast members joining The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County in April, alongside fellow California-based moms McCall Dapron, Aspyn Ovard, Bobbi Althoff, Salomé Andrea, Ashleigh Pease, Madison Bontempo and Chandler Higginson.

David Fincher’s Decade-Defining Masterpiece Is Streaming for Free This Month

Published

on

01336708_poster_w780.jpg

For the first time in over a decade, one of David Fincher‘s movies will get a theatrical release. This is an astonishing reality that no one, not even Fincher, would have seen coming when he released Gone Girl in 2014. By then, he’d already been involved in the creation of the first-ever Netflix original series, House of Cards, but he couldn’t have known that the streamer would become his exclusive home for the next decade. It still is, it’s just that Netflix has finally decided to fiddle around with theatrical releases and Fincher happens to be someone it owes. The director’s upcoming period comedy-drama, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, will get a four-week IMAX run before debuting on Netflix later this year. Early next year, Netflix will give Greta Gerwig‘s Narnia reboot a proper theatrical rollout worldwide.

This marks a major change in strategy for the streamer, whose leadership has previously stated that movie theaters are obsolete. But Netflix reportedly spent $200 million on The Adventures of Cliff Booth, and any additional revenue will be welcome. The movie serves as a spin-off to movie-theater crusader Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and brings back star Brad Pitt in the titular role. Pitt’s recent success with the Apple TV sports drama F1, which grossed more than $630 million worldwide, could’ve swayed Netflix to give The Adventures of Cliff Booth the theatrical release that, according to many, a movie like it deserves. Fincher is no stranger to big-screen success. After an unpleasant experience on Alien 3, the filmmaker announced his arrival with perhaps the most controversial thriller of the 1990s.

Camp Crystal Lake · Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees

Jason is relentless, but he is also predictable — and that is the gap you would exploit.

  • He moves in straight lines toward his target. He doesn’t strategise, doesn’t adapt, doesn’t outsmart. He simply pursues.
  • Your ability to keep moving, use the environment, and resist the panic that freezes most victims gives you a genuine edge.
  • The Crystal Lake survivors were always the ones who stopped running in circles and started thinking about terrain, water, and distance.
  • You think like that. Which means Jason, for all his indestructibility, would face someone who simply refused to be where he expected.

Haddonfield, Illinois · Halloween

Michael Myers

Michael watches before he moves. He is patient, methodical, and almost impossible to detect — until it’s too late for anyone who isn’t paying close enough attention.

  • But you are paying attention. You notice the shape in the window, the car parked slightly wrong, the silence where there should be sound.
  • Michael’s power lies in the invisibility of ordinary suburbia — the fact that nothing ever looks wrong until it already is.
  • Your spatial awareness and instinct to map every room, every exit, and every shadow before you need them is precisely the quality Laurie Strode had.
  • You are not a victim waiting to happen. You are someone who already suspects something is wrong — and acts on it.

Elm Street · A Nightmare on Elm Street

Freddy Krueger

Freddy wins by getting inside your head — using your own fears, your own memories, your own subconscious as weapons against you. That strategy requires a target who can be destabilised.

  • You are harder to destabilise than most. You’ve faced uncomfortable truths about yourself and you haven’t looked away.
  • The survivors on Elm Street were always the ones who understood what was happening and chose to face it rather than flee from it.
  • Freddy’s greatest weakness is that his power evaporates in the presence of someone who refuses to give him the fear he feeds on.
  • Your psychological resilience — the ability to stay grounded when reality itself becomes unreliable — is exactly the quality that keeps you alive here.

Derry, Maine · It

Pennywise

Pennywise is ancient, shapeshifting, and feeds on terror — but it has one critical vulnerability: it cannot function against someone who genuinely stops being afraid of it.

  • The Losers Club didn’t survive because they were braver than everyone else. They survived because they faced their fears together, and faced them honestly.
  • You ask the questions others avoid. You look directly at what frightens you rather than turning away.
  • That directness — the refusal to let fear fester in the dark — is Pennywise’s worst nightmare.
  • It chose the wrong target when it chose you. You are exactly the kind of person whose fear tastes like nothing at all.

