CBS is expanding the NCIS universe with its NCIS: New York spinoff — but who makes up the cast?

Legal drama JAG aired on NBC from 1995 to 1996 before making the move to CBS and remaining on the network until 2005. From there, the TV franchise expanded to include spinoffs NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawaiʻi, NCIS: Sydney, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Tony & Ziva.

LL Cool J’s character, Sam Hanna, was introduced in 2009 during season 6 of NCIS. He went on to become the colead of NCIS: Los Angeles that fall alongside Chris O’Donnell, who played his partner.

After NCIS: Los Angeles ended in 2023 following 14 seasons, LL Cool J moved to NCIS: Hawai’i with a two-episode arc during season 2. The actor was upgraded to a series regular for season 3 in 2024, which ended up being the show’s final season.

LL Cool J has also appeared on NCIS multiple times after NCIS: Los Angeles ended. He appeared on seasons 20 and 22, most recently having a two-episode arc during season 23 in 2026.

LL Cool J reprises the role of Sam Hanna, who is an NCIS senior special agent, ex-Navy SEAL and second-in-command of the Office of Special Projects.

Scott Caan

Caan’s Nick Schaeffer is “a roguish NCIS agent who becomes Hanna’s new partner when he returns to New York,” according to his character description.

Byers’ Addison “Addy” Ross is an NCIS special agent who is “a rock-solid, tough and resourceful agent with something to prove.”

Shane Harper

According to the character description, Harper’s Wyatt Hill is an NCIS special agent who is “fearless, sharp, highly skilled in the field and a hopeless romantic.”

Devin Druid

Druid’s Sean Sullivan is an NCIS tech specialist who “is witty and brilliant but resistant to authority.”
