Why Are Love Island’s Nic, Olandria and Huda Missing From Spinoff?
Peacock’s Beyond the Villa is bringing back many stars from season 7 of Love Island USA — but Nic Vansteenberghe, Olandria Carthen and Huda Mustafa are noticeably missing from the spinoff.
Peacock’s Love Island USA follows a group of singles who have to pair off in order to stay in the show’s luxury villa in Fiji. The contestants — who are referred to as Islanders — live in isolation and are under constant video surveillance. They must be coupled up to remain on the show and to stand a chance to receive the prize of $100,000.
Nearly a year after their season aired, Bryan Arenales, Gracyn Blackmore, Jeremiah Brown, Clarke Carraway, Amaya Espinal, Hannah Fields, Pepe Garcia, Iris Kendall, TJ Palma, Andreina Santos, Chris Seeley, Belle-A Walker, CoCo Watson and Taylor Williams all signed on to appear in season 2 of Beyond the Villa.
Nic and Olandria, who placed second place in season 7, weren’t featured on the show as they remain booked and busy. While Nic has continued to focus on his DJ career, Olandria made her runway debut. The trailer for Beyond the Villa teased a small cameo from Nic but Olandria didn’t appear to be there with him. Huda was also not featured in the sneak peek after she started dating Louis Russell and seemingly grew more distant from the rest of the Love Island USA cast.
The Beyond the Villa cast recently spoke with Us Weekly about their return to reality TV.
“I think for all of us — especially me — some of us weren’t shown enough where people just form these opinions and they see clips and they think that they know you or have an idea of you as a person,” Clarke shared about her concerns coming off season 7 of Love Island USA. “That’s not at all the case.”
She continued: “All of us know each other pretty well. We get to see the full personality while we’re living it in real life in the villa. But taking the opportunity to do Beyond the Villa — and to be able to showcase your personality and who you truly are — was a lot of our hopes and one of the reasons for us wanting to do the spinoff.”
Belle-A, meanwhile, pointed out that not every Islander lasted long on Love Island USA, adding, “Most of us on Beyond the Villa weren’t in the villa for a very long time. So when the cast was released, a lot of the audience was like, ‘Really? These people?’”
She added: “A lot of people refer to us as side characters and I feel like it’s because they didn’t get a deeper look into our lives. I do think that Beyond the Villa is a good opportunity for them to get to know more about us — and hopefully they’ll learn to love us as well.”
Hannah referred to their return as an adjustment.
“It was a little hard because I feel like now we move with a different intention. In the back of your mind, you’re always going to have a thought of how every move that you make is going to be perceived — even off camera,” she explained to Us. “So I think that maybe I took a little play into it. Because obviously in the villa you have no clue what’s going on at all. You come out to a huge reality check. Now we at least can process our thoughts in real time, think about it and then move forward.”
New episodes of Beyond the Villa air Wednesdays on Peacock.

Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez Targeted In Met Gala Humiliation Plot
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez were already set to be two of the most closely watched figures at this year’s Met Gala, but now their high-profile role in fashion’s biggest night may come with an entirely different kind of spotlight.
As backlash builds over the billionaire couple’s help in financing the May 4 event, protest groups are ramping up plans to target the gala.
What began as online outrage has now escalated into an organized campaign that activists say is intended to publicly embarrass Jeff Bezos and challenge the institutions that welcome him.
Jeff Bezos Became A Lightning Rod The Moment His Met Gala Role Was Announced

The backlash against Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez began almost as soon as their involvement in this year’s Met Gala became public.
The Amazon founder and his wife are helping to cover much of the cost of the annual fashion event, which will be held on May 4 at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
That revelation immediately triggered anger from anti-capitalist activists and critics who say the gala should not be linked to one of the world’s richest men.
In recent weeks, posters criticizing Bezos have appeared across Manhattan, particularly near the museum.
One poster featured what looked like a plastic bottle of urine on a red carpet, accompanied by the message, “The Bezos Met Gala. Brought to you by worker exploitation.”
The growing criticism has put Vogue and the Met in an uncomfortable position, especially because both institutions have publicly embraced Sanchez’s role in the event.
Bezos And Sanchez Faced Early Defenses From Anna Wintour