Chicago · Child’s Play

Chucky

Chucky’s greatest advantage is that nobody takes him seriously until it’s already too late. He exploits the gap between how something looks and what it actually is.

  • You don’t have that gap. You take threats seriously regardless of how they present — and you never make the mistake of underestimating something because of its size or appearance.
  • Chucky relies on surprise, on the delay between recognition and response. You close that delay faster than almost anyone.
  • Your instinct to treat every unfamiliar thing with appropriate scepticism — rather than dismissing it because it seems absurd — is the exact quality that keeps you breathing.
  • Against Chucky, not laughing is already winning. You are very good at not laughing.

David Fincher’s Darkest Movie Is Streaming for Free

The movie we’re talking about, of course, is Se7en. Starring Pitt and Morgan Freeman as detectives tracking down an elusive serial killer in an unnamed American city, the movie shocked audiences and critics all the way to a $327 million worldwide box-office haul, and an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It remained Fincher’s top-grossing movie until 2008, when it was marginally overtaken by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, also starring Pitt. In 2014, Fincher broke his personal box-office record with Gone Girl, which grossed $370 million globally. Fincher’s subsequent two features — Mank and The Killer — were both released on Netflix. The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be released theatrically in IMAX on November 25, followed by a Netflix release worldwide on December 23. Se7en, on the other hand, can be accessed for free instantly on Tubi. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

They’re comfortable, flattering and somehow manage to make even the simplest outfit look thoughtfully put together.

The only downside? Many of the pairs dominating Pinterest boards come with price tags that can make your cart feel a little less appealing. That’s why Walmart’s selection is such a pleasant surprise. The retailer is stocked with easy, expensive-looking flowy pants that capture the same relaxed aesthetic for a fraction of the cost. Whether you’re heading on vacation, running errands or simply trying to survive a heat wave in style, these affordable finds deserve a spot in your rotation.

13 Flowy Pants That Look Like They Came From a Boutique

1. Pinterest Favorite: Barrel-leg pants have completely taken over fashion feeds lately, and this pull-on pair is one of the easiest ways to try the trend. The high-rise fit, tapered ankle and structured seam details create that cool, fashion-editor silhouette everyone seems to be wearing. Plus, stretchy scuba fabric makes them so comfortable for all-day wear.

2. Coastal Escape: These striped gauze pants look like they belong in a vacation photo dump from Nantucket. The relaxed wide-leg shape feels breezy and effortless, while the beaded side ties add a playful, beachy touch. Just add a white tank and sandals for instant coastal-granddaughter energy.

3. Linen-Look Luxury: Every summer wardrobe needs at least one pair of easy linen-blend pants. This flowy, wide-leg style delivers that expensive-looking resort aesthetic without the designer price tag. They’re the kind of bottoms you’ll throw on for brunch, errands, flights and beach vacations alike.

4. Boho Dream: Statement pants are big this season, and this eyelet harem pair definitely stands out. The embroidered fabric creates a gorgeous layer of texture on the airy, voluminous silhouette. Pair them with a fitted tank and let the pants do all the talking.

Morgan Wallen is speaking out after his Saturday, June 6, concert in Pittsburgh was canceled at the last minute.

“This morning my team walked on my bus, told me that they had been consulting with local officials and that I should cancel my show in Pittsburgh tonight,” Wallen, 33, said in a late-night video shared via his Instagram Stories. “I said, ‘Why?’ They said that there was going to be strong winds in the area, and I said, ‘OK.’ So, that’s what I did, and that was the information that I had in the moment.”

He continued, “I trusted my team, and I understand that the wind and whatever else happened hasn’t gotten to Pittsburgh yet. I know it has touched some of Pennsylvania, so my heart goes out to all those affected by it.”

Wallen further explained the reason for canceling his show.

