According to KTUL, Jeremiah ‘Shawn’ Duffey shot and killed Sara on Thursday, July 23 in her Owasso, Oklahoma home. Police discovered her body with gunshot wounds after a child who lived in the home called 911. The child was not harmed in the incident.

Additionally, cops reportedly arrived on the scene shortly after 11 p.m. After shooting his wife, investigators believe Duffey fatally shot himself. An extended family member told KTLA that Duffey had broken into the home ahead of the murder-suicide.

Influencer Filed A Protective Order Against Estranged Husband Amid Incident With 15-Year-Old

According to court records reviewed by PEOPLE, Jeremiah and Sara Gilson faced challenges years before the killing. In 2021, she had reportedly filed two protective orders against him that were later dismissed due to failure to show up in court. However, on June 10, Gilson filed an emergency protective order that the court granted. Duffey was ordered to stay 100 yards away from his estranged wife. Also, he was also forced to leave their home. Days later, on June 23, the court extended that protective order until August 24. Her application alleged that he had threatened suicide and went on the run with a firearm.

That wasn’t the only recent protective order against Duffey. Another woman also filed against him on June 10, citing the need to protect her minor daughter. This order was also granted and later extended through August 24. The minor girl in question was a 15-year-old whom Duffey reportedly coached in basketball. The outlet, The Oklahoman, reports that the husband had kissed and touched the minor girl before another coach caught him in the act. Furthermore, the report said Duffey had also sent the girl inappropriate messages, invited her to his hotel room on a trip and gave her hush money. All of this was reported to Owasso police.

911 Audio Highlights Sara’s Last Moments

“I’m trying to reach him back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background,” a 911 dispatcher told first responders on the audio recording.

In the audio, the dispatcher also reportedly mentioned that a male who was “caught kissing a juvenile” was involved. Also, the dispatcher mentioned a gun.
