Prime Video’s Perfect 3-Part Fantasy Series Rewrites the Rules of the Genre

Published

on

Natasha O'Keeffe as Lanfear in The Wheel of Time Season 3.

As the fantasy genre becomes more prominent onscreen, fans have developed specific expectations. These shows often take place in detailed worlds that viewers learn about through brief asides, and constantly build to epic, unforgettable episodes with heavy action. However, Prime Video defied these expectations with The Wheel of Time‘s best episode, “The Road to the Spear.” Though the episode explores the show’s expansive world, it delivers a story focused on character rather than action. The groundbreaking installment explores Rand al’Thor’s (Josha Stradowski) journey into the Aiel city of Rhuidean and the shocking truths he learns there.

An episode of this scale would usually be a battle sequence, but The Wheel of Time does something utterly unique by expanding the scope of the fantasy world and exposing the history of the Aiel. As Rand travels back in time, the episode’s non-linear storytelling allows for thorough and engaging worldbuilding, but in all the information about Aiel society it provides, “The Road to the Spear” never loses sight of Rand’s character. Though it is only a single hour of a much larger series, this episode pushes the boundaries of what can be done in fantasy television.

‘The Wheel of Time’s “The Road to the Spear” Thoroughly Explores Its Fantasy World

The Aiel are just one cultural group in The Wheel of Time‘s fantasy universe, but in “The Road to the Spear,” the series traces their entire history through Rand’s lineage. Offering a deep dive into their culture, the story predominantly follows Rand as he goes back thousands of years and sees how the warlike people grew from pacifists by witnessing the most significant moments in their history, like making the oath that they broke, the choice to take up weapons, and the incident that nearly destroyed the world.

Ultimately, “The Road to the Spear” demonstrates a level of worldbuilding that few fantasy series have been able to achieve, leaving the audience with a clearer understanding of the Aiel’s origins than many of the characters. The Wheel of Time is far from the first show to have an elaborate world (for proof, just look at how many prequels Game of Thrones has been able to develop), but most rely on brief references via dialogue that the audience must pay attention to. In “The Road to the Spear,” The Wheel of Time allows Rand and the fans to discover the truth together, building out the show’s broader world in the process.

‘The Wheel of Time’ Combines Epic Scale and Individual Storytelling in “The Road to the Spear”

Many things stand out about “The Road to the Spear,” but among them is the rare combination of expansive scale and intimate storytelling. While Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), and Rand travel into Rhuidean, Rand is the center of the episode, as he takes an important step in becoming recognized as the Car’a’carn, the leader who is prophesied to unite the Aiel to fight for his cause. Even as it leaps into the past, the episode follows Rand’s most emotional revelations as he learns his father’s identity and discovers the Aiel’s most painful secrets. These moments are aided by the fact that Josha Stradowski plays every one of Rand’s ancestors, showing his incredible range.

Not only does “The Road to the Spear” reveal Rand’s family history, but it tells a much larger story for his character by demonstrating how his role as the Dragon Reborn can shape entire societies. By tracing the Aiel back to before the Breaking of the World and showing how the actions of the previous Dragon, Lews Therin (Alexander Karim), changed their trajectory, the episode highlights the importance of Rand’s actions as he accepts his role in the battle against the Dark One. “The Road to the Spear” uses its epic, emotional flashbacks to depict an integral part of Rand’s journey, redefining the rules of fantasy worldbuilding and more than earning its status as the best episode The Wheel of Time has to offer.

Amazon is full of stylish pieces that will not only make getting dressed feel joyful again but are also totally ‘in’ for spring 2026.

After some research, we narrowed down our list of the season’s top fashion trends to a fierce four. These tiny upgrades will complement what you already own, ensuring your warm-weather outfits don’t look dated. And, while this mix of printed tops, lacy skirts and eye-catching accessories look luxe, they’re secretly budget-friendly, so your spring shopping spree will leave you feeling satisfied rather than guilty.