Morgan Wallen has canceled his second show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, following his viral on-stage incident involving a piano. “After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,” Wallen, 33, announced via his […]

“The truth of the matter is I have a large stage, that in those conditions, could become fatal to a lot of folks around it,” he said. “I did the best I could with the information that I had in that moment. I’ve been seeing a lot of nonsense about me that is simply not true, and I just wanted to clear the air.”

The country singer further stressed that his “true fans” understand safety comes first.

“I think my true fans know that’s not how I operate in general,” he said of the swirling online speculation. “I had to say it, y’all take care.”

Wallen announced several hours earlier that the concert would be canceled.

“After talking with local officials and my team, there is no choice but to cancel tonight’s show due to severe adverse weather conditions expected throughout the rest of the day and night,” he wrote in a statement at the time. “Safety for my fans and crew is the highest priority. Refunds available at point of purchase.”

The show, which was scheduled to be held at the Acrisure Stadium, was canceled following weather forecasts of scattered thunderstorms in the area.

“It is what it is. You can’t control Mother Nature,” one fan told TribLive of the show he was planning to attend. “ It’s fortunate we’re going to be able to get our tickets refunded.”

Wallen is currently traveling on his Still The Problem Tour, in which he went viral late last month after overturning a piano during a Colorado concert.

“Hey, I just want you guys to know that right now the piano is working,” he said in a TikTok video afterward. “That’s what they told me last night, too.”

The Adult ‘Odyssey’ That Beat Nolan To It

Published

on

Lana Smalls in The Odyssy

This summer, Christopher Nolan is bringing the full weight of a $250 million budget, IMAX 70mm cameras, and one of the most stacked casts in recent Hollywood history to Homer’s ancient epic. Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson.

CosplayGround

There’s just one problem. Someone else already did it … and it’s way hotter.

Adult studio Cosplayground wrapped, released, and delivered their own full adaptation of “The Odyssey” before Christopher Nolan’s version even hits theaters. Six episodes. Beginning to end. Troy to Ithaca. Done.

Inside The Six-Part ‘Odyssey’ Adaptation Bringing Ancient Greece To Life

Charles Dera cosplaying
CosplayGround

The Cosplayground production, which was edited by film wizard Gogodor, is structured as a six-part series the creative team calls “Rhapsodies,” a callback to the oral tradition of Ancient Greek epic poetry.

Written and co-produced by Yannick Dotes alongside Austin Fiascone and directed by Raphaël Massicotte, the project covers the complete arc of Odysseus’ journey home, hitting every major waypoint from the source material.

Charles Dera carries the production as Odysseus across all six episodes. This is a character on-screen from the fall of Troy to the final showdown with the suitors in Ithaca, and Dera is the constant thread tying it all together.

Cosplayground’s ‘Odyssey’ Casting Nods To Christopher Nolan’s Version

Anna Foxxx cosplaying
CosplayGround

Here’s where it gets interesting. As Christopher Nolan’s cast was being announced throughout late 2024 and early 2025, Cosplayground was building their own roster with a clear eye on the mainstream conversation.

Lupita Nyong’o is set to play Helen of Troy in the Nolan film. Cosplayground cast Ana Foxxx in the role, opening the series with an invented final encounter between Odysseus and Helen before he departs for Ithaca, a thread the original mythology never resolves.

Meet The Performers Behind The Most Powerful Women Of ‘The Odyssey’

Anna Claire Clouds cosplaying
CosplayGround

Zendaya is attached to Athena in the Nolan production. Cosplayground went with rising performer Isa Bella, who appears as the goddess across multiple episodes, staying true to Athena’s function in Homer as Odysseus’ recurring divine protector.

Charlize Theron is playing Calypso for Nolan. The parody tapped Anna Claire Clouds, currently reigning Female Performer of the Year, for the immortal island queen who keeps Odysseus stranded for years.

Tiffani Time, a Las Vegas-based performer making a rapid move from creator platforms into full studio productions, takes on Circe, the sorceress who transforms men into pigs.

Octavia Red plays the Siren, shot with custom body paint and practical special effects makeup to give the episode a genuinely otherworldly look.