As criticism intensified, Vogue editor Anna Wintour attempted to calm the growing outrage by publicly praising Sanchez and defending her involvement in the event.
Wintour, who has overseen the Met Gala for three decades, framed the former journalist as a valuable addition to the museum’s biggest fundraiser.
Speaking to CNN in November 2025, Wintour said of Sanchez, “We are very grateful for her incredible generosity,” adding, “So we are thrilled she’s part of the night.”
The remarks were meant to reassure critics and emphasize Sanchez’s philanthropic value, but they appear to have done little to stop the backlash.
If anything, activists now argue that the support from Vogue and the Met only shows how elite institutions help wealthy figures reshape their public image.
That image has only intensified ahead of the Met Gala, which this year will operate under the broader theme of “costume art,” with the dress code described as “fashion is art.”
For activists, the symbolism of one of the world’s wealthiest couples playing such a central role in a celebration of culture has become impossible to ignore.
Jeff Bezos Is Now At The Center Of A Protest Plot Aimed At ‘Humiliating’ Him

The most dramatic development came when activists from the group Everyone Hates Elon told the Daily Mail that they are planning a protest specifically designed to embarrass Bezos and Sanchez on the night of the Met Gala.
A protester using the pseudonym Jane said the anti-Bezos campaign has gained major momentum in New York.
“We have had many volunteers get involved – already people have been ordering stickers to spread across New York and even hacking subway ads,” Jane claimed.
She added, “The movement is building because people are angry.” According to Jane, the group has also seen a surge in financial support, raising $13,500 in just one week.
While Jane declined to reveal the exact details of what is planned for May 4, she made it clear that the goal is to create a spectacle.
“I can’t say exactly what else we will do as we need to keep those plans secret… but I can tell you what we have done before,” she shared.
Jane pointed to past stunts, including projecting photos of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle during Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom, as well as trolling Elon Musk with spoof Tesla ads.
Bezos Protesters Say The Met Gala Is Being Used For ‘Image Laundering’

For the protest group, Jeff Bezos is not just another wealthy celebrity attending a fashion event. Activists say his presence as a central figure at the gala represents what they see as a broader attempt by billionaires to sanitize their reputations through elite institutions.
Jane directly criticized Vogue and the Met Museum, accusing them of helping Bezos improve his public image.
“We also have a message for Vogue and the Met Museum. You are allowing yourselves to be used for image laundering. You should drop [Bezos] as chair, unless you stand by his crimes. Read the public mood and act on it,” she said.
She also questioned why art and fashion were being used to celebrate someone she claims is tied to harmful systems. “Art and fashion can be a force for good – so why is it being used to help a man whose servers power ICE?” Jane asked.
The activist also described the broader political anger driving the protests. Comparing life in America to “The Hunger Games,” Jane revealed that activists are frustrated by war, immigration crackdowns, and growing inequality while billionaires continue to host lavish events.
“We sometimes face off with the police, but the risk is worth it,” Jane said, further explaining, “Billionaires should stop scrounging off the rest of us and pay their fair share.”
Jeff Bezos Faces Renewed Scrutiny Over Amazon Allegations And Past Protests

Much of the anger directed at Bezos is rooted in longstanding criticism of Amazon and its labor practices.
The posters appearing around New York appear to reference allegations made in a 2023 lawsuit filed by three Amazon delivery drivers.
The lawsuit claimed workers were subjected to “inhumane” conditions and, in some cases, felt forced to urinate in bottles or use dog waste bags while on delivery routes because of workload demands. The case has since been stayed.
At the time, Amazon pushed back strongly against those allegations. A company spokesperson made it clear that the company always encourages its Delivery Service Partners to support their drivers.
The spokesperson added that Amazon provides access to restroom locations and allows time for breaks.
Still, those accusations remain central to the current anti-Bezos messaging. Protesters say they are using the Met Gala as another opportunity to draw attention to what they view as the gap between Bezos’ public image and Amazon’s labor record.

