I won The Apprentice – here’s two big things that need to change now on BBC show – even though they’ll get me in trouble
A FORMER winner of The Apprentice has risked the wrath of Lord Sugar by revealing what changes need to be made to the BBC show.
Tom Pellereau won the BBC series back in 2011, and was the first candidate to secure the £250,000 investment prize from Lord Sugar rather than a job at one of his companies.
Since then, Tom, 45, has become one of The Apprentice‘s biggest success stories, starting with the world’s first curved nail file.
Now he is a millionaire thanks to his hugely successful Stylideas brand, which recently launched seven new products onto the beauty tech market including a Wavelength LED Mask and a Hydro Exfoliator.
Tom still works closely with Lord Sugar, 77, but risks being told off by his famous business partner after revealing what he thinks needs to change to keep The Apprentice fresh after 18 series.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Tom said: “I’ll get in trouble for saying this, £250,000 was a lot more 10, 13 years ago than it is today.
Read More on The Apprentice
“I think they should double the price personally to £500,000, but it’s not my money to do and I’m sure that would get me in trouble.”
As well as increasing the prize pot for future winners, Tom would love to see the BBC change it’s mind on Young Apprentice.
The spin-off ran for three series from 2010 to 2012, with the winning youngster receiving a £25,000 investment from Lord Sugar.
Tom said: “One thing I’d love to see is the Young Apprentice return, that had a couple of seasons.
“I believe it was very, very difficult for them to film it, which is why they stopped doing it.”
Despite his suggestions for tweaks to the show that brought him so much success, Tom is still a huge fan and believes it continues to earn its place in the TV schedules every year.
He said: “I think The apprentice is still very relevant, very enjoyable, kind of must see TV, especially for the last few tasks.”
As for the future, Tom shows no signs of letting up when it comes to inventing beauty products to help the masses.
He said: “We’re on this mission to help consumers at home have the best possible beauty technology.
“I’m fortunate now to have a much bigger team than when I first started The Apprentice.
The Apprentice biggest moments
THE Apprentice has been a fan favourite ever since it burst onto the box in 2005.
Here we take a look at five of the biggest moments over the years on the hit BBC One show.
Tim Campbell – Former London Underground transport manager Tim Campbell won the first series of the reality show in 2005. He is now one of Lord Sugar’s aides on the show.
Sarah Lynn and James White – For the first and only time in the show’s history, both finalists were crowned winners in 2017.
Amy Anzel – Season 16’s fired candidate Amy Anzel was BANNED from the final celebration show, after a tit-for-tat exchange over Lord Sugar’s mocking tweets.
Michelle Dewberry – Telecoms consultant Michelle Dewberry won the second series of the show in 2006. However, after winning a six-figure job with Lord Sugar she lasted just four months before she sensationally quit.
Selena Waterman-Smith – We’re used to tensions running high in the boardroom, but in 2015 a disagreement between two candidates spilled over – for the first time – into a physical bust-up. Events manager Selina Waterman-Smith was given a verbal warning by show bosses for her role in an off-camera scrap with Charleine Wain.
“So I’m surrounded by brilliant people who were able to come together and make these things happen.”
But he concedes creating, developing and releasing seven products at the same time was a big challenge.
He added: “I think as a brand, it’s important for us to bring things together as a collection. But yes, launching seven at a time is pretty stressful.”
The Apprentice airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer. The Stylpro range is available here.

Amanda Owen fans shocked as she shares new pic of unrecognisable daughters ahead of TV return
AMANDA Owen’s highly anticipated TV return has got her fans glued to her social media and now there is much excitement over a newply posted photo of three of the mother-of-nine’s daughters.
The Yorkshire shepherdess has shared a photograph of her three grown up daughters- Edith, Raven and Violet-on horseback and viewers who’ve followed their journey since they were little, cannot believe how they’ve matured.
One said: “I recognise Raven but the others are so grown up now.”
Another said: “Goodness do I spy Violet?”
Meanwhile another said: “Great to see you back on here.”
For four years the Channel 5 show Our Yorkshire Farm was one of the most popular fly on the wall reality shows on TV, following life on a remote farm in the Dales, run by shepherdess Amanda, sheep farmer Clive and their nine children.
But in 2022, the couple shocked their fnas by announcing their separation on social media. She said: “Clive and I have are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate.
“This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.”
Clive has since opened up about his part in their split, admitting his “anger drove her away.”
Following their split the Sun revealed that Amanda had been having a relationship with web designer Robert Davies, who is 22-years her senior.
He was a “good friend” to them, Clive said as he confirmed that Amanda’s new relationship began after they had separated.
However, in 2024, Amanda revealed that her relationship with Robert had ended and that they were no-longer on speaking terms.
Meanwhile, Amanda and Clive have become good friends and continue to co-parent their children and work together on the farm.
Now will be seen together for the first time onscreen since their split for their new series Our Farm Next Door on More 4.
This new five-part observational documentary series will take viewers back to the Yorkshire Dales to follow Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda and her family as they renovate a derelict farmhouse on their property.
Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids charts the Owens’ journey to breathe life back into a derelict neighbouring property they bought to plan for the family’s future.
This first series follows the initial 12 months of the project and sees Amanda, Clive and their nine children work with a team of local tradespeople to slowly bring their ambitious vision for the farmhouse – known locally as Anty John’s – to life, battling against the unforgiving Dales weather on one of the most remote building sites in Britain.
Meanwhile, Amanda delves into the house’s rich history, uncovering the incredible tale of Anthony Clarkson, a Swaledale mapmaker and diarist who lived there in the mid-1800s and documented life in this stunning corner of the Dales.
Alongside the renovation, we spend time with Clive, Amanda and their nine children at home at Ravenseat, as they negotiate a tough year running the family sheep farm in one of the wettest years on record.
Although Amanda and Clive aren’t back together, viewers should expect to see them getting along well in the series.
In a candid interview earlier this year, Clive revealed that he and Amanda maintained a close relationship after their split.
He said: “It’s not like everyone else’s version of leaving a marriage, because she was at the farm the next day and every day thereafter, looking after the kids, feeding us all, doing jobs on the farm – and she still is!”
He added: “The two houses are walking distance, so the kids, now aged from eight to 23, go where they want to go. They do as they please, there’s no tension or animosity about the set-up.