Lana Smalls closes the series as Penelope, the wife who spent a decade holding down the household while her husband fought his way home.

Homer Never Really Goes Out Of Style

Isa Bella cosplaying
CosplayGround

Production design was handled by Zoe Evans, and the team put real locations to work. The Cyclops episode was filmed in and around actual Las Vegas caves and desert locations. The SFW trailer shows enough of the visual approach to make clear this was built with intention.

Part of what makes the timing so fascinating is that “The Odyssey” remains one of the most endlessly revisited stories in entertainment. From prestige films and television series to modern retellings inspired by its themes of survival, temptation, and homecoming, Homer’s epic has proven remarkably adaptable across generations.

Cosplayground clearly leaned into that cultural moment, blending recognizable mythology with contemporary casting and stylized production choices in a way designed to spark curiosity well beyond its usual audience.

Before Christopher Nolan’s $250 Million ‘Odyssey,’ Cosplayground Already Told The Story

Tiffini Time cosplaying
CosplayGround

Christopher Nolan’s “Odyssey” is the most anticipated film of 2026. IMAX tickets went on sale a full year before the release date. Nolan spent four months at sea to get the shoot right. The whole production cost a quarter billion dollars. And a Las Vegas adult studio already told the same story, episode by episode, from scratch, and got there first.

Homer has been adapted hundreds of times across three thousand years. This summer there are two versions arriving more or less at once. One comes with a $250 million budget and an Oscar-winning director. The other is already available to watch, and probably a lot more fun.

Office Romance Uses Prosthetic Vagina for Childbirth Scene

No, that was not actress Betty Gilpin’s nude body in Office Romance.

Gilpin, 39, portrays Sydney Bloom, a pregnant executive at Cruz Air run by CEO Jackie Cruz (Jennifer Lopez). At one point in the film, Sydney confronts in-house lawyer Daniel Blanchflower (Brett Goldstein) about his clandestine romance with boss Jackie when her water breaks in his office.

Sydney subsequently gives birth on a desk in Daniel’s office, in front of him and Jackie, with cameras capturing the moment the baby was crowning.

“Honestly, I was pretty freaked out when I first saw the prosthetic vagina,” Gilpin told Variety in an interview published Saturday, June 6. “I had a nervous breakdown and then I was like, ‘Oh, but I’ll be holding the ultimate working mom’s hand, Jennifer Lopez, so what could go wrong?’”

To capture the shot, Gilpin used prosthetic legs and a vagina for the scene.

“My real legs were below a table, [I had] fake prosthetic legs, and then a puppeteer was standing at my real legs pushing an animatronic baby out of my prosthetic vagina,” she recalled of the process to the outlet. “It made it sound like [popping]. It was insane.”

Gilpin continued, “The saddest part was when the scene was over and everybody but the puppeteers stayed in the room because the only way to reset was to go under and pull the fake placenta — I think the placenta is not in the movie anymore — but reach up through the prosthetic vagina that I am still zipped into, pull the placenta back and take the umbilical cord and pull it back and then pull the baby back through, and then it was time to do it again.”

16 Years Later, the MCU’s First Sequel Makes a Shock Streaming Comeback on Disney+

Published

on

01186053_poster_w780.jpg

2025 was far from a classic year for Marvel fans, despite three major MCU releases previously looking promising. Captain America: Brave New World was undeniably the most disappointing of the trio, flopping both commercially and critically. Thunderbolts* was a hit with critics but ultimately failed to make its mark at the box office, and the arrival of Marvel’s First Family looked destined to prove a success. However, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach‘s new Fantasic Four ultimately underwhelmed.

