Paris Jackson Shares Rare Truth About Relationship With Mom
Paris Jackson is spilling the tea about her gradually evolving relationship with her mother, Debbie Rowe.
Reflecting on how their connection developed over the years, the twenty-eight-year-old musician and model candidly shared how removing expectations allowed a genuine bond to bloom naturally.
Paris didn’t have much of a relationship with her mother, as she was raised alongside her older brother, Prince, and younger brother, Bigi, primarily by their father, the late Michael Jackson.
Speaking on a recent episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Paris offered a rare glimpse into her journey of getting to know her biological mother. She started by explaining that it was not until her mid-teens that she and Rowe met face-to-face and began building an actual relationship.
Recalling their first encounter coming downstairs to find Rowe sitting in the living room with her grandmother, Paris described how a brief conversation quickly turned into an enjoyable day spent hanging out together.
As their relationship matured through her late teens and into adulthood, Paris credited a shift in her personal approach to connection as the reason their bond grew so strong.
“I think what’s really cool about my process, in general, is learning how expectations kind of f-ck us up,” she said,
She also emphasized that letting go of preconceived notions prevents frustration, resentment, and disappointment, noting that this created room for something authentic to flourish.
“When I walk into something, and I don’t have expectations, it creates this really cool space for something organic just to blossom. I’d say it’s gotten more refined [over the years],” she stated.
Paris Jackson Previously Shared An Instagram Post Showcasing Her Bond With Her Mother
The recent discussion surrounding her connection with her mom builds on a series of intimate updates the artist has shared regarding their evolving relationship. In February, Paris posted snapshots alongside Rowe to her Instagram Stories, highlighting their closeness.
One selfie captured the duo smiling side-by-side, with Paris wearing a Navajo-print fleece jacket and Rowe dressed in a plaid flannel. Another photo showed them in matching cream-colored tops, per The Blast.
Paris’ post seemed to signify the progress in their relationship over the years. Having spent most of her early childhood apart from Rowe, she had previously described their dynamic as a grounded, adult friendship, rather than a conventional parent-child structure.
Paris Jackson Openly Spoke About Her Relationship With Her Father
Alongside her evolving connection with her mother, Paris has also established firm boundaries regarding her relationship with her late father, pop legend Michael.
Appearing on Jack Osbourne’s “Trying Not to Die” podcast in May, she pushed back against public commentary and expectations surrounding how she honors her father’s memory.
Paris admitted that following her father’s death in 2009, she initially felt immense pressure to share intimate feelings and family memories with the world. Over time, however, her perspective shifted significantly.
“There’s definitely a certain element where I felt I had to share everything,” she told Osbourne. “And that has drastically changed in the last few years, because I don’t really feel like any of us owe anyone anything,” she added, as reported by The Blast.
Having previously posted public tributes on holidays and anniversaries, the singer-songwriter explained that she now protects her grief and memories from public scrutiny.
Paris Jackson’s Secured A Win In The Fight Against MJ Estate Executors
In addition to personal boundaries and family dynamics, Paris also took a firm stance in court to safeguard her father’s legacy. In a significant legal victory, she successfully challenged the financial management of Michael’s estate.
According to The Blast, following a long-standing dispute over estate oversight and transparency, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff ruled in favor of Paris.
The judge ordered estate executors John Branca and John McClain to return $625,000 in bonus payments to Paris. The disputed funds had initially been distributed to third-party law firms in 2018 without proper justification or sufficient administrative oversight.
Sustaining Paris’ objection, Judge Beckloff declared in his order, “The bonus payments are not approved; they are disallowed. The payments shall be returned to the estate.”
Paris Jackson Further Requested A Refund Of Her Legal Fees
Building on her previous legal victory, Paris also brought additional financial demands before the court.
The Blast recently reported that the artist filed new court documents petitioning for formal orders to recover nearly $3 million in total disbursements to benefit the Jackson family.
In the filing, Paris requested a reimbursement of $1.1 million in legal fees incurred by her camp, arguing that the estate’s management forced an unnecessarily prolonged and expensive legal battle.
Furthermore, she raised objections to approximately $2.85 million in unauthorized gifts and expenditures, requesting that the court compel Branca to return those funds to the family purse.