Fans looking for similar exhilarating viewing experiences will be glad to know that IMDb users’ votes have made it possible to find the best action movies ever made. The highest-rated action movies on the platform are often award-winning and genre-defining masterpieces. The top 10 action movies on IMDb should be considered must-see action films for fans of the genre.
35
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021)
IMDb Rating: 8.1/10
One of the most iconic and successful installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought together three different generations of Spider-Man into a singular love letter to the fans. The film follows Peter Parker dealing with the ramifications of the entire world now knowing about his identity as Spider-Man, with him being unable to separate his normal life from his superhero life. After enlisting the help of Doctor Strange in an attempt to get everyone to forget his secret identity, they unwillingly call forth villains from across the multiverse.
Even for those who weren’t enamored by the prospects of seeing every major live-action Spider-Man coming together, No Way Home still features some of the most satisfying and effective action in the entire MCU. The film finds a lot of creativity in the wide variety of styles of action, thanks to not only the many different villains that Peter faces off against, but also the small differences between each Spider-Man. It’s no wonder that the film became a massive box office phenomenon as well as the defining chapter of the MCU in the 2020s so far.
34
‘1917’ (2019)
IMDb Rating: 8.2/10
While 1917 may initially seem to be little more than yet another traditional war action film chronicling the difficulties and hardships of World War 1, it’s all in the striking cinematography and approach to storytelling that makes the film such a technical achievement. The film follows a duo of British soldiers who are tasked with delivering a message that will help put a stop to a deadly attack, saving hundreds of lives in the process. In a method to truly put audiences into the boots of its characters, the entire film is set up as a massive long shot, following each step of their journey from beginning to end.
This exceptional dedication to a massive long shot makes the action and stakes not only more impactful but also deeply impressive and captivating to watch unfold. The film frequently rises above being more than just a “gimmick film”, as it pushes the very limitations of camerawork in a war film to their limits, feeling more impressive and well-crafted with each passing scene.
33
‘Batman Begins’ (2005)
IMDb Rating: 8.2/10
While the film may be the lowest-rated of Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy, Batman Begins still massively wowed audiences when it was released and revitalized the Caped Crusader after a string of lackluster cinematic outings. The dark, gritty take on Bruce Wayne’s origins helped reintroduce one of the all-time greatest Superheroes back into the limelight of exceptional action cinema. It helped set the tone for a style of superhero action filmmaking that would massively influence the genre for over a decade.
While a chunk of the film’s massive praise comes as a result of the subsequent praise that its sequels have received, there are still a great deal of strengths that make Nolan’s first Batman film a well-crafted superhero icon. Cillian Murphy does a great job as Scarecrow, and Christian Bale does a brilliant job of balancing the stern force of Batman with the suave, unsuspecting demeanor of Bruce Wayne. The subsequent Batman masterpieces simply wouldn’t exist without the impact and exceptional filmmaking of this initial film.
32
‘Die Hard’ (1988)
IMDb Rating: 8.2/10
One of the most iconic and widely celebrated action films of the ’80s that continues to be rewatched and celebrated as a striking, high-energy masterclass of action and style, Die Hard is about as iconic as action movies get. The film has maintained its status as a classic of the genre since its release, making Bruce Willis an icon of the action genre and making John McClane one of the most recognizable action heroes.
While many other films have honed in on the specific impact and weight of a single renegade hero taking down hordes of villains thanks to their own strength and ingenuity, Die Hard is one of the absolute best at amplifying this tried-and-true action style. Its influence and impact on the genre continue to grow year after year, often celebrated as one of the most important and influential action movies ever made.
31
‘Kill Bill: Vol. 1’ (2003)
IMDb Rating: 8.2/10
The first chapter of Quentin Tarantino‘s iconic revenge story duology, Kill Bill: Vol. 1 follows a deadly assassin known as The Bride, who finds herself having been betrayed by her former employer, Bill. After miraculously surviving the encounter and fueled by vengeance, she finds herself traveling across the world to take down each of the members of Bill’s assassination circle in the ultimate display of her revenge.
Tarantino has achieved a massive reputation for his exceptional action directing for good reason, with Kill Bill: Vol. 1 arguably being the director’s finest work when it comes to satisfying and glorious violence on screen. Everything from the visual flavor to the exceptional music to the raw and unfiltered carnage on display comes together to help the film become an instant classic in the realm of action filmmaking. While each film in Quentin Tarantino’s extensive filmography has been analyzed and beloved over the years, the original Kill Bill will continuously be one of his greatest outings.
30
‘Jurassic Park’ (1993)
IMDb Rating: 8.2/10