Thankfully, this year, the MCU has the chance to redeem itself with two of the franchise’s biggest movies of the decade. First, scheduled for release on July 31, is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker prepares to face the consequences of his existence being wiped from the minds of the world at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Then, on December 18, released on the same day as Dune: Part Three, the biggest MCU event since Endgame arrives in the form of Avengers: Doomsday, which is being described as a “complete reinvention” of the franchise by directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

As time ticks closer to the release of the next MCU entry, the franchise’s many movies have been regularly appearing on the streaming charts. The latest to find its way into the top ten is perhaps the most surprising yet, given it’s one of the MCU’s sequels regularly cited as the most disappointing. However, many now believe in retrospect that Iron Man 2, the 2010 sequel to the film that started it all, is hugely underrated, perhaps hinting at why it’s currently one of the ten most-streamed movies on Disney+ in the U.S. Directed by Jon Favreau, the movie marked the MCU debuts of Scarlett Johansson‘s Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) and Don Cheadle‘s James Rhodes.

Queens, New York

🕷️ Spider-Man

You carry the weight of the world on shoulders that are younger than they should have to be — funny, loyal, and endlessly self-sacrificing.

  • You do the right thing not because it’s easy, but because no one else will.
  • You understand that responsibility isn’t a burden you choose — it’s one that finds you.
  • Whether it’s a neighbourhood mugging or a multiverse crisis, you show up.
  • Peter Parker’s lesson — that great power demands great responsibility — isn’t a slogan to you. It’s the code you live by, even when it costs you everything.

Hell’s Kitchen, New York

😈 Daredevil

You fight in the shadows between law and chaos, guided by a fierce moral compass that refuses to let the guilty walk free.

  • You use every tool available — your mind, your body, your faith — to protect those the system overlooks.
  • You’ve looked into the darkness and chosen not to become it, though the line has never been easy.
  • Matt Murdock’s duality — champion in the courtroom, devil in the alley — mirrors your own.
  • Relentless, conflicted, and unwilling to stop. That is exactly you.

Stark Industries, Malibu

🤖 Iron Man

Brilliant, driven, and occasionally insufferable — but always the person who solves the unsolvable problem.

  • You lead with your mind and back it up with resources, innovation, and a stubbornness that borders on heroic.
  • You started out looking out for yourself, but somewhere along the way the world became your responsibility.
  • Tony Stark’s arc — from ego to sacrifice — is your arc too.
  • You build, you plan, and when the moment comes, you’re willing to give everything. Because in the end, you’re Iron Man.

New York City

💀 The Punisher

You’ve been through fire that would break most people — and it did change you, completely. What’s left is unyielding, relentless, and operating by a code forged in grief.

  • You don’t ask for forgiveness, and you don’t expect gratitude.
  • You see a corrupt, broken world and you’ve decided to do something about it, consequences be damned.
  • Frank Castle’s war is born from love twisted by loss — and so is yours.
  • Uncompromising and unflinching — the world may not agree with your methods, but your conviction is absolute.

Asgard · Protector of the Nine Realms

⚡ Thor
Advertisement

Powerful, proud, and on a lifelong journey to become worthy of the legend you carry.

  • You lead with strength but have learned — sometimes painfully — that true greatness comes from humility and growth.
  • You’re larger than life, yet more vulnerable than you let on.
  • Thor’s story is one of transformation: from arrogant prince to worthy king, from isolated warrior to beloved protector.
  • You bring the storm when it’s needed — and the warmth when it matters just as much.

Brooklyn, New York · The Avengers

🛡️ Captain America

You believe in something bigger than yourself — and you fight for it even when the world has moved on and nobody else will.

  • You don’t bully the small guy, and you never stop when it gets hard.
  • Steve Rogers didn’t become a hero when he got the serum — he was always one. So were you.
  • Your strength isn’t in your fists; it’s in your refusal to compromise what’s right, no matter the cost.
  • In a world full of people taking the easy road, you’re the one who picks up the shield and stands up — every single time.

How Did ‘Iron Man 2’ Perform at the Box Office?

Following the $584 million haul of its predecessor, Iron Man 2 had a lot to live up to. Thankfully, the early hunger for more MCU was obvious, as Iron Man 2 flew to a global haul of $621 million at the box office. Split between $312 million in domestic revenue and a further $308 million from overseas markets, the movie earned enough to become the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2010.

Iron Man 2 is available to stream on Disney+. Stay tuned to Collider for more of the latest streaming stories.