Spring 2026’s Top Fashion Trends

Lots of Spots

No need to get your vision checked — you really are seeing spots. While forever-chic polka dots are no doubt taking over the fashion scene, we’ve also noticed an uptick in deer, Dalmatian and cheetah prints, proving that circular designs are ‘in’ this year.

1. Everyday Essential: If the goal is to find pieces you can pull on in a pinch, this lightweight, short-sleeved sweater is calling your name. It’s super stylish, thanks to the polka dots and flutter sleeves, and since it’s knit, you won’t have to break out the iron.

2. Secretly Slimming: There’s a lot to love about Grace Karin’s spotted dress — the brown and white color scheme, an easy front-zip design, etc. But perhaps our favorite detail is the smocked middle. It creates a flexible, fit-and-flare silhouette that’s subtly slimming and flattering on all body types.

3. Outfit Enhancer: On days when your T-shirt and jeans combo isn’t quite cutting it, just add a vest. This LifeShe option features a spotted animal print that instantly livens up any look, making it feel more fashion-forward.

4. Breezy Bottoms: Trade that everyday denim for comfy-cool trousers. Decorated with white spots, this black, high-waisted pair is just bold enough to make a statement without feeling over-the-top. The pants look just as great with a button-down shirt at the office as they will with an oversized tee on your day off.

Touch of Texture

After a few cold and dreary months, we’re itching to feel something again. . . and in this case, we mean fringe, lace, sequins and crochet. Some of our favorite spring 2026 designs include details that make you want to reach out and touch ’em, giving your outfits a much-needed dose of fun.

5. Expensive-Looking: Between the crocheted design, preppy collar and colorful side stripes, this short-sleeved polo feels like something you’d spot at a fancy boutique. It’s the perfect piece to pull on and go, pairing well with everything from swishy A-line skirts to white, rich mom pants.

6. Two in One: Satin skirts are a mainstay in our wardrobe — the foundational piece is extremely versatile, whether you’re dressing it up with heels or keeping things casual with sneakers or sandals. Spring 2026’s version includes a hint of lace, giving this bottom a lingerie-like twist that adds interest to every outfit.

7. Easy Sequins: We still enjoy sequin dresses and jumpsuits, but this year, you don’t have to wait for a fancy occasion to rock some sparkle. An embellished tank top can seamlessly be worked into your rotation, amping up your outfits in a way that’s low-effort and wearable.

8. Tiny Update: Fringe finds its way back into our closet every few years, but this time, it’s less Western. The detail has been added to everyday staples, such as denim jackets, making your spring uniform feel fresh and modern.

Soft Shades

Like florals, pastels for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but in 2026, it feels that way. After years of shocking neon shades, like the electric green of ‘Brat summer,’ and clean-girl neutrals, we’re back to something softer, sweeter and somewhere in the middle.

9. Pale Pink: As the most neutral of the bunch, light pink shades are just as easy to style as beige and white. Still, if you’d rather take the guesswork out of putting together an outfit, go with a matching set. This short-sleeved pick is made from cotton-blend materials, so it’s breathable enough for warmer days, but will still protect you on chillier ones.

10. Dusty Blue: On days when the temperature falls in the 60s or 70s, this blue cardigan will prove to be the ultimate layer. The cozy, knit design is practical and pretty, complete with puffy sleeves and feminine, bow-like ties.

11. Butter Yellow: Let’s face it — spring really does come in like a lion. If it’s still super cold in your neck of the woods, this sunny sweater is a smart way to wear the season’s hottest color without sacrificing warmth. Even Martha Stewart is a big fan of butter yellow!

12. Mint Green: PrettyGarden’s smocked dress is no doubt a worthy investment. While the green checkered design pairs perfectly with denim jackets and bombers on in-between days, you’ll reach for the same piece come summer when you need an easy, breezy yet elevated outfit.

Eye-Catching Extras

By now, you’re likely noticing that this season is less about quiet luxury and more about being bold. However, there’s no need to do a clean sweep of your closet. Little additions, like large brooches and satin scarves, will instantly make old items feel new again.

