Breightmet: Man charged with attempted murder after incident

Dale Dean, aged 27, has been charged following the attack at a store on Kentmere Road, Breightmet on Saturday evening, April 5. 

Dean, who is of Upper West Grove in Ardwick, Manchester, was charged with attempted murder, affray and possession of a bladed article.

He will appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court today, Wednesday. 

A man in his 30s who had previously been arrested has been released, with “no further action” to be taken.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Dale Dean (25/03/1998) of Upper West Grove, Ardwick, has been charged with attempted murder, affray and possession of a bladed article.

“He has been remanded into custody before his next court appearance at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court today, April 9. 

“The charges relate to an incident in a store on Kentmere Road, Breightmet, at around 7.50pm on Saturday 5 April when officers were called to reports of man holding a machete.

“A man in the shop suffered several serious injuries and is being treated in hospital. A man in his 30s who was arrested on Saturday has been released and no further action will be taken.”