Jennifer Lopez Criticized for ‘New Yorker’ Comments

Jennifer Lopez Says She Fought for Latinas in Hollywood

Jennifer Lopez has a hot take about life in the Big Apple.

“You have to be born in New York to be a New Yorker,” Lopez, 56, said during a Thursday, June 4, interview on the “Subway Takes” TikTok account. “Yes, I know everybody wants to claim the city.”

She continued, “Everybody wants to claim our city, but you have to be born in New York. You have to be born in one of the five boroughs to be a New Yorker.”

Lopez, affectionately known as “Jenny from the block,” was born and raised in the New York borough of the Bronx.

Jennifer Lopez is opening up about fighting Latina stereotypes during the early days of her career. “There’s so many different people living their stories [in America],” Lopez, 55, said during the Thursday, November 28, episode of the “Variety Awards Circuit” podcast. “That was always my goal as an actor, as a producer, was to kind […]

“Subway Takes” host Kareem Rahma, however, countered that he was told NYC residents can claim the city after a decade.

“When I moved here in 2012, everyone was like, ‘In 10 years, you can call yourself a New Yorker,’” Rahma, 39, pointed out in rebuttal. “Then, I stayed 10 years. … The New Yorkers used to have this as a rule.”

Lopez argued that she never heard about such a “rule.”

“That’s a rule? I didn’t get the memo,” she stated. “I did not sign the petition. … You live in New York, you take on characteristics of New Yorkers, probably, by [50 years here], you have a New York sensibility, you pay New York taxes, [but] when you’re born in New York, that’s when you’re a New Yorker.”

The Office Romance actress added, “I said what I said, and I meant it.”

Lopez’s position soon raised eyebrows from social media users.

“Ma’am you have lived outside of New York longer than you lived in it,” one TikTok commenter replied, referring to Lopez’s current residence in Los Angeles, as another chimed in, “Coming from J. Lo is kind of hilarious.”

Other social media users agreed with Rahma that a 10-year residency qualifies as “New Yorker” status.

“Carrie Bradshaw made this claim, 10 years qualifies as a New Yorker,” a TikToker wrote, referring to the Sex and the City protagonist. “I got 40 years in this town. I’m a New Yorker.”

A fourth noted, “I think if you lived in NY for [the]majority of your life you’re a New Yorker.”

Lopez, meanwhile, was backed up by a handful of supporters.

“You guys says ‘Coming from J. Lo…’ but shorty is literally from The Bronx,” a social media user replied, with another succinctly noting, “She’s right though.”

Lopez has not publicly addressed the backlash. Us Weekly has reached out for comment.

8 Great New Movies I’m Dying to Watch in 2026

Published

on

Josh O'Connor and Emily Blunt in Disclosure Day

2025 was a surprisingly mixed year for movies.

While the box office increased slightly from 2024’s total, several high-profile movies, like Marvel’s Thunderbolts and Paramount’s The Running Man, underperformed. There’s a reason for that — they weren’t as good as many people, including myself, expected them to be.

2026 promises to be different.

Project Hail Mary, Michael, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Obsession and Backrooms have brought audiences back to the multiplex — and most of these films are actually good.

With new films from directors like Christopher Nolan and Steven Spielberg and some fan-favorite sequels like Dune: Part Three in the pipeline, 2026 has plenty of movies I’m looking forward to watching in a crowded theater.

‘Disclosure Day’ (June 12)

Watch the Skies was the original title of Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi masterpiece, 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and it’s a perfect title for the director’s upcoming extraterrestrial movie, Disclosure Day. Little is known about the movie except what the teaser trailer, well, teases — humanity’s first contact with an unknown alien species, and the questions that are inevitably asked when such an event happens. Are they friend or foe? And what exactly do they want?

