Mark Wahlberg Fans Have Until March 20 to Revisit His Grittiest Revenge Thriller
For a certain kind of 2000s studio thriller, Four Brothers really hits the sweet spot. It has a killer premise, a stacked cast, and the kind of rough-edged revenge energy Hollywood does not make nearly as often anymore. It also happens to be one of the more underappreciated movies in Mark Wahlberg‘s filmography, which makes its Netflix exit a little more frustrating than usual.
According to Netflix Tudum’s official March 2026 departures list, Four Brothers is leaving Netflix on March 20. That means viewers do not have long left to catch it before it disappears from the streamer. Directed by John Singleton, Four Brothers was released in 2005, earning about $92 million worldwide against a $45 million budget.
Set in the icy streets of Highland Park, Michigan, the film follows four adopted brothers — Bobby (Wahlberg), Angel (Tyrese Gibson), Jeremiah (André Benjamin), and Jack (Garrett Hedlund) — who reunite after their adoptive mother, Evelyn Mercer (Fionnula Flanagan), is brutally murdered. What starts as a search for the truth quickly spirals into an all-out revenge mission that puts the brothers on a collision course with Detroit’s criminal underworld — and their own unresolved trauma. The film’s official synopsis reads:
“When an inner-city Detroit foster mother (Fionnula Flanagan) is murdered in a botched holdup, four of her now-grown adopted children suspect it was no random killing. Rising musician Jack (Garrett Hedlund), former-Marine Angel (Tyrese Gibson), hotheaded hockey player Bobby (Mark Wahlberg) and settled-down husband and father Jeremiah (André Benjamin) go on the hunt for neighborhood criminal kingpin Victor Sweet (Chiwetel Ejiofor) while being trailed themselves by the local beat cops.”

Was ‘Four Brothers’ A Financial Success?
Reportedly produced for around $30 million, in that mid-budget drama range we rarely see on the big screen anymore, Four Brothers was a success at the 2005 box office, bringing in more than three times that with a $92.4 million tally. Split between a domestic haul of $74.4 million and a further $18 million from overseas markets, the film is the third-highest-grossing movie in the career of its outstanding director Singleton, with only 2000’s Shaft and 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious earning more. When Four Brothers debuted on the weekend of August 12, 2005, it finished at the top of the domestic box office rankings, despite facing competition from The Skeleton Key, Wedding Crashers, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
