Jeremy Allen White’s New Indie Movie Goes From Theatrical Bust to an Instant Streaming Hit

Jeremy Allen White’s latest big-screen swing is having the second life most indie dramas only dream about. Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, a 20th-century musician biopic released October 22, 2025, and follows Bruce Springsteen as a young artist on the edge of superstardom, is currently trending on Hulu, iTunes, and Disney+.

In the United States, the film climbed Hulu’s Top 10, moving from No. 2 on January 24 to No. 1 yesterday and holding No. 1 today. It’s not just a one-country blip, either. On Disney+, it’s also in the Top 10 across multiple markets, including No. 1 today in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Sweden. It’s staying high in bigger territories as well, with the UK at No. 2 today and Spain at No. 3, while Germany remains in the mix at No. 6. Digital sales show a pulse too: It hit the iTunes Top 10 in Namibia (No. 2 on January 20, No. 3 on January 24).

This also reframes the movie’s conversation away from opening-week optics and toward what matters for a biopic: watchability, performances, and word of mouth. White is supported by a stacked cast that includes Jeremy Strong and Paul Walter Hauser, with Scott Cooper serving at the helm. If you skipped it before, the charts are telling you it’s worth the catch-up now.

‘Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’ Underperformed at the Box Office

Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere had a wide release but a muted theatrical run. In North America, it opened to about $9.1 million from 3,460 theaters and debuted at No. 4, while it added about $7 million overseas for a $16.1 million global start. Audience reaction was solid but not rave (reported as a B+ CinemaScore), which fits what happened next: It did not break out beyond the core crowd. It ultimately ended at $22.64 million domestically, and internationally it added about $22.3 million, putting the worldwide box office around $44.9 to $45.2 million depending on the tracker. Its production budget, however, is reported to be $55 million, which is why it was widely labeled a theatrical underperformer.

However, the current come-up on streaming seems to be working in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere’s favor. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
