‘Jumanji’ Returns With Colossal Crossover Event in Shocking New Release [Exclusive]
Back in 2017, Jumanji got a modern makeover with Welcome to the Jungle, a blockbuster action-comedy sequel directed by Jake Kasdan that sparked new life into the adventure franchise. Instead of unleashing bats, lions, monkeys, and big game hunters from a board game, however, it sucked its teenage players into a vibrant video game where the goal isn’t to play, but to survive. They’re all transformed into the skilled adventuring avatars of their choice, played by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Jack Black, to brave the dangers of the jungle, uncover what happened to a player trapped years ago, and break the curse. It was a rousing success worth $962.5 million at the box office, and now, the world of Jumanji is expanding like never before thanks to Shop Titans.
Collider can exclusively unveil a new video announcing the limited-time crossover and what tropical adventure-themed goodies are entering Kabam’s hit mobile game. Shop Titans is described as a tycoon simulator and light adventure RPG hybrid, where players inhabit a fantasy world and open their own shop to craft and sell legendary weapons, grow their business, and form their own parties to go questing for valuable loot. That latter part certainly fits into the vibes of Jumanji, though it’s just part of how Welcome to the Jungle will be represented. For starters, beginning today through April 20 while the event is active, a special daily log-in calendar will be available for everyone to collect 15 free gifts based on the film and a welcome package will be offered and packed with exclusive cosmetics and power-ups.
At the heart of the new Shop Titans collaboration is a community adventure challenge that will plunge players into the jungles of Jumanji to face its dangers head-on. The entire playerbase will be working together to clear trials and earn rewards for everyone, but they won’t be easy, with the powerful Jaguar awaiting. Taking part in all these activities and exploring the new content pass will unlock a treasure trove of cosmetics, armor, decorations, and more with references to the movies. Crafting is a highlight of the video, with the legendary Jaguar Shrine set, based on the colossal mountain formation where the accursed Jaguar’s Eye that Van Pelt (Bobby Cannavale) seeks. It can either be worn by shopkeepers on adventures or sold for a pretty penny alongside other Jumanji loot found during the event. Players can also dress their avatar in the jacket of Seaplane McDonough (Nick Jonas) or Professor Shelly Oberon’s (Black) hat, or, if they prefer some home decor, can stock their space with the original Jumanji board game, animals, and more.
‘Jumanji’s Next Chapter Is Just Around the Corner
Jumanji‘s journey into the mobile game space will be a nice way to tide fans over as they await the Welcome to the Jungle trilogy capper. Just last month, Johnson confirmed via his Instagram that the sequel to Jumanji: The Next Level had officially wrapped filming, marking a major step forward for the blockbuster after nearly seven years of waiting. In addition to the four main stars, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman, and Ser’Darius Blaine will be back to play their real-life counterparts alongside several other returning faces from both films, including Jonas, Danny DeVito, Awkwafina, Rhys Darby, Bebe Neuwirth, and Lamorne Morris. As for newcomers, Brittany O’Grady, Burn Gorman, and Dan Hildebrand have all been brought aboard for a final adventure that escapes the game and arrives in theaters on December 11.
Shop Titans‘ Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle event is active now through April 20. The mobile game is free-to-play on mobile and PC platforms through the Google Play Store, Steam, the App Store, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store. More information can be found on the official Shop Titans website and social media pages.
