3 tow truck fires Tuesday in Brampton being investigated by police

Police are investigating three tow truck fires that occurred early Tuesday in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police said officers found two tow trucks on fire around 1 a.m. when after they arrived in the  the area of Buffridge Trail and Cresthaven Rd. — east of Hurontario St. and about 1.5 kilometres south of Hwy. 410.

Police say around the same time, they also attended the area of Venetian Terrace and Brisdale Dr. — near Chinguacousy Rd. and Wanless Dr. — and found a third tow truck on fire. With the help of firefighters, the blaze was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Police consider the fires to be suspicious, but have not confirmed they are linked.

The initiative is aimed at addressing the rise in criminality and violence linked to the tow-truck industry.
