Miley Cyrus To Explore ‘Heartache’ In New Album

Miley Cyrus is returning to music with a brand-new album and a new show to go along with it. On Tuesday, September 1, the “Hannah Montana” alum announced her 10th studio album, “Bass Persuades,” and shared more about what themes the project will explore. In a separate post, Cyrus teased her return to the main stage, sharing more information about two new shows occurring later this year in Los Angeles. All of this comes a day after Cyrus dropped her last name from her Instagram, going by first name only, “Miley.”

Cyrus revealed the name and release date of her new album on September 18. While she hasn’t shared details about what type of music her 10th studio album will include, the actress and singer told fans a little about what to expect.

“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong,” she said. “Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album. [heart emoji] Miley.”

Miley Cyrus Is Performing Her First Solo Show For The First Time Since 2022

In addition to releasing new music, Cyrus is also returning to the mainstage to headline her first solo show since 2022. In a separate post, the 33-year-old announced two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in mid-October 2026.

“It’s been a while,” she teased. “The Hollywood Bowl is my favorite place to experience music and see my favorite artists. I’ve sat in those seats many times, but I’ve never taken the stage. LA is my heart and I’m bringing it home. See you there. Miley.”

Cyrus’ last studio album, “Something Beautiful,” was released in May 2025 and succeeded her wildly popular 2023 project, “Endless Summer Vacation,” which featured the award-winning single “Flowers.”

Miley Cyrus Said This Album Is A ‘Love Story’

Cyrus previously opened up about her upcoming album during an interview, per The Blast.

At the time, she called the project a “layered love story.” She added, “There is definitely a romantic thread weaving through it because, like all my records, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life. But this one feels especially meaningful because this feeling has stayed with me through multiple eras.”

According to Cyrus, her new album is like something she’s never experienced before. “A peaceful kind of love has become a theme across my last three records. Not just the love I share with someone else, but the love I’ve found for myself,” she shared.

Cyrus became engaged to her fiancé, Maxx Morando, in December 2025.

Cyrus Drops Last Name From Instagram Ahead Of New Album

All eyes were already on Cyrus this week after the singer dropped her last name from her social media username, going only by “Miley.”

It’s unclear whether the name change will follow her throughout the rest of her career or is just part of a creative rebrand for her album. Regardless, some of Cyrus’ most loyal fans seem to love the switch.

“SHE’S JUST BEING MILEY,” someone wrote, while another called it “iconic.” They added, “Everyone knows who she is by just being MILEY. This is HER brand. She doesn’t need her last name to be recognizable; she’s just being MILEY.”

Days before announcing her new album, Cyrus honored her godmother Dolly Parton with a moving post after the “Jolene” singer died at 80.

“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts,” she wrote.

“What I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis,” Cyrus added.