13. Pin Up: Much like your favorite necklace or pair of earrings, a brooch pin is an easy way to give your outfit a personal touch. Whether you rock one or layer up, this pearl-embellished flower looks eerily similar to designer options, making your outfit feel extra luxe.

14: Arm Candy: You’re bound to spot a chunky gold bangle on nearly every red carpet, but the accessory is totally wearable in everyday life, too. This set makes it easy to stack ’em or wear solo, elevating everything from button-ups to wedding guest dresses.

15. Satin Scarves: This spring, a satin-like scarf is the ultimate must-have. While you can knot it around your neck and wear it in a more traditional way, many fashionistas are wrapping them around their waist, layering printed picks over jeans and maxi skirts. So chic!

16: Shoe Swap: Nothing makes your outfit look more expensive than a sleek shoe. . . which is probably why Steve Madden’s Leni flats are selling fast! The slipper-inspired design is simple yet unexpected, and looks just like a trendy, celeb-loved shoe that costs over $1,000!

This Is the Mount Rushmore of Vampire Movies

Published

on

Count Orlok coming out of the bottom part of a ship in 'Nosferatu

Vampires movies have been around since the beginning of the horror genre. With an undead force stalking its victims in the dark, the subgenre feels like a mashup of zombie movies, slashers, and creature features, while being something so much more. Sometimes vampires are purely there to scare, other times they’re sympathetic, and often sensuality and romance are involved, with a once living person now cursed by an insatiable desire.

Because they’ve been part of film for over a century, limiting the absolute best and most important vampire movies to just four is a challenge. This means omitting the likes of The Lost Boys, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Interview With a Vampire, and all of those Christopher Lee Hammer Films. So which four make it as the faces of the vampire Mount Rushmore?

‘Nosferatu’ (1922)

There is no list like this that does not begin with Nosferatu, the first ever vampire movie. Although it’s an unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker‘s novel Dracula, director F.W. Murnau is not restrained. Nosferatu follows familiar beats, with Max Schreck as Count Orlok, a vampire who travels across the ocean to Germany, complete with a plague in tow. Once he lands, he sets his sights on Ellen Hutter (Greta Schröder), the only woman who may be able to bring an end to his terror.

Nosferatu is a course in filmmaking and how to overcome limitations. Because it’s 1922, this is a silent film, meaning that the film must succeed based on its visuals. Murnau uses German Expressionism, a form of storytelling with the emotion layered on the screen through the use of lighting and twisted shapes. Nosferatu is filled with dark corners and elongated shadows, like the terrifying shots which show Orlok’s visage lit against a wall, or in a brilliant moment, his long hand reaching out. Max Schreck becomes the character, so much so that his peculiar performance led to the biopic Shadow of a Vampire starring Willem Dafoe. With his long face, pointy ears, and rat-like teeth, Orlok will send chills down your spine from a century away. There have been reboots of Noseferatu, but none did so much with so little.

‘Dracula’ (1931)

The most famous vampire movie ever made came nine years later with Tod Browning‘s Dracula. The plot is close to what Nosferatu had already done, except with the addition of Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan) as the famed vampire hunter, and a much different representation of the villain. Rather than being monstrous, the titular Dracula, with Bela Lugosi in the role, is a suave, sophisticated antagonist with his cape, bow tie, and slicked back hair. He’s portrayed as more man-like than a horrendous creature. The pop culture representations of Dracula now, from the Hammer films to the Count in Sesame Street, started here. Bela Lugosi IS Dracula, no matter how many other adaptations there have been.

Notably, this is the first variation of Dracula to appear on-screen with sound, allowing the audience to hear what the Count sounds like with his thick, rolling, hypnotic accent. Browning nails the gothic horror aesthetic while continuing to employ the German Expressionism-like style of filmmaking that focuses on shadows and atmosphere. The director also takes his time, letting the dread slowly build, and using the tension of silence to great effect. Maybe Dracula is dated for some modern audiences, but this is the most iconic vampire movie and always will be. Dracula is a moving history lesson playing out right in front of your eyes.