Steven Spielberg is returning to the science fiction genre with his mysterious project Disclosure Day. The Devil Wears Prada 2’s Emily Blunt and Wake Up Dead Man star Josh O’Connor lead Disclosure Day as two seemingly ordinary people who become central figures in the first direct communication between humanity and an alien race. “I’ve always […]

Starring Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor and Colman Domingo, Disclosure Day feels like a summer blockbuster from years past. In this case, that’s a good thing, with a masterful director behind the camera, a sure-to-be thought-provoking script by Jurassic Park’s David Koepp and a majestic score by frequent Spielberg collaborator John Williams. After watching the trailer, I felt the same chills I had when I first watched Spielberg’s modern sci-fi classic, Minority Report. If Disclosure Day is half as good as that Tom Cruise banger, we’re in for a treat.

‘Supergirl’ (June 26)

Milly Alcock in Supergirl

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s … an alien teenager with a drinking problem? Just one year after James Gunn‘s successful Superman reboot with David Corenswet, the DCEU goes back to Krypton for its second feature, Supergirl. Loosely based on Tom King and Bilquis Elvey’s acclaimed DC comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Supergirl follows Kal-El’s cousin, Kara Zor-El (Milly Alcock), as she stumbles around the galaxy with her loyal dog, Krypto. Along the way, she’s recruited by a young girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), to avenge her father’s murder by the villain Krem (Matthias Schoenaerts).

Can Supergirl match Superman’s box office success? Probably not, but the spinoff looks to be a wilder and more fun take on the superhero genre. As she showed in House of the Dragon season 1, Alcock is at home playing complicated female characters who pack a mean punch, and the addition of Jason Momoa as the violent antihero Lobo makes Supergirl the comic book movie to look forward to in the summer.

‘The Odyssey’ (July 17)

Never bet against Christopher Nolan. The Inception and Dunkirk director has long defied convention and expectations in his impressive career, with his last movie making almost a billion dollars worldwide even though it was a nearly three-hour biopic about the father of the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer ended up winning seven Oscars in 2023, and Nolan’s latest movie, a big-budget adaptation of the Greek tale The Odyssey, promises to win some awards of its own, in addition to probably becoming one of 2026’s biggest blockbusters.

The $250 million epic chronicles the long, strange journey of Odysseus (Matt Damon) as he makes his way from after barely surviving the Trojan War. Determined to reunite with his wife, Penelope (Anne Hathaway), Odysseus must battle a dangerous cyclops, deceptively alluring sea sirens and the witch Circe (Charlize Theron) to find his way home.

Related: What to Know About Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’: Cast, Release Date

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026. The film is adapted from Homer’s Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic about Odysseus returning home following the Trojan War. John Leguizamo, who was cast in the film, said that despite the hype and budget surrounding the production, […]

The Odyssey has been told countless times before, but never on this scale. With a cast that also includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, John Leguizamo and Mia Goth, the movie has almost as many stars as the night sky Odysseus travels under. The just-released teaser trailer promises epic action set pieces and a moving love story. If Oppenheimer can pack them into the multiplexes, surely The Odyssey can, too.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ (July 31)

Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

When we last saw Tom Holland’s lovable wall-crawler, he was still recovering from Aunt May’s (Marisa Tomei) death and adjusting to a new life where no one, not even girlfriend MJ (Zendaya), knows he exists thanks to a convenient mind-wipe from Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

The little we know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day is this: Spidey is still slinging solo until some event triggers a team-up of sorts with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. MJ and Jacob Batalon’s Ned return in some capacity, and Sadie Sink joins the cast as a yet-to-be-revealed character. (Some say she’s playing a new version of the X-Men’s Jean Grey, while others insist she’s playing Rachel Summers, Jean’s adult daughter from a future timeline.) In addition, Spidey will battle new-to-the-MCU villain Tombstone (Marvin Jones III) as well as the Scorpion (Michael Mando), who appeared briefly in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.

That’s all that’s currently known about the top-secret project as of press time. As the MCU movie before Avengers: Doomsday, it’s reasonable to expect it will set up that film in some capacity. Even if it doesn’t, who cares? Holland’s always killed it as Spidey, and this fourth film in Sony’s reboot series sounds like a blast.