The instantly iconic box office phenomenon that combined action, horror, family, and adventure into a masterful singular package that defined the decade, Jurassic Park is an icon of ’90s filmmaking. The film sees a group of experts who are invited to visit a massive, unbelievable island theme park experience filled to the brim with living dinosaurs brought back to life using prehistoric DNA. While the display successfully charms and delights the experts at first, when a malfunction causes the dinosaurs to escape, danger finds itself around every corner as they attempt to escape the island.
While it certainly leans into science fiction and adventure as much as it does into action, it’s difficult to deny the impact and legacy that Jurassic Park has left behind, not just on action filmmaking, but filmmaking as a whole. Its usage of special effects is still a visual marvel that holds up over 30 years later, combined with relatable and rootable characters and the simple glory of seeing realistic dinosaurs on the big screen. While the film has had a multitude of sequels and reboots over the years, none of them come close to holding a candle to Spielberg’s original masterpiece.
29
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022)
IMDb Rating: 8.2/10
One of the rare legacy sequels that managed to not only live up to the impact of the original but in some ways even surpass the original film, Top Gun: Maverick proved that in rare circumstances, lightning can strike twice. The film follows all-star pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise), who continuously refuses to advance in rank so that he can continue to fly as a fighter pilot. His rule-breaking reputation ends up making him the perfect candidate in the eyes of Top Gun to return as a mentor, helping the next generation of pilots and training them for a seemingly impossible mission.
While the original Top Gun was widely beloved for its time, its legacy and impact in the modern era are mostly for its exceptional soundtrack and signature ’80s antics. Top Gun: Maverick, however, elevates and builds upon the material of the original film with a modern blockbuster budget, and gives the premise of a fighter jet action film the massive, stunt-based love letter that it truly deserves. The action sequences in the film are some of the best that modern action-blockbusters can provide, with excellent usage of real fighter jets to bring to life its simple yet undeniably impactful story.
28
‘Heat’ (1995)
IMDb Rating: 8.3/10
A masterful action crime thriller by legendary director Michael Mann, Heat was originally touted as the long-awaited film that had Al Pacino and Robert De Niro sharing the spotlight. The film follows the story of conniving thief Neil McCauley (De Niro) as he leads a top-notch crew on several masterful heists throughout Los Angeles. At the same time, the crew finds themselves in hot pursuit of Detective Vincent Hanna (Pacino), who is determined to stop McCauley by any means necessary. The two men, despite their differences and rivalry, have an unexpected respect for each other’s abilities and dedication.
While the film was already a relatively successful film upon its initial release, nearly 30 years of time and reevaluation have seen many reconsider the film as one of the best action films of all time. The way that the film balances its themes of fate, obsession, and loneliness, when combined with its massive scope and its masterful action setpieces, has made it the inspiration for many action films going forward. The film is still touted as one of Mann’s best films, as well as one of the best outings from both Pacino and De Niro.
27
‘North by Northwest’ (1959)
IMDb Rating: 8.3/10
One of the most beloved and iconic films from legendary director Alfred Hitchcock, North by Northwest follows advertising man Roger Thornhill, the furthest thing from an action hero. However, after being mistaken for a world-class spy, he is swept off his feet and forced into a wild and incredibly dangerous chase that will bring him across the entire country, battling for his life. The film blends mystery, comedy, and action to create a perfect blend and one-of-a-kind experience that would prove to be highly influential for action movies as a whole.
North by Northwest proves the creativity and magic of action movies as a whole, showing that highly exhilarating setpieces and sequences don’t have to come from a standard hero storyline. The film’s implementation of comedy was also highly effective for the era, creating a distinct style that was incredibly ahead of its time when it came to action comedy filmmaking. It goes to show just how versatile a filmmaker Hitchcock was, creating a landmark masterpiece of the action genre despite being primarily famous for thrillers and dramas.
26
‘Princess Mononoke’ (1997)
IMDb Rating: 8.3/10
One of the very few animated action movies to be highly praised by IMDb, Princess Mononoke follows the story of Ashitaka, the prince of the disappearing Emishi people. After being cursed by a demonized boar god, Ashitaka is forced to travel west in search of a cure for his impending doom. In the west, he finds himself at the center of an ecological battle, with one side featuring San, a woman raised by wolves fighting to protect the forest, and the other side featuring Lady Eboshi, the leader of a local tribe looking to destroy the forest for the sake of her growing community.
Despite the preconceived notions of an animated film, Princess Mononoke makes the most of the medium to create one of the most enthralling and exciting action movie experiences possible. While Hayao Miyazaki has certainly delved into action with his filmmaking both before and since, Princess Mononoke is the peak of his action filmmaking as a visionary. The action is genuinely top-notch, when combined with the beautiful animation style and the film’s powerful story and themes of man vs nature make for a fulfilling viewing experience.