‘Let the Right One In’ (2008)

There were countless vampire movies between 1931 and 2008. So why does the Swedish film Let the Right One In find itself on Mount Rushmore? Because it takes everything we know about vampires and turns it on its head, defying expectations to take a well-worn subgenre in a fresh direction. Based on a novel of the same name by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Tomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Solider Spy) directs this unique coming-of-age film about a bullied boy named Oskar (Kåre Hedebrant) in desperate need of a friend. He finds one in an odd girl new to town named Eli (Lina Leandersson). The twist is that Eli is a centuries-old vampire. However, rather than Oskar’s life being in danger, Let the Right One In is a sweet story about friendship and what two people will do for each other.

Vampire movies often relegate the undead to the role of the antagonist. Let the Right One In switches that up by making Eli the hero. She’s a dangerous, bloodthirsty killer, for sure, but she’s written as a creature in pain who needs someone even more than Oskar does. Rather than fearing Eli, both the audience and Oskar fall for her through one shocking twist to the next. Alfredson doesn’t overdo it with his direction. Rather than being too stylish, he stands back and lets the kids tell the stories, dipping in here and there to show the contrast of deep red blood on white snow. It’s a sad story, but Let the Right One In has one of the most messed-up, feel-good endings in horror history.

‘Sinners’ (2025)

Remmick (Jack O'Connell) is the master vampire with a bloody grin in Sinners.

Will Ryan Coogler ever make a bad movie? If anything, the writer and director only seems to be getting better, and Sinners proves it. Yet again, he teams up with Michael B. Jordan in what may be his most challenging role yet, because this time, he plays two characters, twin brothers Smoke and Stack. The first third of the movie isn’t a vampire movie at all. Instead, it’s a well-shot period piece about siblings in 1930s Mississippi who start their own juke joint. There’s already enough drama with local racists and the return of love interest Mary (Hailee Steinfeld). Then the vampires show up, led by the terrifying Remmick (Jack O’Connell), and all hell breaks loose.

Sinners made history by becoming the most nominated film in Academy Award history. It more than deserves every single one of them. Coogler’s directing is flawless. Jordan makes you forget that he’s playing two different people on screen at the same time. Veteran actor Delroy Lindo shines. The cinematography is stunning, the costumes impeccable. Sinners has it all. There’s a deep message there about racism. Rather than being a downer of a movie though, Sinners is also a celebration of Black culture, especially with the transformative history of Black music scene. Even if those aspects were missing, Sinners is still a great vampire movie. What puts it on Mount Rushmore is that it’s so much more.

‘Selling Sunset’ Filming Reportedly Delayed For Christine Quinn

Published

Christine Quinn is back with the “Selling Sunset” crew!

The reality TV personality has rung the bell on her four-year break on the show as she prepares to join the cast for filming right after the negotiations are done and dusted.

The 37-year-old’s “Selling Sunset” exit has been credited for changing the entire trajectory from an authentic production to a less interesting one due to the genuine energy Christine Quinn brought to the show and how well she connected with the viewers.

The show’s tenth season will welcome Quinn back after filming was delayed for her to complete negotiations, four years after she bowed out in 2022. Quinn’s TV comeback comes a few months after Chrishell Stause announced in November that she was leaving the show after nine seasons.

Stause will not be making a return to the series, nor will Nicole Young and Chelsea Lazkani, who joined the show in 2020 and 2022, respectively. Quinn debuted on the show in 2019 alongside Stause, Maya Vander, Heather Rae El Moussa, and Davina Potratz.

Together, they formed part of the Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles, owned by twin brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim. As noted by US Magazine, she left the show after the conclusion of its fifth season in 2022, stating that her departure was meant to propel her to pursue her own brokerage, which she created with her ex-husband, Christian Dumontet.

