Jessi Draper Blindsided As Husband Jordan Ngatikaura Files For Divorce

Will MomTok survive all that’s happened in just the past week?

The cast of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” seem to be working overtime in the drama department lately. Shortly after season 4 was released, and just before the new season of “The Bachelorette” was about to begin, Taylor Frankie Paul‘s life turned upside. News of Mikayla Matthews and her husband Jace Terry’s separation have fans talking. And now add one more shocking moment to the list – Jessi Draper‘s husband, Jordan Ngatikaura has filed for divorce.

Did we mention that Jordan filed for divorce the same day ABC cancelled season 22 of “The Bachelorette,” sending MomTok fans into a frenzy of information, speculation, and chatter?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jordan filed for divorce in a Provo, Utah district court on Thursday, March 19, which just happens to be the same day ABC decided to cancel the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette” starring Taylor Frankie Paul, Jessi’s “Mormon Wives” castmate.

“This has not been an easy decision and it comes with a heavy heart. I’m grateful for the shared memories and the lessons,” Jordan told Entertainment Weekly. “While our paths are now moving in different directions, my priority remains my children and ensuring they feel loved, supported, and protected through this transition.”

The couple, married for five years, share two children, son Jagger Zayn, 5, and daughter Jovi, 3. Jordan also has a daughter from a previous relationship.

While this is likely not a surprise to “Mormon Wives” fans as they watched the married endure some tough times, including a 90-day separation, the timing might be the most shocking part.

Not Long Before Jordan Filed For Divorce, Jessi Said They Were ‘Taking It Day By Day’

During an interview with Cosmopolitan just before the season 4 premiere, Jessi said the couple was “in a lot of therapy” and were “taking it day by day.”

Fans may have noticed that a while back, Jessi changed her name on her social media accounts from Jessi Ngatikaura to Jessi Draper, her maiden name, sparking conversations about just where the two actually stand with their relationship off camera.

In a scene during season 4, Jessi and Jordan have that discussion, and Jordan absolutely didn’t seem to like it.

According to Jessi, she changed her name for her “career” because Ngatikuara “is such a hard name to pronounce, and it just didn’t make sense” for her “public career.”

“But there was a part of me, too, that was like, ‘Things [with Jordan] are rocky, and if it goes this way, at least people already know me as Draper,’” she said.

Many Fans Are Shocked That Jordan Filed For Divorce And Not Jessi

Anyone who watches the hit Hulu reality show is probably wondering how it was Jordan that filed for divorce and not Jessi. Viral TikToker @stephwithdadeets, who covers “Mormon Wives” news and has even been featured on the show for her coverage, recently shared a TikTok video talking about it.

“I’m sorry, Jordan filed for divorce?” she began her video. “Self-proclaimed DadTok leader? Like, you’ve got to be kidding me. I’m gonna be really honest guys, I wanted them to divorce, I say that with the most respect, I guess you can say. I’m not saying it to be mean, but it was so clear that these two, it wasn’t going anywhere, but I definitely wanted Jessi to be filing.”

She brought up the fact that Jordan chose “right now” to file for divorce, amid “all the other headlines.” She also said she’s curious as to what’s going to happen with the prenup that Jessi talked about during an episode of season 4, where she said it’s not valid and she’s scared he’s going to get half of all she’s earned.

Talk About The Prenup Dominates The Comment Section

Viewers had a lot to say in the comments about the prenup situation.

“He saw all the things she said about the prenup and divorce in season 4 and ran to do this praying Jessi hadn’t figured out how to make the prenup stand,” one person wrote. Another added, “Anyone else think this is because he saw what was said in season 4 about the prenup regardless though, Jessi will be better off.” And one other said, “Tell me you watched the prenup episode without telling me, Jordan.”

Steph ended her video talking about many fans’ hatred for DadTok.

“You know what’s annoying to me, it’s like DadTok right now has the power, it seems like,” she said. “And that just annoys me cause I am annoyed by DadTok in general.”

Speaking Of DadTok…

The topic of DadTok has been keeping fans busy complaining, as it seems not many are enjoying their content or extra time on the show.

Jessi recently shared a joking video on TikTok about DadTok’s presence on the show and fans didn’t hesitate to share their thoughts in the comment section.

Secret Lives on Hulu wrote, “MomTok’s everything. DadTok’s just… Ken.” Another account wrote, “What about replacing it with DogTok?”

One viewer said, “Only watched the first episode and they’re already too much.” And one other added, “Please tell producers (yourselves?) no more DadTok. it’s too much.”

5 Years After His MCU Movie Debut, Charlie Cox Addresses Those Spider-Man and Avengers Rumors

Published

on

daredevil-born-again-poster.jpg

Fans love Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, right from the time when Netflix first began the Defenders Saga — the interconnected shows of iconic Marvel heroes like The Punisher, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and more. When the flagship Cox-led series was cancelled after a third season, the love for the devil of Hell’s Kitchen was at its peak, with many rallying on the internet to “Save Daredevil.”

