‘Active shooter’ incident leaves one dead and another critically injured

One person has been killed and another left in a critical condition following reports of an active shooter at an airport.

The Elko Regional Airport in Nevada, United States, was closed on Monday, April 13, after an active shooter situation was reported at the site.

Lieutenant Shane Daz of the Elko Police Department confirmed that officers were alerted to the active shooter at 12.30pm local time on Monday afternoon. Lieutenant Daz stated that one person was found dead upon arrival at the scene.

KSL TV has reported that the deceased is a juvenile.

The Elko Police Department released a statement saying: “Police are investigating a crime scene at the Elko Airport. The airport is closed to all traffic at this time. We will update you when it is back open.”

Enquiries into the incident are continuing.
