Jeff Sneider Calls Ceasefire With Inde Navarrette

Jeff Sneider has backed down from his threat to subject Inde Navarrette to “nonstop rumors” after her representatives seemingly ignored him.

Although the entertainment journalist issued a statement apologizing to the Obsession star and admitted that his emotions got the better of him, he also hit back at critics who allegedly sent him death threats.

Navarrette has yet to respond, but she previously revealed that she limits what she exposes herself to online to protect herself.

Jeff Sneider has publicly apologized to rising actress Inde Navarrette after making inflammatory comments online, admitting that his “ego got the best of” him and that he “went overboard with my victory celebration.”

“Tired of the noise so I’ll delete and apologize, as per protocol,” Sneider wrote on X just after midnight on Saturday, September 5. “I am sorry to Ms. Navarrette, who was and will continue to be treated fairly, despite previous comments suggesting otherwise.”

The reporter added that the actress “got swept up in a long-running feud” before declaring that he would continue doing whatever it takes to “publish the truth” about Hollywood.

The controversy began when Sneider expressed frustration over being ignored by Navarrette’s representatives after apparently trying to contact them.

According to PinkNews, he warned that he could either be a “useful friend” to them or go public with “literally everything I hear about her,” especially since he planned to cover her “for a long time.”

He faced massive online criticism as netizens accused him of whining, but he doubled down, saying his remark was meant as a threat, not a complaint.

“Complaining? I wasn’t complaining. That was a threat!” he said. “Engage, or don’t, and be subjected to nonstop rumors.”

The blogger also said he would “love to continue being ignored,” mainly because it let him do whatever he pleased, which he claimed had “proven to be very lucrative for me.”

Meanwhile, Sneider also used his apology note to hit back at critics who he claimed sent him death threats.

Revealing that some of the messages he received were “absolutely crazy,” he told his critics to “take a long, hard look in the mirror, because you’re way worse than I could ever be.”

“I don’t send execs death threats or anti-Semitic comments or any of the crazy sh-t I’ve been sent,” he wrote. “This app is nuts, but I’ll never leave, because we deserve each other. You’re stuck with me. And so is Hollywood.”

Sneider stated that he planned to use the holidays to reflect, hoping it would guide him toward a “kinder and gentler” path.

His antics have seemingly opened Pandora’s box, as moderators of Reddit’s Marvel Studios community announced that they had permanently banned him as a source for rumors and leaks.

The community said the decision came after his “actions and threats” involving the harassment of other stakeholders, including fellow community members and actors.

This was not the first time Sneider had been involved in such controversy. He was fired from Variety in 2013 over what a source described as “unprofessional” behavior, per TheWrap.

However, another source claimed he was dismissed after tweeting that his blood “will be on Hollywood’s hands” following his loss of a scoop about Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar to The Hollywood Reporter editor-at-large Kim Masters.

Sneider was also involved in a minor tiff with Sydney Sweeney in 2024 after reporting that she would star alongside Johnny Depp in Day Drinker. The Euphoria actress’s publicist pushed back, saying people sometimes “make stuff up,” but Sneider described the response as a “non-denial.”

Meanwhile, Navarrette has seemingly taken steps to ensure she doesn’t see most of the negative comments posted about her online.

Amid a barrage of positive reactions to her performance in Obsession, she told People that she and her mother had been “limiting the amount of things that I’m allowed to see just for right now.”

She further explained that the main reason was that her career was only beginning to blossom, and she wanted “to make sure that I’m protecting myself first.”

The 13 Reasons Why alum added that she does not see anything on social media “unless it’s being sent to me by a family member or my team.”

“And then also just whatever I get in person, then it allows me to physically see that person, receive what they’re saying, and to say ‘thank you’ to them directly,” she added.