And saved Daredevil they did, as Cox officially made his MCU movie debut with Spider-Man: No Way Home a few years later. Marvel has always been brilliant with fan service, and Cox’s addition to the universe with a standalone series, Daredevil: Born Again, was a masterstroke, as it was the first few credible series taking the studio out of the creative slump it was facing on Disney+. The series became an instant hit with longtime fans as they got to see Matt, Karen (Deborah Ann Woll), and Foggy (Elden Henson) back on the screen, albeit momentarily. And another season is on the way, with Season 2 set to debut in less than a week.

So, where will we see Cox’s Daredevil again? Jimmy Kimmel shared the same curiosity and asked Cox when they recently sat down to chat during Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kimmel asked Cox about his rumored appearance in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, shortly after a trailer was recently released that features Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. “No. Now, if I were in the movie, I would also say no, to be clear. Right. But I’m not in the movie,” Cox admitted. “I’m definitely not in the movie,” before conceding, “But I could be lying.”

Cox voiced the typical Marvel actors’ concern, where they can neither confirm or deny their presence in any upcoming projects. But Kimmel wasn’t letting him off the hook so easily and asked whether fans will see Cox in the upcoming superhero mashup, Avengers: Doomsday. “I don’t think so. No… as far as I know, I’m not in the Avengers,” Cox stated, adding that “I sit by the phone waiting with bated breath,” which seemed like a more genuine answer, but it’s anyone’s guess.

Charlie Cox is Returning with ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2

But fans need not to worry as Cox will soon return to our screens with the highly anticipated second season of Born Again. The series will bring back a lot of familiar faces like Ann Woll as Karen, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Wilson Bethel as Bullseye, while Krysten Ritter joins the cast, reprising Jessica Jones.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 debuts on March 24. Meanwhile, you can check out the first season of Disney+. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.

5 Best Streaming Thrillers, Ranked by RT Score (March 2026)

Published

on

If the Watch With Us team had to pick our favorite movie genre, it would probably be thrillers.

We just can’t get enough of hard-boiled noirs, riveting mysteries, deranged psychological thrillers and action-packed crime dramas.

Thankfully, you can find all these kinds of movies and more on streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu and Prime Video.

This March, Watch With Us wants to highlight the five best thrillers you can watch on streaming right now — we also ranked them by Rotten Tomatoes score, just for fun.

Our picks include the Liam Neeson thriller Taken and the neo-noir classic L.A. Confidential.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 60 percent

Retired CIA officer Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) attempts to build a closer relationship with his teenage daughter Kim (Maggie Grace), taking her to a concert where he oversees security and ends up protecting the pop star Sheerah (Holly Valance) from a knife attack. When Sheerah offers to give Kim vocal lessons, Bryan’s “good dad card” seems to be building points, but when he allows Kim to travel to Paris with her friend (Katie Cassidy), both girls are abducted by a group of men. Bryan warns them that he will resort to deadly methods if the kidnappers don’t comply, but they ignore his warning. That was their first mistake.

Taken is the film that kick-started Neeson’s foray into “action dad” cinema, but it’s this first film that is easily the best of the bunch. With “I have a very particular set of skills” becoming an iconic quote in the movie lexicon, Taken is a fun and slick action thriller that still packs a decent punch in 2026.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 85 percent

A hitman known as the Killer (Michael Fassbender) is a meticulous and highly detailed professional, priding himself on his strict routine and deadly accuracy. When he stakes out a Parisian hotel for the wealthy target (Arliss Howard), he ends up missing his shot and accidentally shoots the target’s dominatrix (Monique Ganderton) instead. How could this hit have gone so wrong? Suddenly questioning his own mind and now hunted down by his handlers, he finds himself embarking on an epic quest for vengeance when his girlfriend, Magdala (Sophie Charlotte), is implicated in his folly.

Director David Fincher‘s welcome return to feature film is as taut, tense and efficient as its lead character. Fassbender portrays the titular Killer with suave intensity and a samurai mindset, and Fincher infuses the lean, mean thriller with a calculated iciness that cuts to the bone. The hitman subgenre of crime movies is hugely overstuffed, and Fincher’s iteration manages to take familiar tropes and give them a refreshing style and simplicity.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 88 percent

In a run-down Philadelphia hotel, gangster Nicky Godolin (John Cassavetes) phones his best friend Mikey Mittner (Peter Falk), a fellow gangster, in desperate need of help. When Mikey arrives, he finds Nicky in a dire state, where he explains that there’s a hit out on him for stealing from his boss, mobster Dave Resnick (Sanford Meisner). Mikey tries to console his friend and help him get it together, and the two end up setting out on an all-night odyssey through the city as Nicky becomes increasingly unhinged and terrified for his life.