‘Big Brother’ Winner Quits X Over Chris Brown
Ashley Hollis has stepped away from X after triggering online outrage for publicly defending Chris Brown. Critics are accusing the “Big Brother” Season 27 winner of sharing “heinous” opinions and being out of touch with reality.
The uproar comes amid renewed attention on Hollis’ past, including her complicated relationship with late housemate Mickey Lee. The social media personality previously addressed the situation in an emotional attempt to make peace after Lee’s passing.
Ashley Hollis Deletes X Account Amid Chris Brown Backlash
Eagled-eyed fans noticed that Hollis quietly deleted her X account after facing criticism over a controversial comment about Chris Brown.
In a TikTok video reposted on the Elon Musk-led platform, the 26-year-old pushed back against calls to cancel Usher over his upcoming tour with Brown. Hollis argued that the collaboration makes sense, noting that both artists share a similar fan base and likely have a real-life friendship.
“It’s kinda exhausting trying to keep up with who people think are canceled and who aren’t,” she said. “Why can’t we just let people like who they like? You don’t have to support every single thing a celebrity says and does, but if someone chooses to like them for their talent, so be it.”

Hollis’ comments drew swift criticism online, with many users calling out her stance.
“This is a terrible take, she wasn’t old enough to remember those pics of Rihanna,” one user on X wrote, while another added, “One thing about Ashley… she’ll double down on her terrible takes every time!”
Another critic pointed to Brown’s past, writing, “Her saying this AFTER she learned that Chris Brown has an extensive history of beating women makes it so hard to like her now.”
Others suggested her exit from X may not be a bad thing.
“Honestly, it’s probably better for her,” one commenter noted. “Some of the stuff she tweeted was problematic.”
Hollis has faced a string of controversies since leaving the “Big Brother” house, including a public fallout with fellow contestant Mickey Lee over comments about race.
After the show, the late reality TV star took to social media and claimed she was the only “traditional Black woman” on the season, a remark that predictably upset many.
Lee later responded, saying, “I do believe that Ashley is African-American as well, but we do come from different backgrounds. When I say traditional Black girl, I mean the ones that people always stereotype.”
Hollis fired back with a series of videos featuring her parents, including one where they appeared to mock Lee’s comments. The post was captioned, “When a castmate from your season does an interview saying you’re not Black.”
Hollis Shared Text Conversation With Lee
Lee’s family later confirmed that she died at 35 after suffering a series of cardiac arrests, prompting an outpouring of tributes from the reality TV community.
At the time, Hollis took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a text message she had sent Lee in an attempt to mend their strained relationship, per TMZ.
In the message, the reality star said she wanted to squash their feud, adding that she didn’t want the two Black women from the show pitted against each other.
However, some fans still questioned why she would make a private exchange public. Hollis later defended her decision, saying she felt compelled to share the message after facing questions about why she paid tribute to Lee despite their unresolved issues before her death.
Ashley Hollis Cuts Off Relationship With Morgan Pope
Back in February, Hollis revealed she had fallen out with her former best friend and housemate, Morgan Pope, making it clear she had no interest in rekindling the relationship.
Speaking during a live Q&A, the reality star didn’t mince words when asked about where things stood between them post-show.
“Me and Morgan are not friends. I don’t have any intention of being friends,” Hollis said.
She added that while she wished Pope well, she had blocked her on social media to avoid seeing her content.
“What I will say, which is public knowledge, is that she has made many videos,” she explained. “I’ve seen them, against my will, which is why I blocked her.”

