We are delighted to present a major new exhibition this month, Technologies of Peace: Art and Transition in Contemporary Europe (1989–2026). Opening on 12 September the exhibition brings together artists, researchers, thinkers, and curators from across Europe to critically examine one of the defining challenges of our time: the question of peace. Drawing on artistic, political, and social perspectives, the exhibition considers peace not as a fixed condition or end point, but as an active process of negotiation, maintenance, and collective imagination. Presented as part of Ireland’s Presidency of the EU the exhibition includes over 80 artworks by 59 artists from across Europe.
We have a packed programme of events and activities this Culture Night. Join a conversation and book launch with artist John Lalor; take part in an afro beat workshop with Oluwatobi, enjoy music by hip hop artist Fortúne Igiebor and Syrian/Kurdish singer Mohammad Syfkhan, and taste delicious food by Masala Kitchen.
For our September Dublin by Dusk event, Art in Motion: Routes and Roots Community Celebration, we are excited to present an evening of poetry readings by The Poetry Vigilantes, of Dublin 8’s Fatima Groups United, and award winning poet Dagogo Hart. This event is a celebration of a collaborative project with artist Alberta Whittle and the National Transport Authority under its TFI brand.

This Culture Night, IMMA invites you to an evening of conversation, art, music and more! Join us for a talk and book launch with IMMA Collection artist John Lalor who will discuss his work with Dr Jenny Haughton and launch his new publication, Whatever…Is Critical Now.

Dublin by Dusk – Art in Motion Community Celebration

Join us for the September edition of Dublin by Dusk with an evening of original poetry readings by The Poetry Vigilantes, of Dublin 8’s Fatima Groups United, and the award-winning poet, playwright, and performer Dagogo Hart as compère. This community gathering is presented in celebration of the collaborative project, Art in Motion: Routes and Roots, a mobile artwork that brings creativity to the streets of Dublin.

Tap into your musical side to create rhythmic patterns and repetitious compositions by experimenting with watercolour and different mediums. This workshop will begin by listening to jazz recordings and participants will be invited to use quick, impulsive, rhythmic mark-making using pencil and watercolour.
Join us on the last Wednesday of every month for a Quiet Session, when the gallery opens from 10am to 11:30am in a calm and supportive environment for neurodivergent visitors and anyone seeking a quieter museum experience.
Visitors are invited to enjoy the Art as Agency exhibition at their own pace.
IMMA Horizons presents a four-part slow art video series, created by our Visitor Engagement Team, that offers viewers a deeper engagement with artwork from the exhibition Art as Agency.