Mikey and Nicky is hands-down the best “tragic bromance” movie of all time, a tour de force directing and acting triumph by way of filmmaker Elaine May and her stars, the legendary Cassavetes and Falk (also friends in real life). Mirroring the intensity and spontaneity of Cassavetes’ own filmmaking style, May directs the film with a frenzied, emotional bravura that underscores the script’s preoccupations with the folly of masculinity. Fans of Uncut Gems would do well to check this one out.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 95 percent

In the 1980s, two mediocre police detectives named Park (Song Kang-ho) and Cho (Kim Roi-ha) are assigned to a double homicide case, but they have no idea that the crime they’re about to investigate marks the emergence of the first serial killer in South Korean history. When the perpetrator ends up striking several more times, evoking the same patterns and hallmarks, the detectives are stumped, unnerved and understand they are dealing with something they’ve never seen before. With only the basic tools and skills available to them, Park and Cho set out to arrest the twisted killer.

Based on the real-life case of Lee Choon-jae, Memories of Murder is a quiet masterpiece from Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho‘s repertoire; less flashy than films like Snowpiercer or the Best Picture-winning Parasite, but no less a riveting and expertly crafted work of art. Bearing an uncanny similarity to Fincher’s Zodiac (Memories actually predates the latter by four years), the movie is an effective crime procedural with singular directorial command and a compelling, serpentine narrative.

Rotten Tomatoes score: 99 percent

Following decades of publicized corruption, the LAPD tries to rehabilitate its image in 1953, with three very different detectives attempting to unspool the conspiracy at the center of a string of murders at an all-night diner. Detective Lieutenant Edmund Exley (Guy Pearce) is still living in the shadow of his highly respected detective father, whose murder years ago remains unsolved. Detective Sergeant Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey) is a clout-seeker who regularly feeds information to the tabloids. Meanwhile, the erratic Wendell White (Russell Crowe) uses highly unorthodox methods to get confessions out of suspects due to his traumatic past.

February may be more closely associated with romance, but a great thriller movie is never going to be out of season. From among those flicks, Watch With Us has chosen five thriller movie masterpieces that you […]

L.A. Confidential is much more than an homage to classic film noirs, as its preoccupations with the interiority of its characters betray a richness in psychology that many of the great noirs have sorely lacked. In addition to the film’s dense thematic interests, it’s also a brilliantly acted yarn that proved that then-little-known actors Pearce and Crowe were movie star material. Atmospheric, textured, complex and still highly entertaining, L.A. Confidential is studio filmmaking at its smartest.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Face Renewed Scrutiny In Hollywood

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing renewed scrutiny in Hollywood following shifts in their partnership with Netflix.

While experts question their long-term influence and consistency, the couple is also pushing back against claims of tension.

Prince Harry and Meghan denied reports that Netflix was blindsided by their independent projects, and maintained that their deal has remained structured and professionally managed.

Just months after extending their partnership with Netflix through a first-look deal under Archewell Productions, the streaming giant stepped back from Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever.

While Netflix has maintained a supportive tone, saying Meghan will continue to grow the brand “independently,” the move has sparked fresh debate about the strength of the duchess’s business ventures and the couple’s long-term positioning in the entertainment industry.

Industry voices suggest the issue may come down to consistency. In a chat with Fox News Digital, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield noted that “high-value partnerships” in Hollywood rely heavily on “execution, not just vision or vibes.”

According to her, while public interest can open doors, maintaining relevance requires delivering content that performs across different formats.

Without that, even globally recognized figures can lose their edge in a highly competitive space. “There’s a difference between infamy and influence, and I think Harry and Meghan fall under infamous,” she added.

Expert Questions The Sussexes’ Appeal As Netflix Deal Shifts

Harry and Meghan initially signed a reported $100 million deal with Netflix in 2020, producing projects like “Harry & Meghan,” “Live to Lead,” “Heart of Invictus,” and “Polo.”

By 2025, however, the partnership evolved into a first-look agreement rather than a full renewal, signaling a more flexible, yet potentially less committed arrangement.

Announcing their split from the Lifestyle brand, a spokesperson for Netflix said Meghan would continue growing the brand independently, and that the company was pleased to have helped bring her vision to life.

Still, some royal analysts remain skeptical. Hilary Fordwich suggested that audiences may be losing interest in what she described as “grievance-driven royal content,” adding that the couple is increasingly viewed as operating outside of the royal framework that once defined their appeal.

“Their track record of a failed brand is as bad as their plummeting poll numbers and dreadful viewership of each of their underwhelming failed ventures,” she said.

Launched in 2025, As Ever focuses on lifestyle and home goods, offering a curated selection of items including jams, teas, candles, and more.