Parenting Influencer Accidentally Runs Over Son With Car
Parenting Influencer Kelly Hopton-Jones opened up about the traumatizing experience of accidentally running over her young son Henry with her car.
“I can’t even let my brain fully go to how different this situation could be right now,” Hopton-Jones, 36, shared via Instagram on Wednesday, April 15. “It’s so easy to start questioning everything.”
Hopton-Jones is a registered nurse practitioner who frequently shares parenting advice on her Hillside Farmhouse blog. She shares two children with her husband, Brian Hopton-Jones.
In a shocking Instagram post, Kelly recalled how her son’s life was put in jeopardy within the “blink of an eye.”
“Today has been the worst day of our lives,” she admitted. “Life can change in the literal blink of an eye. A true nightmare for a parent happened to us today.”
Kelly explained that it “started like any normal day” when she took her daughter Lily to get donuts before her dance practice.
“Brian was staying home with Henry and was going to meet us there,” she wrote. “He helped Lily into the car and was waving goodbye between our car and Henry, who was in the garage. In a matter of seconds, our son was run over by our car. I was driving.”
She went on, “Our neighbors stepped in immediately and took Lily, and we rushed to the emergency room.”
Luckily, Kelly confirmed that X-rays and CT scans showed no sign of injuries to Henry’s “organs or spinal cord,” with his legs, chest and neck all “normal” as well.
“Neurological exam has been reassuring with no signs of head injury or impairment,” she noted. “He does have fractures to his pelvis that will take time to heal, as well as a few abrasions. What stays with me is the doctor saying: ‘He is hurt, but this is something he can recover from.’ A true miracle.”
She added, “We are in shock. We are so sad. But we are so incredibly grateful. … I do know this has changed us.”
Kelly encouraged her followers to “hold or hold hands with young children around vehicles” and “do not assume they know or will stay where you last saw them.”
The parenting influencer shared photos of Henry recovering in his hospital bed along with a shot of her holding her son’s heavily bandaged arm.
Kelly felt consumed with how the situation may have unfolded differently if “the morning had looked different.”

“If B had gone to work like he normally would have, both kids would have been safely in their car seats. Why weren’t we holding him. Why didn’t I double check before pulling out,” she asked. “We could drive ourselves crazy with the what ifs, and honestly, we are a little bit. But accidents happen.”
Kelly concluded, “I keep coming back to what I would tell my own kids one day if this happened to them. It would be a lot kinder than the things we’re telling ourselves right now. Accidents happen, and the only mistakes are the ones we don’t learn from. We’re on the lucky side of a very tragic accident.”
The family received lots of support from their followers, with one person noting, “Thanks for sharing this. Accidents happen and you deserve compassion and I hope that’s all you’re receiving. If not-sending love your way.”
“Sending you so much love!!! How terrifying! So sorry this happened,” another follower replied, with a third writing, “My heart hurts for your mama heart so happy sweet Henry will make a full recovery.”
Influencer Emilie Kiser — who lost her own young son Trigg in a May 2025 drowning incident — consoled Hopton-Joneses by sharing that she was “so incredibly sorry.”

