Amanda Owen hits back at social media trolls over way she dresses

The Our Yorkshire Farm star shared a pointed post with her followers after receiving a string of negative comments about her appearance and work ethic.

Amanda, known to fans as the Yorkshire Shepherdess, posted several photographs showing her wearing a stylish sundress while carrying out jobs on the farm.

The 51-year-old also included screenshots of some of the critical messages she had received before issuing a defiant response entitled: “Address the dress.”

“There is no way we can dress this up,” Amanda began in a message spread across several slides.

“We tell our children to aim high. Be the best that they can be. Work hard. To take opportunities and seize the moment. To be strong and not fear standing tall and proud. Be yourself. Challenge perceptions. Step out of your comfort zone. Use your loaf. Be happy and proud.”

She continued: “Keep climbing but reach out to others. Do not give up or bale out. Our time here is short. Understand that you are not going to be everybody’s cup of tea. And that is no sweat.”

Amanda’s supporters quickly rallied around the TV personality and condemned the abuse directed at her.

One fan described the comments as “absolutely appalling” and praised Amanda and her family for their hard-working attitude.

They wrote: “They’re the most hardworking family I’ve ever seen and the most level-headed children they’ve raised.

“There’ll always be haters.

“Just rise above them as always.”

Another follower urged Amanda to “keep being you”, while several others praised her confidence and work ethic.

One supporter wrote: “God forbid a woman have some self-confidence, choose what she wants to wear and be successful.”

Others branded the messages aimed at Amanda “vile” and “disgraceful”, arguing that she should be free to wear whatever she chooses.

Amanda rose to fame through the Channel 5 documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm, which followed her family’s life at Ravenseat Farm in Swaledale.

She regularly shares photographs and updates from rural life with her followers, documenting everything from livestock and lambing to the challenges of working in the Yorkshire Dales.

Her latest post appears to make clear that she has no intention of allowing online criticism to dictate how she lives, works or dresses.