Strictly Come Dancing: What time is it on tonight as countdown to Movie Week begins
Lights… camera… action! It’s time for Movie Week on Strictly Come Dancing.
It is week three of BBC’s dancing competition, with the remaining contestants set to perform on tonight’s episode to some very recognisable tunes.
Tonight (5 October), the stars will perform numbers to the soundtrack of films including Paddington, Wonka, and The Little Mermaid.
Topping the leaderboard last week, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and professional Aljaž Škorjanec, will perform the Rumba to Billie Eillish’s “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie. You can find the full list of who is performing to what song here.
DIY SOS star Nick Knowles has had to pull out of this week’s competition after sustaining another injury. As per the competition’s rules, he and Luba Musthuk will receive a bye through to next week.
Movie Week arrives after the first elimination of the season, which saw Olympic champion Tom Dean booted from the series.
Tonight’s episode also comes days after the BBC published its findings of an investigation into accusations against Gionvanni Pernice of abusive behaviour.
The broadcaster cleared Pernice of some of the most serious allegations levelled against him, while also issuing an apology to actor Amanda Abbington who filed a complaint against Pernice.
What will happen to Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk if they don’t perform tonight?
Knowles has confirmed he will not be performing on tonight’s episode due to an injury that has left him on crutches. As is customary, the pair will proceed to the next round of Strictly – although his future on the show appears uncertain.

Shirley Ballas teases Strictly Come Dancing ‘cameo’
Strictly fans are in for a treat as head judge Shirley Ballas teased her first “cameo” of the season to arrive in tonight’s live show.
She said: “I can tell you that I have a small cameo role and that I am very excited about that. I am very excited about it, I have been in today to rehearse.
“The characters this week are going to be just, I don’t want to tell you them all, but they are really fabulous.”

Why is Nick Knowles not performing tonight?
Nick Knowles has pulled out of Movie Week show after sustaining another injury.
Knowles fell and injured his knee while doing a jump during a dress rehearsal on Friday, 4 October. He is now using crutches to walk and will not perform this weekend.
A spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing told The Independent: “Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend.”

Strictly’s Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał fuel romance rumours with biggest clue yet – despite Maura dating rumours
STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał have sparked more romance rumours after striking up a sizzling partnership on the show.
The pair set pulses racing last weekend with a raunchy routine that came close to ending with a passionate kiss.
Though the near smooch was all part of the choreography, the committed duo sold it effortlessly.
Not only are they in sync on the dancefloor, but they are off it too when it comes to their perfect movie date.
When asked to describe his ideal setting, Pete said: “Raining, log cabin in the middle of the woods, fire going, cold night. Couple of bottles of Malbec and cheese board.”
Jowita followed along similar lines, saying: “Snowy night, log cabin! A big bowl of salted popcorn.”
It’s not just viewers who think love could be in the air.
Ex-Strictly pro Vincent Simone is convinced “something’s going on” between Pete and Jowita, and he certainly knows what he’s talking about having witnessed a number of romances flourishing between celebrities and Strictly’s dancers over the years.
The pro, who appeared on the BBC series from 2006 until 2012, has been keeping a close eye on the current series and delivered a telling verdict on Pete and Jowita’s undeniable chemistry.
Speaking to 10bet, he said: “I think the two of them are just gorgeous and I felt, after watching them, ‘Hello! There’s something going on here’.
“I would love a bit of romance on the show!”
Even Strictly judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas noticed the pair’s chemistry, and both commented on it in their critiques last week.
Vincent admitted you can fall in love quite quickly on the dancefloor, adding: “Pasha Kovalev got married to Rachel Riley.
“Gorka Marquez got married (to Gemma Atkinson). Flavia Cacace got married (to Jimi Mistry).
“They’re both absolutely gorgeous. If they’re both single and spending so much time together, then why not go for it?
“We’ve seen people from the show get married in the past.
“Maybe Pete and Jowita could follow in their footsteps?
“If you can fall in love while learning how to dance like a professional, there’s nothing better than that. I would love to see a good romance on the show this year.”
However, Pete has also been linked to Love Island legend Maura Higgins.
The pair maintain they are just friends despite being pictured snogging in public in August.
But on Monday, new photos emerged showing the pair “all over each other” while out at a London pub with Strictly co-stars.