Apple TV’s Criminally Underseen Thriller Is Still a Perfect 2-Part Weekend Binge
When production for Apple TV’s thriller series The Last Thing He Told Me was first announced, it seemed to have all the right ingredients to make for a TV hit. Not only was the series based on a best-selling novel, Laura Dave‘s 2021 book by the same name, but the series would star beloved Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner in her return to TV, and be produced by Reese Witherspoon‘s hit-making production company Hello Sunshine. Unfortunately, however, the series, which first released in 2023, has yet to hit its stride and find the right audience.
With a discouraging 47% score on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, one thing is for certain: The Last Thing He Told Me has been underrated and underappreciated since the beginning. After all, not only does the series feature an interesting, unexpected story told through compelling performances, but Season 2 is even better than the first. So, while the critical reception might be enough to turn viewers away, the series is not only worth watching, it’s also the perfect weekend binge.
What Is ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ About?
One important thing to note before bingeing The Last Thing He Told Me Seasons 1 and 2 is that the installments are quite different from one another. While Season 1 is all about Owen’s (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) disappearance and his murky past, and how his wife Hannah (Garner) bonds with her stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) to keep each other safe and find out what happened to him, Season 2 flipped the script. In the sophomore season, which began airing on February 20, 2026, Owen’s been living off the grid for five years and working undercover for U.S. Marshal Grady (Augusto Aguilera). After getting as much intel as he can, Owen becomes set on dismantling the powerful and ultra-wealthy Campano family. By doing so, Owen’s new mission once again endangers his family, and threatens the newfound stability Hannah and Bailey have found together after the events of Season 1.
As such, while Season 1 is largely a mystery with puzzle pieces being distributed across its seven episodes, Season 2 is all about a family reuniting under pressure. After all, while Owen’s goal of finishing the job, getting out clean and returning home seems simple, things don’t exactly go to plan and his chaos quickly disrupts Hannah and Bailey’s new reality. That’s especially the case when Hannah gets mixed up with a member of the Campano family, Quinn (Judy Greer), despite everyone warning her against it. As a result, Hannah gets stuck in the middle trying to protect her stepdaughter while also figuring out what kind of life they can have with Owen, which is why Season 2 isn’t less of a whodunit and more of a pressure-cooker story about whether this trio can stay together once the truth finally stops being optional.
‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Is an Underrated Thriller
With such an interesting premise, filled with unexpected twists and turns all throughout, The Last Thing He Told Me has established itself as a must-watch on Apple TV, even though it’s not found itself as a streaming or critical hit yet. According to Collider’s very own Tania Hussain, the second season of the show found a sweet spot. “This time, the plots and characters move with more direction and purpose,” Hussain wrote in her review. “The pacing is also a lot tighter, with higher stakes that feel earned instead of carefully plotted. Even when the season leans into more action or larger set pieces like a fight scene or even a car chase, the writing never loses sight of the story’s emotional center.”
Apple TV’s ‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Just Blew Up Its Entire Premise With Its Biggest Twist Yet
Garner and co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau tease what’s next after that ‘Last Thing He Told Me’ Episode 4 shocker.
With that said, while the Rotten Tomatoes scores might discourage viewers from tuning in, The Last Thing He Told Me is not only a worthwhile watch, but it’s a series that grips viewers with a mystery in Season 1, and keeps the intrigue going with heightened tensions in Season 2. Most of all, while the first season was entirely based on Dave’s novel, Season 2 expands the show beyond the source material, making it an installment with more creative liberties, giving their characters more depth, expertly changing up the genre, and highlighting the individual performances on the show more than ever.

‘Reacher’ Meets ‘Jack Ryan’ in ABC’s Forgotten 3-Part Spy Thriller Staging a Streaming Comeback
There’s a reason why Dad TV does so well on streamers. It’s because dads were raised on cable and network television, and the new shows attempt to replicate that serialized storytelling format. Some of Prime Video’s most popular shows are Reacher and Bosch, both aimed squarely at older male viewers. These shows typically involve political intrigue and conspiracies, and are usually fronted by determined, idealistic heroes. During the early stages of the streaming era, the format opened its doors to shows centered around women, and one of the most prominent examples of female-led procedurals recently saw a viewership spike eight years after its cancellation.
The show debuted in 2015 on ABC and ended after its third season. It was created by Joshua Safran, who previously worked on Gossip Girl and the cult hit musical Smash, and wanted to take a creative risk with a thriller. Notably, the series in question marked the Hollywood debut of Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who’d go on to work in films such as the Baywatch reboot, the Oscar-nominated drama The White Tiger, and The Matrix Resurrections. She also headlined Prime Video’s big-budget spy series Citadel, which is set to return for a second season.
The ABC Procedural Fizzled Out Over the Course of Its Run
But her Hollywood journey began with the show we’re talking about, Quantico. Chopra Jonas starred as Alex Parrish, a graduate of the FBI Academy who, in the first season, becomes a prime suspect in a terror attack. Quantico also featured Jake McLaughlin, Yasmine Al Massri, and Johanna Braddy, among others. Quantico aired two seasons of 22 episodes each and was canceled after a 13-episode third season in 2018. It now holds an overall 70% critics’ score on the aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes; Season 1 peaked at 80%, but the third season has no official score. However, the show’s audience score is languishing at 46%. Nevertheless, Quantico found a spot for itself on the domestic iTunes chart this week, where the leader board was topped by the cult classic Firefly. It outperformed Dark Winds, Frasier, and Charlie’s Angels.
Stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