‘The Social Reckoning’ (October 9)

Jeremy Strong Top Choice to Replace Jesse Eisenberg in Social Network 2
Merrick Morton/©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection

When it was released in 2010, writer Aaron Sorkin and director David Fincher’s The Social Network was a critical and commercial hit. A pseudo-biography about Mark Zuckerberg and the origins of Facebook, it captured a key moment in time when social media was just starting to take over everyone’s lives.

A lot’s changed since then, enough for Sorkin, sans Fincher, to return to write and direct a follow-up, The Social Reckoning. Based in part on the real-life 2021 Facebook whistleblower leaks, the movie promises to show the damaging effects of Facebook on society, specifically how misinformation led to events such as the January 6 Capitol riots. With a cast that includes recent Oscar winner Mikey Madison, The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong, The Social Reckoning promises to be the most talked-about movie of the year and a surefire contender at the 2027 Academy Awards.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ (December 18)

Is there any magic left in the Marvel machine? That’s the big question Avengers: Doomsday hopes to answer with a resounding and definitive “Yes!” Marvel’s throwing everything at this latest Avengers sequel, the first since the massively successful Avengers: Endgame in 2019, by bringing back its OG star, Robert Downey Jr. But instead of playing Iron Man, he’s playing another character this time – the evil Doctor Doom, who wants to conquer, well, everything.

Doomsday is coming — luckily, Marvel has assembled a star-studded lineup for Avengers 5, which is now in production. Robert Downey Jr.‘s return was announced last year, but instead of playing Iron Man/Tony Stark, he’ll play the evil Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday will reunite the actor with some familiar faces as well as some newbies, […]

It will take more than one team of Avengers to stop him, which is why heroes from various timelines and dimensions, from the X-Men’s Prof. X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellan) and Cyclops (James Marsden) to the recently introduced Fantastic Four, are banding together to counter Doom’s threat. Also appearing are Avengers founding members Captain America (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), the new Black Panther (Letitia Wright), the Thunderbolts and many, many more.

After recent Marvel movies like Captain America: Brave New World and shows like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law failed to light the world on fire, a lot is riding on Doomsday to breathe new life into the tiring superhero genre. Even if the story falls short, it’ll be fun to see the X-Men fight side-by-side with the Avengers for the first time.

‘Dune: Part Three’ (December 18)

Zendaya in Dune: Part Three

Zendaya in Dune: Part Three.
Warner Bros. / Courtesy Everett Collection

It’s safe to say that 2021’s Dune and 2024’s Dune: Part Two are two of the best modern sci-fi movies ever made. The critically acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel won a bunch of Oscars and a legion of fans, so it’s only natural that another movie would be made to cash in on the success of the previous two.

Based on Herbert’s divisive novel Dune: Messiah, Dune: Part Three takes place years after the last chapter ended. Paul (Timothée Chalamet) is now the Padishah Emperor and father to two children. The long-dead Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa) is somehow alive again, and Paul’s young sister, Alia (Anya Taylor-Joy), last seen as a sentient embryo in Part Two, is now fully grown. Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson return, as well as director Denis Villeneuve, who has promised this is the last Dune sequel he’ll be involved in. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for his farewell to a far-out universe filled with massive sandworms, albino gladiators and, of course, spice.

‘Werwulf’ (December 25)

On Christmas 2024, director Robert Eggers delivered a most unusual gift to moviegoers – the vampire horror movie, Nosferatu. An unexpected hit, Nosferatu exploited an untapped market for dimly-lit period movies depicting all sorts of dangerous creatures lurking in the night. This Christmas, Eggers promises more of the same with his new film, Werwulf, which swaps out vampires for, you guessed it, werewolves.

Not much is known about the plot except that it takes place in 13th-century England and focuses on a small village being terrorized by a murderous lycanthrope. Most of the cast of Nosferatu, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe, return for Werwulf, as well as longtime Eggers’ collaborators, cinematographer Jarin Blaschke and writer Sjon. I’m hoping Werwulf can conjure the same magic that Nosferatu cast on me and millions of other moviegoers and give all of us some relief from those endless repeats of Home Alone during the holidays.