The Reality Star Hinted At A Possible Return In February

As shared by The Blast, Quinn got candid about making a return to the show and largely leaned towards being unsure, but noted that talks were being had behind the scenes. According to her, she would always be open to having fun and closing deals on the show, but the entire situation needs to make sense for her as well before she gives a positive nod.

Quinn further revealed that despite exiting the show, she still keeps in touch with some of the cast, like Jason, whom she loves so dearly, alongside other female cast members from the show. The former Netflix star then added that since leaving, she has not watched the show, but she is fully aware that things took a darker turn compared to when she was on the show.

She stated that people have been acting like a veil was lifted off their faces about certain situations she had addressed, where they thought she was being dramatic. According to her: “I had a lot of people that told me, ‘I went back and watched the season over again, and it’s like I was wearing rose colored glasses the first time I saw it.’ And so that does make me feel good.”

Davina Potratz Spilled The Tea On The Effect Of Constantly Changing Casts

Potratz noted that since Quinn left the show alongside other stars like Vander, the tone and balance of the series changed totally. The Blast stated that she described the early cast of the show as the perfect storm of ambition, luxury, and personality, which had been difficult to replicate since they left.

She praised the combination of Quinn’s charming personality, Maya’s calm demeanor and pragmatism, with Potratz’s honest professionalism as a chemistry made-for-TV success. Potratz emphasized that fans loved watching them unravel and find their way back in front of the camera, although what they had was not perfect, it was real.

She continued that as the show introduced more storylines and new faces every season, the emotional connections that once defined the season began to wane. Potratz added that while the new cast brought their flair and unique touch to the show, constantly swapping out casts prevents audiences from building the same kind of investment and commitment.

Christine Quinn’s Return Comes Right In The Middle Of Her Divorce

The former Netflix star dealt with a huge blow in her marriage, two years after she stepped aside on the show, as she filed for divorce from Dumontet in April 2024. Nearly one year after the filing, she revealed in a 2025 interview that people did not really know the things going on in the marriage and how bad things were.

The reality star, who is currently staying in Texas with her son, stressed that she had to relocate because she did not have a choice, and was granted an emergency protective order, but her ex violated that. She added that her ex kept coming back to the house, prompting them to stay in hotels and couch-surfing while in Texas.

Quinn revealed that relocating meant leaving her life behind, completely stripped of everything she knew overnight and forced to deal with a resourceless, dehumanizing situation. She alluded to several issues leading to the marriage deteriorating before she eventually filed for divorce.

The 37-Year-Old And Christian Dumontet’s Divorce Began With A Domestic Conflict

The reality star and Dumontet’s marriage came crashing down after five years, and what followed was a nasty legal battle. The former couple got into it when the police got involved right after the Netflix alum claimed her estranged husband threw a bag of clothes, which accidentally landed on their son.

While Dumontet denied the incident, he was still arrested on an assault with a deadly weapon charge, but he was eventually released on bond. Following his experience and arrest, Dumontet proceeded with the divorce filing, stating that their marriage broke down due to irreconcilable differences. The software engineer requested sole custody of their son and requested for a termination of the “Selling Sunset” star’s right to spousal support.

Quinn and her estranged husband advanced their legal battle by seeking a restraining order against each other. The Netflix alum emerged victorious in two ways: first, getting her estranged husband to stay 100 yards away, and also winning exclusive use of their home in Los Angeles.

Season 10 of “Selling Sunset” is shaping up to be a blast with Christian Quinn’s presence!

Judge Orders Dogs, Turtles Removed From Alleged Drug Dealer

Published

on

A Michigan woman accused of dealing drugs has permanently lost ownership of 24 animals — dogs, puppies and turtles — kept in “deplorable conditions” at her home, according to authorities and news reports.

Michelle Reyntiens, of Warren, was arrested last month on charges of possession of a controlled substance and animal cruelty involving 10 or more animals, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said in a February 13 news release.