The brand saw early demand, with its debut collection reportedly selling out quickly, though reactions to pricing and branding were mixed.

Its launch coincided with the release of Meghan’s Netflix series “With Love, Meghan,” which featured a mix of cooking, gardening, and hosting content alongside appearances from her celebrity circle.

While two seasons and a holiday special have been released, there has been no confirmation of future installments, with sources claiming that the show is likely not coming back for a third season.

Beyond output, experts also suggested that a bad strategy may be part of the problem for the Montecito-based royal couple.

Media producer John McDermott suggested that Harry and Meghan could benefit from a more restrained public presence.

Referencing Prince William and Kate Middleton, he noted that a balance of visibility and privacy can help maintain positive media coverage without overexposure.

“They feed the media just enough with a quick photo op of them pulling pints, throwing darts, petting a puppy, etc., and then they disappear again. It keeps the coverage positive without overexposing them,” he said of William and Kate. “For Harry and Meghan, there may be something in that. Show up, look good, keep it positive. Sometimes less really is more.”

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Deny ‘Variety’ Report, Insist Netflix Was Not Caught Off Guard

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan is pushing back against a report by Variety that their relationship with Netflix was strained by a lack of transparency, suggesting the streamer was caught off guard by some of their independent moves, including their widely discussed 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The interview took place while they were working on their docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” prompting claims that Netflix had concerns about communication, particularly regarding activities tied to Archewell.

While the report noted that no contractual rules were broken, it alleged there was unease behind the scenes.

The Sussexes’ representative, however, firmly rejected that narrative, calling it “categorically false” that Netflix was unaware of the Oprah interview.

They added that both “Netflix and Archewell had legal counsel involved to oversee the evolution of the deal, as is common practice for any deal changes in Hollywood.”

Where Are the K-Pop Pioneers Now?

Published

on

If you’ve ever lost hours falling down a BLACKPINK dance practice rabbit hole, screamed along to a BTS song, or watched PSY break the internet, you owe a debt to a trio of performers who changed everything about Korean music more than three decades ago. Their name? Seo Taiji and Boys. And their story — from groundbreaking debut to shocking disbandment to the lingering question of a reunion — is essential knowledge for anyone who considers themselves a true K-pop fan.

Seo Taiji and Boys: the Group That Rewrote the Rules

Seo Taiji and Boys was a South Korean music group active from 1992 to 1996, composed of three members: Seo Taiji, Yang Hyun-suk and Lee Juno. In just four years, this group fundamentally reshaped what Korean pop music could sound like, look like, and say.

The group experimented with multiple Western music genres and is credited with pioneering rap in Korean pop music — a move that essentially planted the seed for the hip-hop-infused sound that dominates K-pop playlists today. But their influence didn’t stop at the music itself. Seo Taiji and Boys also popularized dance in performances, including breakdancing, setting the template for the jaw-dropping choreography that modern K-pop is celebrated for worldwide.

Perhaps most boldly, the group incorporated social critique into their work despite pressure from ethics and censorship committees. In doing so, they pushed the boundaries of what Korean pop artists were expected — or even allowed — to express. They helped lay the foundation for modern K-pop, making them arguably the most consequential act in the genre’s history.

Seo Taiji and Boys Came to a Sudden End That Shocked Millions

For a group with such an enormous impact, their ending came abruptly. The band retired in January 1996 while recording their fourth album. The decision wasn’t a group consensus either — Lee Juno later stated that Seo Taiji made the decision to disband, surprising Yang Hyun-suk and himself.

The announcement disappointed millions of fans in Korea. Their compilation album, Goodbye Best Album, was released later that year, serving as a final farewell to an era that had reshaped an entire industry in less than half a decade.

Where Are Seo Taiji and Boys Now? They Are on 3 Very Different Paths

What happened after one of the most influential groups in Korean music history called it quits? Each member charted a dramatically different course — and one of those paths would directly create the K-pop powerhouse labels and artists fans know today.

Seo Taiji: ‘The President of Culture’

After disbandment, Seo Taiji moved to the United States and returned to music two years later, embarking on a successful solo career. He has released numerous albums and is referred to as “the President of culture” in South Korea — a title that reflects just how deeply his artistic legacy is woven into the country’s cultural identity.

The K-pop girl group TWICE has continued to dominate the music industry, both in Asia and around the world. The nine-member band, composed of singers Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu, has grown to become one of the best-selling artists in the genre — even before they rose to global popularity. […]

Yang Hyun-suk: The Architect Behind YG Entertainment

Here’s where the direct line between Seo Taiji and Boys and your current favorite K-pop acts becomes impossible to ignore. Yang Hyun-suk established YG Entertainment after the group retired — yes, that YG Entertainment. The record company responsible for acts like PSY, BLACKPINK, BIGBANG, 2NE1 and BABYMONSTER.

