The first photo showed Jill standing at her daughter’s graveside. The headstone read, “ISLA MARIE DILLARD, MARCH 19, 2024. Born into the hands of Jesus,” offering context about her passing.
In the accompanying caption, the reality star poured out her heart, writing:
“Anyone who has experienced loss knows that it’s often in the quiet moments when the waves come stronger and we are reminded more of the hole left by a loss. Or sometimes it’s felt deeper at a place that just gives you the space to feel. I’m so grateful to have a place to go to remember our daughter.”

While Jill is honoring her daughter’s memory now, she has been open about the loss since 2024. The former 19 Kids and Counting star and her husband announced the heartbreaking news of their first daughter’s stillbirth in a joint Instagram post.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard. Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero,” the couple shared.
According to The Blast, the announcement marked the first time the public learned of the pregnancy, as they had previously kept the news private. They also expressed appreciation for the continued prayers and support from fans as they navigated their grief.

Reflecting on that period, Derick admitted, “It was difficult, and I couldn’t take off like that much time because we had a lot going on that I had been the one to prepare for…And I just kind of kept on going. And we were both grieving, but in different ways.”
As The Blast reported, Jill recalled feeling unwell throughout her first trimester and said she had “just started feeling better” before the devastating loss.
As the grief intensified, she revealed that she was “crying every single day,” while Derick felt “torn” between his professional responsibilities and his family.
Still, she acknowledged that her husband was doing his best to balance his many obligations during that painful season.
