Kristen Stewart Talks Working With Her Wife
Kristen Stewart and her wife, Dylan Meyer, are attached by the hip; movie sets are not exempt!
The actress shared her experience spending time with her wife on the set of their new movie “The Wrong Girls” and how she did not give her any reason to reconsider casting her in the movie.
Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer got married on April 20, 2025, in an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles over a decade after they first connected on a movie set.
The star actress was side by side with the love of her life as she made her directorial debut with the new movie, and she confessed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that working with her wife was an instant yes from her.
Stewart broke down the concept of making movies with somebody as an act of intimacy, and when they come out good, the love becomes apparent. The actress continued that it made total sense for her to work with her closest friends and family, hence her decision to accept Meyer’s directions for the project.
According to US Magazine, on whether people tried to change her mind about working with her wife, Stewart responded to Fallon that her personality would have never allowed that kind of thought or suggestion to fester. In her words:
“I’m a sort of exceptionally demanding and direct person, so no. I was just like, ‘You’re going to make the movie without me? No.’”
Stewart was filled with adoration for Meyer for her choices in the film, especially the soundtrack. She described her wife as a really “cool girl.”
Dylan Meyer’s Is A Hollywood Legacy Herself
Stewart’s sweetheart is no stranger to the workings of the industry, just like her partner. Meyer was born to Nicholas Meyer, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter who has birthed iconic productions like “Star Trek IV: The Voyage,” “Time After Time,” and “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.”
Meyer also has a handful of incredible screenwriting credits to her name, leaving her imprints on successful projects including “Moxie,” “Miss 2059,” “Loose Ends,” “Rock Bottom,” and many others. The Blast shared that when she is not behind the scenes directing or writing movies, she is also showing off her acting skills.
The 38-year-old’s acting credits also boast projects like “The Death and Return of Superman,” “Jem Reacts to the New Jem and the Holograms Trailer,” and “Wrestling Isn’t Wrestling.”
Meyer, alongside Maggie McLean and Stewart, founded Nevermind Pictures, a production company that signed a first-look deal with “Fremantle” in 2024. Through the company, Meyer became a producer on the biopic of Lidia Yuknavitch, “The Chronology of Water.”
Inside Kristen Stewart And Dylan Meyer’s Intimate Wedding Ceremony
The lovebirds grabbed their marriage license last year at a courthouse in a discreet ceremony at Stewart’s home in Los Angeles. The couple dressed to the nines for the ceremony in matching outfits and simple hairdos, showing off their blonde locs.
Stewart and Meyer got engaged in 2021 when the latter got down on one knee two years after they began dating in 2019. During a previous appearance on Kimmel’s show in 2022, Stewart had shared some interesting plans for their nuptials and plans to hold the wedding at the Oscars if she clinched a win in the best actress category.
Stewart had expressed her wish for Guy Fieri to officiate the ceremony, as she continued that an Oscar wedding meant a free reception, an expansive venue, and a no-stress guest list. The actress had received her first-ever Oscar nomination for her role in the Princess Diana film “Spencer.”
The ‘Twilight’ Actress Revealed She Was Pushed To Define Her Sexuality Before She Was Ready
In 2021, Stewart discussed the initial pressures she felt as a lesbian woman in Hollywood who intended to keep her identity under the radar. She found herself in the spotlight as people began dissecting her sexuality publicly after she stepped out with a woman at age 21, making her question whether she would still figure herself out.
The actress explained that her hesitation to discuss her relationships was never rooted in embarrassment about being with women. Rather, she resented feeling as though intimate parts of her identity and romantic life belonged to the public, an experience that ultimately made her more guarded.
Her love life later took a major turn with Meyer six years after the pair initially crossed paths on a movie set. When the couple reconnected at a mutual friend’s birthday party in 2019, Stewart was immediately smitten, and she wondered how they had spent years living in the same city without finding their way back to each other.
Prior to their engagement becoming public, Stewart and Meyer sparked speculation about a secret marriage after they were spotted wearing rings in July 2021.
Kristen Stewart Revealed How Directing Changed Her Reputation in Hollywood
When the actress is not discussing sexuality or relationships, she also uses her platform to challenge the treatment of women in Hollywood. As noted by The Blast, Stewart addressed some issues in her fiery speech at the Academy and Chanel’s 2025 Women’s Luncheon.
She slammed the culture of “big boyism” in Hollywood and how it shut the doors to female talent in the industry despite the impression that things were becoming more progressive. Her experience making her directorial debut on “The Chronology of Water” changed her perspective.
She accused Hollywood of publicly championing women while continuing to operate under a system that sidelines their voices and weakens their creative authority. The actress claimed actors, particularly women, are often treated poorly and regarded as though their jobs require little thought or intelligence.
After she became a director, Stewart discovered that suddenly people were approaching her as an entity whose ideas were worth listening to. She also recalled a conversation with a respected male actor that highlighted the disparity.
According to her, male directors are often praised for being movie visionaries, and actresses may be seen as little more than tools to execute the director’s vision.
Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer are soulmates in every sense!
