Collin Gosselin appears to be making one thing clear ahead of the release of his highly anticipated memoir: he’s not backing down. The former reality TV star shared a pointed social media post over the weekend that many fans interpreted as a direct message to his estranged mother, Kate Gosselin, as anticipation builds for his upcoming tell-all book, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.” The post comes amid reports that Kate is allegedly struggling with the prospect of her son publicly sharing his side of the family’s story.

On Saturday, Collin reposted a social media graphic highlighting recent reports about his memoir. The post featured a headline that read, “Kate Gosselin ‘spiraling’ ahead of estranged son Collin’s bombshell memoir: ‘She knows it’s about to hit the fan.’”

However, it wasn’t the headline that caught fans’ attention. Collin noticeably blurred out Kate’s face in the image before sharing it to his Instagram Stories. He also included a fan comment that read, “What’s done in darkness will always come to light.”

Adding to the tone, Collin paired the post with Hans Zimmer’s “Day One,” a track from Christopher Nolan’s 2014 film “Interstellar.” The combination of the blurred image, cryptic message, and cinematic soundtrack quickly fueled speculation that Collin was intentionally signaling that he intends to move forward with the memoir despite any criticism or backlash.

Collin’s post arrived shortly after reports surfaced claiming Kate was blindsided by news of the memoir.

According to the Daily Mail, sources alleged the former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star had no idea her son was planning to release a book detailing his childhood experiences. “She didn’t expect any of this to ever come out. Now she’s spiraling because she knows it’s about to hit the fan,” a source told the outlet.

The insider further claimed that Kate disputes many of the allegations Collin intends to make in the memoir and believes his version of events is inaccurate. The source also suggested that Collin’s siblings, including his sextuplet brothers and sisters as well as his twin sisters, may be surprised by some of the claims contained in the book.

Collin Says The Memoir Is About More Than Reality Television

While details about “In the Shadow of Eight” remain largely under wraps, Collin has been vocal about why he decided to write the book.

Announcing the project earlier this month, he explained that the memoir is intended to share the story from his perspective after years of public scrutiny. “This isn’t the story people think they know. It’s the story I’ve lived,” he wrote.

Collin also stressed that the memoir was not created simply to generate headlines or revisit reality television drama. “It is a story to instill responsibility in everyone to advocate and speak up against abuse, injustice, and the exploitation of children,” he continued.

The 22-year-old said he hopes the book will resonate with others who have experienced difficult childhoods and felt powerless to speak out. “I not only poured my heart into this book for my younger self, but for ALL who have faced unfair and outright heinous acts as children,” he wrote. “I am your voice. I stand with you.”

Collin And Kate Gosselin Have Been Estranged For Years

The upcoming memoir marks the latest development in the long-running rift between Collin and his mother. The fractured relationship has played out publicly for years, beginning when Collin was placed in a facility as a teenager.

In 2018, Jon Gosselin was awarded custody of his son after Kate lost sole custody. Since then, Collin has repeatedly spoken about the challenges he faced growing up in one of reality television’s most recognizable families. Reports indicate that he and Kate have remained estranged, with little to no communication between them in recent years.

Kate Gosselin Has Previously Defended Her Decision To Place Collin In A Facility

Collin has also spoken publicly about being placed in a mental health facility when he was 11 years old after receiving diagnoses that reportedly included autism, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. The experience has become one of the most controversial aspects of the family’s ongoing dispute, with Collin alleging that he was unfairly treated during his childhood.

Kate, however, has consistently defended the decision, maintaining that it was made out of concern for both Collin’s well-being and the safety of their family. “My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years,” Kate said in a statement at the time.

“For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility following years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs,” she added.

Now, with “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood” set for release, Collin appears determined to finally tell his story on his own terms. And judging by his latest social media activity, he has no plans to stay silent.