Think about that for a moment: one of the backup dancers and performers from a group active in the early ’90s went on to build the label behind some of the biggest names in global pop music. The choreography-forward, genre-blending, boundary-pushing DNA of Seo Taiji and Boys didn’t just influence K-pop from the outside — it was literally carried into the boardroom of one of the industry’s most powerful companies.

However, Yang’s tenure at the top of YG was not without serious controversy. Amid controversies including the Burning Sun scandal, Yang announced he would step down from all positions at YG Entertainment, and his brother Yang Min-suk resigned as CEO on June 14, 2019.

Yang Hyun-suk is married to former Swi.T and Moogadang member Lee Eun-ju, and they have two children.

Lee Juno: A Troubled Post-Group Chapter

Lee Juno’s path after Seo Taiji and Boys took a significantly darker turn. He worked as a producer after the group disbanded, creating the 1990s dance group Young Turks Club and releasing solo music. But his career was overshadowed by multiple legal issues, including sexual assault charges, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.

Lee was married to Park Mi-ri in 2012 and has two children.

The band […]

Will There Ever Be a Reunion?

This is the question that lingers for fans who understand just how monumental a Seo Taiji and Boys reunion would be. In 2014, Seo Taiji addressed the possibility head-on during an appearance on JTBC’s Newsroom, revealing that the three members had discussed it.

“The biggest obstacle is that in the past, we put on really beautiful performances, which fans remember, but if we get back together now, I worry we might disappoint, so I am not confident. I lack more and more confidence as I get older. I don’t think I’d be able to dance as fiercely as I had in the past.”

It’s a candid, vulnerable reflection — the kind of honesty that hits differently when you consider this is a man widely regarded as a cultural president speaking about his own self-doubt. The fear of not living up to past greatness is something any performer can relate to, and for Seo Taiji, that legacy looms especially large.

‘Mormon Wives’ Fans Are Conflicted By MomTok’s Take On The Situation

Viral social media content creator who goes by @stephwithdadeets shares tons of “Mormon Wives” updates. She recently shared a video on Instagram about the two MomTok members breaking their silence. It didn’t take long for fans to leave their thoughts on the situation in the comment section.

“They seem done. I feel like something else recently has happened that we still don’t know about,” one person wrote. Another shared, “What people are forgetting is they are not just speaking out about the old video- they’re also speaking in regards to the most recent incident that they know more about than we do… gives us a heads up that it is NOT good whatever happened.”

Another viewer said, “Guys, not only did her friends know about this… they probably know about countless situations that we have no idea about. I hope they help their friend get help because this definitely went both ways.” One other shared, “Why are y’all even commenting on this publicly if this is your friend? To basically go against her on your public platform is like?!?”

According to Page Six, another MomTok member shared a recent IG Story that appears to be targeted at Taylor’s situation.

“The bills are paid. My husband is hot. Our marriage is strong. The kids are happy & healthy,” Demi Engemann wrote in her since-deleted Story. “I feel so damn rich.”

She added, “My version of peace that no one could ever destroy no matter how hard some have tried. The best revenge truly is living well. I’ll die on that hill forever.”

A source told Page Six that Engemann’s post referred to something she shared on an episode of the “Disgraceful” podcast that released on Thursday.

Will MomTok Survive?

"The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives"
TikTok | Mayci Neeley

The question has been asked multiple times in much less dire situations and always had a hint of possibly not surviving as a group. But this time, answering if MomTok will survive takes on a whole new meaning.

With season 5 of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” on pause due to Taylor’s domestic violence allegations and the recently released video of her and Dakota that has fans gasping, MomTok surviving may be the least of all the concerns this group has.

In the last week alone, news has broken about Taylor’s domestic violence allegations, the new season of “The Bachelorette” starring Taylor being canceled just days before releasing, as well as Jordan Ngatikaura filing for divorce from Jessi Draper. Looming in the background is Mikayla Matthews health and marriage struggles and Layla’s eating disorder.

So the question will remain unanswered as of now. Will MomTok survive? We’ll just have to wait and see.

SYTYCD Winner Joshua Allen’s Cause of Death Revealed

Published

on

The cause of death for So You Think You Can Dance season 4 winner Joshua Allen has officially been revealed after he was struck by a train.

TMZ confirmed on Friday, March 20, that Allen died of blunt force injuries. His death was ruled a suicide by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The outlet broke the news in October 2025 that Allen had died at age 36. His family members asked for “privacy and prayers” as they grieved.

“He didn’t always do things the way that everybody thought he should, but that’s why he was a winner,” Emmanuel Hurd, a friend of the late dancer, told the outlet, noting that Allen was a “very honest, real person.”