Reyntiens, 57, who was accused of dealing drugs locally, was found with crack cocaine, as well as 20 dogs — 11 of which were puppies — and four turtles at her Warren home, according to the agency. Warren is located within the Detroit metropolitan area.

Authorities executing a search warrant at her home on February 12 found her residence in an “unsanitary state” as well as the hoarded animals, several of which “appeared to require immediate medical attention,” the sheriff’s office said.

Macomb County Animal Control safely took all 24 of the animals into the organization’s care, according to the sheriff’s office.

Two women in Canandaigua, New York, were charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty in early December after police discovered four dead cats in a freezer and 17 other animals inside their “uninhabitable” home. The Ontario County Humane Society announced on December 3 that they and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office rescued 17 animals from a property […]

The animals will not be returned to Reyntiens, per a judge’s ruling, The Detroit News reported.

A district court judge ordered the permanent removal of the 20 Pomeranian/Shih Tzu dogs and Red-eared slider turtles on Wednesday, March 11, according to the newspaper.

Reyntiens’ defense attorney did not immediately return Us Weekly’s request for comment on Friday, March 13.

“Caring for an animal is not optional — it is a legal and moral responsibility,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement on Thursday, March 12, the newspaper reported. “When people neglect or mistreat animals in their care, it is not only heartbreaking, it is a crime.

“My office takes these cases seriously, and we will prosecute those who fail to provide the basic care and protection animals deserve,” Lucido said.

Macomb County Animal Control is rehabilitating the animals and trying to find new places for them to live, according to prosecutors, the Macomb Daily reported.

Man Allegedly Killed Girlfriend and Left Her Body in Backyard

Man Allegedly Killed Girlfriend and Left Her Body in Backyard

An Indiana man stands accused of murder after he beat his girlfriend in the head with the dull end of an ax.

Travis Wolfe allegedly killed Kimberly Stewart on the night of Tuesday, March 10.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested Wolfe, 45, for murder after Stewart’s remains were found in the backyard of her own home.

Stewart, 51, was declared dead at the scene.

According to police, it was obvious at the scene she had been bludgeoned in the head.

An autopsy determined her death was a homicide from multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

It was a friend of Stewart’s who called 911 and alerted Indianapolis Metropolitan Police to her death.

He had stopped by around 4:30 p.m. but got no response at the front door and went to work. He swung by after his shift and saw Stewart’s dog outside.

He walked up to the back gate, which was open, and he tried her phone. He followed the ringtone until he found her body between a wooden fence and an outdoor spa.

She was cold and stiff when he went to shake her awake, he told police.

The friend then grabbed Stewart’s phone and left the backyard to go call 911.

The friend allegedly told detectives that Wolfe had been “threatening to kill people” a day earlier, and described him as a “psychopath maniac,” according to court documents shared with Us Weekly.

He also allegedly said Wolfe was confrontational with most of his neighbors and mused often about how they were all “out to get him.”

He also is said to have told investigators that Wolfe used methamphetamine and said that he was Stewart’s boyfriend. He said he lived in Stewart’s garage, and that the two argued “all the time.”

Wolfe denied having anything to do with Stewart’s murder but did acknowledge owning an ax and often carrying it with him.

As they were investigating, detectives found a neighbor who said, while loading something into his car, he heard a woman yell and then allegedly saw a man on the ground with a “club or hammer” swinging toward the ground. The man kept yelling at a barking dog “to shut up.”

Wolfe was arrested on a preliminary murder charge. He also had an open warrant related to an unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon case.

He remains in custody, but it was unclear if bond had been granted. Information on his attorney was also unavailable on Friday, March 13.

A Look Back At Jasmin & Eric’s Love Story

The couple first revealed they were expecting back in February with a stunning black-and-white maternity shoot shared on Instagram. In the photos, Jasmin wore an off-the-shoulder gown that highlighted her bump, while Eric lovingly rested his head on her stomach in one of the shots. They captioned the post, “Thank you Jesus for the greatest gift.” And, fans have been watching their love story unfold for a while now.