After 16 successful seasons, Fox’s summer reality mainstay So You Think You Can Dance has continually launched several of its contestants into dance stardom. “Each season, the talent on So You Think You Can Dance reaches new levels and continues to create the most incredible routines,” Rob Wade, the network’s president of alternative entertainment and specials, said in a press […]

A relative later told TMZ that Allen was struck and killed by a train. He reportedly died in a hospital near his home in Texas one day prior.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, police responded to railroad tracks in late September 2025 near an intersection in south Fort Worth around 1 a.m. local time, where they found an unidentified man who was hit by a train. The victim was reportedly taken to a nearby medical facility.

Allen was only 18 when he competed on SYTYCD as a hip-hop dancer in 2008. He eventually took home the title of America’s Favorite Dancer over runner-up Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who died in 2022 at the age of 40.

“I took a few modern dance classes, ballet classes, because I felt that to be a better dancer I would have to take different classes, and, you know, expand my horizons in the art of dance,” Allen told Entertainment Weekly following his season 4 win. “I didn’t want to audition for the show not knowing anything. Dallas was [early in the audition process], and after I made it to Vegas — there were months before we actually went — I took as many classes as I could.”

Allen explained that while he “wasn’t that technically trained,” he would “try to take classes in the summer.”

When So You Think You Can Dance debuted on FOX in 2005, a panel of dance experts were tapped to discover the best up-and-coming performers. Nigel Lythgoe, who cocreated the competition series alongside Simon Fuller, served as one of the longtime judges since the season 1 premiere. However, after cueing the audition music and marveling […]

“When it was school time I would take class, run track, play football. I would always just train in the summer,” he said. “So it was never hard training. … I knew what it was, I knew what to do, but I wasn’t trained in it.”

Following his time on the dance competition show, Allen was featured in Step Up 3D in 2010 and the 2011 Footloose remake while continuing to attend national dance conventions. He also took on roles in various commercials and TV shows such as Community, Undateable and American Horror Story.

Years after his SYTYCD win, Allen revealed in a 2013 YouTube interview with Macy Jenkins that he kept “in contact” with the other dancers from the show.

“[We all] have monthly dinners and we all get up together, and just chill if it’s just going out to dinner or going to a theme park,” he said in the video. “Sometimes we work together during conventions, so we’re split apart but we’re never gone from each other. We always come back and reunite. We’ve always made promises when we got off the show, like, ‘We’re always going to keep staying in contact with each other.’”

Days of our Lives: JJ’s Emotional Breakdown After Shawn Gets Shot!?

Published

on

Days of Our Lives: JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) - Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer)

Days of Our Lives reveals detectives JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) and Shawn-Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer) had a near fatal encounter with Vivian Alamain’s (Louise Sorel) henchman Klaus Mueller (Bassel Alzaro) this week, and Liam Selejko (Hank Northrop) was about to be shot by Klaus when JJ showed up, but then the detective froze and nearly got them both killed.

Thankfully, Shawn showed up and saved the day. But it seems like JJ might be on the brink of a spiral. And I wonder if he’s going to hit the booze or pill bottle like he’s done in the past or something much more terrible that he’s done in the past when he was spiraling. We’re going to dive into what happens to JJ.

JJ Freezes During Shootout with Klaus on Days of Our Lives

So, we have JJ quite shell shocked. And now Shawn is gravely wounded, but the good news is he will be okay. He’s in the hospital after the run-in and double shooting with Klaus. So, good news is that Shawn seems to have finished off awful Klaus. We could soon see JJ spiraling after failing to protect his work partner and cousin, Shawn.

And JJ also just nearly stood there and allowed Liam to get shot in the standoff, too. I mean, he was injured, but not seriously. And honestly, I kind of felt this might have been coming given many of the hints they dropped during JJ and Theo Carver’s (Cameron Johnson) interactions and conversations over the last couple of months.

You know, JJ felt like he was in a good place in life. He was taking sensitivity training courses. He was going to counseling as part of his healing from the trauma of shooting Theo Carver years ago. And of course, he has since forgiven JJ and decided that he’s all right with him being on the force again. Theo, you know, brought that up.

JJ’s DOOL Past: Shooting Theo and Nearly Taking His Own Life

So, a little backstory for those who may not know, may not remember, maybe newer. About eight years ago, rookie cop JJ Deveraux shot Theo while he was fleeing a break-in scene in a hoodie. Theo had been hired to do some hacking. I think Cade had hired him, so he was out doing some shady stuff, but JJ fired. And Theo was clearly unarmed.

JJ was devastated when he saw that he had shot Theo. And back then after the shooting, JJ wound up on the brink of suicide. He even wrote goodbye letters to all of his loved ones, gave away all of his possessions. Not only that, but he broke up with his then girlfriend, Lani Price (Sal Stowers), because of all the guilt he was suffering.

And JJ was facing suspension and charges with the SPD. So, he just couldn’t take it anymore. Then JJ went and checked into a hotel on Christmas Eve 2017. And I guess that’s eight and a half, nine years ago. So he planned on intentionally overdosing himself.

Days of our Lives: Gabi Saves JJ

However, Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) just had this feeling, this gut feeling, a hunch that JJ needed help. And she got there in the nick of time and stopped him. And then Gabi stayed the night with JJ to keep him safe and was talking him through the deep depression and this rock bottom moment he was in. After that, things began to slowly get better for JJ.

Then Theo woke up from his coma. That was Christmas Day 2017, but he was paralyzed and there was a very long road to recovery for Theo. But he eventually learned to walk again. And he was at this specialized rehab center in Johannesburg, South Africa and Theo forgave JJ’s awful mistake and then you know he moved there and he and Theo became roommates and business partners in South Africa.

So, in recent months we had Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) bringing Theo home from South Africa to run DiMera Enterprises and he was stunned to find that JJ was back in Salem and had a job with the Salem PD again. And if you don’t remember, his girlfriend cheated and JJ was upset.

That’s why he came back to town before Theo. And Theo went and tried to get top cop Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) to fire JJ and was telling her stuff about the shooting. But Jada insisted that JJ was a good cop and he was taking the necessary classes and getting counseling to stay a police officer and do a good job at it.

JJ Had a PTSD Flashback During the Shootout on Days

And now Theo and JJ have finally reached a level of trust again, and they actually celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at the Brady Pub together drinking those green spritzers. But things took a turn when JJ came back to the pub. He had left something behind when he was sitting with Theo.

And that’s when JJ ran into Shawn and they were kind of catching up for a moment and then Shawn got a message that Klaus was spotted in the warehouse district. So, JJ and Shawn raced out of the Brady Pub, headed over to find the bad guy.

Meanwhile, Klaus had caught up with Liam and he had his gun out and Klaus was about to put a bullet in Liam’s head to tie up a loose end so he couldn’t implicate Vivian in the DiMera kidnappings.

But JJ got there first, right after, you know, Liam and Klaus got there and he stepped in front of Liam while Klaus was aiming at the guy. And then JJ just froze up. Then he was haunted by this flashback of the night he almost killed Theo while on duty. And that delay gave Klaus time to fire and a bullet grazed Liam’s arm.

Days of our Lives: Shawn Saves the Day

And then Shawn showed up and leaped in front of both of them, JJ and Liam, right as Klaus was getting ready to shoot a gun and Shawn and Klaus exchanged gunfire same time. Meanwhile, Liam took off running. He’s terrified, understandably, and both Klaus and Shawn were shot and JJ just stood there in disbelief and then he finally snapped out of it and called for help.

Thankfully, Days of Our Lives spoilers point to Shawn making it through. He and JJ are talking at the end of this week at University Hospital. And I wonder if JJ is gonna tell Shawn that it’s his fault he got shot because he froze up and he couldn’t do his duty.

Will JJ Spiral Again?

This turn of events could actually cost JJ everything all over again. JJ may be on leave along with Shawn while Jada has to investigate an officer involved shooting. The last time JJ discharged his firearm in the line of duty was the incident with Theo. And of course JJ almost committed suicide over all that. Now his cousin Shawn is lucky to be alive and JJ freezing up is definitely a contributing factor to his shooting.

And this time the guilt he feels is going to be different because JJ just did nothing. He didn’t shoot. He didn’t do what he’s supposed to do, what he’s trained to do. Three people wound up with bullet wounds. Liam with a very minor one, Shawn with one more serious, and Klaus who seems to be enjoying a dirt nap at this point.

Then we could see JJ turning to drinking or drugs over all this to start numbing the pain again. If you remember, JJ had a drug problem right out of high school. Plus, he isn’t in a relationship with anybody right now, so he’s lonely, and that means nobody’s there to see the warning signs. His parents are across the country. But thankfully, he is not living alone. And of course, the Gabi ship sailed a while ago when JJ suspected she shot EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).

Days of our Lives: Will Gabi Step in Again?

But maybe she’ll see these same warning signs. And hopefully Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) is going to keep a watchful eye on JJ because he’s family and he’s living in the Horton house. However, Julie’s pretty busy. So, you know, we’ll see.

And this could get awkward for JJ and Julie, especially since she’s tutoring Liam. And of course, we know that Theo isn’t thrilled that Liam’s around because that was his high school bully. To be fair, petty criminal Liam did apologize for his role in the DiMera kidnappings, which Theo got pulled into.

So, will JJ tell Shawn the truth that he had a PTSD flashback and just stood there and couldn’t do his job and that’s why Liam got shot and that’s why Shawn got shot? So, I wonder if Theo is going to be there to comfort JJ. I do think Theo is somebody that JJ might confide in.

And I also really hope JJ doesn’t spiral out. You know, maybe Gabi will see the signs and help him through or tell other people they need to help him. The new police drama may not be good for anybody involved, especially JJ Deveraux. But at least Shawn is going to survive.