After dating for several years, Eric proposed to Jasmin in November 2024 with a romantic setup filled with candles, roses, and flower petals. Jasmin shared the moment online, gushing over the ring before happily saying yes. And in true plot-twist fashion, it was Eddie who later revealed that the couple had already tied the knot. During an appearance on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’ he shared that Jasmin and Eric quietly got married in a small church ceremony with just the two of them and the preacher present. Eddie even joked that the low-key wedding probably made Martin happy — since it meant he didn’t have to pay for a big one.

‘Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams Just Joined an 8-Episode Mystery Thriller You’ll Obsess Over

Adam Scott as Mark Scout in the elevator in Severance

Crave’s Heated Rivalry only just premiered at the end of last November, but already, the show is a worldwide sensation. Based on the book of the same name in Rachel Reid‘s Game Changers series, Heated Rivalry follows the longtime secret romance of two rival professional hockey players: Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie). Season 1 follows the events of Shane and Ilya’s first book, which shows them carrying on a secret fling for a decade while slowly starting to realize that it means much more than that to both of them. The entire Heated Rivalry cast has rightfully been getting a great deal of acclaim for their performances, and we are champing at the bit for the already-confirmed second season.

While fans wait for another season of Heated Rivalry, they can look forward to an upcoming series about Alexander the Great by Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney, as well as a number of upcoming projects starring Heated Rivalry‘s actors. As reported by TV Insider, Hudson Williams has been cast to star in the upcoming Crave TV series, Yaga, alongside Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, and Clark Backo. The series is an adaptation of the play written by Kat Sandler, who is serving as the series’ showrunner and will also be writing for the show. Yaga is a thriller with dark comedy elements, just like the play on which it’s based, and it will expand the play to eight half-hour episodes.

What Is Hudson Williams’ New Show ‘Yaga’ About?

Yaga is a comedic and suspenseful retelling of the story of Baba Yaga, a character from Slavic folklore. Baba Yaga is an old woman who is typically portrayed as an evil witch who eats children. In Yaga, though, Baba Yaga is a charming, fully-fledged morally gray antihero who knows how to get what she wants. The series starts when a detective named Rapp (Reid) goes to a small, isolated town while investigating the disappearance of Henry Park (Williams), the young heir to a wealthy fishing dynasty. While there, Rapp meets the rest of the townspeople, including the skeptical local sheriff (Backo) and an enchanting professor (Moss). It is during his time here that Rapp starts to piece together how the mysterious local myth of Baba Yaga could somehow be connected to his latest case.

Yaga takes a classic old tale and spins it into a modern mystery, framed through the eyes of a detective who’s an outsider to a town that is all too familiar with the story of Baba Yaga. The story is grounded in one detective’s search for answers, but the myth of Baba Yaga hangs over the whole story, as it slowly becomes clear how the myth can provide answers to what happened to Henry Park. Yaga will be Crave’s first half-hour drama series, and like the play, it will put Baba Yaga front and center as a bold, unapologetic antihero.

Hudson Williams Proved His Star Power in ‘Heated Rivalry’

Hudson Williams will be playing an important role in Yaga as Henry Park, the character whose disappearance kicks off the events of the series. After Heated Rivalry, it is no doubt that Williams is up to task for the role. Williams plays Shane Hollander with a great deal of nuance and care, as Shane struggles to come to terms with both his identity as a gay man, as well as the inherent risk of having romantic feelings for his professional rival. The specific details that make up the character of Henry Park in Yaga are a mystery, but he already seems to be a very different role from Shane. Henry is a young, pampered heir who goes missing early on in Yaga, so there will be suspense in his dangerous circumstances, and comedy in the nature of a privileged character being taken out of his usual environment.

The 35 Best Psychological Thriller TV Shows, Ranked

Prepare to be unsettled.