Acting Like You Care Is As Important As The Real Thing

Acting Like You Care Is As Important As The Real Thing

By Robert Scucci
| Updated

It’s 2026 and everything sucks. The cost of living has gone up exponentially, and quality of life has dipped right along with it. Lines are longer, everything is automated, nobody’s paid enough to care, and I don’t blame them. When you’re stuck renting from people who treat the concept of a home as an investment opportunity, don’t have a lawn to call your own, and pay a third of your income in taxes before getting taxed again on every purchase, it’s really easy to stop caring. After all, what’s the point? The average person can’t get ahead, and when they do, some medical emergency or unexpected financial hurdle sets them back three years.

It’s really easy to not care. But here’s the counterpoint nobody tells you: it’s really easy to pretend that you do care. In fact, acting like you care is a skill you should always be fine-tuning because it will change everything for you.

From McDonald’s To The Corner Office

I rarely eat fast food anymore. The value just isn’t there, and getting the correct order feels like a coin toss. It’s a shame because fast food is supposed to be convenient and engineered to be delicious. I’d probably hit the drive-thru more often on a busy day if it wasn’t easier and cheaper to cook at home. Which is unfortunate, because there’s nothing better than a burger and fries after the day escapes you.

The last time I got McDonald’s, I was coming home from a gig, hadn’t eaten all day, and was dreaming about a Quarter Pounder like a cartoon character hallucinating a roasted turkey in the desert. I reached into the bag to do a quality check before leaving. My hand, the burger box, and the bag itself were soaked, like the whole thing had been dunked in a grease trap and served anyway. “No biggie, I’ll just go inside and get this fixed,” was my thought.

When I asked for new food that wasn’t drenched to the point of falling apart, the response I got was “that’s just the grease,” followed by blank stares. After about 10 minutes of trying to get my food and go home, my hangriness kicked in and I said, “I’m not asking you to give a sh*t, but could you at least pretend you do?” Which, honestly, is something we could all do better.

Mistakes happen. That’s fine. But the general sense of malaise I’m sensing, not just at McDonald’s but everywhere, is palpable. On one hand, I get it. The graveyard shift sucks, and I probably caught someone on an off day. But a simple “sorry about that, your concern is valid, we’ll fix it” goes a long way. Acting like you care costs nothing.

During my tenure as an office drone, I ran into high levels of not caring on a daily basis. So much so that when my fellow supervisors and I had to distribute annual performance bonuses, we often favored the employees who acted like they cared. They weren’t always killing it all the time, but they showed up, owned their mistakes, vowed to do better, and were generally pleasant to be around. The higher performers who outwardly didn’t care, on the other hand, brought everybody down with them because not caring in this kind of setting is rightfully contagious, making everybody else miserable and less productive in the process.

When I epically messed up an account thanks to my own carelessness, I’d hear the client out, explain what went wrong, and assure them safeguards would be put in place so it didn’t happen again.

The reality was I didn’t really care. We were all overworked, underpaid, and constantly reminded how expendable we were. But when I got pulled into a corner office to get chewed out, I treated the issue with urgency, smoothed things over, and moved on. The people who were past the point of saving would get defensive and combative, not realizing how quickly things could escalate against them.

Actually Caring Is Better, But We Can’t Do That All The Time

Anybody with young kids will tell you they have a sixth sense for unloading on you when your mental bandwidth is maxed. You’ll be on the side of the road changing a flat tire while they’re talking a mile a minute about their favorite Paw Patrol episode or one of their 25 classmates in excruciating detail. In those moments, you may not care at all, but you do care about your kids. That’s the difference. Getting on their level and letting them know they’re seen and heard is all it takes. Acting like you care when you have much more pressing issues in front of you still counts. It actually means the world to them. They just want to know you’re present and listening.

I’ve been driving around for a month with a rotten pinecone sticking out of my center console because my 4-year-old son gave it to me. I hate that pinecone. I want to throw it out the window every time I start the car, but every time we buckle up, he’s so proud of it and beyond happy that I kept it. Even though I’m pretty sure it’s moments away from releasing spiders.

The pinecone.

The secret nobody wants to tell you is that showing up is 99.99999 percent of everything. Whether you’re in a band, a bowling league, or just roped into bringing something to the dinner party you were dragged along to, putting in even a small amount of effort and acting like you care gets noticed. That particular something you showed up to means something to somebody. Stepping outside of yourself is a superpower because it’s so easy to cancel plans. We’ve all done it. And we all should sometimes.

You can’t always be on your A game. That’s impossible. There will always be days where you couldn’t give a rat’s ass about anything. But acting like you care, even when you don’t, has a ripple effect that makes the day-to-day grind more tolerable for everyone around you. And more often than not, it ends up working in your favor too because people notice.