Shane Hollander is a complex character, and Williams plays him well, showing how Shane works very hard to keep his feelings in, often hiding them even from himself. Williams brought nuance to Shane’s character arc over the course of Heated Rivalry Season 1, showing how Shane was slowly able to figure out who he is, embrace his feelings for Ilya, and get to the place where he could have these difficult conversations about his feelings and his identity with his loved ones. Although Henry Park’s personality has not yet been revealed, he needs to be the sort of character that viewers will care about, because his disappearance kicks off the show. As such, Williams is the perfect casting for the role, and it will be exciting to see him in a suspenseful thriller after Heated Rivalry.

Darron Lee Former NFL Player AI Bot ChatGPT Cover Up Girlfriend Gabriella Perpetuo Murder

A former NFL player who is charged with his girlfriend’s murder asked an AI bot for advice, Tennessee authorities said in court. Allegedly, Darron Lee turned to ChatGPT for answers before he called 911. His conversations were presented in court this week as he stands trial in the death of Gabriella Perpetuo.

What Is Darron Lee Charged With?

Darron Lee faces charges of first-degree murder and of tampering with or fabricating evidence. He is being held in jail without bond. Also, Perpetuo’s family has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Lee.

Deputy public defender Mike Little represented Lee during the hearing. Little said “Something happened but we don’t know what happened.” The judge found probable cause to advance the case.

What Did Darron Allegedly Ask ChatGPT?

As reported by the Associated Press, Darron Lee’s conversations with ChatGPT about Gabriella Perpetuo began on Feb. 4. The following day, first responders went to a home in Ooltewah for a call of CPR in progress, but found Perpetuo already deceased. Prosecutors displayed the related messages during a court hearing on Monday.

The AI inquiries shown did not admit wrongdoing. However, in one instance, Darron Lee calls the injuries “self-inflicted.” But Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp said Lee was using ChatGPT as a “legal advisor,” asking it “to basically give him advice on how you cover up a crime scene.” Also, in one of the messages prosecutors displayed, Lee says:

“Dont know what to do right now, Fiancee did her crazy thing again and now she’s messed up, I wake up and she has two swollen eyes(I didnt do anything, self inflicted) she stabbed herself, slit her eye? Idk but she isn’t waking or responding, what do I do?”

Additionally, in another message, Darron Lee asked the bot what to tell a friend about handling someone non-responsive when the friend doesn’t want to call police. ChatGPT replied in part, “Here’s exactly what to tell your friend. This is the safest way to handle it without framing it as ‘police trouble.’” Lee also asked about the “physical signs of injury of slip and fall in bathroom/shower.”

What Detectives Discovered Versus What Darron Lee Told First Responders

Meanwhile, Darron Lee told deputies that the woman may have fallen in the shower. But, according to an arrest affidavit, there were extensive amounts of blood in different areas of the residence that were inconsistent with Lee’s statement. Also, crime scene detectives identified blood that had been attempted to be cleaned in multiple areas of the house. They found cleaning supplies near those areas, but no visible blood.

In body camera footage shown in court on Monday, Lee told investigators who responded to the house that he was “sleeping a long time” before he found his girlfriend unresponsive. He told investigators he saw her lying on the couch and asked if she wanted anything to eat. When Perpetuo didn’t respond, he said he called 911.

Gabriella Perpetuo Sustained Brutal Injuries

Also, authorities carrying out a search warrant found multiple kinds of trauma to Gabriella Perpetuo’s body. The affidavit listed injuries such as: a stab wound to her abdomen, an apparent human bite mark on her shoulder, a large bruise on her head, black eyes with heavy swelling, and dried blood on her face and neck.

At a prior hearing, a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office detective testified that Perpetuo had a severe brain injury and a broken neck. Meanwhile, District Attorney Coty Wamp has said Gabriella had more stab wounds on her legs while wearing pants without cut marks. This suggests the pants were put on afterward.

As for Darron Lee’s record, DA Wamp has said Lee was on probation in Florida for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in one county. He has probation in a battery case in another county, too. Also, he’s on probation in Ohio for attempted battery.
